I am really glad to find a great thai place in Durham. They have many vegan options as well. We ordered the pad thai, mango salad and Pad See Ew. Even though we ordered the pad thai spicy, it was on the sweeter side, but the flavours were good. Next time, I will try the more spicier version. The rest of the dishes were just amazing! The service is quick and great even when they were very busy.

The most authentic Thai food east of Toronto. The chef is Thai. The service is second to none. The food is authentically delicious.

I've ordered takeout from here a few times now and finally got a chance to try dine-in. I've already recommended this spot to a few friends who work in the area since it was in such an unexpected place for such a good Thai restaurant. The restaurant is quite small with just a few tables, but it feels like being back in Thailand with their aesthetics. Staff is friendly and service is very efficient both for takeout and dine-in. I've tried a few things, but finally got to try the Khao Soi and the spring rolls fresh. The spring rolls were fried nicely with food filling and good dipping sauce. The Khao Soi was great, really good flavour on the broth and tender beef. I've also tried their Pad See Ew, Chicken wings, Thai iced tea in the past and everything was good. Haven't had a bad experience yet and definitely one of the better places to have in Oshawa.

Came back after a few years and dined in for lunch. Service was good but seating is limited, but we got a seat very quickly. Dark wood covered the walls and floors with random decoration from one of those discount outlets. I wish the decor was more authentic Thai. Food was still good and spicy, I could have had more spice but it was fine for my wife. The curry was very good but we selected tofu but it seemed like it only had a few pieces. The chicken pad Thai was a fair portion and had ample chicken. Better than average Thai place - and fair value for the suburbs.

Ordered take out and I must say that the food was really delicious. I ordered the Thai fried rice with shrimp and chicken.

It's been a while since I started searching for a good poo Pad Pong Curry (Karee Soft Shell Crab) in GTA. Even in Toronto where there are hundreds of Thai-themed restaurants, there are only a few places that serve this dish. So when I found out that this place serves this dish in Oshawa, I was surprised. And that the reviews looked very positive. Excitedly, I tried their food! I live in the Durham region but this place is 30 mins drive away from home. I like to eat spicy food with beer (esp on Friday!) - So I placed a pick-up order through Uber and drove up there. We ordered - Tom Yum Seafood - Karee Soft Shell Crab Ayothaya is a cozy restaurant with only 5-6 tables. I admire their wooden interior space. So relaxing. I wished I lived close by! The food that was brought home was a bit surprising. When I opened the Tom Yum Seafood container, all I saw was full of cloudy milky red soup ( I expected clear red soup). It was not bad - but I wished that it were clear soup with more seafood items. I expected a heartier one (maybe because of the picture on the menu?) so I was a bit disappointed. Also, the vegetables inside (esp. coriander) were stringy and hard to chew. Karee Soft Shell Crab was OK. There were 3 crabs that had a good amount of meat but I found them mushy. I also found the taste was too sweet for my liking. I think I should adjust the spiciness next time.

We stopped by this little restaurant on a whim and we're glad to discover this little gem. Restaurant is small with four tables which are good for groups of 2-4. There is only one person front of the house so she gets super busy but service is great and speedy regardless. I just feel bad for her because between the takeout orders and the in person dining and running to the kitchen to bring out items, I don't think she had more than a 2 minute break. Ambience is nice and cozy and food is tasty. They mentioned they specialize in the curries but we didn't try them since we were having curry later in the week. We got the Kao sol with chicken and the pad Thai with shrimp as well as side of coconut rice. The pad Thai portions were good and food was flavourful. I wanted to try the mango sticky rice too but they ran out. Right now there is also a 10% off for those that check in on Yelp so make sure you use the app!! Highly recommend and happy to discover them in the hood

My friend and I had planned a get-together over dinner on Saturday. We typically find a midpoint for both of us in Durham region. I did a quick search and found Ayothaya Thai Kitchen. I looked online and it has practically perfect reviews. My friend is vegan. This place has a vegan section on its menu. I asked my friend if she was good dining here. She was. I like how easy it is to suggest restaurants. I got here roughly ten minutes before 6 pm. I have been to this plaza before. It has the closest Arby's from my home. I never noticed this eatery, likely because it's tucked away in a corner between Pizza Pizza and a tech store, and it looks new. There is always plenty of parking in this plaza, even with Arby's and Shoppers Drug Mart anchoring it. I backed into a spot and waited a bit before I saw my friend drive over. She parked next to me. We tend to celebrate our birthdays together. Considering how rough her week has been, I decided to cheer her up by giving her birthday gifts early. You can only book online reservations at this eatery if you have a party of four or more. There were two tables occupied out of perhaps four or five when we walked in. We got one in the corner. The interior is cozy. There's lot of wood and fake green leaves. It's a small place. It does swift business with takeout. You get a QR code on a piece of paper to access the menu online. The instructions say to place and pay for your order online. My friend had a question about the vegan menu. When our server came over, I asked if we could place our order with him. Yes. I then asked on my friend's behalf whether the vegan menu used tofu. It did. We got water in a pitcher to start. It was cold and refreshing. I wanted to sample a few items. When I'm in that mode, I tend to order appetizers. I did just that. We ordered these items: - Tom yum soup with shrimp (me) - Beef salad (me) - Vegan spring rolls (we split them) - Pad see ew (my friend's main dish) I'm glad that I got buy-in approval from my friend. The vegan spring rolls came out first. They were extremely crunchy and were hot out of the fryer. The filling had cabbage, carrots, glass noodles, and some mushrooms. So good! We got a mildly sweet dipping sauce that was perfect. My apps came out next. The tom yum soup with shrimp was excellent. It was spicy, but not burn-your-tongue spicy. I loved the mushrooms in it. I'd be happy with it alone. I added shrimp and got three whole shrimp. They weren't rubbery. They were perfectly done. I am still in salad mode. The beef salad was also excellent. It is on the spicy side. It had more heat than the soup. It contained onions, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, and basil. It was so fresh with the perfect tangy dressing. The grilled beef was tender and flavourful. I loved it. My friend's vegan pad see ew came out shortly after my food had arrived. She loved it. She said that the broccoli was crunchy, but the Chinese broccoli was more chewy than she had expected. She loved the flavours and noodles, and polished all of it. There was a couple at the next table. The woman ate with her mouth open, which was a bit of a distraction. It was my first time in ages seeing and hearing a grown person chew with her entire mouth wide open. Once she was done chewing, we could hear each other talk. There was plenty of interesting action during our over three-hour dining experience. We saw a large truck back into a spot in front of the store. We saw a girl dressed as Spiderman strike a pose against the window. We also saw the rain fall as we stayed dried inside. Oshawa is a happening place! The washroom is an oasis. The water flows out from the tap like a babbling brook. There are fake green flowers on the wall that extends up to the ceiling. It was clean and zen. I ordered an iced Thai milk tea to go. I got it in a heavy-duty paper bag. It was carefully sealed in a plastic container with plastic wrap on top. You can't exactly drink it running errands, but it tasted so good once I got home and put it in a glass. The straw that I got was compostable and made from plants. I asked that our bill be split. I was okay paying for the vegan spring rolls, but the nice server managed to split this dish. Nice! I paid with a credit card. I tipped and all was great. We spent some time seeing her open her birthday gifts. She was thrilled with everything. I was so glad that I brought some joy to her. Staff didn't mind that we hung out well after paying for our food. For a while, I have been trying to find a Thai restaurant that serves authentic food to call my go-to place. I have found it. Sure, it's in Oshawa, but it is worth the drive for authentic Thai cuisine. Everything that we had was delicious. Service was stellar. (203)

Really great food. Not much seating, so it's not ideal for large groups. Server was friendly and helpful.

Well this is an oshawa institution. I have been living in Durham region for a couple of decades…read morenow but never close. However we are always ready for a road trip to visit. The latest visit was as good as the first one. Same decor, everything still spotless, wait staff friendly and fast. Due to us missing Thanksgiving we had turkey. Yes real turkey not processed roll. Large portions as usual, house made gravy. Mmmm. Close to the 401 easy to get to parking on site. Excellent choice in the menu. And the house made rice pudding for dessert or strawberry pie. A must visit. Pricing very reasonable. Very busy during peak hours. Go!

A relic from the past is still going but I'm not sure that is a good thing…read more Dinner on a Sunday evening at 7pm was met with immediate news that they were closing at 8pm so we were told to rush and order asap. Our server was rough around the edges, very short and to the point. Food was good. A nice portion sized deli sandwich and crispy, golden cut fries. This is why you're coming to Teddy's and the cooks are making it happen. The decor is horribly dated, the restaurant hasn't been updated since the 90s. It's like looking at a parody restaurant from a movie with all the sports and tchotchke memorabilia on the walls from years gone by. It's in a desperate need of an update. My biggest gripe was the server taking our deserts order while in the middle of vacuuming the restaurant because they were closing soon and she obviously wanted to go home. It doesn't make you feel very welcome. They also locked the doors and told us we had to leave from the side door instead of the main entrance. I don't know if I'll be back, it doesn't feel like they want me to come back.
