I love, love, love coming to this place. The eclectic decor, the kind hospitality, and the clear roof (huh?) were essential to our concert-going experience while waiting for EVNNE to perform. We met with our server, who immediately got us all water when we were seated, as it was a hot day for us, changing and chilling near the church nearby. We sat under the clear roof area near the patio opening, and we ordered chips and salsa quickly. They offered up the drink menu, and we got half-off margaritas, and I was happy with that. We had a larger party, but the staff was so helpful and made us feel at home. I got the Al Pastor tacos with the homemade tortillas. The flavor and the crunch were exquisite. Later, after we finished, we were shown the speakeasy behind the wall of the restaurant, and we were all so amazed. The space was so cool and great for live music. Check this place out. Figured I would give PILSEN yards I'll try on a Sunday afternoon. Oh my God what a disappointment from the sangria that taste in life worse than a bottle of sangria you buy. To the food that was served lukewarm for being a soup don't give me wrong Pozole was phenomenal but again lukewarm. We then order a beer with a shot. That took forever to get there because you have too many hands in the cookie jar at once. And then we were espresso martinis that were served on these low ball glasse and tasted like absolute shit. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and upbeat. They created such a positive first impression and maintained that great energy throughout our visit. Fish was my favorite. Sweet Potatoes were undercooked. Salsa is very much a chipotle, smoky version; which I personally enjoy, but not everyone at my table agreed. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well, and the flautas had that perfect crunch. One funny detail, the salsa on top tasted just like Valentina, which threw me at first, but it worked. Just a heads-up: the food here isn't your abuelita's cooking. So if you're expecting super traditional flavors, you might be surprised. I've been a loyal customer of this place for the past two years, visiting about three times a month before I took a six-month break from drinking. I returned today excited to revisit one of my favorite spots, but unfortunately had a deeply disappointing experience with the bartender, who I believe might be the manager or lead. He's tall, light-skinned (Latino), with a beard and short haircut, someone I've seen many times before. He was never especially friendly, but he was never outright rude either. Today, though, was different. He acted like serving me was a burden, barely acknowledged me, and made me feel like shouldn't be there. It felt unnecessarily dehumanizing, especially when I came in with a good attitude, was friendly, and always tip well when I visit. I genuinely love this place, but the energy he brought to the bar made me feel unwelcome and dismissed. He was arrogant and RUDE!! It's unfortunate, but I can't risk experiencing that kind of treatment again, so I won't be back. People in the service industry should make guests feel seen, not invisible. I went on a date for the first time and when I walked in, the ambience was great the decor very modern and just the overall great date place spot. The service here is very attentive and friendly. They have good recommendations. The issue I ran into was my meal. They mixed up my vegan taco with a beef taco. I thought it was shredded Tempe or seitan. After my first bite, I was mistaken. I haven't eaten red meat in over 10 years because I used to be vegetarian. So that was upsetting. I let them know the issue and they were very apologetic and tried to make the moment right. Went here randomly one night looking for what to have for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat 2 with no wait time. The service was very quick for a Friday night and the servers were friendly! The lighting in there is interesting as it dims and brightens LOL. I didn't mind it. Rating: 8/10 I've been here several times and recently tried the burger--and I have to say, I've overlooked this. I typically go for the nachos, tacos, or ceviche, all of which are great and consistently solid. But the burger was a standout surprise. I actively seek out great burgers in the city--places like Red Hot Ranch, Au Cheval, and Mott Street--and this one can absolutely compete. It was well-seasoned, served on a perfectly crusty, buttery bun, and topped just right. Simply put: it was dang good. While the price point is slightly high, it's in line with the current norm ($15-$20 for a restaurant burger). This one has officially earned a spot in my top 10 burgers in Chicago. Drinks here are are always consistently excellent--well-balanced, fairly priced, and even the draft cocktails are impressive. Happy hour deals are great, especially the Thursday burger, beer, and shot special--definitely worth coming back for. The ambiance is another strong point: well designed, comfortable, with a great patio and an overall inviting vibe. I've been coming here for years and, like many spots, they had a tough run during and after COVID. I'm thrilled to see they're back on track--arguably better than ever. Kudos to the team! I recently visited Pilsen Yards to celebrate a birthday. I was NOT disappointed. This was my second visit and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. My sister and I parked on the street near the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were seated near the back inside but by the patio. The restaurant has beautiful art and is very open and spacious. We both loved it. We had the Shrimp Ceviche, Piña Colada Tuna Ceviche, Fish tacos, Shrimp taco, and Beef Barbacoa taco. We weren't fans of the shrimp taco as the chipotle spices were overpowering. The staff was very friendly and immediately replaced the shrimp taco with another one we preferred. Came to Pilsen Yards on a whim. My friend and I were in the area for a concert happening at Thalia Hall, which is a 3 min walk from Pilsen Yards. Every restaurant in the area was booked, sold out of food, or had a ridiculous wait time. My friend and I were just looking for some great food and drinks and came across Pilsen Yards. The staff was more than accommodating. Even though they had a busy place on a Saturday evening, they helped us secure a really nice table on the patio. The patio tables also have their own personal heaters which was a life saver on a chilly 50° night! The server was great and friendly, and our food came out so quick which helped my friend and I be on time for our concert.
