A group of us came here first on a pizza tour based on the recommendation of someone who really knows pizza. The restaurant seemed upscale for a pizza place, though they apparently offer other things such as salads and sandwiches. It was cute and very busy. We first ordered the BBQ chicken pizza (though we also considered a Buffalo chicken pizza which isn't on the menu) based on recommendations found online. What arrived was utterly average save for the crust. Their crust is thin and chewy, and I thought too chewy, but two of the people here loved it. I think it elevated whatever was on it but for a BBQ chicken pizza something more tender would have been nice. The toppings were standard bbq chicken fare with a very sweet sauce that I liked, but this was nothing special. It tasted like every other bbq chicken pizza found in any slice shop across the USA. We also ordered the "Dolce Vita" with tomato sauce, wilted spinach, fresh mozzarella, California figs, gorgonzola, prosciutto and parmesan topped with infused rosemary oil. Holy moly was that thing good! Sure, it sounds like something only the snobbish elite would get at a fine restaurant but hey... we are pizza snobs and this is a nice restaurant! Everything played well together taste wise and I really enjoyed the figs. Others dug the prosciutto, and the spinach was a nice healthy touch. On this pizza, the crust and toppings were better matched and its chew and flavor were more appreciated. Service was relatively quick considering how full it was, and you could see the oven in the back. The 10" pizzas are probably enough for one person, but they work well to share. Depending on what type of pizza you pick, the prices are either reasonable (for special pizzas) or overpriced (for pepperoni pizzas). That being said, I would love to come back and try more of their special pizzas. read more

In town for a wedding and we were looking for some good healthy, and delicious, food around 7:30om. We walked into Baba Louie and they were happy to have us (with closing at 8pm) and we were quickly waited on and served. The small Caesar salad was enough for 2, and the half and half barbecue chicken and pepperoni pizza was LIGHTS OUT good! As we were wrapping up our waitress asked if we would like some desert, and I just wanted a whole other pizza simply because it was that delicious! Very solid. Almost 4 starts but just not quite, but definitely a solid delicious meal. And we will go back. I really enjoyed the texture and flavor of the crust and the freshness of the ingredients on the pizza. The sauce on the pizza crust was super super fresh, but needed a little extra salt or some traditional Pizza spices like basil, oregano, and garlic. There was just almost not taste to the sauce except the tomato. The salad was enormous and that was the small, ingredients super fresh. Dressing was the vinaigrette which I loved the texture and thickness and the vinegar taste, but again needed some salt and seasoning to really make the ingredients shine. I love the freshness of the ingredients but they tend to shy away from spices and seasoning which would make their food jump. Place was clean and a cute old bar type feel. Nothing outstanding here. Walked in quarter to 2 with two for lunch. Not very busy. Took almost 20 minutes to put our order in (two pizzas and two waters). My friend got an autumn-harvest type which left much to be desired. Very little flavor and the sweet potato was undercooked and had a curry flavor which wasnt listed on the description. My pizza was fine, but nothing to write home about. Added prosciutto which ended up being an extra $3. For the two small pizzas, it was $38 for lunch. Laid back and casual dining with old school Hudson city vibe. Very friendly service. Great variety on the menu, with gluten free and vegan options . I had the Vegetazione Bravo pizza on gluten free dough, which is house made and sourdough, delicious! My husband had the Pomodoro Bianco pizza. We split a simple house salad that was plenty for both of us, a nice pile of fresh greens with balsamic dressing. One side note, if you want something vegan make sure you stress also dairy free, I've had a couple of mishaps that were quickly and courteously corrected. Third time here. Now serving indoors, mask free for vaxxed people. Food is still excellent, but prices have gone up about 18%. Maybe I shouldn't give such high praise? I, again, had the Dolce Vita pizza, and ordered two more pizzas to go. The bill had a 20% tip already added (which is a little presumptuous) and was calculated on the total including the two take out pizzas. I don't know anybody that tips 20% on a to go order, so I thought that was out of line. read more

Arrived around noon and had to wait 40 minutes for a table but it was worth it. Great pizza and even better service. For four people we had three large pizzas and a small pizza, and started with the small Greek salad. It was the perfect amount of food for us, although we do travel with a seemingly permanently hungry teenager. Plenty of shops to peruse in the area while you wait for a table. The only negative was that we had the table next to the door at the front and it was very busy as people came in to check on tables, and on showcase to people waiting outside. We were able to close the shade, so that helped. All in all a great experience. The kids loved it. read more

Average pizza and good service but... we were a party of 4 and the tip was added without informing us. We would've tipped more but I assumed they were adamant about that particular amount so I left it as is. Strange to add that and not tell the customer. A tip is for good service and up to the customer or traditionally added to large parties with notification. Maybe it was on the menu but 4 people missed that so not clear. Pizza was good and crispy but I did order it well done so it would be. Had nachos for the table and it was mainly a plate of salty chips, not much chicken or cheese and no joke just a sprinkle of pico de gallo. This is the to go to spot right now! Love how they did precaution for Covid. Currently, they are doing curbside pick up. You give them the credit card information over the phone when you order. The girl was super friendly and let me know it would be ready around 30mins. I built my own pizza got pepperoni and mushroom. She said if I want basil. I love basil so I had to say yes of course. I brought the pizza home, by the time I had the pizza it was cold but it was still so good. The pizza is layered with pepperoni, garlic gives it a kick and basil adds extra flavor. I couldn't wait to finish all my meal because I had to write how good it was. I wish I can bring it back with me to nyc! I will be coming back for more. Probably will try the basil or pesto next too. The price is pretty good too $14 for a large and I had pasta craving so I got a children pasta. Pasta is okay, I wish it had cheese or more cheese. Maybe the adult one is different. Came back here with my sis and her fam for sourdough good and healthier! Got the anchovy mix, prosciutto mix and margherita with a nice Argentinian Malbec finished with tiramisu and creme brûlée. It was a long weekend getaway for us. We stopped by this pizzeria since it was walking distance from our B&B. This is a family friendly restaurant. We didn't have a reservation. Have dined here twice. The first time we had no problem and the food was good. The second time, while the food was fine - the service was horrible and I will not return. My husband and I each ordered a salad to go with the pizza we would share. Pizza and salad - get it?! Well, we got our salads. Began eating. Continued eating. More eating. No pizza. "The Sourdough Crust" is a must try at this place. While browsing the main street on Hudson, I came across Baba Louies and upon reading the menu off the window, The Sourdough Crust is what made me step inside. The atmosphere was very inviting with seating available outside if you are waiting for a table. We were fortunate enough to get one as soon as we entered. There was no specific host, the servers were the hosts themselves. Good enough. But problem is no communication between them. Two different servers brought over 2 glasses of water, one for myself and one for my mom. So by now my table was almost covered with 4 glasses of just water and yet no menu. 10 mins later the one who seated us realized that we didn't have a menu and she brought one over. Anyways, we placed an order for soup of the day as a starter which was tomato and barley. It was very watered down and bland. Would not recommend it. Since we wanted to try it we ordered a cup to be tasted between my mom and I. Even after a couple of requests for an additional soup spoon we weren't provided with one. For the pizza, we ordered a Baba Louie's Queen Margharita and then another which we asked to be created with veggies. Both of those did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly made crisp to our liking. One thing I would suggest is if you prefer to eat a minor portion then the small size pizza is good enough for 2 people. I am taking 1 star away just for the mishaps in service. Overall if I ever go back there I would take the pizza to go and enjoy it at the Harbor view park. read more

I heard so much about this place. I travelled a long way to eat here. Walked in, everyone was plastered with sweat and fanning themselves. So I walked out. I understand it's a hot day. But it's also July of 2019 In New York and air conditioning has got to be part of your day to day business plan during the summer months. It was hotter inside the restaurant than it was on the street. Short term solutions: -OPEN THE DOOR and let the air flow. -go to Walmart and buy some fans. -do something. Long term solution: Install proper air conditioning that takes into consideration that you are operating a wood burning stove. Every coffee shop and restaurant I visited in Hudson was pleasant to sit in and was cool and comfortable. Except the place I specifically came to eat at. Very disappointing. I don't know when I will be able to return to Hudson NY again but I will still give it another shot. I hear the food is absolutely incredible. Supposedly Baba is famous around town. My girlfriend and I stopped here after a long day hiking and enjoy the walks around town. We had stopped here for an early dinner before it got packed and it filled up quick during dinner hours! We had the date night special 2 pizza pies for $22 which seems very reasonable. I popped into Baba Louies on a cold rainy Saturday and I'd say it was a pretty good idea. It was warm and toasty inside and borderline packed. Fortunately, we were seated right away and didn't have a problem with the service at all, though it was a full house. I created my own pizza, which I probably wouldn't do again. I found the crust to be thin and tough. They're known for their sourdough pizza crust, but I just wasn't a fan. I wasn't a fan of the sauce either. It tasted like bowling alley pizza sauce, to me. A salad was also ordered at the table that was humongous. Literally, pilled on top of itself. But it received great reviews!. The winner of lunch was definitely the half tuna sandwich with the mixed greens side salad. The tuna was cold and the pumpernickel bread was warm! Freaking incredible. Their artisan pizzas are made with Sourdough crust and then wood-fired. But don't expect plain Jane toppings like pepperoni, these pizzas are one of a kind. Cool atmosphere in a cool little city. Baba Louie's is on the main drag (Warren Street) and has a quaint feel inside. This is probably listed as a pizza place but don't go in expecting a traditional slice. Their wood fired pizzas are of a gourmet variety and most items on menu are a bit eclectic. We had nachos for an app and they were good but not excellent. We had two small pizzas, I had bbq chicken with red onion and bbq sauce. My wife had one with goat cheese and dates. Both were amazing for our individual palates and made of top shelf ingredients. The crust was the star being crisp and tasty. A nice beer offering rounded out the menu. Service was decent and it was just a cool place to enjoy dinner. read more
