B&W Bakery 314 Main Street Hackensack, NJ 07601 Cannoli French Pastry Napoleon Beehive Black & White Cookie Clown Cupcake And The Heavy Crumb Cake As soon as you step inside, you will witness all of the attractive, delicious delicacies this local spot has to offer! The clown cupcake was all right. The artistic appearance was impressive, but it looks better than it tastes. Aside from that, everything else is a home run. You don't need to be afraid of their version of the beehive. This tasty pastry is filled with Bavarian cream and a touch of honey. The napoleon had so many multiple layers of the puff pastry and Bavarian cream. You couldn't ask for more. I especially admired the symmetrical design at the top. The winner of the race is undoubtedly B&W's signature item: the heavy crumb cake! The bottom is soft and spongy while the top is covered with gigantic chewy crumbs and lots of powdered sugar. The crumb cake is only sold by the block, but you won't have to worry about leftovers. I guarantee everyone will devour it within a day or two. Overall, this is an awesome local spot that sells a decent variety of baked goods! Make sure you bring cash because they do not accept credit card or Apple Pay. #bakery #napoleonpastry #crumbcake #frenchpastry #cannoli #beehivecake #blackandwhitecookie #hackensacknj

This bakery is excellent! There's a reason why the line is out the door. Cash only! Lots of yummy choices to choose from. Very popular spot and has delicious, famous crumb cake! People were buying it in bulk. Inside is a typical style bakery.

Finally got to try the crumb cake! I never tried it before since it's just me and my husband and no way we could finish one alone. So I decided to pick one up for a housewarming we were going to. It was a Saturday at around noon, and there were a few people waiting in line. But shortly after we ordered, came the rush. They sell it whole (I don't believe they do slices), which is probably the size of one of Entenmann's crumb cakes. But this one is much better - though I'm sure there is just as much butter and sugar. The best part is that it only cost about $11. We bought a few other items too, including cannolis, eclairs, and petit fours. The petit fours come out to about $1 a piece but these were way too sweet for us. There was an almond danish that caught my eye, so I'll definitely have to come back to try that. Tip - cash only

This bakery has it all and then some! Don't forget to bring cash or use their atm machine! Cupcakes and cookies are under $2!!! The pecan ring with cream is to die for!!! They also has like tartlets with raspberry flavor I know their crumb cake is infamous but I wasn't keen on it! The staff were very patient and friendly with me as I was overwhelmed!

This is the second time I've been here, and I should have come a lot more often (although I can't even remember the first time because it was almost 9 years ago!) I bought: - the cream horn, which was heavenly; the cream was fluffy and not overly sweet - the almond ring, which was a nice surprise as it had almond paste inside The service was friendly and quick. See you soon!

Crumb cake. What more do you need. What more do you want ? It goes good for breakfast, it goes great for dessert. It goes fine for lunch, and for dinner it won't hurt. This place has the best crumb cake. If you can find another place that does it better, I dare you bring me a piece of that right now and we'll see. Until then; I'll be eating this crumb cake as often as I can.

B&W Bakery in Hackensack, NJ. "Home of the Famous Heavy Crumb Cake". Serving Hackensack, NJ for over 90 years, this institution is famous for their crumb cake but it's worth checking out their other goodies like the cherry cheesecake! This place is an institution! It is cash only and more of a take out bakery-so there is no seating but totally worth a trip! Insta: @thehungrysw

Delivery of heavy crumb cake via Goldbelly app/site. Dec 2023
    Chip R.

Bottom line: Delicious heavy crumb cake delivered to me as a gift by use of the Goldbelly app/site. Quite a bit of settling occurred with the crumb topping but did not affect how tasty and moist it was, I enjoyed it. The Deets: Some good friends of mine sent me some holiday cheer in the form of B&W Bakery's "Famous Heavy Crumb Cake" as their website states, with delivery by the Goldbelly app/site. Delivery service happened within 48 hours it appears using Goldbelly. Being shipped from NJ to NC, yes, there was some settling that occurred to the cake of course but only noticing that a lot of the bigger crumb pieces (some were quite large!) were concentrated on one side post shipping but I was happy to receive this bakery goodness...see pics. I can see why it's known as "famous" in that it was delicious and actually more moist than I had anticipated it to be after shipping. Perfect to have with a good cup of coffee or some milk, this treat is pretty tasty and see how it earned "famous" indeed. I found it a good holiday treat to enjoy between Christmas and New Year's Day, very thankful of this gift!

Maybe the piece we got was older? The cake was more bread like than anything and the crumbs tasted like saw dust. This was very disappointing

    Ask the Community - B & W Bakery

Will you ever sell online? Im always looking for a great & delicious crumb/coffee cake. I saw the one you sent Jimmy Fallon & I almost fell through my phone to get a piece. I hope you consider going online. Thanks, RS

They ship nationwide through Goldbelly. I've only had their crumb cake locally though, so I can't speak to the quality with shipping.

How do they sell the crumb cake? Is it by the sheet? Also how much is it?

They sell it by the slab, I'd say it could serve 6-8 people. It's $8

Is their original name of B & W Bakery Boering and Weimar - not sure of spelling?

Yes, it was boerntrager and weimer sp?

    Do they do mail order?

I just saw in Facebook that they do

At one location I frequented, the coffee had really disappointed me. Once upon a time, their coffee was delicious, with rich, chocolatey notes, but the last few visits left me with bitter, almost burnt-tasting drinks, and no amount of milk could fix it. This was surprising, since they supposedly use LavAzza beans. I also never loved their cakes; I often found them too heavy on icing and light on actual cake. However, on a recent trip while shopping at 99 Ranch Market (which is conveniently right next door), we decided to give Paris Baguette another try and treat ourselves to pastries. I was immediately impressed by their selection and how frequently the display was refilled. Every item was behind a glass case, which felt very clean and hygienic. The cashiers were great at making the hot beverages, and they asked if we had a rewards program with them. We gave them our phone numbers, and it turned out none of us had signed up or that they expired. Here's what we purchased: - Cafe Mocha - 5/5 stars. Perfect balance of espresso and chocolate. The barista even made a heart on top. Although the lid covered it, the gesture was appreciated. - Cold Brew - 5/5 stars. Smooth and refreshing. - Chausson aux Pommes - 4/5 stars. A French apple turnover with a perfectly crisp crust and tender, flavorful apples that weren't mushy. - Croissant Donut - 5/5 stars. Flaky, buttery croissant-like in shape of a donut, filled with custard that was bright due to the citrus, and well-balanced between sweet and savory. - Blueberry & Cream Brioche - 5/5 stars. Their crust was crispy and light. It was an indulgent treat that was well balanced as the custard was rich, soft, and just sweet enough without being heavy. Patrons can help themselves to cream, milk, utensils, and napkins, which is convenient. The seating is roomy and relaxing, perfect for lingering over coffee and pastries. It's located in the Home Depot strip mall. Parking is usually easy on weekdays, but weekends can get a little hectic. Overall, this visit completely changed my opinion of Paris Baguette. The coffee and pastries were impeccable, and the environment made for a pleasant, stress-free experience. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby.

Very clean, bright, and warm look. It was a busy Sunday morning, but the employees worked quickly and efficiently. Their cake menu has a huge variety of options - fruity flavors, chocolate, Asian-inspired flavors, etc. I ordered the Raspberry Lemon cake (~$45). Yes, their cake prices are on the steeper end... but they are beautifully decorated, elegant, made with high quality ingredients, and freshly baked on-site every day. The cake was packaged in a specially designed box. I loved the functionality of it; it was sturdy with handles for you to hold at the top. It even came with a complimentary cake cutter, matches, and Mother's Day cake topper! My mom and family enjoyed the cake. It was light, fruity, and zesty! Not overly sweet at all. The buttercream frosting was made out of raspberry cream cheese. The cake was moist and fluffy, with a taste similar to lemon pound cake. It had layers of raspberry and lemon filling. It was topped with yellow and pink piping for a vibrant pop of color. I would definitely come back here to get cakes for a special occasion.
