Today is the second time I placed an order for vegan (tofu) dishes and they gave me meat in one of the dishes. The first time this happened, they refunded the dish via phone. I am very careful when placing my order and requesting non-meat dishes, and when I pick up my order I ask them to confirm the order is meatless/vegan. I went back because I thought this might be a one-off situation. Today, they told me they could not refund the dish on the phone and I would have to come back into the restaurant to obtain a refund and that it is not their fault, because mistakes happen. Note, the food is average and overpriced, so paying for food we cannot eat is doubly unacceptable. The manager also said they do their best but they cannot ensure that I will receive what I ordered. Seriously? Why would I order anything from a restaurant that cannot ensure I will get what I paid for? I will not go back. I have been going to Thai Palace in Conyers, GA for over 15 years, and only started going to this place sometimes over the past year because it is closer. In all those years, Thai Palace never once gotten my order wrong. If you want to make sure you are getting the food you ordered and paid for, find another restaurant. read more

After a week or so of fried food and bbq on a trip this place was a welcome find. Don't be swayed by their storefront, it's what's on the inside that counts. My wife and I arrived just before they closed but they still sat us and treated us like normal customers and not pesky late people. I've been to some restaurants that hustle you or treat you poorly the closer you come in to their closing. Enough about that though. I normally don't write bad reviews ever but this is the second time we have had an issue with this restaurant the first time we found a nail clipping in our food and we said we'd give it another chance a year later because we like the food until the second instance we found hairs in the food... so we are done for good at this restaurant. Don't let the unassuming strip mall exterior with neon lighting fool you: incredible food, atmosphere and prices! Ordered the Coconut Seafood Hot Pot which was overflowing with fresh scallops, mussels, and calamari. The broth was and the perfect mix of lemon, butter, and coconut and we ordered it with some extra spice - a 3 on a scale of 1 to 5 - and have no regrets. Less than ten bucks! The Pad Se Ew with beef was delicious, too, perfectly cooked with fresh veggies and not greasy. Will definitely return and route ALL road trips through Conyers to make it happen. read more

The family and I have dined here many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. My favorite is is the Pad Bai Ga Prow or Spicy Basil Chicken, which they have made with ground chicken at my request. But, I like their version of this dish as well. The wife and my oldest son really enjoy the Pad Thai. I've also enjoyed the Rama King and Curry dishes. The service is always excellent and the food is reasonably priced. My family has faithfully dined at Baan Thai for years even before the current owners bought the restaurant. The quality of the food has never changed and is always delicious. I often order pad Thai, coconut chicken soup, or pad si-yu and would recommend them all. We also like their chicken satay and tom yum seafood hot pot. read more

Meh. That's all I got. The shrimp red curry was boring at best. Cashew chicken had some flavor. Fried tofu was meh. I asked what the Thai coffee was and she said "it's coffee with half and half"....that doesn't sound all that special or "Thai" to me. So skipped the coffee. I had the chicken panang curry with white rice and a Singha. This was a very nice, delicious and relaxing restaurant. I'm glad I stumbled upon it while making a u-turn! The wait staff is very pleasant and prompt. One delicious variation of the dish is fresh avocado which I have never had before. this little place is a gem. I've eaten the Panang Curry, it's sort of a medium spice and only slightly sweet. I liked the peanut sauce w/ rice cakes as well, the panang is great though. Been going here for years. Always love the Shrimp Pad See Ewe. But second time I have had it and they seem to no longer be using the pink key west shrimp. These are just ordinary shrimp you get at Kroger. I know the difference and the shrimp they used to use are some of my favorite and I know the taste. Please go back to using quality ingredients. Was excied to come here but it was just soso. On the good side the vegtables were fresh and cut perfectly. I love pannag currey but this was very bland. We also had Basil chicken more like a thin gravy taste. The chicken coconut soup again very mild flavor. They gave us some shrimp chips that were very good. I am a huge fan of Thai food, well most all oriental food to be exact, and this certainly did not disappoint. Based on the suggestion of another reviewer, I tried the house salad with peanut dressing, and the massaman curry with chicken. First, the peanut dressing was amazing and the salad had not only a great taste, but a great presentation as well. Then came the massaman curry, which I had never tried before. It will now be my go to curry when I want something great and a little spicy. The chicken was cut in big pieces and expertly cooked. One thing i can't stand is over or under cooked chicken. I would recommend this to anyone. Also, the wait staff was very congenial and I imagine for this and the great food that they get many return customers. Very good service. I got pork fried rice and vegetable spring rolls. I really enjoyed the spring rolls. They were perfectly crisp. I did not enjoy the fried rice though. The taste reminded me of pepperoni pizza and I wish there would have been more greens in it. You do get a lot of food for your money though. read more

I am appalled at the customer service I received at Baan Thai! Not only from the staff, but from the owner (manager). I ordered something that I wasn't completely satisfied with because of the pungent and overwhelming peanut flavor and asked to switch it for my usual (since I frequent this place). Well, the waitress called the manager,owner, to the table where she stated that she would Be losing money if she exchanged the $11 meal. I was speechless! Really??? You actually came over and said you would be losing money for $2 worth of chicken.... I responded by letting her know that her table-side manner and customer service was deplorable! She continued speaking in an argumentative tone as I advised her that I will pay be never come back. She nonchalantly said , okay, sorry and walked away. I will never ever eat here again! New in town and searching for a great Thai place...yelp reviews led me here. I attempted to go a few weeks ago but they were closed and went to the Thai place across the street. We were not impressed by that place...and Baan Thai while better doesn't end my search for MY new Thai spot. It's an unassuming spot in a strip mall...decor is kinda funky (classic pieces and modern pieces mixed) but comfortable. We were greeted quickly. Crispy tofu app was nothing to write home about. Tofu itself was not seasoned but was fried well and the dipping sauce was tasty. I ordered red curry chicken (the standard by which I judge all Thai spots) and my son ordered shrimp pad Thai. While we waited we had these tasty rice crackers to snack on. Food arrives and my order was wrong(shrimp not chicken) The gentleman who ran our food was gone before I realized it was shrimp. Flavor of both dishes was pretty good...not the best but def not the worst. Biggest complaint besides the protein being incorrect is that I'm used to red curry having a sauce base that is almost like a soup...this dish was barely Covered and even when I asked for extra sauce I still had about a 1/3 of what I'm accustomed to. Also no apology was given for the wrong order. So in a nutshell....I'll keep searching but if I had to choose between this spot and the place across the street I'd chose here. However I hope the next place I try will be good enough that I don't have to. read more

This is some of the best Thai food I've had in and around Atlanta. I live in Atlanta now and have been to King and I and a few other notable Thai restaurants and this place has them all beat. My mom still lives in Conyers and I literally go visit her just so that I can eat at this restaurant. In addition to the food being great, the service is outstanding. I'm fairly sure it's a small family business because the same people are always there greeting and serving. This place is definitely worth a trek OTP if you're desperate for some good Thai and if you happen to be seeing this review in search of food while you're driving down I-20...GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND GO HERE NOW!!! The Coconut Soup here is what I measure all other Thai restaurants by and I've had pretty much every curry they serve, all of which are delicious. Also, any of their duck dishes are amazing AND the best priced duck I've had outside of Buford Highway (Oriental Pearl). I've only had one thing that was kind of iffy and it was some sort of fish in a sweet and tart brown sauce...I think it was fruit based. I would give them 4.5 stars for the funky fish dish but I'm rounding up because I've had a lot of 4 star Thai restaurants and this one is definitely better. I see there is at least one terrible review on here and after all the times I've eaten here i cannot imagine what happened there but every time I've been it has been great. Also, this place is great THAI food and nothing else. No Sushi bologna here...that's Japanese. I can't stand all of these places that try to combine unrelated Asian cuisine. Friendly staff. Food was so so. They were out of sweet and sour. Isn't that a staple ingredient? When they served us the Tomyum shrimp soup they told us they were still cooking the shrimp and would bring it to us later. So we had the broth of the soup but no shrimp. I came here because everyone else's reviews and pictures looked good. I've had a craving for Pad See Ew all week. I ordered it here and took it to go. There was more onion than noodle in my box. I brought it to split between me and my husband but I just gave it to him. The flavor was NOT there. It was so subtle and it made me mad cause Thai food isn't about subtle, it's filled with flavors and that's I love it so much. I was very disappointed. I wish mine looked like the pictures did for everyone else. They have potential but that just really turned me off to them. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more
