I had a Banana Stand Banana Cream Hefeweizen, very light and flavorful. I also tried the Phase 2 IPA, boozy and strong like I like it! Picked up a Lunar Guidance a Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout at a whopping 13%, I can't wait to try it. Behind the brewery is the Trail Magic Kitchen Food Truck. Nocterra in Scioto Audubon definitely gets a boost from being at Scioto Audubon. Inside is lovely, too, and there's a lot to like about their sustainability efforts and outdoorsy mission. I found the beer in my flight to be solid across the board, and my sample of my wife's espresso martini was a darn good sip for a non-coffee drinker. The food was good. I'm a fan of the Bao Buns, but I blame my own user error for a less than stellar experience with the fried cauliflower. Ordering is done online and there was an S.O.S. option for the order, and I thought it was a type of sauce. I didn't realize until after the fact that it meant "sauce on side." You need to get those babies sauced for the best experience. Overall, I would go back and especially if I had a larger group that could reserve space in their upstairs loft. read more

Really fun time on Sunday as we visited for the John Prine Tribute Band fundraiser for the Central Ohio Folk Festival. We had never been and we came from the East Side and glad we did. I like their beer and enjoyed seeing their brewery. What a great setting. By looking at their event calendar they seem to always have something going on. They mis-staffed the beer bar, two staff people to serve 100s of people and answer the phone. Not good. RayTays BBQ on-site is a plus! Nocterra had it going. read more

What a cute place! The outdoor space is perfect for summer nights and they have a large variety of beers, ciders and wines for everyone! It would have been 5 stars but 1. Parking is not the easiest by any means. They have very few dedicated parking spots and uptown Powell gets quite busy/full (and you have to know your way around it to find the open lots). The first time I tried to go we literally left because we couldn't find parking anywhere (including the city lots). Just be prepared to be hunting ! 2. My cider was a rotator which means it came from a can - not something I mind BUT it was warm. Any other place I've been has always at least pulled them from the fridge so that was pretty disappointing (especially on a hot night). The cider otherwise would have been great. They do have a sour line my friends enjoy - a little two sour / almost hoppy for me to love but they are decent, especially if that's your thing! I love Nocterra Brewing Company. The beer is really, really good. The brand feels like a cause. Get out and enjoy life, take care of nature and explore. The brewery location here in Powell is perfect. It's just the right mix of random. Sliver of a property that inevitably has a train interrupt the band playing in the summer, an outdoor beer garden that has an outside draft station running just enough that you know it works, but not so much that you get to avoid the indoor line. Food trucks (yes plural). And the staff. Are you kidding me? It's like they're the owners family or something. Such great people. Great beer, good food truck (Ray-Ray's, which can be hit or miss nowadays, but that's a "them" problem, not a Nocterra problem). They've got a good range of beers - a little something for everyone (except not usually ciders, but they have hard sodas, that don't really go well with the bbq). They have a good indoor space, they're kid friendly - but NOT BABY SITTERS. Don't treat the place like a play pen, people are here to forget things, keep your crotch goblins under control! Their outdoor space is large - fire pits, a small outdoor bar, heat lamps - so even when it's chilly outside, it's still a good spot to grab a beer and relax. Our first time trying Nocterra. We have been meaning to for like a year. The weather was gorgeous so it was no surprise that there was a line to get in. They do a great job of keeping you updated and trying to get your seated ASAP. You can also order drinks while you wait, they have plastic DORA cups that they will pour into pretty glass ones if you get seated before you finished your drink. We didn't eat, but they have Ray Rays bbq truck there inside the patio area. The patio area was big and really nice. The band was great. My husband likes the beers her tried. He is a big craft beer man. I love that they have their own seltzer's. They were out of the one I wanted to try the most but the other two were really good. We will definitely go back. read more

After a conference in Columbus, I stopped by Nocterra Brewing company in Powell, Ohio just north of Dublin. I heard about the brewery on Craft Beer Girls group for a while, so was excited to try their beers. I stopped by on Friday around happy hour, so the place was hopping and found one of the last parking spots. I walked in and found a spot at the bar with a huge tap list in front of me to view. When I visit breweries for the first time, I always enjoy having a flight so I can try a variety of beers and then usually settle on a pint to enjoy. They had a variety of beers IPA's, Hazy/West Coast style IPA's, sour, brown ale, Dunkel and Porter, so quite a lineup for a brewery 3 years old. One of the bartenders found out was from Troy, OH, I grew up in Kettering, south Dayton area and then a couple next to me found out from Centerville, so had nice conversation. This bartender was great explaining all of the beers and after my flight recommended the Cali Beta which is New England IPA and California Swell Line 2x Fruited Gose with Raspberry & Blackbery delicious! I could have enjoyed a few more of these, but had a drive back to Cincinnati. Nocterra is a great neighborhood brewery worth the drive in Northwest Columbus, stop by the next time you're in the area. read more

This is a fun place, especially the atmosphere. I love sitting outside near the fire pits on a warm spring/summer night, and while it's usually fairly busy, it's not so loud that you can't have a decent conversation. Great selection of beers and ciders, just pay attention to which are on draft and which are coming from a can (I prefer draft). Prices are reasonable, most things are under $10. I've never had food hear, but it seems like they do offer food and there's a food truck out front that offers options from time to time. The only downside is parking can be tricky on busy nights. Not a big deal as we usually park in town and walk, but not ideal if you need to be close. Overall a fun place to hang out and enjoy a few good drinks! read more

Pretty cool place over all. My review is a little skewed given I went during an event so take it with a grain of salt. We showed up for their tiki event featuring several special tiki /tropical inspired sour beers. I ended up trying all 6 that they had on tap. Of them, my favorites were the Californian and Tahitian Swell Lines. Very tasty -- fruity and sour. The location is pretty neat -- a large fenced in yard with fire pits / picnic tables / occasional live music and food trucks. There is also ample indoor seating. The place was packed, in addition to the tiki event there seemed to be a bridal shower happening or something. I'm not sure if that and the insane amount of children there were correlated or if that is just the vibe of the location, but yeah. Lots of children. If that's your bag then this is your place. For me I like to go to breweries to chill and relax so it wasn't my favorite environment, but again maybe that was just a special occurrence. I'd definitely return! read more

The patio at Nocterra is one of the best in the city. It is huge with plenty of different types of seating- picnic tables, fire pit seats, and cute tree stumps as well. They have a live band that can be seen and enjoyed from any part of the patio as well as food trucks to satisfy your hunger! Check their Instagram or website for food truck schedules. The picnic tables even have umbrellas for shade that can be adjusted as the sun moves.. trust me, you will need this feature because you aren't leaving after just 1-2 beers. The patio is surrounded by beautiful greenery separated from you by a cute wooden fence and the patio aesthetic is polished off with outdoor string lights. They also have great beer! The from the heart IPA was my favorite. It had that hoppy IPA taste without being too heavy for a hot summer day. You do have to walk into the taproom everytime you want another beer, but that really wasn't an issue for us and fits with the casual atmosphere. The cicadas are also an unavoidable nuisance this time of year. A couple of dive bombs into our table lol but otherwise didn't affect us having a great time! read more

Nocterra is a new brewery. It's close to Ill Mannered. They seem to be friendly competition. It's surprising Powell can handle two breweries. Then again the area is growing a lot. I had a Trail Break. It's $5 for a pint. This is about how much it's for most beers on tap. It's a Helles style lager. This is light and smooth. It doesn't have just beer. There's also some hand crafted sodas. I guess this place is kid friendly. There's also usually a food truck. It has a big taproom good for gatherings. The inside is much bigger than it looks. It might be hard to find if you haven't been around the area before. From north on Liberty turn left on Case and keeping going until you get to the curve. If you are a craft beer person you will like this place!! An old train station concerted into a brewery!! Super cool. Feels like the "whistle stop cafe" on the movie "Fried green tomatoes"!! A step back in time. Very simple. Beer, outdoor picnic tables and umbrellas... oh and.... Trains come roaring by every once in awhile. A really cool experience. They also have Ray ray's BBQ truck right there on-site. We had the hot link sandwich with fries, coleslaw and collard greens. All were really good. Like being on a picnic!! We also had cheer wine and ginger beer! Just like the old south!! Unfortunately the baby back ribs were dry and didn't come with a lot of sauce. They also have live music! Cute and simple brewery. Staff was friendly, everything was clean, plenty of seating, and good beer! I got a flight and my husband tried two other beers so we sampled many! My only complaint was the food truck. I was hoping for Ray Rays but it was not there. Instead there was a food truck serving smash burgers. We ordered 2 with fries, which took over 50 minutes. Mine came out with the sauce on and I had asked for it plain. When I mentioned it, the cashier asked the kitchen to just "scrape off the sauce" rather than prepare a new one. There is never enough parking, they need to create a parking lot that close to railroad tracks and for the locals of Powell!! I genuinely only love it in the summer when the patio is open with tables you are able to sit at with others and there is a food truck!! It is by far my favorite place in Powell! From the welcoming and relaxing ambiance to their fun and inspiring community engagement and musical events! Nocterra of Powell is not just an excellent brewery with great beer service and terrific food selections via fun food trucks! It's a respite for the body and soul and a neighborhood community center! My favorite beer is whichever beer my son-in-law selects for me and says "try this one you'll like it!! " and I always do! I enjoy all their lagers and seasonal beers! Everyone who is an IPA fan loves their IPAs. I love their Bier Garden with fire pits and that their is plenty of room for adult groups as well as families with kids! Parents bring their kids and the whole family has a great time and a good reset by taking a family break at Nocterra! Adults without kids always enjoy themeemves abd evetyone gets to talking! Great space, great beer. The Beta Flash NE IPA is the best I've ever had. That's saying a lot. Every time I try a NE IPA, 9 times out of 10 I like it, but there is always one thing I don't like. A bitter note, too sweet, not hazy enough. I have no argument that I can make against this beer. I only sampled two other beers while there, and they were both very good, names escape me, but that Beta Flash, wow!! The space is nice, indoor is rustic wood, outside has twin fire pits running on gas, so you don't go home smelling like an ashtray. Picnic tables, and apparently kid friendly to an extreme, children outnumbered adults I'm pretty sure. Seemed like a quaint little town, though we did not explore it. This place is so cool. They have an indoor section with the bar and tables, plus they've got a really big patio-style area with picnic tables, fire pits, etc. The patio is my favorite area because of the fire pits. I visited this brewery in November, and I was able to sit outside by the fire pretty comfortably. The outdoor section is dog-friendly, which I love! The beer selection is great. There's something for everyone here. My favorite was the orange creamsicle blonde ale! Not too sweet, and just the perfect amount of flavor to keep you coming back for a second or third :) They do not have a food menu, however there is a food truck that parks in the outdoor patio area. I ordered pulled pork sandwiches, French fries and Mac n cheese - all very tasty. The only real issue I had was the parking situation. It can be very tricky to find a spot nearby, especially on weekends when it's crowded. There is a parking lot across the street (about 3-5 minute walk) if you are unable to find something closer. Overall, Nocterra is a must-try in my book. Get over there ASAP! read more

I really loved the beer selection at this place! This tastes a little more like a stout than a sour, but it really was good! I tried my friends creamsicle and it was AMAZING. I really loved the atmosphere but was disappointed there were no food options. They had a charcuterie board person there which sounds so fun but when we arrived at 7pm he had cleaned up.
