I love this place and have been there several times. They fill up on the weekend, so be sure to get a reservation in advance. During my last visit, I was with a group of four and we were given two lanes to throw axes in. Before starting, we b-lined for the bar, since it had to close early due to COVID. I got several bottles of single-serve Prosecco, which they kept cold for me so I could grab each one when I was ready. One of the staff members gave us a briefing before cutting us loose. You can choose between small and large axes, and I opted for the small ones. There are chalkboards on the walls so that you can keep score and play games. I would definitely recommend playing against each other, since it was more fun that way. This place sometimes runs Groupons, but they really want them to only be used by first time customers (which I found out the hard/awkward way a while back, though they still honored it reluctantly). If you're looking for something to do, throwing axes and drinking beer/wine at Axes and Allies is definitely a great option. read more

What an amazing group of folks. The Axe ladies were super sweet and helpful. This last visit there were no dogs visiting, but was still a bunch of fun. They took our group of 8 throwers and made it so we could mingle while still have inc plenty of time to throw. We even got some additional help for one of the newbies that was just too darn tall! Beer options at the bar were great, and all and all it was a great time. We will definitely be going back! read more

MY FAVORITE WILMIMGTON EXPERIENCE EVER! Soooo who doesn't like a good beer and throwing axes? Except this place is that x 10. We made a reservation for 4 to do a little couples date night and I've always wanted to try axe throwing! Axes and allies is a little building right in the downtown area. You walk in and you are immediately greeted by the bar area (which the the bar selection of beer is AMAZING). There's 4 throwing stations inside and a few outside as well! You sign a quick waiver .. which you can also do at home and they bring you right over to start chucking your selection of axes. Don't fear there's really light ones for those that are like me and afraid to cause some serious damage with my lack of throwing knowledge. WESLEY AND PAUL are probably my favorite human beings ever! From the very beginning they hosted our party for what seemed like all night. They went over how to throw, the different weights of the axes, and different tricks to try as we got better. On top of all that they kept the drinks flowing. We had THE BEST time we have had in a long time. By the end of the night they were demonstrating all sorts of awesome tricks. Such a great vibe and awesome people running the show. We will 100% be back for more. This is the only way I want to spend my money in the weekends from now on!! Thanks PAUL AND WESLEY. This place is great. First off the staff were incredible. Mia the owner greeted us and got us checked in. Diana was our bartender and she was super cool and really friendly. Our "axpert" gave us a quick tutorial and we were off and running....er throwing. I was really stoked on the idea before we went, but some of the people in our group were really skeptical and weren't even going to join in. But at the end of the night we all agreed that we'll absolutely go back. 3 of us decided that if they start a league night we are going to join. The price for throwing isn't cheap. $25/hr. But the drink prices are and that helps. My Miller Lites were only $2.50 each. And even if you aren't throwing axes, it's still a cool bar to hang out in. Grab your friends and take a walk on the wild side! Such a fun place to break up the monotony of normal Saturday Evenings. Be sure to bring closed toe shoes but if you forget they have some loaners you can borrow. Paul Bunyon and Babe the Big Blue Ox stand proudly watching over the bar filled with sounds of laughter and smells of buttery popcorn. The AxPert will gladly teach you how to properly hurl an axe so you will be nailing the target and having a blast in no time. Great for large or small groups. The staff here was awesome. Very helpful in teaching you how to throw and explained carefully if you weren't succeeding! There are 8 lanes, and when you reserve I think you get 2 for your group, but it wasn't crowded when we went so they didn't mind if we spread out to get in more throws. My reason for the star takeaway was because some of the axes were showing signs of wear with the handles and could have been dangerous or caused a splinter or something. The staff was able to tape them up, but I think having some spare new axes on the side would've been the better solution. The walls were also in need of some loving care. They get a lot of axes thrown at all day and I'm sure they wear very quickly, but it's just wood, so replace them more often! Great bar, and popcorn free of charge to snack on while you practice you axe throw! read more

My girlfriend and I went here on a date... let me just say the environment and the atmosphere is extremely friendly. From the moment we walked in and walked out we felt like we were apart of the axes and allies family. The beer is ice cold and the axes are sharp. Bring your kids, your wives, and significant others... this place is electric. Great training for the apocalypse and a great way to spend a Saturday. 10/10 will come back! read more

This is an amazing place for all ages. My grandmother flew here to spend time with me for vacation and we found this place. We hadn't really planned out our itinerary but found stuff to do. I saw the place online and never had gone axe throwing before. The staff there is amazing and help us through our first time. It's nice to be right next to the bar while throwing your axe around. I am so disappointed. We came here 2 months ago and were blown away by the workers, owner and atmosphere. I told everyone they needed to come see first hand. Tonight a different story and it saddens me to write this post. I am all for local establishments!!! Tonight we had reservations at a restaurant and knew we would be running late- I called 6 different times starting at 7:24 PM, our reservations were for 8:45 PM. No one answered the 6 times and I left a voicemail. We showed up at 9:00 PM. No one was at the desk. At 9:02 PM owner came out of bathroom and said we were late, that our reservations had been given up because we were 15 minutes late. Obviously they had been given up before then because we were there right at 9:00 PM. Yes we were late, but how it was handle was very unprofessional and I was told "don't know what to tell you." Just hurts, only have ever said good things about the place and the owner was a doll the first time we visited. Never will we go back. And honestly will never recommend to a friend. read more

Four of us stopped by on Saturday to throw axes for the first time. Paul checked us in, reviewed the rules, coached us on how to effectively throw the axe using a one handed or two handed grip. The other couple was running behind and we didn't get started right on time but the staff was great in accommodating us anyhow. Great beer selection too. We had been to Axes & Allies once before and had a nice time. Tonight we had the worst experience. My husband and I had a lane booked for we thought 4 people But it was two. Not sure what the difference is, we could share OUR lane with whom WE want. Meanwhile people who had booked a lane for 8 people and showed up with 16 was no big deal. 30 minutes after waiting we are asked if we can wait 40 more minutes. They asked another couple if we can join them, they say no. I DO NOT blame them. Who books a lane to be forced to hang out with people they don't know?! So our only choices were to wait 40 minutes or get our money back. We chose to leave. We ran around all day to get ready in time to pick up our friends and show them how "cool" this place was. You turned down two returning customers with two additional friends instead of making the right choice. I'm sure you made more money from the 16 people BUT lost our support. read more
