This place is really big and spacious.. when I first pulled in parking lot I was greeted by the big sign on side of building.. what's kinda funny is it feels so far from the busy streets of Wilmington but actually it's on Randall parkway .. road that connects to college ! It was a quiet time around 245 only 2 folks in.. the sweet bartender was ready to let me try anything I wanted but I chose to do a flight.. I was happy with my choices! One even reminded me of like a corona with lime.. very light and hint of lime. .. so there is lots of seating inside.. but I really wanted outside so that's what I did.. sipped my 4 choices and took in the shade at table outside.. if I had thought of it I would have gotten food to bring or something and hung out longer because it's a pretty cool spot!

Hit this place up on a Saturday in November in nice weather at about 2 pm and it was hoppin'!!(pun intended). Lots of beers to choose from across all styles and prices are the norm for Wilmington and other craft breweries. Think about 7 bucks a beer plus tax with higher prices for higher ABV brews. They had an inside and outside bar both going at the same time and also had a food truck out front. Lots of parking, but it was so busy that getting a place to park was a bit of a competition. Tv's were playing college football games all over the place inside, but it was very loud so we found a nice spot upstairs and outside on the balcony. Very nice for people watching and enjoying the weather out there. Plenty of available tables, but lots of people there too. WiFi was strong and free just like 'merica! Nothing at all wrong with this place, but the beers didn't wow me and it was difficult getting a parking spot, so that's why it's 3 stars, not 4. In house food, lower prices on their beers and they would another star as well.

Went here for a Scottish event. The place was nice and clean. I tried a new beer electronic Fog (grapefruit) which was pretty good and close to a shanty. The bartenders were busy and not to attentive or really friendly. More just matter of fact, I got work to do. I still had a nice time and that is all that matters. They had a great Scottish band for that day. Not sure if they have music at other times. Not sure if I would go back. Not really a brewery girl. If you are a brewery person, tried it and decide for yourself. May 7th

Support local. Drink good beer. Eat good food. Enjoy creative and awesome cocktails. It's all here! The beers are all from Flying Machine Brewing (of course). They had a nice variety of styles including a big old double ipa that I loved. The cocktail menu looked awesome. I need to go back just to try some of those. The food was impressive. Like really impressive. You'd never guess that menu and quality came from a brewing company. I was able to try whiskey deviled eggs, hot pimento cheese dip, and cast iron shrimp for appetizers. All were exceptional. Those whiskey deviled eggs were absolute game changers. For the main course I went in for the Flying Machine burger with sweet potato fries. One of the best burgers I've ever had! The beer cheese, candied bacon, and onion worked with a nice juicy burger and warm bun to create an experience! Sweet, salty, juicy, crunchy, savory...it all happens in every bite. This may be my favorite burger ever ever. Like ever ever. For real. The service was great. We had a large party celebrating a retirement and our whole table was served quickly and kindly with consistency throughout the evening. Maybe the only downfall is it can get pretty loud in there. But this was a Friday night so that's to be expected. Overall can't wait to go back!

Plenty of easy parking, easily found, lots of indoor space, outdoor seating both upstairs and downstairs, and big projected menu so you can look at options. No food, but they do have a food truck. Service is very friendly and they offer samples. Beer is very good, and I always appreciate diverse selections.

Favorite brewery we have been to so far In Wilmington. Bag Lunch - peanut butter and jelly flavored and Trying to Reach You - cinnamon and maple syrup flavored were my favorite two beers. Really nice space to hang out.

I always enjoy going to Flying Machine as their facility is large and people aren't sitting on top of each other. The beer menu is on a very large screen along a wall. There were about 10-15 beers to choose from, so I'm betting everyone can find something. Flights aren't available right now, but when they are they're served in cool looking wheel gears. They could really stand to add more umbrellas outside. There are picnic tables, but not much shade.

Love the vibe of Flying Machine Brewing! The beers are all excellent and the space, while large, is inviting. We've stopped in a few times with our pup and love to see that they are very dog friendly. Their beer garden is really nice too for cooler evenings. Will be back!

I absolutely loved this place. The beer is amazing. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. If you are in the area, consider this a top spot for the beer scene.

The beer here is some of my favorite in Wilmington. The reason for four stars is that they tend to be understaffed. So, they have had slow but courteous service each time I've visited. On my most recent visit, I got the Landbier, States of Sky, Volksbeir, and Breakfast with Pegasus. The first three beers were light, drinkable, and not too complex. The Breakfast with Pegasus was such a curveball and I loved it. It tasted like pancakes and ice cream, without being too sweet. On my previous visit, I had gotten a flight of all the "eclectic" beers and that was a great time. Their brewers are so creative and there really is something for everyone. One afternoon, my friend and I both ordered a flight and tasted each of the eight beers. There are four beers to a flight. We then created our own personal rankings and talked about why we liked/didn't like each one. If you have a date with a beer snob coming up, I would highly recommend doing this activity. We also played UNO after, since they have board games. This place is dog and kid friendly. They also tend to have food trucks during busy times. Also, the space is huge and there is plenty of seating. So, I've never had an issue getting a table. The industrial decor is well-executed. There are lots of gear-inspired things. They have a little gift-shop, if you want a memento of this awesome brewery.

And it's still our favorite place in Wilmington. Especially love when grimburger is there!

I had the Electric Fog IPA which was very good, hazy. The wheat beer is also very good. Highly recommended.

The under-21 policy is divisive but there are plenty of good nearby places to bring kids (Bend,…read moreOTP, etc...) They don't regularly have food so confused why you'd bring small kids anyways. I like the atmosphere. It feels like a casual bar and for that alone it's worth going to. And even when they allow kids during the days they have a section that prohibits them which is surprisingly relaxing. Nice to sit with our dog and relax. Beers are decent. Some are a little spendy but I once you get used to the specials the prices are more than reasonable. Sundays are awesome.

Beer was great and so was the ambiance but we quickly had one beer and left as we felt unwelcome…read moreoutside with our 1 and 3 year old as we approached the 6pm time they wouldn't be allowed. I can understand why this might attract some people to this place but it's completely excluding a whole group of people who might be able to go out without their kids. Not everyone has babysitters or would love to go out with their whole family as a unit. Also what if you're meeting a friend group that doesn't have kids and you can't come in because you have a child? Having young kids can feel difficult enough but taking away a space where they can be safe in an open green area while you can enjoy other adults and a nice beer is just hurtful. Also they often say come back in the afternoon but most parents with young kids know that's when they nap.

We found through a search, and wandered into Flytrap Brewing this past weekend for the first time…read more Located at 319 Walnut Street. The space, equal parts cozy taproom and shaded beer garden, feels both vibrant and homey. If you're reading this and asking yourself what is the region's native icon, the Venus Flytrap - we have catching up to do. Read history below the review. The mood was easygoing. Two staff members, juggling orders with grace, kept the taps moving and the vibe relaxed. We had the Oatmeal Porter (dark, smooth, layered with chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel) And the Brook's Mulberry Lemonade (a blend of house-made lemonade and beer, fermented with mulberries hand-picked from Brook's garden). Both were super delicious. Flytrap Brewing sits tucked in a quiet Wilmington neighborhood, and it feels like it belongs there. The thoughtful drinks, easy crowd, and unpretentious energy, we will for sure be back! History: The Venus flytrap, scientifically known as Dionaea muscipula, is native to a limited area of the southeastern United States. ONLY naturally growing specifically within a 75-mile radius of Wilmington, North Carolina. This area includes parts of both North and South Carolina. The plant was first discovered in the late 1700s. So respected in North Carolina, removing or poaching them from public lands or private property is a Felony. Purchasing them or growing yourself is praised.

I don't know if Flytrap has a new brewer or what has happened to their beer or choices in beer styles but for quite some time now I have not found a beer from them worth stopping in for. It's extremely disappointing because they used to have some of the best beer in town but not anymore.
