I love Amey! My doula, Kelly Sunshine (who is also awesome, by the way!) recommended I set up an appointment with Amey while I was still pregnant as many new mamas struggle with breastfeeding. It was actually the thing I was most nervous about (more than labor!) and Amey was so fantastic. When Amey arrived (on time), I immediately felt a sense of relief. Breastfeeding had been going pretty well, but I was given conflicting information from the LC's at the hospital and was already cracking. I believe I saw Amey on my son's fourth or fifth day of life and after her visit, things improved and I was no longer in pain! YAY! If you think you need breast feeding support you should seriously consider reaching out to Amey. She is very knowledgable, professional and passionate about what she does. With my third son on the way I was determined to get a good start, especially since the first two were not that easy. I got her number from my doula but had also heard of her in the community especially related to natural childbirth and parenting. Amey came to my home when he was three days old and spent over an hour assessing both of us and explaining everything I needed to know. She identified a tongue tie on my son and suggested a doctor who was experienced in releasing the tie. When I continued to have trouble with latching and his slow weight gain she stayed in contact with me and even came back out. I know that Amey knows her stuff and because I am a nurse myself and work as a manager hiring nurses for the hospital setting. Although moms and babies is not my area of expertise, it is obvious when someone is an expert in their field and Amey is just that- an expert who is up to date on current evidence and practice. Amey is so amazing! Breastfeeding was delayed due to some medical issues, so Amey came to our house right after we were released to help work on breastfeeding. She did a before/after weigh in to see how much he ate, and relieve some of my anxiety! She checked in a week later to see how much weight he gained since she had been there. As a first time mother, I was seeking help with breastfeeding my son. I worked with two different lactation consultants in the hospital, and both described my son's latch as "perfect." However, I continued to have significant nipple damage and pain. I had been living off Motrin to allow me to continue to nurse my son, yet I was determined to breastfeed him exclusively. The pain was so unbearable that my husband found Amey for me and arranged a consultation. Amey was pleasant, professional, and seemingly knowledgeable. Again, she said that my son's latch looked great, and she offered a few position pointers. I thought that I was finally on the right track, and Amey would be the one to provide me with the help and support that I desperately needed. After the consultation, Amey sent me a text to see how breastfeeding was going. Despite her positioning pointers, I told her that I continued to have nipple damage and pain. Amey was responsive at first and suggested that I use some specific creams. However, the problem was not resolved, and Amey stopped responding to my text messages. I was basically begging her for help and asking her to provide me with another resource if she could not respond or assist. Still, no response. I finally contacted La Leche League and they put me in touch with another LC who will be coming over tomorrow. If you want a LC who genuinely cares about your breastfeeding success, and not just securing money from an initial consultation, then Amey is not the LC for you. As an update, I saw the new LC and she immediately diagnosed my son with what she called an obvious tongue tie, lip tie, and bilateral buccal ties. We had the ties released and are hoping for improvement in his latch/nursing soon! Unfortunately, all of these issues were missed during our visit with Amey. read more

I would 100% recommend AZ Breastfed Babies to women that are seeking to gain knowledge on breastfeeding. I attempted to BF my first and I was determined to do it with my second. Annie and Erin are the 2 ladies that helped me. I met Annie for a consultation at 34 weeks pregnant and went over positions, latching, and suggested products; she also sent me documents on everything we went over. While I was in the hospital I then started to stress because my baby's latch just was not right and the nipple pain began; we had to start supplementing due to jaundice and I started to feel as if I could not BF once I got home. Annie responded right away regarding a home visit after the hospital. I met Erin when my baby was 4 days old- she let me know my baby had a lip and tongue tie, needed body work, latching, weighed my baby before and after his feedings, sent me referrals, videos and the list goes on. The great thing about Annie and Erin is that they are always available to communicate through the Spruce app; I can honestly say I do not wait more than an hour getting a response back. Amey is absolutely amazing! As a first time mother, I panicked when my little guy wasn't latching well and making adequate diapers once I arrived home from the hospital. My first Mother's Day and I developed mastitis...again (within 6 weeks). I was already on antibiotics, but it was getting worse. I first met Amey 2 years ago while pregnant with my second child. She was a nurse at the birth center and taught all the new mom classes. I learned so much from her, even as a second time mom. When my son was 10 months old I began to struggle with supply problems and Amey was my first contact. She helped me know where to go to get the suction on my pump checked, she recommended several strategies to help increase production and she cared. She was always available when I had questions or concerns and she was able to give several suggestions on things to try. Now, I have my third child, 11 months old, and my first case of mastitis. When my week old newborn was having trouble latching and I was enduring cracked, painful nipples around the clock as we dealt with cluster feeding for days on end, I knew I needed a lactation consultant.
