Thank you to the staff at Garden Chalet for having my family and I after my grandpas wake. I just buried my Mom.We book this place for a luncheon. Big mistake, the service was terrible one of the severs almost dropped a few plates of food. Let me tell you for the price of the food , I wouldn't serve it to an inmate. I was told people got sick from the food! Then try to pay the bill, they wanted to charge us more money! I recently attended a wonderful garden wedding here, the venue is gorgeous, the staff are very friendly. The food, well that's where the ball was dropped. It was family style, we had mashed potatoes with gravy on the side very fluffy, very delicious, I believe Penne pasta with Italian sausage, the pasta was excellent, the sauce was a little too sweet, but the sausage was a total miss, not good at all. Roast beef with gravy, it was okay. The steamed vegetables were excellent, the rolls and the cream of broccoli soup were worth writing home about, they were phenomenal. The fried chicken was horrid. It lacked flavor, it wasn't even that crispy. Overall, the wedding was great, beautiful venue and the food was okay. As long as the bride and groom were happy, that's all that really matters. read more

Writing this review after my band played an event here recently. So I can't really speak to the booking process, but having been to a lot of venues in my career, this one ranks towards the top. I just had my wedding here a few days away and at first everything was going well but when it was time to serve the appetizers no one told the wedding party and we were outside taking pictures and we paid extra just to have those appetizers and I didn't even get any . Towards the end of my wedding it seem like they were rushing us but our time was no where near up and to top it all off the manager Regina cut our wedding cake with out our permission then lied to our faces and said ' oh I thought you guys had cut it ' my husband was very upset so I will not be doing business with them ever again read more

Came here for a funeral luncheon. Pros... The room was very nice. Service was polite and prompt. Food was family style which is usually a turn off, but it was better than most places. Now for the cons... Wanted the bar open but would only serve us drinks and due to it being an Irish funeral luncheon thought that was kind of a buzz kill. As the luncheon was going on though, they let a wedding party, who I'm assuming was going to be using the room later that evening, bring in their stuff and equipment. Found that to be very disrespectful. Felt they could have held off till we were finished. That last fact alone is why I wanted to right this review. read more

Really great reception hall! A friend had her wedding reception here and we had a great time. Based on their website, the facility staff seem to make a lot of accommodations for those who come in to use the space. As long as you provide your own guidelines, they will set up the space, decorate and provide the food and bar arrangements. The room was decorated with lovely lights and nice red fabrics to match the wedding's theme. The food was delicious and the bartenders were super friendly! I would recommend this facility for those who live in the area - as much as I liked it, I don't think I would want to go out of my way to have a reception here because it's over 45 minutes from my house. As a kid, we always had banquets here for our sports leagues and etc. A friend of mine had her wedding reception here and I was surprised because as I remembered it when I was young, it wasn't that nice and fancy. But Garden Chalet proved me wrong. My friend's reception was beautiful and the place was plenty big enough. I liked the outside patio. My friend had a photo booth out there and the weather was nice. The bathroom was beautiful, large, clean and when I had a dress emergency, plenty of room to safety pin my dress. Was very happy with this place. At the end of the night, the bartenders may have lost their patience (our group of friends is young and a little party crazy). But the waiters were very nice, young kids. read more

I had my wedding there in November of 2018. After trying to plan my event at another venue running into unprofessionalism and hidden expenses I decided to explore my options. I met with Elizabeth which is an angel in disguise. She made our wedding come true! The prices and packages are fantastic, I food was great and the service was first class. The food kept coming, the drinks kept pouring and all my guests had a great time. She even let us use the garden room for our ceremony and dessert room. The whole event put a smile on my face and even the new wife agreed that having our wedding here was the right move. You have got to be kidding me. We came here as a part of a funeral luncheon since it was so nearby the cemetery we were at. I think it's proximity to so many cemetery's might be the only thing sustaining this place. If the food we were served is any indication of the rest of the menu, I can tell you that you don't need to be a chef to work in their kitchens. The ability to work a microwave or a deep fryer will suffice. Canned green beans, instant mashed potatoes, frozen sliced "beef", wilted salad, frozen and then fried chicken. Just terrible. Also, this place could use a major facelift. It's not exactly modern or up-to-date in any way. The only thing that went well was when we asked for another table to be set up because there weren't enough seats for our party. I had my wedding at the Garden Chalet last year and it was perfect! The staff was very friendly and accomodating. All of my wedding guests were very impressed. We had the plated chicken/steak combination and everyone said the food was amazing! The room was transformed beautifully and there was a lot of attention to detail. The part we loved the most was the affordability. The prices are very reasonable and you get so much value for your money. This is the fourth event our family has had at the Garden Chalet. We have been very happy with the accommodations, the service and the food served. If we had an issue it was handled professionally and taken care of immediately. We have had many wonderful moments at the Chalet and I thank them very, very much for everything they did for us. Disgusting - one of the worst places I've ever eaten. I've unfortunately had to eat here quite a few times after funerals and I can tell you that this restaurant is more depressing than the actual funeral. The inside is filthy. The sheer curtains are stained with food or discolored yellow (probably from when people could smoke inside 20 years ago). The chairs are all torn up and the carpet is filthy. As for the food, I would have a guilty conscience if I fed it to my dog. Everything is garbage and nothing is fresh. Instant mashed potatoes, horrible frozen sliced beef (that wasn't even room temperature) with some kind of gelatinous gravy, awful green beans and mushy mostacciolli with sauce from a jar. The salad was wilted and dried out - I'm not even sure how that's possible to have dry salad. My kids were horrified by the condition of the room and didn't even like the ice cream - that's how foul this place is. Coincidentally, my wife had a horrible upset stomach a few hours after we ate here. Do not make your funeral party further suffer by eating here. I suggest Papa Joes, Palermo's or 115 Bourbon Street. Even a prepackaged sandwich from the grocery store to be handed out graveside would be better than this horrible food in this horrible place. Or have nothing. These owners should be ashamed and embarrassed to run a place like this. I made my wife vow to me that when I die, she will not use this place. I would rather she take everyone to 7-11 for the roller hot dogs that have been under the heat lamps for 3 days. They did a great job for our wedding on march 17th. Everything looked amazing and all they told us to do was leave the boxes and they'll take care of the rest. I really feel disappointed with this venue . I worked really hard to make this happen over a year of planning every little detail and I felt like we were not taken care of . When I came in to drop of my decorations and ceremony things the day before the rehearsal I was greeted by a server which upset me because I called Prior to showing up to ensure I could go over everything with my event planner . I quickly went over everything with the server and it bothered me nothing was being written down . I then showed up for my rehearsal the following day and no one came out to great us . They did not have my information for my marquee sign and they never let me know they had everything in order for decoration I had to seek out someone to ask they got everything . It made me feel very in easy that we did not talk about placement and Timing of everything . I had to remember everything and let them know . Then comes the day of the wedding . My friend shows up 20 minutes prior to the ceremony and asked what I needed done the lights for my centerpieces were not turned on , the the guitar stand was not set up it broke and no one let me know that happened , when I dropped it off I told them I could bring another stand if the current one didn't work and no one called to let me know . Our cake topper was missing our dog which we special ordered and it never even made it to the cake . The gluten free place cards I made were not even in the right places and the entire timing of everything was wrong . I got a sheet of paper from them letting me know the order of the night and the timing of everything I was told 6-7 ceremony 7-8 dances and cake cutting 8-9 dinner 9-12 dancing . 30 minutes in the cake is still in the middle of the dance floor and no one prompted us to Leave the room for introductions so we could start dances and cake cutting , so I then went to the Dj to figure out what was going on and he said whatever I wanted . It's not like I made this up this is what I was told from the venue would happen so I had to round everyone up and start everything , had I not noticed I would have had my Photo Booth set up for A hour and no one would have used it since we were doing cake cutting and dances . I set everything up according to the time line they gave me and they didn't follow it so Instead of enjoying my wedding I was scrambling to make everything work . I live out of state and work two jobs so it was not easy for me to get to the venue . When I had table runners made I called them to ask for the dimensions and they told me to come in and measure them . If I'm spending thousands of dollars you think they would measure they tables for me it's not like I live around the corner so my aunt had to make a 45 minute drive to measure the tables . I know I can't be the first person to ask that question so I was shocked they didn't have the measurements on hand . Pretty much all in all I feel very disappointed I worked really hard for that night to happen and I feel like they really could have cared less . read more

The Garden Chalet staff was so accommodating. We had our wedding reception there last year on 9/29/12. They took great care of everyone. When they realized they didn't have the right alcohol to make our blue signature drink, they sent someone out to get it. They brought out a special dinner for one of our flower girls who wasn't eating her dinner. When my sister wanted to give us a candy bar, they let us use their containers and serving utensils. They packed everything up for us at the end of the night, so there was no fuss. You can really tell that it is a family-run establishment, and they care about making your wedding reception a memorable one. They were also affordable, and it was convenient to have the cake and champagne toast included in the plated dinner cost. Went in with my mom and cousin with high expectations (due to reviews and referral) and was extremely disappointed. The place itself wasn't TERRIBLE (although some updates would help, aesthetically speaking). The person who gave the "tour" seemed extremely annoyed from the moment we walked in to the time we walked out. Whenever we asked her questions she would give the shortest form of a response. Or if ever we had an idea about where certain things could go -hypothetically speaking- she shot the idea down without explanation. "I cant do that!" Was her response. Period. She seemed extremely uninviting and like she had the smallest interest in selling the place. She didnt crack a smile once. We tried so hard to be understanding (maybe she had a bad night) but when planning an event, esp. a wedding reception its hard to work with someone so uptight. read more

Shelley and Regina are the biggest c**** you'll ever meet. I told Regina I couldn't work bc my grandma is in the hospital and she laughed and spit at me and told me my grandma could go fherself. They have rats in the kitchen. They dropped chicken on the floor and reserved it. After every party, they dump the salad dressing into a huge bowl and reserve it for the next one. Vicky the dishwasher acted very innapropriate towards me. Owen Walker was the best employee they've ever hired. He's the only reason they deserve more than 0 stars. Liz would not talk to me unless she had a red bull in hand and made employees bring her snacks. Meanwhile employees could not eat even if were starving. One time they made me work a 15 hour shift. I asked if I could go home, they told me that Garden Chalet is my home now and that I would never be able to leave. I was forced to eat the roaches that crawled on the walls. I would not reccomend. Surprisingly very good food for a banquet facility. Loved the real mashed potatoes, probably homemade chicken soup, dinner rolls were warm and toasty. Fried chicken was crispy and moist. Being an event coordinator myself I am very picky about details and from the moment i walked into the office until today when I walked out of the shower I cannot express what a wonderful venue to have an event. Everyone from event coordinators in the office to the waitstaff, cook, chefs just bent over backwards time and again to make the day everything i could have hoped it to be. I went to Garden Chalet this past Saturday for an appointment as my husband and I wanted to celebrate our vow renewal there, after having celebrated our wedding there 10 years ago, and the lady who saw us at 3pm treated us miserably as if we were poor and were wasting her time! She even told us that the difference between one package and another was "a lot of money!" I couldn't believe we were being treated in such a horrible way, and we left heartbroken! I would've thought that repeat business would be something they'd look forward too, and could even showcase on their website! To start, I'm giving two stars. One because the staff there is extremely pleasant and professional. The second star is for the cathedral ceiling in part of the larger banquet room. It really is a gorgeous part of the building. HOWEVER, my fiance and I attended a tasting there last night and we were MUCH LESS than satisfied. I will give them credit for making the set-up and food appealing to the eye but there were only a couple of dishes that appealed to my taste-buds. For example, the beef terriyaki appetizer was extremely salty, the quiche was more like a flavorless mush, the bruschetta was almost tasteless with tomatoes that seemed to be on their last day of edible use, and the various types of mashed potatoes had almost no flavor at all. Not only were the soups straight out of a can/carton with processed chicken, but the chicken marsala, beef tenderloin, and various vegetables tasted like they were out of the frozen section at a low quality grocery store. - The kind that come bagged and pre-made. Although the majority of the food was extremely bland, I will give them a thumbs-up on the double baked potato, breaded (not fried) chicken, chicken shish-ka-bob (although my fiance didn't like it), and their chicken with dressing (although bland as well). Their bbq and swedish meatballs were also OKAY, but nothing special. Over-all, i would have to say that based on the food, I would NOT have my wedding reception at this venue. Although, if it were a must, I would suggest requesting to have the chef/cook add your own sauces or spices to the food, or even ask to allow you to have sauces/spices on the table for your guests to add at their discretion. I hate to be so critical, but I would hate for another bride to be as disappointing as i know i would be if i had booked my reception there without going to the tasting. read more

They will dictate when the bar closes for any reason they decide even tho you sign a contract and no one does anything to give them a reason to close the bar. Horrible place would never go there again. Just went to a wedding there and felt so bad for the bride who ended the night in tears. Everything that could go wrong did. The workers were rude even the manager. They were yelling at the kids just because they were playing. Instead of telling the parents they decided they had the right to yell and make the kids cry. The "security" guard had a attitude all night that so many of the guest told the bride and once she said something to the management they pretty much told her to bad and did nothing to fix the problem. We have others in our family who were going to have there weddings here also but after what we all saw they cancelled the next day.
