Bureaucracy ruining my experience here! They scheduled me a whole month out for my consult just for me to have issues that day get there late and now scheduled another month out making me wait over 2 months to get my operation done. All my scans and related work are finished just need to schedule the operation and have them tell me how much it will cost and they won't do it over the phone have to waste a hundred dollars on a consult just for a 5-10 min conversation that can be done over the phone. Will not be using there service or recommend it to anyone and will let the office that referred me to them to not refer further patients to this clinic read more

I went in to get all four of my wisdom teeth out and Dr. Austin and his team were AMAZING! Two of my wisdom teeth were impacted teeth that were over my nerves and I was worried that I would have complications. Dr. Austin gave me his expert advice and I knew I could trust him. As good as it gets, and MORE! 5 Stars doesn't come close to the quality of care and attention that Dr. Austin puts into you and your treatment! He answered all of my questions in detail during the consult, and made sure I was clear on what the next steps in my treatment would be. Heather, his coordinator, was so sweet and made sure I was feeling good after the surgery. I called many times with questions and she was always happy to answer them. His surgical staff was top notch, too! Making sure I got proper instructions, was prepared for aftercare, and safe. They were so gentle and kind. Overall, I would suggest that anyone needing any kind of extractions, jaw surgery or anything maxillofacial related, he's your doctor! WARNING! They sued me in small claims court over 185 dollars (balance after insurance and HSA maxxed out for extraction and bone graft, now doubled from fees). I literally just got out of Mesa small claims court this afternoon. Lori in collections confirmed this is their normal collection "tactic" rather than selling the debt to a collection agency like most professional medical practices. My real dentist A. Pelletier referred this place, (we'll have to talk) they've never sued any patients in SCC. Don't get this place confused with other serious medical facilities, it's more in line with nose-job shops or chiropractors when it comes to collections Be careful read more

The dental/surgical procedure was performed with 5 stars, exemplary, no issues, however I question the honesty of the billing process. I paid for my procedure In Full, out of my pocket, one week prior to the procedure. I have MetLife dental insurance so this office filed the claim on my behalf. The insurance benefit was paid to the care provider instead of to me. When I called to inquire where was my benefit and why was the benefit not paid directly to me? I was told they had no control over who the insurance paid the benefit. So I called the insurance company to ask the same question. I was advised by the insurance company that the provider filed the claim with assignment of benefit to the provider, not ME. Its taking far too long for the provider to forward "refund" my benefit. I feel this is dishonest and shady billing practice and I therefore am giving 1 star. read more

The AZ MAX staff is amazing! I called on Wednesday and got a much needed appointment for Friday. I informed them I lived a few hours away and, they made arrangements for a consult and surgery the same day! Dr Porter was amazing my family came in with me we talked about the surgery and he even recommend and gave directions to places they could eat while I was in surgery. Us not being from the area it meant a lot that he took the time to look for us. The surgery was quick and for having an impacted wisdom tooth the pain after was not as bad as I thought it would be. Cannot say ENOUGH nice things about this place. First, my husband cracks a tooth. Husband then ignores tooth. Husband then ends up in excruciating pain. Goes to our dentist... dentist said it needs to be pulled ASAP and they don't do that. This is on a Friday, mind you! The dentist refers to 4 places.. none of them being AZ Max (dumb dentist). Finally after calling and getting the run around at least 6 different places.. "Oh, our doctors aren't in on Fridays..." One smart girls says, "Call AZ MAX and then hangs up really fast." I did and they said, "Bring him in ASAP!" We did and 4 hours later I have a happy, drugged husband and an honest conversation with Dr. Boyse. LOVED him! I cannot write a review worthy enough of this place. They saved my life, had a severe infection in my gums from wisdom teeth, was in severe pain and they were so friendly and caring, I ALMOST forgot I was in pain. The whole procedure, from the moment I walked in to the moment I left pain free took 45 mins! After care instructions were clear, was prescribed meds for soreness after surgery, and they told me to come the next day for a follow up. I had zero to no pain after and was able to walk in to my follow up appointment with a smile on my face! Thank you to the staff and doctors!! The billing lady was condescending in telling me "sir it's an estimate" even though I was told after 3 days it was no charge by their company! I have been to AZ Max Twice and I have had positive and pleasant experiences each time.(who likes going to any dentist??, and compared to having a traumatic exp with another dentist). I'm not happy. The first time Dr Kelly performed surgery on my mouth, he sent everything to sonoran labs for a biopsy. That cost me nothing. When he had to re-do the surgury, Dr. Kelly, for some unknown reason, sent my stuff to the University of Iowa. This is out of my insurance network and cost me $180.00. I'm upset. I feel if he had done a good job the first time, I wouldn't have had to endure the surgury twice. The second surgery really hurt. I was in a lot of pain for days after the surgery. If Dr. Kelly had done a good job the first time, I wouldn't have to pay $180.00. But, because he didn't do a good job, he was able to bill my insurance for TWO surgeries. That's not cool. I am extremely angry. He made a lot of money and I'm going to be out $180.00. Even though I now think Dr. Kelly is a tool, I can't be upset with the support staff. I put a forkful of baked tilapia in my mouth and let it melt in my mouth, savoring the flavor and texture as I have not been able to do for years. Now with my new mouthful of teeth on implants, even tho restricted to soft foods, I am able to ENJOY my meals without worrying about my broken teeth breaking further. Dr Kelly was amazing! He did great work and his staff was kind and caring. Highly recommend this doctor for any of those scary procedures....but be careful of the billing lady. We paid the estimated amount due, but when our insurance paid significantly more than the doctor's office estimated they would--the billing lady "kept" the extra. When I called to inquire about getting a refund for the amount we overpaid, she gave me a really hard time, telling me that the doctor's office customarily keeps the excess. Finally, she agreed to send me a refund for the overage. Bottom line--HIGHLY recommend Dr Kelly and surgical staff. They were fantastic! But, keep an eye on the the billing lady! read more

I was referred here by my dentist for an implant. I went for my free consultation and x-rays and was very impressed by everyone at the office. The staff was very kind and helpful, and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Boyse was very nice and had great "chairside" manner! He also ended up taking 3-D x-rays of my mouth, at no charge, because he saw something in my sinus cavity (it was on the opposite side from my tooth that needed the implant) Turned out to be nothing but I thought that showed that they really care about their patients, going above and beyond what I was there for. I also thought the estimate was very reasonable for what I needed done, less that I expected from a specialist. I finally had my procedure done yesterday and everything went really smooth and painless. They called me later on that day to see how I was feeling, and let me know they could be reached 24 hours if I had any concerns. Then to my surprise, I received flowers today, signed from both them and Smilelines, my regular dentist. That last touch inspired me to get on here and post about my wonderful experiences there. I saw Dr Romney and had a great experience. I filled out the forms online from my iPhone and when I went in for my first visit I only waited a few minutes and did not have to fill out a million redundant forms like every other Doctor fills requires you to fill out. I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. The surgery was scheduled a couple days after my initial visit. The day of my surgery I showed up sat down went to sleep (sedated or put under whatever it's called) woke up minus my wisdom teeth. Very uneventful and non stressful. Went home and a few days later I am right back at it. All of the gadgets they have are state of the art and they worked with my useless crappy insurance company. If you need dental work done and don't want excitement or pain I strongly recommend AZ MAX. read more

When I left the room, the front office staff immediately had my insurance information available with what my estimated costs may be and I scheduled my surgery before I left the office. Additionally both my kids had thier wisdom teeth removed by Dr Boyce last year. The unfortunate part is the cost to have it all done, of course not their fault.
