The family and I stopped by on a chilly Saturday afternoon for Gears and Beers, not a ton of cars but enough to get us out of the house. Large outdoor area, resident food truck. We walked inside and were immediately greeted by the bartender. I ordered the coffee and cream, my husband had the Irish red and our daughter had some grape juice lol. Which Jessica was so nice to offer her. We found a cozy corner with a couch and a couple chairs and our little one was thoroughly entertained with all the books and games. They brew their beer in house, along with a few THC drinks and a full bar, if beer isn't your thing. We can't wait to come back for one of their many events or just for a chill day/night out. read more

Stopped by for the Oktoberfest event . Found parking with no issue. Super crowded beautiful day for the event , wonderful German music and food . Purchased a ticket for a beer and checked out the food trucks. Decided on a pretzel and beer. The pretzel was from Croftons - it had the perfect amount of salt on it . Had the Oktoberfest beer - beautiful color , taste was smooth and well balanced - not harsh, no bitter aftertaste. Definitely worth it. read more

Love this place! Friendly staff. Great place to relax with friends and family. They have a comfortable inside and outside area.

This is the place responsible for sticking flyers halfway down your driver side window with no concern that it might rain that day or evening. They did that to my new 1 week old car and the result was a stuck on nightmare that took a lot of time and effort to remove. I had to search three different stores to find a razor scrapper and spent 1/2 hour scrapping it off. The scrapping caused a permanent scratch to my window. And because they shove it partially down your window so it doesn't blow away there is still part of it that I guess will forever remain stuck to the window of my car. Even a novice business manager knows you shouldn't put flyers on cars or you might end up with either a vandalization charge or a lawsuit, which is exactly what I'll do if these idiots do it again. I question the intelligence and the competence of a place that would do this and damn sure would never eat or drink here lest I question my own intelligence. read more

It was our first time here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon! We came because they were having Latin night and hosting 2 of my favorite food trucks; Wilmiricans and Made in Venezuela! There was also a DJ playing Spanish music! There are tables outside to sit at and inside they have tables and a comfy seating area! Some board games that my teen played! Some games on the side for the little ones as well! It's a great spot for groups and if you have kids they can run around outside so you don't need to worry! The beer selection was good as well! It really is a cool spot to have beer, listen to music and it is away from Road Noise and large enough to spread out inside or outside. Stopped here on the way home from Southport. This is probably my favorite brewery in Wilmington. The brews are consistently top notch. There was an event going on inside today, so it was quite crowded and loud, but we managed to snag a seat on the couches after standing for a bit and had fun playing cards. There is a great outdoor area (but it was super hot today). There were also several food trucks outside. Our service was amazing and as soon as anyone left a table, someone was right there wipnig it down for the next customer. Great beer and great atmosphere. read more

Today I attended the Waterline Brewing End of Summer party. I had never been inside Waterline before. The building is huge with an art gallery attached to it. There is a stage outside and inside for live music. You can go into that actual brewing part and look at how it's made. The inside has plenty of tables both high tops and low tops. Our table was very shake and spilled my drink on me. I felt the interior to be more "dive bar" like than anything. The beers are great and the service was great. Kids and dogs are allowed here. The view of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge alone is worth coming here. read more

Bartender was excellent, beer was even great. Frankly, the staff we interacted with can better serve a different establishment who's owners actually value their customers. Had interaction with the owner (or at least an owner) that left a terrible taste in my mouth today: My father and I were there to enjoy a few beers and get a few to go, the woman who identified herself as the owner was showing a scrapbook of the bar's transition from whatever space it was previously to some other people, no big deal, cool to see a space transformed. At some point she transitioned from that to the task of "repairing" some drooping LED lights under the seating area of the bar, stated aloud that she could use someone with some mechanical aptitude, I stepped up (and away from my drink and conversation with my father) to lend assistance because mechanical aptitude is something I have. Proceeded to spend 10-15 minutes helping her reattach lights to the underside of the bar, we concluded and I sat back down. Not sure I got so much as a "thank you" for the effort which doesn't sit right with me but whatever... She resumed her position of talking to others, and we engaged in conversation a few times. She lamented the "hardships" of running a place like this... You know, tasks as mindbogglingly difficult as maintaining caulking on various surfaces and putting sticky tape on LED light strips... Feeling a little awkward and trying to make small talk and save the interaction while not completely waylaying my time with my father I interjected that "well yeah maintenance sucks but at least there's beer when you're done" only to be responded to with something to the effect of "I've been doing this since 2015, I don't even like/care about the beer anymore, it's not an incentive..." At that point I pretty much shrugged and shake my head; decided to just finish my drink, thank our excellent bartender and leave. Not going back again, especially if this the the attitude of the owner. With some time for reflection I actually think I should have asked her, just to be sure, if she knew I didn't work for her and had no obligation to help her with anything in her bar... I feel like she viewed our interaction as something I was obliged to do despite being a paying customer... A more spiteful person would have pulled the lights they helped fix down on their way out with how unappreciated their action was by the OWNER... 10 out of 10 service by the bartender, 1 out of 10 experience meeting the owner... Really a shame, without big attitude changes by the owner this venue is dead to me and I'll share the story I detailed here with everyone I can. read more

Good brewery with a nice indoor space. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy so I didn't get to experience what looks like a nice outdoor space as well. They had music which added to the experience. I was able to try the Scotty (Scottish Ale) which was good but to me lacked the depth of a scottish ale. The NEIL IPA was really good though. Ended up getting two of those. Bartenders were fine, but seemed to be all business, ie not suggesting anything or asking what type of beers I typically like. read more

I've been here a couple of times with friends. Recently we went to enjoy the Scottish gathering. There was a food truck (Mommiez) that took forever to get our food - one person working the food truck. There was live music and of course beer! I'm not a beer drinker, so I had a glass of wine with my lunch, an excellent curry chicken salad on a multi-grain bread - a hefty portion of chicken . Friends enjoyed the variety of beers on hand and their lunch too. Someone from the Scottish 'club' had haggis for those willing to try it. I had a tiny, tiny, tiny taste. Yuck!! I can eat pretty much everything but won't try haggis again. We will be back tomorrow for the Oktoberfest (2 Oct 2021)! read more

One lovely Sunday, my friend and I were trying to get some steps in and decided to walk all the way over to Waterline. The location is close enough to downtown but is a little bit of a walk, or a short drive. They have a nice outdoor area with picnic tables and games like cornhole, and then inside it is a decent size with a door to see where they brew their beers. They have a good amount of selections on draft to choose from and have some cooler sparkling waters and other beverages like kombucha. The vibe is super laid back. I know that some days they have food trucks and they do little festivals out in the parking lot near them which are always fun to attend. I have really enjoyed some of their seasonal drinks. The Amber is good, their Pickle beer is delicious when they have it on tap, and you can never go wrong with the Kolsh. read more

This is a really cool place, has a huge property with plenty of parking available and away from other restaurants and such. I came here for event and brought my wife and son. They have a great variety of drinks from craft beer made in the same building too ciders and wine. They are very friendly and will let you sample everything before you make your decision. The round about price for a glass is 5 dollars. I had a light beer which was very good. Inside they have a stage and plenty of seating and space! Waterline was our last stop on a two day, eleven stop brew tour of Wilmington. It was super, crazy, nasty hot (105 heat index) outside and their taproom was a welcome retreat. There's a nice flow to the space with seating options from barstools to high tops, to sofas. Outside there's an air hockey table, basketball shooting game (both free) and outdoor seating. Obviously we stayed inside and had a flight of four - and the winners are...the envelope please Rye IPA - the only one I had seen today - bonus points for originality and taste. First time at this brewery. We were pleasantly surprised with the appearance of the taproom and how spacious it was. We initially sat at the bar and ordered flights. I started off with Waterline beers. I can honestly say they have a good product. Their stout and Belgian triple topped off their line up along with their red ale. The employees were also great. Very friendly and courteous. We were hungry so we decided to relocate outside for the food truck. Waterline does offer small bites inside which was great. The food truck was 2 Bros Coastal Cuisine. Different review. The outdoor seating area was good as well. Really couldn't tell the brewery is located under a bridge. Overall great experience. This was our first stop last night for my friend's birthday. I wasn't sure what to expect as we rounded dark corners off the beaten path. Upon arrival we discovered that it was busy and yet there wasn't a struggle to find parking at all. Outside there was a food truck which was pretty exciting! I wish I wouldn't have eaten before I got there! As we entered I immediately saw pups and was pleased. I'm a magnet for dogs and love that this brewery is dog friendly. Additionally, the live band was amazing! I am a lover of cider so when I saw their board with a few I hadn't tried I knew that's what I was ordering :) I ended up indulging in two flavors from the same company: The first was Schilling pomegranate and the second was Schilling pineapple passion fruit. Both were delicious but the pineapple passion fruit was the bee's knees! Next our group wandered outside too have a friendly air hockey competition. Uh, so FUN! Though we didn't play basketball there were several people enjoying that while we were enjoying air hockey. We also enjoyed walking around looking at the art! This bar was so much fun! The drinks, the music, the fact that it was dog friendly, the games, the food truck... I can go on and on! Definitely need to hit this place up! read more

This is easily one of my favorite places in town! Conveniently situated under the CFM Bridge with lots of ample parking, hubs I visit here quite often! They do not frown upon leaving your car onsite as they pride themselves on safety. I am a huge fan of their stout which I what I drink here most often. Hubs likes their red ale and I give it a thumbs up also. I recently tried a special brew that was interesting, yet delicious. The tomato basil gose was very light and needed a side of pasta you can even step into their brewing room for a view of the fermenters! They often have live music and there is even an art gallery on site that you are free to browse through at your leisure. You can almost ALWAYS find a local food truck on site and they are typically hosting some type of event including local farmers markets, bike scavenger hunts, and fundraisers. And if this place couldn't possibly get any better, they are a dog friendly establishment! It's a must-do that is slightly off the beaten path in downtown Wilmington! read more

Knowledgeable and friendly bartender, great selection of beer including very good XPA made with New Zealand Hops and also a Dill Pickle Gose with more of a refreshing cucumber taste with sass than sour pickle. The indoor space was surprisingly large and warmly/festively lit. The outdoor space is large with 13 picnic tables, some umbrellas, a bandstand, and plenty of room for more chairs. Waterline has a great outside area and we happen to come on a night with a drumming group practicing and performing! They were super friendly and invited us to drum along! As for their beer, we enjoyed a shared flight of their IPA, Red, Oatmeal Stout, and Tripel. Their Oatmeal Stout is flavorful and very light. The Red was on the hoppy side. The Tripel wasn't as strong as others I've tasted but has a nice Carmel-y aftertaste. Nice and easy place to walk to after exploring the River Walk! read more

Wilmington's newest brewery as of February 2016--we happened to check it out on opening weekend. We went on a rainy Saturday night and this place was jamming! Live music, food truck, good beers, and a bustling atmosphere. My party of four found a gathering spot inside in front of the stage and had a place to set our beers near the soundboard. All the tables and bar stools were occupied, but that was alright with us. One of the roaming bartenders/servers was very helpful and attentive to our needs despite the place being really busy. They had a great variety and selection of beers. My wife and I each got a flight of different beers so that we could try them all. Not a bad one in the bunch! I was in love with their Rye IPA. The music was great too. I would definitely visit Waterline again, we had a great experience here. read more

I really enjoyed this brewery! There is a parking lot, which is a definite plus. I enjoyed a Painting with a Twist event there, which I think they do once a month there. I was able to try two different types of ciders. The inside is spacious and well laid out. There was also a food truck outside to enjoy food from, with a bunch of outside seating. Came here for opening night, as part of the bombers beer tour, Mardi Gras, some other event, and most recently the comedy show. This place just keeps getting better. Beers, bands, entertainment, great seating inside and out. Easy bartenders that can even handle huge crowds. There is almost always a great food truck waiting outside to serve you. The beer selection is wonderful. The beers they brew in house are varied and palate pleasing. My favorite, by a long shot, is the Belgium Triple! This is a small pour beer with a lot of punch. Disappointed. I really liked this brewery, it has a good atmosphere and good beers. Due to the pandemic, I stopped in to get beer to go. I noticed that the beers to go cost more money per pint, than if I drank them at the brewery. The bartender confirmed my observation. I understand that businesses need to make money in these hard times, which is why I chose to support/buy local.
