Oatmeal Pancakes
Paige K.

We were pleasantly surprised by Azul 18! We came Saturday morning around 10:45 and were seated right away. I ordered a BYO omelette and a side order of the oatmeal pancakes. I got egg whites, ham, peppers and onions. The omelette came with potatoes, which were crispy and tasty! The pancakes were soft and had good texture. I didn't really get the orange flavor of the syrup but still enjoyable. Would prob try a diff flavor next time. My husband got the waffle sandwich with chorizo and eggs. He enjoyed it, it was solid! Good portions for the cost. Good service.

Went here for the first time last weekend. It was a great experience! The service was friendly and quick for weekend brunch time. The food was delicious! Loved the pancakes. Next time I'd love to try some other dishes and try some drinks as well!

This was my first time eating here. I was very pleased with the chilaquiles verdes. I am a vegetarian and I'm glad that they were able to serve it without the meat. Food was delicious, atmosphere was "brunchy" and they have mimosas. I was there to help celebrate my friend Diana's birthday and they were able to accommodate her large part of friends. Server was friendly, fun and easy to talk to. Very accommodating. I'd visit and eat here again. I recommend you visit.

This place was the only restaurant on the street that we could get a table for a big group right away - though it looked more like it's popular during brunch, they still had a big dinner menu and margarita options. I tried the la toxica mezcal drink and the mango jalapeño margarita. Both were deliciously refreshing on this hot day. Our big group shared two orders of Cochinita pibil (Mexican pork) nachos. These were tasty and good to share. I also got the steak salad for my entree, which was fresh and delicious. My boyfriend's enchiladas though were just okay and nothing special though. Overall, this place was clean with nice ambiance and good food overall. The service was pretty slow though as we had to repeat a couple of orders and remind them.

Azul 18, not to be confused with Azul Mariscos is a great brunch spot in the Pilsen area. I visited on a Sunday morning, and there was plenty of street parking available. The restaurant has about 30 tables, but some of the table spacing is pretty tight, so if you have big hips like me, you'll be comfy seating on the bench seats, but squeeze your body in between the tables and be careful not to hit the patron sitting next to you! The menu has some classic items like waffles and pancakes, but their Mexican entrees are tasteful. Everything was good and I would definitely go back! We tried the following: Orange Strawberry Kiwi Juice Mexican Beignets with Raspberry Jam and Nutella Mexican Omelette with Refried Beans Short Stack of Pancakes Chilaquiles with Braised Short Ribs, Eggs, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Pico de Gallo, Queso and Hominy

Carrot, raisin and pecan pancakes

Went this past Sunday, my caramel hot latte was delicious not over sweet nor bitter. The carrot, pecan and raisin pancakes were amazing. Along with the rest of our order. Cute place welcoming for sure. It was clean just a recommendation that the waitress comes to check on you not just when you need to order something additional.

The server took 20 minutes just to bring us water. It took a long time for the food to come, just to fi a hair in my fruit.

This place was such a gem to come across! I was visiting Chicago and my best friend and i couldn't find too many places open for brunch on a Monday! But we came across this on Tiktok and I thoroughly enjoyed this brunch! I've been thinking about the Chilaquiles since I left! We ordered Beignets to share which were really good! They weren't your typical Beignets, they were a bit thicker, but I really liked the texture! I ordered the Spicy Chilaquiles and substituted my meat with the Turkey Chorizo! Super good! They were definitely spicy, but they were so flavorful! I loved them. We also got some green juice to start, I was sort of under the impression that it probably wasn't homemade from the way it tasted. It was good, but it tasted like it may have been in a bottle previously. The service here was really good and our server was very kind! I definitely would revisit when i'm in town!

Came for brunch and ordered their famous chilaquiles, and boy did it pack a bunch of flavors and the spicy habaneros punched me right in the mouth! I was surprised however to find that their menu is slightly overpriced, and to pay ~$20 for my chilaquiles I wished the portion was larger. The ambiance was cute, it gives a homey feel inside and the service from our waitress was good. It was worth to come check out, but not sure if I'd go out of my way to come again.

Cute spot! Good brunch, nice service, outdoor seating. Chilaquiles were delicious, mole crepes also good. Ordered the mimosas and the bottle is la marca- great choice! Only comment would be to bring ice to put the Prosecco on to keep it cold. Enjoyed our brunch!

I never have a complaint when I come here. Service is always great and fast. Everyone is friendly. I always order the same thing because the chilaquiles never disappoints. The house pancakes are a most. The space is kind of small but when I go I haven't had an issue with being sitted right away. It rarely go on weekends.

Guys do not skip off on the lattes and the cappuccinos!!!! They were divine. Our server was so attentive and sweet. We ordered the steak and eggs, traditional Benedict, lobster Benedict, chicken sandwich. The food was amazing and fresh. Service was top notch and so was the food. Saturday is packed, might have to wait for a bit but worth it in the end. Very cozy little restaurant at the corner they do have outdoor seating I believe. Full bar. Street parking only and for a Saturday we did struggle. Overall 10/10 A MUST!

So, y'all!!!! Everything was AWESOME!!! We started with mimosas in honor of St. Paddy's day!! They were green and delicious!!! Then we got the hash. I ordered corned beef hash. My friend got pork belly hash. Mine was better . The service was fast and friendly and the space was inviting.

Halfway through the chorizo omelette, sooo good!

Do I need to make a reservation for a Sunday brunch?

I have been on a Sunday before and had no issue! Mind you that was also in the summer with the outdoor seating open, but you should be fine I'd think.

Can you bring your own beer to here?

I don't think so as they have a bar there too. You can call and ask.

But what I will say is all the fanfare is well deserved. We did the chef's counter reservation at 6pm, and while I was apprehensive to chat with the chefs while they were working, I loved being able to see all the magic behind putting together probably the best meal I've had in the past year or more. We skipped the wine pairing and didn't miss it at all as the cocktails in themselves felt like mini-courses with how inventive they were. Almost every dish surprised us in some small way, either in the amount of ingredients incorporated, or with just how artistic it looked (and usually both). We were so impressed that we're excited to try and find a way to muster up the energy to check out their 10pm taco omakase. Fun little bites. 3/5: OK (3) * Ravioli: Ravioli inside was rich, but overly so. Nice corn sauce but there was a corn component on the outside of the dish that had an unpleasant chewy flavor. * Tacos Dorados/Bluefin Tuna/Toasta: Love the idea of taco flight, and a great mix of textures. The front door host was SUPER engaging and made us feel immediately welcome. The restaurant is trendy with a very hip vibe and the requisite interior decor to match. We were ushered by our waitress through a very nice indoor dining room to an outdoor dining area table for two. I noticed the outdoor dining also incorporated large sections suitable for big parties. Service here is very very attentive, starting with the fact that, I asked for a different type of chair finding the metal ones to be slightly confining. Our waitress, Caoimhe, was so hospitable in bringing a much more comfortable chair immediately. We ordered some alcohol drinks, a Pisco Punch and a beer. The Pisco was something new for myself and I found it refreshing. For light dinner, we ordered items to share. We both really liked the Piña Colada Ceviche. It was so delicious...the tuna pairing well with pineapple, jalapeño, coconut, cilantro and served with taro chips. Would definitely get it again! We also ordered three tacos. One al pastor, one shrimp and one barbacoa...with our favorites being the first two in that order. The barbacoa was dead last. Although it was tasty, I felt it needed a sauce to bring up what I felt was lacking in moisture. The corn tortillas of all the tacos were fine. We also asked for a side of rice and beans. Apparently they don't do refried beans so our waitress Caoimhe, suggested their black rice. Honestly, it was just ok and we found that a little salt & pepper made it a little better. I'd suggest the chef try cooking the black rice in a rich chicken stock. Should I return, I'd like to try the adobo glazed shrimp or the fire roasted salmon...they sound interesting. All in all, Pilsen Yards left me with a good impression of a new type of Mexican restaurant. The menu is definitely curated with the mindset of "less is more". This isn't your little neighborhood taqueria or old school Mexican restaurant with fifty different food options, refried beans and rice or chiles rellenos. What actually made the experience memorable...was the good service of the staff and if you're really "nice", the amicably amazing host may invite you to peek into their VIP "Alderman Room". Pilsen Yards is definitely worth a visit.

They had a very nice bread server with four individual oval French loaves with very tasty butter. We tried the provoleta with peppers because we like that a lot in Argentina, but this was nothing like it and I guess that was to be expected. There they have a bunch of drier version of provolone and they grill it directly on the grill grates and it doesn't really melt too much. This tasted like standard provolone cheese and it was melted in a bowl. It was tasty, and unfortunately they probably can't get the Argentinian version of the cheese they would need to do it correctly. Our friends got the beef brochette with asparagus and the outside skirt steak and both were fabulous. Well seasoned and grilled and tender. My husband and I got the 2 pound stuffed fillet! It supposedly had ham in the filling but I couldn't taste it or see it anywhere. Unfortunately it had a really strongly flavored sauce along with the portobello mushrooms. We expected something with fewer herbs, which kind of overpowered the beef. It's a shame because the way they described it on the menu is not what came out. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what we were expecting and unfortunately, the beef flavor was hard to discern because of all of the herbs in the dark brown sauce. We brought our own wine and they didn't even have a corkage fee, which was amazing! We saw other plates go by with copious amounts of tomatoes and onions on salads and the filet mignon platter, it seemed like it was three or four pieces of fillet it had to be nearly a pound for one serving. The prices are pretty steep for the beef and they do charge $10 for sharing, however it might be worth just getting one of the larger plates and spending the 10 bucks to share as opposed to getting an entrée each and taking home lots of food which we did.
