Gotta say - really not as great as we hoped for. Having been here before, we were looking forward to another tasty experience. Started out with cocktails, the HMD Uppercut and a Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned. Both were tasty and a thumbs up Apps were the Combo Basket and Onion Rings. Between the 2, the onion rings were the winner. Tasty, good portion and fried just right. The Combo Basket on the other hand was a big disappointment for $18.00 - 3 chicken tenders that were over-fried, 3 shrimp and 5 poppers. And you would think that since we order 2 apps, we wouldn't have been charged for a 3rd dipping sauce! Entrees were the HMD burger 8oz ordered medium rare. It was done more medium, but overall tasty. Patty Melt was very good, nice cheese and onion flavor. 1000 island dressing was great and the bread was a perfect grill. Cole Slaw was not a winner and I'm thinking not fresh since it has already taken on the purple coloring from the cabbage. Also, 3.00% Surcharge for credit card read more

Good atmosphere, good service, with friendly and attentive staff. Good drinks. First time visiting, my lady and I tried the traditional wings naked with sauce on the side. The wings were great, cooked fresh, well done, great finish to skin and hot they arrived to the table. For entrées we ordered the salmon, mash potatoes with broccoli and a HMD burger with seasoned fries. The salmon was cooked great but unfortunately it was not seasoned well. There was zero flavor. Broccoli was cooked perfect. And unfortunately the burger was not seasoned as well. It's beef so I need it to be seasoned before it's cooked. But it was cooked well, still juicy just no flavor. The only flavor was from the dressings. The seasoned fries were great, but as I ate them all I could think about was wishing that the seasoning from the fries was put on the burger prior to cooking it. Not sure if the food is under seasoned on a regular or if this was just a one off situation. Will revisit soon to test that theory. read more

I have been here with different people 3 times, different days and different times, and have never been disappointed, neither were any of my pals . It's never crowded ,and I don't get why , as the food is very good and will not disappoint. We have ordered different items on the menu, so far , it's been great , including the signature drinks . One drink in particular was very yummy, Burnt pear Margarita??? Our friend ordered it , after we tasted his, we each ordered one . I could go on and on, pretty restaurant, nice ambiance, great drinks and variety to please all, and delicious food very reasonably priced , without driving to Gold Coast , Orland or Oakbrook!!!! So, where is everyone? I'd rather give my business to local eateries , than franchises, which are just carbon copies of each other . People, if you're looking for good food drinks and appropriate prices , TRY THIS PLACE OUT ! BTW , the bathrooms are immaculate, I always draw a parallel between bathrooms and kitchen . My husband and I went to HMD today for lunch to try their burgers. I ordered the HMD burger, my husband ordered the cheeseburger, both medium rare, plus we shared an order of fries. Wow! The burgers did not disappoint! Every bite of those half pound burgers was juicy and flavorful, and we are picky about our burgers! The pork belly bacon on the HMD burger was also very good, but not something I would have to have on my burger every time. The next time I would just get a burger with the caramelized onions, those onions were that good. Since I do not care for mushrooms, I gave them to my husband and he enjoyed them on his burger. I thought the fresh cut fries were just ok. Their texture suggested they may have been re-fried. We probably should have sent them back. Service was wonderful. The waiter even explained to us where they get the beef for their burgers, from a locally known place, Whittingham Meats. The area where we sat had a mixture of tables, a bar, and slot machines. It was fine since there were not too many customers at the time, but if it had been busier, we would have preferred to sit away from the bar and slots. But even though there were some things that were not the best, those burgers were so good and so reasonably priced, this establishment deserves the five star rating! Last week we ate at Gordon Ramsay's Burger, and these burgers were so much better, and for half the price! We will definitely return. Maybe we will try their steak sandwich next time...this place is a hidden gem in Chicago Ridge! read more

The food is delicious! Great selection of beer and spirits to choose from. This location has a full service bar. The service is top notch with friendly staff. They are willing to go out of their way to meet guests requests. This place has multiple spacious party rooms. Great place to book birthday parties, business lunches and even dinner rehearsals. The ambiance is fine dining but with a fun energetic vibe too! The staff make sure the guests feel welcome and will even crack a few jokes here and there. This is a scratch kitchen. Why do you have to rush them around everywhere? They also had weekly field trips which was nice. The would go to the Palos pool sometimes, went to Lincoln Park zoo one time, another time went to Beverly Art Center. That was nice. I just don't get why the kids who are wearing back packs, carrying water bottle and their lunch are being told to walk faster. You don't need to rush kids on to the next thing. Connect with them, and encourage them to the next thing. You should really make time accommodations knowing the younger kids especially, will move slower. My kids were stressed out about this part. Not sure why the people in charge facilitate this "move faster" approach. Also, I wish they would reapply sunblock. These kids are outside marching around on often 90 degree hot summer days, could we maybe actually re-apply the sunblock? I give it 2.5 stars.

The ballroom was nicely appointed and the food was very tasty (a hard thing to do when you're feeding about 300 people). But the hotel event staff ran a tight ship and I noticed a fair number of people going back through the buffet line for seconds. That is a good sign. Okay now to the bad stuff. The front desk staff were not very friendly or helpful. They looked at you, if they did at all, like you were bothering them. Housekeeping was sub-par; slow and they did not really clean anything. The bar and the dining room were also not good. The food in the bar and the breakfast in the dining room were not worth going back for at all, ever! One final thing to note is that the hotel is isolated in an area that is not so nice. Surrounding businesses are not interesting, there are no good restaurants and there is no place to shop if that is your thing. The hotel itself might be worth a 4 star rating here but the negative aspects drag it down to a 3 star review. Do I recommend this hotel? No.

The cuisine here is very tasty ! There's a good diversity of choices on the menu. I particularly enjoyed the cheese curds and calamari as appetizers. Secondly, the location is great because its spacious and I love the variety of areas for dining. The rooftop was a very refreshing touch. Because I generally connect it with upscale downtown restaurants. However, it's great to have that upscale experience in a nice low key neighborhood. Additionally, each staff that I met with made me feel at home and welcomed. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of this place. They've got some pretty cool party rooms. And my friends really loved the ambiance and are planning a party there for our members. Also, a long time friend of mine was absolutely impressed by the king salmon how well it was cooked. We ate on the rooftop patio on a warm summer evening as the sun was setting behind the Chicago Ridge commuter train station. Jess L. was our server. It was because of our interactions with her (even more than the sunset and the food) that our evening became so memorable. Jess is intelligent and confident in everything she does; she has a genuine knack for handling any situation or circumstance. The food at HMD is straightforward and the portions are generous. For my entrée, I kept it simple and ordered six chicken tenders ($10) with a side of BBQ sauce. They were decent--crispy and well-cooked--but lacked any real standout flavor or seasoning. As for my friends, they were generally pleased with their meals. One ordered the crispy chicken sandwich ($14), which she enjoyed, though she was disappointed she didn't realize she could have added sauce. The waitress hadn't asked if she wanted any, and my friend must have missed this on the menu, so a reminder would have been helpful. My friend did like the sandwich's crispy texture, though. My other friend had the Cajun pasta ($12), which she liked a lot. It had a nice spicy kick and came with two pieces of garlic bread. All in all, I don't think I'd rush back here. The menu has a lot of options, and the prices are reasonable, but nothing we had stood out enough to make me want to return.
