Polo San Mateo and Azteca drink
Jeff K.

Lauren was so wonderful. Got to us right away after waiting in the lobby for 15 minutes for a table. Not bad wait for a Friday night at 6:30. Staff at the door was very friendly and kept us up to date on when we would be seated. Go for the Azteca drink. Made with mezcal and is reallllly tasty. Tonight's dinner was Lauren's suggestion of the Pollo Al la Playa. Really great taste as more than I could eat on one sitting. Plus I needed another Azteca. We will be back and will ask for a table in her section.

We really enjoyed their Sunday Brunch! The food was absolutely delicious and so much to choose from. The staff was so friendly and attentive! Everything was clean and set up so nice.

So as I was having dinner tonight, I looked around and realized that the restrauteur at Azteca Mexican Grill had decorated a significant portion of the seating area with photos and accompanying biographical sketches of Mexican-American women, each who are extremely strong, positive role models. Pioneers & leaders in their respective fields of work, activists, & philanthropists. Great human beings. I think this is an absolutely fantastic & uplifting message of inclusion to put forth in the community. Well done Azteca Mexican Grill! As for the food it was fantastic! The aromas of spices was outstanding. I selected the Texas Fajitas - which were juicy and flavorfully prepared, AND there was plenty to take home and augment my breakfast or lunch tomorrow! The portion was reasonably priced. As I looked around to the 3 large tables my group occupied, I noted that the variety of food selected was varied and looked to also be well prepared. I heard no complaints and only saw smiles from our large party of 18!!! The restaurant was tidy, appeared to have a well stocked bar area and a small but nice patio in the front for outside dining. Staff were friendly and attentive, with the ordering process for our large group being efficient. The food arrived without to much of a wait time. Quite a few other tables were also taken, so it appears to be a busy and popular place to eat - at least on an early Thursday evening. I was impressed and quite happy with the very positive messaging of the decor. I'd definitely like to return again some time!

Fajitas Hawaiian

Carnita was really flavorful and a big plate. Fajita Hawaiian was also very flavorful. Great presentation and also customer service. Food was prepared and delivered quickly.

Brunch

Wow! Brunch at Azteca was an unexpected treat! When we walked in, we weren't sure if there was an event because it looked so fancy! The buffet was filled with various breakfast casseroles with a Mexican flair. Egg dishes with chorizo, seasoned potatoes, and a Mexican lasagna were among our favorites. It was on the expensive side ($25pp I think) but well worth it. Pricing for the buffet is on a little specials placard on the table.

This place is a hidden gem in Powell! Their portion sizes are great, and i think everything they have on the menu are all pretty tasty too. Friendly service, and the inside looks nice, looks like they will have a patio during summer time too. I would def come back again

Chicken fajitas for two
Megan C.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday night around 7:30. The two of us were able to be seated right away in a booth. We started out with the small guacamole, and then complimentary chips and salsa. I enjoyed the guac, salsa and chips. For our entree we split the chicken fajitas for two. This was a great portion size as we had lots of leftovers and were able to make breakfast tacos the next morning. The service was friendly. I thought this was a nice spot in powell to check out with a large menu and good options.

Tostado

Birra Tacos (little greasy but that's the type of meat) and Tostoda and Burrito. Fantastic food. Freaking fast service. Love coming to this place. It's truly a "hole in the wall" without being a hole in the wall restaurant, worth visiting! The molacata is always a family favorite.

The service was very good even with a full dinning room. Unfortunately the food was bland and the pork was dry. Not my favorite.

Marlena L and I both enjoyed the food and service amidst Trivia Night. When we chose this place, I had forgotten it is a casual family pizza type restaurant, and it was new to Marlena. The staff did a great job with this special menu. I had made reservations, which felt silly with the seat yourself sign, but then discovered we had a high-top indeed reserved for us. I had the Berry Burrata Salad, Tempura Cod, and Sweet Corn Muffins for my 3 courses for $35. The salad was a bit dry, so I asked for extra Raspberry Vinaigrette. Other than that, it was very good. The arugula, red onion, berries and burrata tasted so fresh. The cod, fries and apple coleslaw were really good. The cod and fries had nice seasoning. The apples in the slaw were a great addition. Really yummy. The corn muffins with honey glaze hit the spot. I nice change for a dessert. I had a Manhattan at the bar while waiting, and a glass of white wine with dinner. I would recommend for the next RW!

The loaded fries were a winner, although eat them quick while they're hot because as they cool down, they lose their crispness and like ability. The Stromboli bites were small and seemed like they were a little bit well done for me, wish I would've taken a picture. My cheesesteak was recommended as one of the better things on the menu, but quite frankly it was a weird taste as well as definitely like pot roast with cheese, whiz, and cheese on it. It wasn't my favorite. I wish I would've gotten a burger.

This alone made me want to support this business. They clearly care about their community. Throughout the dining experience I witnessed the staff and owners really demonstrate a desire to be an inclusive environment for all of their guests. The interior/decor has not changed much since it was Gallop's. I think they could work on streamlining and refining their brand/esthetic...from interior to branding, and even their menu. But, regardless the food and service were phenomenal. Their menu has a wide range of options and I was really surprised that everything we ordered was delicious. Portions were very generous and cost was reasonable. Food was quick to come out despite the menu being large. The mock tail was soooo good! A perfect balance of sweetness and tart. While the shrimp Guac bites were a little difficult to eat, the Guac tasted super fresh and the shrimp were plump and cooked perfectly. The wings were cooked perfectly, Ruben done well, and the fish sandwich HUGE. They seem to still be working out some POS organization, etc. as we were accidentally overcharged when adding fries to our sandwich. But the server apologized for the mistake. Overall, I really hope to see this establishment grow and succeed! I look forward to coming back when brunch starts and the patio is open!
