I had been there 12 years ago and bought this amazing vintage SURFER magazine poster but for some reason I thought they had closed... To my happiness they are still open and still have great art! After scouring the collection I settled on a print that I am really excited about, one that I have actually loved for years and I know my boyfriend will love as well. I shopped around and the price was comparable to other specialty shops but the customer service was what sold me. I have been using a small independent framer in the Hillcrest area for YEARS. Although the pricing was right, the quality and time needed to complete my project was getting worse and longer every time I would go in. I purchased a print on http://www.orangeandpark.com/ for a housewarming gift and decided, like all men do, to wait until the day to find a frame. On the orange and park website they listed Aztec Graphics as a place to get your framing done so I thought I would check it out. I walked in and was greeted by Barbara. Although she was with another customer she pointed me to the premade frames for my 12x12 print. The were a black simple frame with glass for $18. A great price though I was looking for something a little more custom. She suggested a whitewashed wood frame that looked awesome. So here it comes right!?!?! The bait and switch!!! Not even close.... she did it for $20. $20? For a custom frame? I couldn't believe it!! Next she said she would have it done the next day, which compared to my last framer I used, was incredible. I said very meekly "Any chance you can do it today?". She said "Let me check and went into the back. She returned a few seconds later and said "Sure we can"! I was shocked! My parents framed a beautiful poster for my birthday and I still have it on display in my own home sixteen years later. Aztec Graphics is family owned and run and has been in the same location for many many years, which is not something you can say about most Pacific Beach locations. My most recent experiences at Aztec have been incredibly positive. The owner and her son (both names escape me) were attentive and helpful while I selected frames for a couple vintage prints. This is a great local shop. I brought in a huge map (over 6ft x 4ft) that I wanted to get framed for my partner for Christmas. I had an idea of what I wanted and they helped steer me towards a frame that looks amazing with the map. I was really worried about the cost given the size (and I've used Fast Frame in the past), but their pricing was really reasonable. They were able to get the job done in time for Christmas and the quality was phenomenal. I believe it's a family run business (based on other comments left here) and I had interactions with all of them (mother, father and son) and they are all great and you see the pride they take in their work. read more

This is the place for your "finishing touch". Great selections of posters and many were on my sons wall at college. It's on a main avenue and I happened to walk in passing by to see what the pricing was like and what they had to offer. So it started with the posters but then I brought in some work and I had no idea of matte color or frame selection and they were sooo helpful. The work is beautiful and even custom. My favorite was a shadow box frame that I have with some collectables. Pricing was better than the "box" stores and your work is unique. I have tried Aaron Brothers and custom framing shops in Encinitas and La Jolla and Aztec Graphics beats them all. I gave them my budget and the estimated worth of the art I was framing and they offered me advice a selection to work from. I have moved 3x since framing some art with them and have no problem. The frames done by Aaron Brothers is now falling apart with the same treatment and handling. I have a lot more prints that I will be bringing to them and appreciate their honesty and help and always feel like they are giving advice from experience and client satisfaction and not just to drive the cost up. read more

They offered recommendations on where to get both projects printed and used their contacts there to "rush" my projects before I took off to visit my folks. We used Aztac Graphics to reframe our "Rabindra Cat" prints after we redecorated our living room in an African motif. There we a total of 5 original prints ranging from 32x40 for the largest (Lion Rouge) to 10x12 for the smallest (House Cat). The staff spent over 3 hours with us suggesting frames and matting combinations that would complement each print. A little over a week later we returned to pick up our prints and OMG, they were spectacular! The frame and the matting combinations for each print completely brought out the highlights of each cat and the frame contrast with each matting combination was unbelieveable! When we got them home we immediately hung them and still can not believe how great they look. Our 30+ year old Rabrindra prints have never looked so good and they truely are the highlight of our living room. Even friends who have seen them hung in our houses over the years can't believe they are the same prints. As the last reviewer said "They are freakin awsome!" One final comment about how outstanding Aztec is. When they pulled the old frames off they noticed that all of the print images had "burned" into the glass, which they had intended to reuse. So, they replaced each piece of glass and did not charge us, even though that was not part of the quote they had given us. And, they honored our Yelp certificate on top of it all! If you need reframing, rematting or any other service Aztec does, don't go anywhere else. Go to Aztec! We would not even think of going anywhere else! read more
