Overall my whole experience was perfectly described by "ok." I don't have any complaints and would not be opposed to returning, it just won't be top of my list. Waterman's has a very casual ambience - not quite beach-y but with a nice beach-town feel. They have a huge outside space including an area for a band/dj and a pretty spacious interior as well. Their beer seems quality but I did not love that the majority of the options were tropically themed with a lot of fruit flavors. That's not a terrible sin in beer but I would have a like a few more options with more traditional flavors. I did end up enjoying the IPA I got despite not normally being a fan of beers with a lot of fruit flavors. The food was also good if not great. I don't have any complaints, it just wouldn't be my first choice for eating when we're back in town again. I think the strength of this place is the space and casual atmosphere, it was easy to bring our kids to have a nice meal while we enjoyed some beers. Great local brewery! They have both indoor, outdoor and bar seating. They are dog and kid friendly, they had plenty of highchairs which is what I'm always looking for since we have twins. The food was phenomenal - I had never seen a brunch burger covered in sausage gravy but man am I glad I have now. The tots were crispy and the ranch was great, what more could you ask for! I searched for brewery today while in town and wanted something light then I saw they had mimosa flights! Yes please!! Upon entering driveway I noticed they had nice big spot of outdoor seating. Very inviting on beautiful day! It was a Tuesday early afternoon so not busy just yet.. the nice waitress told me I could sit wherever.. I saw a comfy leather chair by a big fireplace and went straight there. I just came from doc who gave me knee injection and was in good bit of pain..a sweet and kind young lady named Kelli ( Kelly with I because there's more than one Kelly) informed me that if I wanted to drink I could sit at bar but once I explained my situation and her knowing bar wasn't busy she totally accommodated me where I was. She brought my flight and checked on me several times to see if I wanted to order food because it's not just a brewery its restaurant.. I had eaten lunch already and she understood..there's TVs on wall for watching the game if it's on.. full bar along with brewery.. they carry other beers from nc as well.. seemed like they had something for anyone that walked in. I wanted to line Waterman's Brewing which has a laidback beachy ambience. I ordered from the "from the Sea" section of the menu since it is in a beach community. I ordered the fish and chips. Hmm. I got the batter and chips, hardly any fish we're sacrificed in the making of this meal. So I couldn't blame the batter for not bonding since the fish clearly has issues. The batter's only option was to sop up copious amounts of oil like unrequited love. The French fries were very, very salty and the Brussels Sprout Cole slaw tasted like a spoonful of grainy brown mustard with a slaw. Inedible. I love a good slaw and this rounded out the full plate of from the "Sea of disappointment" section. My wife had the salmon BLT with a salad. Her salmon was definitely present although no locally sourced. NC right! She made a better life choice than me and was satisfied. Hence the 2 stars. Waterman's was a washout. read more

Stopped in for lunch and a beer. This place has plenty of seating and would be good for a large group. Multiple tables and some areas with couches. Cool to be able to walk in and see the brewing equipment and they had a sign with what they were brewing. I had a salad- the berry beer vinaigrette was nice and light and fruity. My husband got the New England clam chowder and said it was really good- lots of clams. We split the peel and eat shrimp. I would HIGHLY recommend getting this. We got half a pound and this was a good amount for splitting between 2 people. The flavor was so good. I had the the strawberry basil sour beer. This was nice. Light, tart, and fruity. Such a cool hidden spot! We only found it because we missed our turn and so turned down this road. They have a huge indoor area and a big covered outdoor eating area. If you want to just drink, they have an outside area for this as well, but it's not covered. They have a wide variety of food to choose from, but come here for the beer! An impressive selection and they offer them in 2 sizes. I don't understand why more breweries don't do this! When you offer this great selection of beer, people want to try a lot of it and it's easier to do this with smaller serving sizes. Speaking of serving, ours was great! read more

I want so badly to love Waterman's, but have had too many bad experiences for it to be high on my list. Previously, I've had the long wait times, some lackluster food, the usual... but today kind of sealed the deal unfortunately. Today we attended the local vendor market and decided to support another local business amongst other local businesses, Watermans. First, we decided to try their spiked apple cider from the outside event table since it was so chilly out. $12 for an 8oz cup of apple cider with a shot of fireball. Pretty steep, in my opinion, but nonetheless. The cider seemed homemade (at least I hope that was apple floating around) and warmed us up, although it was served with a non-fitting lid. I informed the server that the lids didn't fit and I didn't want them to get sued by the wrong person who spills scalding hot liquid on themselves. She said "aw" and didn't turn to acknowledge what I was saying.. and continued serving with ill-fitting lids. As time goes on we decide to order take out from their brunch menu. Brunch burger & a burrito. The restaurant is nowhere close to being busy at this point so we figured it should be quick. Nope, 45 minute wait. Fine... we decided to wait even after the woman on the phone made me repeat myself three times and was incredibly rude. After 45 minutes we go in to get our order to find out our order never existed. Awesome! "That'll be another 30 minutes", no name taken, no payment, nothing. Trying to give benefit of the doubt, we try back in 30 minutes (1.5 hours after making our first call attempt at this point) - nope. "You still have orders in front of you" Meanwhile, the restaurant is averagely busy with three seats taken on the patio and several waitstaff hanging out chatting beside the bar. Stopped in for a quick brunch after a two hour paddle board session and it definitely hit the spot. Started with their Morning Glass of Coffee ale and oh my this was amazing. Clocking in at 10% this one will get your attention but it's super smooth with heavy coffee notes. Taste like a it should be a thick heavy stout but drinks as easy as the ale it is. Definitely recommend one or two. I had whatever their Sunday brunch burger was and it paired perfectly with the boozy ale. Portion sizes are perfect and the food is fresh and delicious. This was our 2nd time here and I had to update my review to 5 stars due to the amazing beers, delicious food and great service. The lunch menu is now offered at 1:00PM on the weekends, and I feel that's a good compromise. People that want brunch can still order off the brunch menu, and us folks that are craving a delicious, mouthwatering sandwich are now accommodated. We started with a few beers; my boyfriend had the oatmeal stout, and I had the sun glare Belgian and the imperial stout. All 3 beers were damn good, the Belgian was my favorite. Zac Brown is a talented fella! I had the shrimp po'boy with fries and my boyfriend had the blackened chicken sandwich with fries. My po'boy was fantastic. The tomatoes tasted like they were just picked from a garden, the shrimp were flavorful and fresh, the bread was so flipping good, and that aioli that they drizzle on the sandwich, is beyond reproach. My boyfriend said his chicken sandwich was seasoned very well (this was the 2nd time he's ordered it) and that he would get it again. We both loved the fries. Went for lunch today , tried out their curbside pickup and delivery menu. It was simple, checkout the menu , call them and place the order, we wanted curbside pickup. We ordered , fried shrimp tacos, there are two tacos with cabbage, cilantro, tomato and a lime creme sauce condiments, with a side of house made chips. We also ordered fried shrimp po 'boy, the condiments were shredded lettuce, tart pickles and a remoulade we left the tomato off it, also with house made chips. The order came in 15 minutes, which is what they said . It was easy payment and food delivery . Both meals were hot with plenty of house made chips. The shrimp on both were tender ,perfectly seasoned and fried and plentiful. The lime creme sauce on the tacos was delicious and added a fresh note to them. The po'boy , shrimp were also plentiful, tender well seasoned and fried perfectly. The remoulade on the po'boy was not as spicy as it has been in the past , but still good. The house made chips are great , perfectly seasoned ,well done- not underdone at all. So happy that they did not close their doors during COVID-19 , thank you ! I ordered the blackened tuna tacos with a side of steamed veggies. The tacos were yummy; loaded with tuna (cooked to order). Before you think that Watermans has jumped on the craft beer bandwagon and dismiss them I urge you to give them a try. Their beer is excellent as well as their food and you'd never know they've only been open for less than a week. This is not the first rodeo for these guys and it shows. Their brewer has years of experience and it shows. I had one of the Brittle Blonde which was a smooth, exceptionally easy drinking pour. The chef has a background in New Orleans cooking and from what I've heard, makes a killer gumbo. I shared the shrimp appetizer, hummus, and beer cheese with chips with friends. All the food we sampled was on point. Our waitress was prompt, friendly, and offered great suggestions. Decor wise is simple with brick accents, painted concrete floors, a large fireplace for winter, and plenty of surf art. Cornhole is outside as well as outdoor seating. Prices are very reasonable and beer pours come in eight or 16 ounces. They are also gearing up a Wednesday night run club and a surfboard/dog/post surf washing station and change room with hot water so you can come off the beach, rinse off, change, and grab some food and beer. As a Harvest Host member, I stayed in their parking lot for the night in my small Class B RV. Very enjoyable. I ate dinner and had a flight of beer on their lovely patio. The fish tacos were delicious, and I enjoyed sampling the 5 different beers in the flight. At only $10, I thought the flight was very reasonably priced! I was glad to be able to have my little dog join me for dinner. My waitress was Darien... She was wonderful. She suggested one or two of the beers, and was very attentive.
