I came here with some coworkers. The staff was very kind and helpful. Their food is standard diner food with a lot of choices. The inside is wide open with easy access into the booths and tables. I really enjoyed their breakfast and will definitely be back for lunch. Prices are extremely reasonable and portions are large. Keep up the great work! read more

Really good! I was surprised. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town. They do an omelette encased in hash browns that was super good! Quick service and clean. Nice surprise in Surprise. read more

I haven't been here in about two years didn't know they had changed the name in the front still says Nick's diner until we went inside. I noticed the bright green shirts. We thought they were wearing Christmas shirts and I look closer has a totally different name. I asked the lady if they change the name, she said yes the shirts are hideous but of course we did not go there for the food. The place is very outdated I had the fish and chips. It was excellent. I think the best that I've had in surprise. The lady that helped me I believe was Hispanic. I went around brunch time. She was very knowledgeable very helpful very friendly read more

My husband and I visited this diner while visiting family in the Surprise area. My aunt shared that the restaurant can be extremely busy on the weekends, but good thing we tried it on a Monday morning when it wasn't very busy at all. As we entered the restaurant, I noticed that there must have been a recent change in ownership of the restaurant because the sign and Google list is as 'Nicks Diner II,' but there's a large sign inside that says 'Samantha and Nick's Diner.' Food: I, myself, ordered the "Robin Magnolia" which included steak, eggs, home fries and toast. My husband ordered a Greek skillet. We both ordered a glass of juice to pair with our breakfast- (1) orange juice and (1) apple juice. I thought the home-fries were really bland and could have used some seasoning. My eggs were warm, so I had to eat them fast because who likes cold eggs? Not me. Though we dined in for breakfast, their menu does include breakfast, lunch, dinner and some desserts. Personally, I disliked the menu because it included too many ads as if it were some kind of magazine. Service: We were provided with good service. We were seated immediately, then placed our orders pretty quickly (again, it wasn't busy at all). When our server brought our food she immediately asked if I needed steak sauce and brought it right away when I said 'yes'. Midway through our meal, the server checked on us. Unlike other diners where you would pay your bill up front, you pay at the table via your server. There's even a sign at the front that says "your server is your cashier," so don't forget to pay before you leave your table. Value: Good sized portions for what you pay; however, I don't agree with the price of juice being $3.99 per glass. In my opinion, $8 for two glasses of juice that do not come with refills is pretty pricey. For just the two of us to eat at this diner, it costed us about $50 (including tip)- yikes. Ambiance: clean restaurant. A good amount of seating. Parking lot. It was pretty quiet when we dined there, and since it was December, there was Christmas decor. Location: Right by the AMC theatre on Litchfield. 13765 Litchfield Rd, Surprise, AZ 85379. Overall, pretty good if you're in the area, but not something I'd make a detour for. read more

In my last review of Nick's I was very upset about my meal and said I would never come back to Nick's. Several of my friends wanted to go to Breakfast and suggested Nick's. It I thought , ok I don't want to be a party pooper. This time I had a s Spinich and Mushroom omelette Swiss cheese and French toast. Everything tasted good. I ordered my meal without looking at the menu thinking nothing of it. When the bill came the cost of my meal was $18.06. The price of my meal seemed excessive. I asked the waitress about the price of my meal. She said anytime you add a vegetable to and omelette there is an up charge. If I would have ordred a veggie omelette I would have been much cheaper. Really . What crock of ****. I can see if I was ordering some exotic kind of omelette. This establishment will not miss me. I will stick to my guns and no set foot at Nick's again. read more

Dined here for the first time with a friend today. Located just behind and to the left of the AMC theatre. The hostesses at the front were welcoming and sat us in a booth within a minute of our arrival. Nice that they asked what type of table we preferred. We arrived at 8:30 and there was no wait. An hour later, the lobby was very full. Our server (Marissa I believe) was really good. Friendly, helpful with menu options and very attentive. Gave us plenty of time to choose and came back for drink refills often. I ordered option #2 which came with two eggs, four pieces of bacon, hash browns and two pieces of toast. So much food for only $10. My friend ordered a veggie omelet, hash browns and a buttermilk pancake. All of that was around $10 as well. Thinking we had to pay up front, we went to do exactly that. Quickly realized that was not the process and felt a little bad. Our server then had to be flagged down and meet us up front. We left a 50% tip for her great service and hassle on our part. If you're looking for good food and quality service at a great price - give this place a try. read more

We ordered a hot turkey sandwich plate and a hamburger with onion rings. Listed as a roasted turkey sandwich, but it's shredded lunch meat. Gravy was gelatinous and salty. Came with frozen vegetables and mashed potatoes. Awful! Husband's burger and onion rings were marginal. Service was excellent. Won't be back read more

After 10 years of loyal service, our favorite waitress was fired over not wearing a company shirt. We've been regular customers for over a decade and often overlooked the recent decline in food quality (the bacon especially) because of the excellent service from her and a few others. There are plenty of breakfast options in the area, and we stayed for the people. Losing long-term staff over something so minor is disappointing and makes us reconsider coming back. read more

came here with my son before taking him to the airport after the holidays. We wanted to go somewhere that was locally owned and not a found this place, I've never been before, but absolutely loved it and absolutely will come back. there was a wide variety of food on the menu. I had a number two with the chicken sausage and my son had the spinach and feta omelette. We both loved it. The food came out fast and hot and the waitress was so friendly, I wish I'd remembered her name but all the staff was very nice. Their lunch menu looked equally delicious. Will definitely go back would definitely recommend. read more

I will never go back! I was excited to try a new restaurant for breakfast this morning. AZ Diner was close so we stopped. I don't eat eggs but ordered the chorizo burrito and asked for the eggs on the side. My husband loves eggs so he would eat them. As I'm sitting there drinking my coffee I can hear a woman in the kitchen area loudly say eggs on the side are you F*^king serious! I got up and asked for the check humiliated. The waitress was nice and apologized and told us that we didn't need to pay for the coffee and ice tea we had already gotten. I have never had anything like this happen to me before and was really hurt by this. I will never go back. read more

I am a long time customer and have enjoyed the food and service for many years. Was there on a Saturday this past week and was quite disappointed. Eggs Benedict Hollandaise had the consistency of library paste, fried potatoes tasted like rancid grease. Grandsons waffle was crispy on the outside but pasty inside and his potatos also tasted like rancid grease. Service however was impeccable. I will not be back based on the quality of the food being served. read more

Quite the surprise in Surprise! We must have passed this eatery a hundred times before we finally came here for breakfast. On Yelp it is listed as AZ Diner, but the signage on the building says Nick's II so it was a bit confusing. When First entering the restaurant it's surprisingly large. But don't let that fool you, the service is very fast and the portions are big. I asked for crispy bacon and it was perfect. The waitress (Mary D.) was excellent! So cheerful, if you were having a bad day she would definitely make you smile. The food wasn't only fast, but it was pretty good too. Not gourmet, but diner type food. Looking forward to going back to try their Greek food for lunch one day. They close at 3pm so don't miss out. read more

First time there. Staff were all friendly. Great atmosphere! Food was hot, came out fast and was delicious! Will definitely return!

We were in Surprise for my nieces kindergarten graduation and I offered to take her to lunch. She wanted a hamburger but I couldn't find a good burger joint around. Luckily we took a chance on Nicks Diner and it didn't disappoint. It was around 11 when we showed up and was already busy. They seated us right away and got our drinks. The place is really clean and the staff were great. The owner was walking around checking on things and was nice. They have a pretty extensive menu and I was having a hard time choosing what I wanted. I ended up with the gyro sandwich and onion rings, my wife got a burger and my niece decided on the kids menu spaghetti. All of the portions were more than generous. The kids spaghetti has two giant meatballs and could easily feed an adult or 2 kids and it's only $5.99. She couldn't finish it and took the rest home. I couldn't finish my plate either. I really wish we had a diner in my neighborhood of North Phoenix like this. It's definitely more of a "homey" vibe instead of some Denny's style restaurant. P.S. The diner closes at 3:30 every day except Friday when it closes at 9pm. read more

Went in at lunch time. Pleasant ambiance and ok service. I order a reuben and my wife asked for a gyro And spanikopita. Both our orders were just horrible. The reuben was apparantly grilled with eggs and sausage which gave it a really greasy and off taste metallic and eggs. The gyro was just bad obviously just fried meat off the griddle instead of shaved off the loaf. Spanokopita crust was uncuttable instead of flaky and the filling was mainly parmesan cheese. We will not go back. Maybe the breakfast selections are better. read more

I am not a red meat eater. When the desire for red meat anything hits, I probably need some iron so I listen to my body... this leads me to ordering of the corn beef hash! It's so good here! For reals! That with some toast, jelly and hash browns.. perfect brunch okay. My hubby and sons ate eggs, pancakes with bananas and strawberries, hash browns, French toast, steak and eggs, omelette with all the goodness in it, and chocolate hot cocoa to wash it all down. Coffee wasn't bad either! This place is always well!! The service was excellent! Our waiter was so nice and friendly. She made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. It was really busy inside. We didn't wait long to be seated. It was a country filled atmosphere and not to overly decorated. All in all nice. Hopefully they will continue to be great and we will eat here again and again! read more

Ordering breakfast as takeout is a risk..will it taste like it should when it gets where I am goin? Well done Nick's! You nailed it! The Chicken Fried Steak, great flavor, well seasoned and great gravy! The eggs , not only nailed the over-easy order, but we got the yolk run when we got home. The yolk and gravy together, a moment in life to relish. Okay let's talk about the potatoes. Breakfast potatoes are an essential part of a great breakfast plate. Too hard, too soft, too big or chunks, too small of chunks, over cooked, charred, under cooked...so many ways to mess them up. Not these, they nailed these. They had a crispy outer layer and were still a cooked potato on the underside. Bravo! Maybe a bit more seasoning, but a dash of salt took care of that. Tried my wife's French Toast and it was equally as good. Maybe it was luck, but the melted tub of butter was a great addition. A pour of the butter and a little syrup and it was perfect. read more

it smells like sewage and the water tastes like sewage too.. The severs have nasty mean attitude. just disgustin. food was cold and old.

About a month ago I praised the high quality of food at Nicks Diner 2, and more so the fish and chips platter. Sadly, that was then, and yesterday after returning with a friend, I found very little to shout about, but for the service, which was still good. A month later prices were higher, the fish was thinner and cheaper, not the high quality of cod that had won my praise not that long ago. Obviously Codfish is getting far more expensive, batter is cheap, unfortunately we found that out the hard way, I retract my recommendation. read more

$15 for Corned Beef breakfast gets you cold eggs, barely cooked onions and peppers, a lunch meat slice of meat chopped and fried and a lot of potatoes. I could have made this myself at home and been fuller, happier and had more money in my pocket! This place used to be amazing! Wow!!! So I went to Nick's diner, which is also known as AZ diner and wired. I've ordered it was delicious. As soon as we walked in the place looks very clean very nice very nicely decorated and done , being from Chicago. We love diners, and this one was very nice and very clean. That was the first impression. So I said to My Wife,"'I like the ambience but let's see if the food is good, I would waitress was fantastic just like an old-school diner. She hung out what else she talked to explain chitchat extremely pleasant. Nick's 2 (now Samantha & Nick's) is not a bad place for some quick bites and a goof breakfast/brunch. Depending on the time of the day (especially Sat/Sun mornings) it can be a bit packed, so there might be a 15-30 min wait. But, the staff are quick to get service started as soon as you're seated. The menu is pretty large and has some great breakfast and lunch favs as well as a dash of Greek and Mediterranean influences. I ordered the fish and chips. Not bad, but they would have been perfect if they were brought to me while piping hot (they were luke-warm so just okay). It was nice that they had malt vinegar, which is a must have for this dish. Kudos! New (at least to me) was the pastries they had on display in a case at the entrance. They looked epic! Sadly they weren't on the menu, so I forgot about them until I was on my way out the door (and my bill was already paid). I'd highly recommend a spot on the menu about "fresh pastries" available daily and for the staff to mention it BEFORE they bring the bill. I would have grabbed a couple to go at the very least. Other than that, not a bad place for a casual meal. read more

I love going to Nick's Diner II, now AZ Diner. Food is always so good, and the ladies always hustle and accommodate the customers. The setting is like a diner with no special seating. There is one person that always stands around and doesn't seem to be a team player, though. It's the only guy that takes orders. We've been coming to Nick's for years for breakfast and it's great every time. I'd say it's one of the best in Surprise honestly. It's consistent, and service is always good. My only real issue is parking on the weekends. I love that they offer a discount card that you have them scan at the end of your meal when you pay to earn discounts towards future visits. I'm love their French toast, but also enjoy their omelettes ( so huge), and skillets. The pancakes are pretty large as well so be prepared if you order multiple.
