Right down the road from my place, great prices, and WOW- wonderful wonderful food (especially the pho)!! This is one of my favorites and I'm worried I'll become a regular pretty soon haha! Only negative is that my water was never refilled until I caught someone to ask. I drink a ton of water though and over do it on the spice each time, obviously not learning my lesson. Great pho for super cheap! The menu had a lot of options but they give you all the add ins to make it your own. The egg rolls were to die for! I had the #1 and the other pho was #15. So good! Will definitely coming back to this hole in the wall!! The only down fall was the waiter, I think, was the chef too. So once our food was delivered we never got checked in with. Combo pho with ribs is super yummy!!! Portion is perfect, enough to keep your belly full leaving the place. I wouldn't eat chao long or com dish. Sugarcane is very refreshing. Banh mi are fresh and crispy. We ordered plenty to bring back home. Also ordered pho to take home as well. read more

I've been to this place twice. When I first tried pho a long time ago (before it was popular in the US) I went with Vietnamese friend to a Vietnamese restaurant in Dallas. The first thing he told me is get the one with it all (brisket, flank, meat balls, tendon, tripe, etc.) because it provide the best taste. Since then I have always looked for the pho with most ingredients in the menu. So I went to this place after reading some reviews and looking up the menu. They, unlike other places, still had things like tendon and tripe on the menu. As previously mentioned, I looked for the pho that had it all and order it. When it came out I notice it only had brisket and meat balls. Since I didn't want to make a fuzz, was starving and it actually tasted good I didn't complain. I figured the old man taking my order didn't understand me right even though I pointed to the menu selection. Move forward 2-3 weeks, I decided to go back and this time make sure they got my order right. Again I order the same and made sure I clearly pointed. AND AGAIN it came out with only brisket and meatballs!!! So I went up to the counter and talked to the younger man about it. I told him it was not what I had ordered. That I wanted the one that also included flank, tendon and tripe. This is why they only get 2.5 stars...He told me they didn't carry tripe anymore because they have been there for years and their regular clientele never ordered it. Ok that's fair, but then get rid of it on the menu!!! I saw they made corrections to the prices so why not also menu items you no longer carry. He did offer to get me some tendon but I was already disappointed. Shame though, because the pho (meat and broth) was actually really good and their prices are very fair. One other suggestion, clean behind the counter. It's not a good look when your cash register is so dusty and dirty it looks like it just came out of an eternal storage. read more

So delicious I forgot to take a pic before. I have tried a couple of different plates but I always go back to the chicken pho and the spring rolls. I always enjoy my visits here, but for any newcomers remember that this is not a fancy place, the server is the host and the cashier. I believe this a family owned restaurant with the wife and son in the kitchen while the husband handles front of the house. Unfortunately that means that the service is a little slow, and once you get your food most likely he will not visit your table again, you will have to get his attention. But the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable, I will definitely be coming back. read more

Excellent pho. Have had it here four or five times. Beautiful rare beef cooks in the REALLY HOT broth. A slice of onion is a welcome addition to the flavors. Would give it five stars except for the cleanliness of the place. The owners really need to take some time off from cooking and scrub this place, floor to ceiling. read more

When we walked in the door, we were warmly greeted by the sweetest Vietnamese man. He quickly recognized my daughter because, she eats here at least twice a week. We sat at her usual table and we ordered some of our favorites. We each ordered the Grilled Pork Banh Mi Sandwich (hubby & I split one).....soooo good.....Iced Coffee w/ Condensed Milk.....WOWZZZZA, WOWZZZA WOWZZZZA! ......Cha Gio Egg Rolls (BEST I've EVER eaten!) & Hubby & I ordered the Pork Vermacelli Bowl......it's calling my name right about now! We're hooked! Ba Le is a cozy quaint little hole in the wall place that has been in the same location for 40+ years. The little strip shopping center is a little funky & has seen better days but, Ba Le was exactly what I expected. The sweet & friendly Vietnamese man works his tail off trying to serve and please each and every customer. You could instantly tell that most of the customers have been coming here for years & years. I heard somewhere that pho is a good hangover cure. After rocking a Defcon 2 hangover all day, I decided I needed to put this theory to the test. A quick Yelp search for pho within a few miles of my house showed one result: Ba Le. Not convinced that I was going to find great pho but unable to drive any further, I crawled to the car and headed for Ba Le. After reading the other reviews, I was expecting a crappy (i.e. dirty) hole-in-the-wall that would give my pickled bloodstream a run for its money. What I found was a friendly owner (who was leaving as I pulled up and who came back in to cook my food) and an adorable little restaurant that was not only spic-and-span clean, it smelled like Vietnamese heaven. Once I got home with my pho and egg rolls I was tickled when I unpacked everything. The meat and veggies were packed in a container and the broth was packed in a large cup. I guess this is the standard to-go method for pho but I was pleased by this discovery. The broth was hot enough to cook the meat (I'd worried about overcooked meat and lukewarm broth on the drive home) and I had fun putting it all together. I'm no expert on pho but this is by far the best pho I've tried yet. The egg rolls had meat in them, which I didn't expect, and were crunchy goodness. Flash forward to the next day when all I could think about was trying a Banh Mi. In the light of day, Ba Le was even cuter and more inviting. The large TV was showing Hairspray and the smells when I walked in confirmed my lunch craving. I couldn't decide between a steamed ham and a shredded chicken Banh Mi, so I got one of each. At $2.50/ea. this was a very affordable experiment. I preferred the ham to the chicken and was happy with the addition of mayo (is that authentic? no clue). I also got another order of pho to put in my fridge for later. For $4.95 how could I not? I'm pleased as hell to have found this little neighborhood gem. I've read of Vietnamese restaurants that offer mouth-watering food on the cheap but have yet to actually find one. Now that I have, Ba Le will be seeing quite a bit of me. read more

Fricking yum! At least the stuff I've eaten here which are the banh mi (sub sandwiches). I am Vietnamese and my whole family like this place the best. I think they really got their French bread rolls down. It's soft, fresh and buttery. Even if we don't get the sandwiches, we'll buy a couple of bags of just the bread to take home and eat with other things. We usually order the Dac Biet (special combination) sub. But I specifically like the meatball subs the best. I think it's called xiu mai. Plus to finish it off. I always get a cup of freshly squeezed sugar cane juice! Makes the trip worth it. Generally Vietnamese food are pretty cheap. But this place charges a tiny bit more than other Vietnamese places. Still. It's cheaper than a lot of food out there and it'll fill you up. read more

This is a nice, humble business that serves good, cheap food. I was lucky we arrived when we did at 7:15. When another couple came in at 7:35, the owner told them they were closed. My friend ordered Thai Tea, but we both got one. I never had Thai Tea before, but it was quite an experience. It had a tomatoey base without any acidity. It wasnt loaded with sugar, so it was pleasant to drink. I ordered Rice Paper Spring rolls, and the #36(shredded and sliced pork vermicelli with an array of vegetables. The spring rolls were surprisingly good, even though I wasnt expecting them to be cold. The vermicelli was soft but not mushy. The pork was excellent in flavor and texture. The vegetables were fresh and they give you a big bowl for a cheap price. A small hole-in-the-wall Viet restaurant (mom and pop kinda establishment). Very mismatched decor, old school tv, you know......the whole deal. Service is very friendly (from the man more than the woman though). Pho isn't as flavorful as what I'm used to (on the bland side). Portions and prices are decent. I found this place on Yelp. I'm a Real Estate Investor and I travel throughout the DFW metro area daily. The first time I saw the restaurant I declined to eat there. If don't judge a book by its cover has ever been true, then this a perfect example. A couple months later I was in the neighborhood again so said I'm going to try it. Best decision I ever made. It's a small unassuming spot in a strip mall. Nothing spectacular here to see. But the food is AWESOME!! Service is good. Friendly staff. Beef Pho is the best I've had in DFW area. I'm still ordering it. It was moderately spicy and very rich broth with lots of meat mixed in with the rice noodles. I swear, their Bun Bo Hue had more meat than 4 Pho dishes at any other Viet place. The insane amount of ingredients and freshness of the ingredients made this place a bargain. Their vietnamese coffee is very strong and a definite eye opener. However, he doesn't have you make it with the little viet press at your table. He makes it in the back and gives it to you in a styrofoam cup. Anyways, if you're in the area, be sure to drop by. Came here a few times now and I love this place. It is the most authentic and delicious Vietnamese restaurant in Dallas. I've had the Chicken Pho, BBQ Pork Chicken and Shrimp Flat Rice Noodle Soup, Chicken and Fish Flat Rice Noodle Soup, and the Bun Bo Hue. For the banh mi, I've had the shredded chicken and BBQ pork. All the broths have exceptional flavor. But I must warn you, there's alot of fat in these broths. It's part of the reason why they taste so good I guess. So if you're on a diet, you should take caution when coming here. My favorite is the chicken and fish flat rice noodle soup. The chicken and fish are tender and the broth is this flavorful pork broth. My favorite kind of noodles are the flat rice noodles and this dish has it too! All and all very very good. The bun bo hue has such an authentic and flavorful taste. I'd say the heat level is in between medium and hot. BE CAREFUL not to slurp too fast otherwise you may be choking on the spicy broth for a good 5 minutes. The chicken pho is great too! In my opinion, a homemade broth of pho is pretty hard to get right. The shredded chicken and bbq pork banh mi are the best banh mi's I've ever had. The meats have so so so so so much flavor. The bread is soft (and not the kind that are hard enough to injure your mouth). Great stuff! Kim is the owner, cook, and server of this fine little place. I'm so over this place. The owners are so disrespectful. I called to the restaurant to put in a to go order and they told me I can only place to go orders in person. So I arrived and I wanted the rice plate with everything on it and he told me that they only do meat and rice because "everything else is too much work" . That surprised me. I asked for the noodle with veggie, meat and egg rolls and he said he doesn't do egg rolls. Not because he doesn't have any, because he doesn't want to fry them. Not coming here ever again. Been here three times with my daughter and never going back. They always give her the child portion of pho but charge the same price for both. We never even ask for the kid size portion. They just assume she wont finish it and gives her less of everything in the bowl. The 1st time I just chalked it up as a mistake, but when it happened the next 2 times I just realized these people are dishonest. I asked for a receipt but they wouldn't give me one. I've been wanting to go here after reading some of the reviews and seeing some of the pictures, but I'm rather disappointed in this place. I got there around 10:45, they were open and had a few people in there so that was a good sign. I ordered the rice platter (I'm Vietnamese and ordered in Vietnamese) and the first thing the guy said to me is it'll take 15 minutes because they don't have the stuff ready. He said that their main customers are Americans and only order Pho, which they can make in a minute or less. I was ordering take out and did not want to bother with the soup, so I told him I'd wait for the rice platter. He went in the back and I can hear a woman raising her voice at him (I'm guessing she's the owner from previous reviews??). Got my order 15 mins later and drove home. When my husband and I tried the grilled pork, it was just bleh (nothing spectacular). The other stuff that came with it (egg cake, etc) was not good at all! We pretty much ate a bit of the pork and threw everything else away. I'm happy that I can cross this place off my "must try" list, but I would not come back or recommend anyone else going here if they want something besides Pho. read more

The food here is pretty good, but it is very salty and the portions can be deceptively small at times. We loved the pho, and the chicken and beef is real chicken and beef, not that Chinese mystery meat. Perhaps the only major complaint I have about this place is its location. It's not in a great area. The day before we came here, cops arrested a guy who had gone on a string of burglaries before being beat up by a homeowner's son. I highly suggest ordering out and eating at home. A good meal will run you about $25 for two people, so it is not expensive. Also, I put pictures of the menu online so you can see exactly what you can order. The couples that own this place are older and the gentleman is usually the one that takes our order. It might take him a while to come around and take the orders but the food comes out pretty quickly. The food is tasty! My husband and I always have extra to take home. When you arrive, the sign above the location says 'Vietnamese Cuisine' so if you see that, you're in the right place! I personally tried the large bowl of beef pho and tell me tell you right now that is the best-cheapest pho so far...I've had better pho for a couple more bucks..but this is definitely on top of my list! Along with the pho I had spring rolls which were pretty awesome and the peanut sauce that goes with it was just the right amount of peanut-y. My sister ordered the egg rolls and it was definitely the most authentic egg rolls I've tried....ever! The service was good as well. As soon as we sat down, we were approached and our order was taken. The menu was also pretty extensive which was pretty cool because that just means lots of options! Yay!
