Stuffed - This is 'double-decker pizza where the toppings are laid atop the bottom dough along with pounds of grated cheese, and then another sheet of dough is placed on top to which is added many ladles of tangy pizza sauce. Suffed Pizza usually take about 45 minutes to bake. 3). Tavern Style - This is a Thin-Crust Pizza that became popular in Chicago's Southside neighborhoods long before Deep-Dish or Suffed Pizza ever saw a mouth. It was created for the men who work in the 'Stock Yards' butchering cows. After a long day these workers would often go to their local tavern to have a beer and maybe a snack (if the tavern actually had any snacks. Then, eventually ONE Tavern caught on, that if they offered a Snack, the men drinking would always order another beer. So they began making inexpensive, thin-crust pizza (not to sell but to give-away as a promotion. And to make it easier to both snack and drink at same time, the tavern cut the pizza in straight lines, east to west, and north to south.
