We stopped into Mad Mole Brewing a few weeks ago. They're at 6309 Boathouse Road, Wilmington. We loved the place. The beer list runs deep. Plenty on tap, and more waiting in cans and bottles if nothing on draft grabs your attention. The bartender made the visit. A young woman, friendly and genuinely helpful, the kind of service you remember. We'll be back. No question about it! read more

We loved this brewery in Wilmington! Our friends come here all the time and the staff were so friendly. It feels like family. They offer several beers to choose from and my husband enjoyed their flight. There is usually a food truck at this location which I love. We'd definitely go back. read more

For sure the real deal in Wilmington. Special place in my heart to be solar powered, as well. My good friends at Cape Fear Solar installed their solar modules and system, super cool. Solar-powered beer tastes better. The ILM is my fav, but Sarah teased me with three additional samples, all good! The food truck was here, I did not partake. This is a great space with indoor/outdoor seating...the bar is pretty cool - seat with the murdered mole...you figure it out... Love this place, will be back. read more

Great brewery. Awesome merch. A much place to visit. I can't wait to come back to visit.

Great brewery with an ample selection for any palate. I like lagers and they had a good one!

Beers are delicious and they usually have really great food trucks, service is friendly, vibes are local hole-in-the-wall warm.

We visited here twice in our six day vacation. Love the vibe, open concept with several holding tanks behind the counter. Liked the four different types of beer we had. The service was great with engaging staff ready to answer and questions or give selection advice. No doubt we will be back! read more

What a Great place, You are greated by Sara(h) when you walk in what a friendly young lady with a great beer menu of all the Mad mole favorites and they do have Cider even though its not on the menu. Ask for the Password for WiFi, I have Verizon and it is a dead zone, cool little place, keep in mind we got there and it was slow, had not been open long, I can see how it could be very crowded, quiet areas at the back and outdoor seating with heaters. We were waiting for the food truck to arrive but it never showed, went to a better selling part of town or just plain forgot their commitment to MM. We will come back just to say hey to her and her man (at the bar), Didnt give me permission to add his name sooooo.... Check it out, well Done MM read more

Love the name of this brewery and the whole mole theme! Service was very friendly, beer is good, and I love that the pilsners are served in proper glasses! Parking is easy, they are dog friendly inside and outside, and have a self pour water tap. read more

Mad Mole is hands down the best brewery in Wilmington. My husband make it a point to stop by every time we are in town. Their IPAs are always on point, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and the space is relaxed and clean. Their Couch Time THC seltzers are the best seltzers that I've ever tasted- great flavor and dosage options. 10/10 recommend this brewery to anyone visiting the Wilmington area. read more

We love this place! The bartenders are so friendly and attentive! They act like they want you there rather than seeing you as an inconvenience, as a few other breweries do. They have a wide selection of beer and it is ALL good! I can't believe how many good beers they have! Their flights are the best way to sample it all. They have live music and food trucks on Saturday nights. This place is large so you will be able to spread out and get away from people. They also have a nice outdoor area, but we've sat inside when there because the bartenders are fun to chat with (and I'm not a person who has to be chummy with everyone). Also, don't overthink it - they don't hover over their patrons either. Dogs are welcome! read more

On our way home from vacation and spent a day in Wilmington. This was by far my favorite brewery. I love the whole theme going on and the beers were spot on. Darth Mole and Star Nose hit the spot. Don't overlook a strip mall spot, you may find a hidden gem. read more

Love Mad Mole! The fact that it is a solar powered brewery is super unique and awesome! The staff is very friendly and helpful and allows you to have a taste in order to choose the right beer for you! We moved to Wilmington a few months ago and this is probably our most frequented brewery. The beers are good and the location is great with an indoor/outdoor set up. It is a little on the smaller side, so limited seating I would say, but a good amount of picnic table seats ourside. Dog friendly! They often have events, most recently we went to their Oktoberfest celebration and they had a food truck, live band, and a craft market in the parking lot! It was awesome... we actually went to 3 other Oktoberfest celebrations and this was the best one! Wish we had stayed longer! read more

You order your beer at the door (flights are currently unavailable) and take it to enjoy inside or outside. We sat inside, both spaces are on the smaller side with the tables being socially distanced. This brewery is neat because the brewing process is powered by solar energy. We tried the Darth Mole (stout), Boston Mole Party (IPA) and Molicious (IPA). The names are clever but the beer itself was just okay. I wasn't huge on either IPA and my husband thought the stout was average. read more

Staff is great. Not their fault there was a 50 person birthday for a 1 year old. So disconcerting.

Mad Mole is a great spot with really good beer. It's kind of off the beaten path and out of the way from the other breweries in the area, but that's kinda why we like it. Their beer garden has plenty of seating and is a nice space to hang when the weather is good. The inside is industrial and the vibes are real science-y (they are powered by solar after all!) I love their Grapefruit Pilsner (Molesonboro Island) for a hot day. read more

great local beers. the brewery does have a distinct odor when you walk in. the food truck options make this a great experience read more

Mad Mole Brewing - menu - Breweries Near Me - Wilmington, North Carolina

First time at the MadMole but Cheesesmith Truck was out front and my friend was signing with Moxie & Flo so it was about damned time I made it out to thiss brewery. It's tucked away from the Main road and a little tough to find when it's dark out and you have no clue which way to turn. But when you find it you will be delighted. Fantastic outdoor seating, loads of parking, the taproom is gorgeous with plenty of seating at the bar and tables! While the band was great and thee food truck was incredible the beer was delicious!!! Great selection, flavor that is spott in and more than you expect. Even their merch is extra wonderful. Service was unexpected. It was a packed house and the bartenders were all over it. We never waited for service. They were friendly laid back but on it! read more

I really wanted to like this place more than I actually do! It's a great spot. The bar is amazing and beautiful with the brass countertop and the giant steel brewing equipment everything they use solar power!!! I want to like it but sadly what I tried was all pretty average. Not bad but just average. Came for the Moledalorian but like The Last Jedi it kinda fell flat. Slightly bitter with a weird tobacco after taste... This is not the way. The best I tried was their raspberry. Light and refreshing a solid beer especially on a hot N.C. summer day. In Wilmington's ever growing craft beer scene Mad Mole is decent but it could be way better. read more

This is such a cool brewery! Highly recommend stopping in! They actually are powered by solar panels and were just entered in and WON the nations best solar powered micro brewery! Besides that the beer is really good! Our bartender was so nice! Very friendly and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything else. I had a flight with the darth mole (great darker beer), the raspberry (light and fruity), mole party (a really nice tasty IPA) and one mole (another good IPA). I really liked all the beers I had and two people in our group got Sauvignon blanc and said it was good. And there's a really cute outdoor area with little lights and multiple larger picnic tables, would be good for a group. There were some yard games outside. And the outdoor patio was dog friendly! read more

Oh Mad Mole, how I wish you were closer to where I actually live! Fortunately, I take trips to Wilmington often and I think MM is my favorite brewery there! The beers are fantastic-- with the most creative names ever. Their IPA options are ridiculous. If you are a fan of a solid NE IPA, you won't be disappointed here. They had multiple varieties of both east and west coast style IPAs and I absolutely tried them all! Hard to choose a favorite because they are all SO GOOD. And their dark beers are equally fantastic-- I especially love the Darth Mole! Honestly, all of their beers are wonderful and I have yet to leave this establishment without bringing home a growler or a crowler because I couldn't stand the thought of going so long without more of their beer. The space is small but sufficient with a friendly indoor area, some high top tables and a few larger tables, and a great back patio space with long picnic tables. Noise levels are perfect and there's always nice music playing too! The brewers and staff here are all super friendly and I was seriously impressed with their tap system too (ask them about it! read more

Great beer! I tried three beers from Mad Mole Brewing and enjoyed all three. I would be happy to visit Mad Mole again and would definitely recommend them to beer lovers in Wilmington. read more

Excellent brews. I got a four-pack to go and enjoyed it back in my home city after leaving Wilmington. I'd go again next time I'm in town.

Alright - not trying to be "that guy". Mad Mole was our second to last stop on day one of our Wilmington Brew tour ( after Wilmington Brewery and before Waterman's). The space itself is well laid out for being on the smaller side. Love being able to see the shiny tanks behind the bar and cool signage. Not sure about the mole theme origin but I'm wondering how many play on words using "mole" you can think up... So here comes the disclaimer - beer and people's individual tastes are completely subjective. I tried three beers - Molicious IPA, the Boston Mole Party NE Style IPA and the Raspberry Molay. I settled on Molicious and got a full one - halfway through that one I realized I didn't really care for that one either and left the second half. I love IPAs and try new ones all the time. The NE Style one also didn't have that really forward juiciness that you would expect. Okay - get the "boos" out of your system. So, support local. Try them for yourself and make your own decisions. read more

Dog friendly. Open air. Unique brewery. Mad mole is a completely solar run facility. Great staff. Great vibes. MMB has beer from several categories & options for your pallet. Mad Mole means mad scientist & the owners names combined. Pretty interesting! IPAs were great, unique ales but our favorite was the Raspberry Molay!!! Super refreshing and so wildly satisfying. You've got to stop in for the raspberry beer if nothing else. I promise it will call your name on a rando Monday afternoon. read more

Mad Mole might be the best craft beer in ILM. There's a fair selection, cool staff, and great beer! Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you... this place is special. Award winning solar powered brew! Enjoyed the varied selection. Dan really liked the IPA's. They swap up the brews but if you are a non IPA drinker, try Molevolence. Nice vibe. Very clean. Friendly staff. Food trucks for eats. read more

I bought a growler from them which was only about 2/3 full after the foam dissipated. I called and spoke to the manager who immediately offered to fill me up on the house next time. I got my free growler tonight from Kyle , a friendly guy from PA and we chatted about pizza and Chinese food. Good customer service is key to longevity in Wilmington...this was a great example of that. However a brewery must make good beer--mission accomplished! I got the stout last time and the triple Ale tonight. Both were fantastic, but I love triples so that was the winner for me. Thanks for great service and delicious beer. I'll be back! read more
