But I ordered ginger beef and was very pleasantly surprised that the beef was good - quality steak, and delicious! Chicken coconut soup is good. Crab soup is good. Steak Bulgogi is the best dish I've tried here. Romantic if your fellow diners remembered to hire a sitter. I would enjoy a better selection of wines. This is my go to Thai restaurant in Conyers. I'm a fan of the curry puffs, house salad with peanut dressing, massaman curry, and Thai Garden with Tofu. If you have never tried the curry puffs- You must. They are like little puffs of fried curry. Yes, I know they are not healthy, but they are delicious. I love dipping them in the cucumber sauce. The cucumber adds a fresh and cool fusion to the spicy curry. I love spicy food; however, I have not had anything here that was too spicy. If you do not like or do not desire the heat, you can request the spice to be left out. I prefer the Massaman curry with chicken. I honestly prefer this dish because I love avocado, and it has a mild flavor. It is served with potatoes, onions, red bell peppers, cashews, and rice. After reading other recent reviews, I wonder if we are eating at the same place! After living in the Duluth/ Lawrenceville areas for many years, I would say that it is definitely hard to find good international food in Conyers. For this place to claim to be authentic Thai, it is the worst that I have ever tasted!!! I have come to this place 3 times and it has been bad with every dish I have had here. Last night I went again because it is the closest and more convenient of the 3 Thai places that I know of in Conyers. I said that I would keep it basic so that I could have a good meal...WRONG!!! The Thai tea was extremely bitter and the pad thai was beyond terrible. I couldn't believe how bad it was for these most common items. Got home and opened my dish, not a peanut, bean sprout, carrot or lime wedge in sight. On top of that, the flavor of the pad thai was horrible. It was missing palm sugar, tamarind paste, fish sauce...something!?!? Where was the sweet, salty, umami??? Never had a pad thai that was so bad and I have eaten lots of Thai food. My cousin also didn't enjoy her food. She had the pad see ew. We also ordered the garlic pepper shrimp to share. Major fail!!! It was a watery, bland mess. The only thing we truly ate from our food was the spring rolls, which were just average. After sitting around and talking about how much we didn't like our $60 meal, we put away the food and shared a tuna sandwich from a little bit tuna made earlier that day for lunch. Smdh! My advice, skip Baan Thai. Stay away from "Trash in the Box" around the corner. If you have time and can find a parking spot, go to Thai Palace on Main Street in Conyers. read more

I decided to try this restaurant because I worked a few doors down at Kroger. I tried their fried rice. I'm really a low key chef but I've never tasted anything like it. I usually get the house rice with beef,chicken and shrimp. So good definitely give them a try. read more

This place is where I introduced my wife got hooked on Thai food. The setting (when they were in the Kroger shopping center - haven't been there since they moved) was dated and it looked a little run down, but the service was good and the food was also. I always go for the spicy basil chicken, and it was spot on. My wife goes for the pad kee mow with only veggies - doesn't even want tofu - and mildly spicy. While i might ask for "Thai hot" I seldom get it there, but the flavors are just right. The chicken satay and shrimp cakes are excellent. Thankfully, Conyers has three Thai restaurants and they all have good things going for them. Have been going for years older lady meet me at door after the old owners sold it we close in a few minutes. I told her I was getting take out. She was rude and told me to wait in my car. Needless to say I not happy with her lack of customer service. I have return and called in order a time or two but thankfully the gentlemen answers the phone and brings my order to my car. Maybe we hit this spot on a bad day or maybe we are just accustomed to a different kind of Thai being from Minnesota but the food here was bland & honestly pretty gross. The pad Thai had NO flavor. Nor did the curry. The Chicken Coconut soup (which I have found you usually can't go wrong with at a Thai spot) was bland & old tasting. It's like the ingredients weren't fresh & they were trying to save on seasonings. I never use Soy Sauce & I craved it eating these dishes. And there wasn't any in the bag! The portions were insultingly small for the cost. I don't know when others who posted pics went but those black rectangle containers weren't even half full when we ordered. I usually try to give a place two tries before giving a bad review unless it's an issue with service, but this place I can't stomach to try again. Especially for the price. 3 dishes and an appetizer was $80 bucks cause they add a 10% surcharge for takeout! And they don't tell you that up front when you order nor is it on their website. You find out when you get there to pick up and see the sign in the door. An extra 10% for me to walk in and back out plus save you money on a staff person to do dishes and clean up behind me? We came here for Friday lunch because we were getting our tires aligned down the street and didn't want fast food. It was about 1:30 on a Friday so not super busy. Overall, the service was good and the food started off strong but then ended up average. I came here with my husband, mother-in-law and uncle-in-law (and a wide range of experience with thai food). I lived in SE Asia for two years so I have a fair amount but I also had low expectations since we were in Conyers so I'd say this is a pretty decent place for Conyers. We were served shrimp chips when we sat down--I'm a sucker for these things so that made for a great start. I ordered chicken satay for the table b/c I'm always a fan and it was in fact good, furthering the promising start. The chicken was well cooked and juicy and peanut sauce was a good consistency (I'd give the dish a 4 out of 5). Then came the spring rolls that went with our lunch meals. Nice and crispy so 4 out of 5. For entrees, my mother-in-law and I shared a shrimp pad thai and massaman chicken. I think this may have been her first experience with Thai food so she loved it. The pad thai was pretty good, a little sweet (and Americanized) for my taste, but overall decent (probably 3 out of 5). The massaman had pretty good flavors but was a little too thin for my liking and we only got two pieces of avocado, which was disappointing. I generally like my massaman to be richer with more flavor so probably a 2.5 out of 5. My husband ordered the thai spicy curry fried rice and was pretty disappointed (to the point where he told me to write a bad yelp review and he never bothers with yelp). I'd say 1 out of 5 for that dish, probably because it wasn't spicy like he hoped, he was probably expecting more a curry and overall just lacks the flavors he wanted. Plus my mom makes a lot of fried rice at home and it's pretty incredible so its hard to compare. Finally I hear the shrimp pad see ew was ok. My uncle in law had probably 1/3 of it but this was his second lunch so he took the rest home. Net net, I'm giving 3 stars because the dishes I tasted were pretty decent for what you'd expect in Conyers. Plus the service was attentive and they let us stay past the 3pm "closing" because we were catching up (there was another table that also hung out past their closing). Food was hit or miss but I think it just really depends on how much thai food you've had and what you were expecting. Next time we're in the area though, I'd probably consider coming back b/c there aren't a lot of good options. read more

Those who think Tokyo is the best resturant in Conyers, I beg to differ. If you like Asian food and never had Thai food before and you ever so happen to live in the Conyers area, I recommend Baan Thai. The food here is cheap and affordable. They begin your meal with shrimp flavored chips that is crunchy and pops in your mouth with each bite you take. The Pad Thai brings about a bold explosion of flavors and textures. Thai Tea is delecious and probably one of my top favorite drinks. I highly recommend you try it. The Salad that comes along with the meal is pretty great and is most definitely 10 times BETTER than the "kids size" portion salad they give you at Tokyo. I don't know about you fellas, when a resturant offers you a choice of a side item...I would want it to be a rather decent amount....NOT the "five piece of lettece" salads they offer you at Tokyo. But other than the food, the people that work here are ridiculously friendly. They always have a smile on their face and you know you always feel welcome whenever you step foot inside Baan Thai. It's unfortunate that they always have very little customers, probably because of the poor location. But BECAUSE they have so little business, more than likely your face will be remembered next time you come back for a second trip. I do have to say though, the decoration of the resturant is in fact not very appealing. It's not terrible but it is rather tacky. But I guess the paper and cranyons they give you to draw on while you wait for your food makes up for the tackyness appeal. But other than that, the food is great and the staff is amazing. So, here's the thing..... Oh dear sweet jesus, i have never been so pumped for a little hole in the wall Thai dinner in my life and then so let down. Why'd you do me dirty Ba'an? I can give them a pass on the tacky decor as that's part of the authentic Thai experience, but what I cant give a pass is weirdly chewy greasy spring rolls, but the biggest problem came when my beloved Pad Sew Ew came to the table, the noodles weren't the standard Pad Sew Ew noodles(and I've got an obsession with those thick chewy noodles), the noodles and veggies were drizzled with sauce, not coated, and the tofu that was subbed for meat was the size of golf balls, and cooked in a weird way. There was just a whole lot of unforgivable sins for me at the is place. Tonight, we had the worst experience. A woman and child came in and sat in a booth directly behind us. Almost everything she ordered, we overheard some type of complaint. "Too small of order", "I want this remade", "I ordered a double", "Now remake this other dish because it's now cold" etc. After numerous attempts of trying to please this woman, she asks for a to go box, to go sweet tea and the check. Once she receives the check, she then starts complaining about price and does not want to pay for it. The owner and waitresses were very patient and professional, in my opinion, attempting to please the unappeasable. Before walking out, she blurts out how bad of a review she was going to write online. I wanted to crawl under the rock along with the employees. I will not ever understand, nor do not care to, why an adult would act like this. So, in return, I feel it is my duty to write the truth in the situation. We have been eating at Baan Thai for years. So long that the girls can remember our orders and always get everything perfect! For the most part (besides this one occurrence) it is a very pleasant, cute environment. We rarely have to wait and always get prompt service. The food is always made fresh to order and in very large portions. If you are a Thai food lover, this is your place to go! read more

It's in Kroger's shopping center.... kinda weird decor.... neons all round the windows like a modern style restaurant then you walk in a Thailand like atmosphere with gold trim table coth while the top of the table is paper.... lots of Thai pictures on the walls. Pretty authentic..... I guess.... On with the food ------------- Not much of a menu and pricey for the area.... most everything was above $10.... no salads on the menu (Som tum, Yum Nua) I ordered Coconut Soup, Massaman Curry & Mango Shrimp in Spicy Sauce..... O'boy.... for the price you'd think you get a good quantity of food but you get just nuff. The Soup was good. The Curry.... not so much.... there was an odd green thing in it....avocado chunks.... not so tasty. The Mango Shrimp was more like a Chinese dish than Thai.... yea.... not too authentic Thai..... try it for yourself.... maybe it's you cup of tea.... o'.... the Thai Tea was perfect! I just moved to Conyers and a Coworker took me here for lunch. I have been coming here ever since. I used to work in a Thai restaurant myself and can say this place is really great! Rama King with beef is probably my favorite dish here and its not easy to find at other places. Ive lived in atlanta, kennesaw, and marietta and this place is up there with the best! They have the perfect consistency for curry, good flavors, and fresh ingredients.
