WOW!!! What a fantastic date night. I was running errands today and passed this place on the way to the post office. I randomly booked a lane for two and hoped my husband would enjoy a much needed date night. WOW! I cannot express how much this night surpassed my expectations. To begin, our bartender Alex (Heem) was on top of our orders all night. Then imagine my surprise when I discovered the small food menu was tasty bites from Liberty! Sign me up for that cauliflower. My husband was obviously a natural at axe throwing, but being the mini human in the relationship I had some struggles. Ronnie our "lane keeper" came over and advised me on how to stand, position my hands, etc...and suddenly I went from throwing ZERO'S to fours and sixes. I'll be honest this may just be the best date we've ever had. I can't remember a time we've both smiled and laughed so much. Ronnie stuck with us the whole time, encouraging and challenging us both. My husband, while gloating about so many sixes in a row, spilled his beer, and Ronnie was instantly there to clean it up and take care of it. They validated our parking. Had great food, and brought out smiles in the two of us that haven't been seen in months. I recommend the Axe Bar the highest I think I've ever rated anything. Fantastic place to switch up the same old boring outing to a bar with friends! Came to celebrate a friends birthday. A friend who prefers whiskey over wine, so this was the perfect place. Never having thrown an axe, the staff here was great. Props to Ben (I think that was his name) for taking the time to show us the ropes and even provide feedback throughout the time. Check in was a breeze and the drink/food menu had something for everyone to enjoy. Though it would be good to have the waiver qr code in a couple places so not everyone has to crowd the check in desk. Pretty fun addition to Reno! Coming in when we were told it was by the hour I thought it seemed kinda short but boy was I wrong! I was tired 15 minutes in so an hour is perfect. I wore sandals and had to wear their loaner crocs so just fyi to make sure to bring shoes. We thought the game was fun, the staff are quick to point out any safety concerns and will address and correct. I didn't feel I was in danger at any time which was great! I really liked that they give you a few different versions of games you can play. Not that we really kept score but it was fun to see some different goals we can work towards. Bar is pretty cute I loved the vibe and the lights. It is a bit loud (not unexpected for axe throwing) so not really the place to come hangout to talk. There were just four of us, and that was perfect for us. We got in and completed the online waiver in 30 seconds. Easy! They took us to our lane a went over the safety rules. Painless! I tried a new beer they had on tap Reno As F*&K from Revision Brewery. It was great despite the name. They have food options from two neighboring restaurants. We had Garlic Cauliflower, Mozzarella sticks, Calamari fries, and Meatballs. All the food was excellent, and I would have all of them again. The staff was fantastic, with big smiles and "how can I help you attitudes" throughout the time we were there. We had the team give us pointers on throwing techniques. The Reno Axe Bar is so cool! We had an incredible time, and it wasn't too crowded. We met up with our group in the early evening and hung out in the downstairs play area. They had cornhole, ping pong, basketball, and much more! When everyone showed up, we got our lanes, and started throwing axes. There was a guy there who showed us the dos and don'ts of axe throwing. He was super nice and gave us really helpful tips & tricks to improve our axe throwing technique. There are different kinds of axe throwing games you can play to compete with your group. We played one where we had to get to exactly 21. The bar is great too, and there are many different types of drinks to choose from with really attentive bartenders. After having a nice dinner at Food and Wine Exchange, we walked out and the bar next door had a lot of commotion. We stopped to look inside and there were people throwing Axes??? The music was Dance-able and we watched for a couple of minutes. The door man invited us to come in enticing us by letting us know it was happy hour. From 10 pm to midnight they have a 'happy hour.' It's not a true happy hour in the general sense. It was basically $1 -$2 off drinks. Still, it was entertaining watching people throw axes as well as the bar atmosphere. We ordered 2 drinks. The Bloodhound, which was a blood orange mixed drink and we ordered a Splitting Maul which was sort of like a Arnold Palmer. The first drink was really good. But the Splitting maul was way too sour. Wife had to ask them to add simple sugar. Even then it was very sour for her. They have a food menu from the Food and Wine exchange (where just had dinner) and it seemed the prices were actually less? Maybe the portions are smaller. I will test it out some time. The prices are abit high to throw axes. $25 per person per hour. I have a family of 7 and that would be $175 for an hour of throwing...that is cost prohibitive IMO. They do recommend reservations however you can walk-in. Definitely a fun place, trendy and well...throwing axes while consuming alcohol. Can't imagine anything more fun while consuming alcohol in public! read more

To Axe throw you sign a waiver and pay $25 per hour. You can call ahead and make a reservation, which is highly recommended since it sells out on the weekends. They sell food, however the menu is a little limited. Otherwise, it has a full bar with some draft beer selections. Super fun place and I found the staff to be both friendly and attentive.
