I do not recommend Orlando. Stay away and find another. I may be suing him for doing a partial job and not finishing the work. He does not communicate. He doesn't return messages. His mailbox was full. He doesn't make his appointments and you wouldn't finish the work. So I had to hire a different electric to do the job. Very sloppy and he did not permit the work and lied about a warranty. He left no paperwork. I was reading Angelo D.'s detailed review and noticed how similar my experience with Batres Electrical was to his. The one key difference was that I received the services of a pair of technicians, not the owner himself. I didn't think that would've made a difference, but it did for reasons I didn't anticipate and obviously couldn't control. It started when my garbage disposal suddenly stopped working. I decided to send a Yelp service request to address this and several issues I had been having with my lights. To the owner's credit, he responded quickly and was willing to do the job in San Francisco even though he is based in San Jose. I asked him whether this could be a logistical problem to which he confirmed it was not. First of all, I don't begrudge electricians who come late for valid reasons, but given the owner gave a designated day and time, it would make sense to give a window to allow me a less ambiguous expectation of arrival. Two guys arrived about 2-1/2 hours late. One appeared more professional than the other guy and assessed the work that needed to be done. I'll refer to him as the senior technician. There were three components to the job, nothing remotely complex according to the senior technician: (1) replacement of the garbage disposal unit, (2) replacement of under-cabinet lights and hard-to-reach track light bulbs; and (3) rewiring of track lighting operated by two different switches. We agreed on when they would return to do the job. This time, they were even later in their arrival for the actual job, so much so I needed to reschedule another meeting. The senior technician finally arrived but with a different colleague. The senior technician handled the first two components of the job and delegated the third task, the rewriting, to his colleague. Items (1) and (2) were addressed without incident. Item (3) was mishandled. First, they replaced a switch with one that operated differently from the rest of the lights, including the switch right next to it on the same plate (photo: https://bit.ly/37ZTHts). I asked them about it, and the senior technician told me that was the only option available. The second problem from item (3) wasn't as obvious. In the daylight, the track lighting appeared to turn on. However, that evening, I noticed the lights were severely dimmed at full capacity. Be aware that I had already paid the senior technician before he left because he said there was a two-year warranty on the work. This was when the real problem began. Using the Yelp messaging feature, I contacted the senior technician to set up a follow-up appointment within the next few days to address the issues related to (3). He agreed and then didn't show up. He didn't respond to my inquiry on when I could expect him. I waited a couple of hours and contacted the owner. We agreed on another day and time, and again, no one showed up. I waited another two hours, so at this point, i was frustrated by two broken appointments over the course of the week. I contacted the owner who indifferently maintained someone was coming. No one showed up that day. No one has called me in the six weeks since this last call and eight weeks since first contact. As a seasoned Yelper, I have learned not to react emotionally to a bad experience with a gut-punch one-star review. On balance, there were good parts to the job I asked them to perform. The key problem for me relates to a lack of accountability on the quality of their work and an unwillingness to address needed fixes after they receive payment. I didn't anticipate the degree of non-response exhibited by the company. As a customer who ended up paying a four-digit invoice, I received no apology from anyone at Batres. From this experience, I learned not just to scan the brief positive reviews, especially the ones from people who have reviewed little if anything else. I will make a point of reading thoughtful reviews like what Angelo D. chronicled. I will also use the Verified License badge as more of a filter than I have. As of 5.18.2022, Batres does not have one. Lastly, I found out later that the light switch that they installed was wrong and that it could've been easily replaced. I will learn to invest my trust more wisely in the future. read more

Unprofessional, unreliable, poor quality of work are three things that define Orlando's work trading as 'Orlando Batres', 'Batres Electrical' and 'Four Brothers Electrical', together with his brother/friend Adrian Lopez. I never got an invoice for any work undertaken by Orlando and his 'team'. It is even unclear to me if they're licensed in California and their website has been taken down too. Orlando has left me with a faulty electrical panel for which I already paid $2,400 and he refuses to answer to my calls, text messages, etc. Zero response. Three licensed electricians have taken a look at the panel and all three agree that what he did is unprofessional and has to be fixed asap. Him and his team are extremely unreliable. They will agree on appointments and then show up several hours late, show up without the right tools to do the job or simply don't show up at all (he's never showed up on time for an appointment in the 3-4 jobs he's done for me). Then I had to almost beg him to come to do the work or finish what he was doing. Until one day he stopped answering to calls and texts and left us with a expensive mess and having to contact a proper electrician/company to do the work for us. Don't do business with Orlando or his team, feel free to DM me if you need more details but save yourself a headache and money. Augustine and Orlando did a great job of installing three NEMA 5-15, 6-20, and 14-50 plugs for us to charge our electric bike and electric car. They arrived on time, did the work in just a couple hours, explained everything they were going to do, and demonstrated the right 110 and 220 power coming out of the newly installed plugs. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this company!! I am new to office management in SF and basically starting from scratch building my blackbook of contractors to help me remedy issues in our office. I sent out quotes on yelp, and Batres responded back sooo fast! Bonus points considering I'm an Exectuive Assistant and sometimes get urgent tasks that seem impossible but Batres DELIVERED I work at a startup so we try to be as scrappy as can be so I asked if I was able to purchase the hardware to save money, to which they obliged and told me exactly what was needed in order to work. Love love love that because I am a couponer and love finding things at a great price (which a lot of companies won't due just because of the inconvenience). Super score there!! So I scheduled a walk through and then ordered all the equipment. One project was a recessed outlet for our Vestaboard. They were able to put a line where one seemed nonexistent for it to work and it looks like our board is just floating in the middle of the wall. My boss LOVES it (which is required lol)!! Our other project was to put sensor light switches in our conference rooms. We have one office and recently expanded to the suite across from ours which us where the electrical work was taking place. In the old office I showed him the lights witches and he showed me how the previous tennant basically Jerry rigged the stand alone sensors to the ceiling (which is actually preferred in the Startup world ). Most businesses wouldn't dare reveal that because he could've easily taken advantage of my not knowing but he didnt!! So not only are they super easy going and helpful, reliable, responsive, all that good stuff, but their HONEST!! I feel like I found a hidden gem Prior to Batres I was using a different unnamed-3-letter-acronym electrical company and had the worst experience. When I met the electrician I told him I'm not well versed in electricity (I wear many hats but that's a lot lol). Unfortunately he didn't seem to have the patience for that as he would respond quite snappy and matter of factly (I research a lot as to not waste people's time so I'm not just throwing random questions at anyone). I was literally almost begging him to help us with our electrical project because so many other electricians were booked beyond our deadline. Eventually he stopped responding altogether (I believe mainly in part due to us not spending a fortune and trying to find ways to lower costs because we're a startup, so if you want to be treated kindly you gotta $$$$). I will not be working with Orlando again. I am dissatisfied with his lack of professionalism, his lack of communication, and the poor quality of his work. I've had difficulty nailing down Orlando to fix the work he performed at my house. On multiple occasions he has committed to a time and flaked out without any notice. Here's my timeline of events: Friday - First discussion with Orlando Friday morning after I reach out on Yelp, says he might be able to do the work that day. Friday comes and goes, no notice that he won't make it. No worries, electricians are busy and he was doing me a favor squeezing me in. Monday - Orlando actually comes out to do the work (install 2 outdoor outlets). He's pretty quick once onsite and is actually done much faster than I anticipated. Once he leaves I actually test the plugs and one of them doesn't work! Call him immediately but he'd already gotten on the freeway to another job, requests that he come the next day to fix it. Okay. Tuesday - I call Orlando in the morning to schedule a time for him to come, he says he'll come after he finishes another job but before 3:30PM. He no shows, no notice, no text, no call. Wednesday - I text Orlando in the morning to schedule a time that fits into his schedule. I tell him I don't mind if he's not able to come back for a couple days, I just want to be able to schedule a time and day so I know when to expect him. No response or word from Orlando all day. Thursday - I call Orlando in the morning, he says he WILL FOR SURE come today (his words). He no shows again, no notice, no text, no call. I text him at 3:30PM and call him at 4:30PM - get nothing back. I've given Orlando multiple opportunities to make this right and I feel like I've been really accommodating to his schedule, but he keeps standing me up and wasting my time. I've since had to hire another electrician to fix his work. I personally would not put much stock behind the 1-year workmanship warranty he offered because of my experience. It was just a normal Friday night for me, and i decided to mount a piece of networking equipment to a wall. No big deal. Unfortunately, that wall happened to be on the other side of wires leading our electrical panel. Unfortunately, I drilled through a wire. Unfortunately, sparks flew out of the hole I drilled, I smelled burning, and my drill bit was now blackened. Hmm... not a great way to cap off my evening. After doing some googling, seeing that the breaker flipped, and not smelling additional burning, I became (mostly) convinced that I was not in imminent danger. I went on Yelp, did a quick search, and found Orlando from Batres Electrical. I could not have asked for a better experience. 1) Orlando showed up on time. 2) He diagnosed the problem quickly, told me he would have to make a small cut in the wall, but was able to do so from within a closet so there was no eyesore. 3) He gave a reasonable price. 4) He completed the work quickly, professionally, and with no mess. 5) He helped me mount that piece of networking equipment! Where do I start? This whole experience has been frustrating to say the least. I contacted Orlando through the other Yelp account to install some recessed lightings to our single home. Apparently, there are a few pages under the same people 'Batres Electrical' 'Four Brothers Electrical' and why you ask. When I reached out to Orlando, he immediately responded and answered all of my questions. I was told to text him our address and he would let me know his availability. He went MIA for a few days - unprofessional but I thought our conversation on the phone was great so I wanted to give him a chance. I should have listened to my gut instinct and a few 1-star reviewers. When I was able to finally get a hold of Orlando, we scheduled for him and his team to come to do the job. Everything sounded great when he said that the they would guarantee the job for 3 years and to give him my email so he can send the paperwork over. I received nothing. Now, that is how this whole thing started. Orlando came with 3 other people and completed the job in 3 hours. There was no invoice or any paperwork for me to sign. We gave him a check and that was the end of it. After a few months, I noticed one of our lights isn't as bright or doesn't turn on at times. I went ahead and contacted Orlando to check it out. It took 2 months, many texts and phone calls to get him to come. When Orlando finally came, he told us that there was nothing wrong with the wiring and it was manufactures defect. I was like, ok so how can we get this fixed? Orlando said he would replace it since he bought the parts. Then, he went MIA on me AGAIN! I texted and messaged him on Yelp to find that Yelp page does not exist anymore. I then called and Orlando gave me some lame excuse that he mailed in the manufacture guarantee and was still waiting for the replacement and told us that he would be here the upcoming Monday. To my surprise, he did a no call no show. I called and we reschedule, again did not come as promised. This had happened 3 times until I realized that this guy is not coming. SO SO UNPROFESSIONAL. What kind of business is this guy doing seriously ??? Now I get why they keep creating new Yelp pages. I could easily go buy another light but I am furious because he wasted so much of my time. Orlando is a life-saver! A few of our outlets went out a couple weeks ago, and my poor roommate has been having to work from common space in our house due to having no power in her room. We reset our breaker but it didn't do anything, and were worried it was a much bigger electricity problem for the house. Orlando responded directly to a request for a quote on yelp, within minutes of me posting it. He told me to text him, didn't charge for a quote or estimate and drove up right away from San Jose to San Francisco on a Tuesday. He showed up quickly, wearing a mask. and the fix was super quick. He found a main breaker in the house that none of the current tenants new about! He has super reasonable prices and very professional. Cares about not ripping off customers and providing high-quality and reliable support. Very bad guy. Didn't complete the project. Ran away with $1000 just fixing the 2 fans, in which one of them doesn't even turn on. Not receiving our calls and not replying to our messages. We read the review on yelp and thought that he may be a good guy, he is the worst. Don't give any projects to him. We had requested to fix 7 lights and 3 fans and he said he will charge $3000 for altogether. First day he came and said fixing the fans is easy upstairs because he will have access to attic and he installed fans given by us. It was totally a easy work, so he did that. We said we will pay the money later and he was not agreeing so finally we ended up paying him $1000. He came at 12 noon and by 3pm he started telling I have a daughter she is in home I need to go blah blah blah and he took money and never turned up the next day or anytime after that. We already paid the money through Zelle and we are very upset/ disappointed with him. I request everyone not to give any project to this guy. We are also talking to our attorney on his license.
