We walked by Award Wieners to ride the Monsters ride. While waiting in line we decided to put in a mobile order. This way we wouldn't need to wait in line to order. It was pretty easy to order on the app. When you're ready and get the place you just let them know that you're here on the app. With my past experiences with the order ahead on the mobile app, you get your food pretty quick, but not this time around. I waited quite a bit, around 25 mins. Not sure why, though. I just got the all beef plain dog and my husband got the bacon one. We both liked it. The hot dog was juicy and tasted good. I used the Disney app to order from this location. I wanted to try their Carne Asada Fries. The service was quick and easy. The ambiance was great. How can it not be in Ca Adventure. The Carne Asada Fries sadly were just ok. The Fries and Carne Asada were both good. Great flavor in the asada and a good consistency in crunch and flavor for the fries. Guys, I've got to start off this review with some bad news, and it's really bad. As of last week, Award Wieners has discontinued their beloved film strip fries in favor of plain old boring fries. This is such a major disappointment and downgrade, because those were the best and most fun fries in the entire park! I'm not a fan of this change, but at least the hot dogs have stayed the same, which is a plus. If you're a wiener fan (hee hee), this is the place you want to go for all of your hunger pangs and cravings. This fast food outlet is known for gourmet-style hot dogs that go beyond the usual plain dog you expect from a theme park stand. They have plain hot dogs for pick eaters, but this is the place where you can get more creative toppings and fun options (especially during special times of the year when there are "limited edition" menu items). Seasonal menu items are often really weird (like the fried pineapple dog), but they're always worth trying if you are adventurous. The hot dogs here look as good as they taste, which is part of the fun. Portions are in line with the cost, so I never feel ripped off (although I would think big eaters would be disappointed in the portion size). There are classic gourmet dogs wrapped in bacon or topped with carne asada, Chicago style pepper dogs, and even a plant based Philly dog that's really, really tasty. The buns are soft and toasted too, and you can add stuff like cheese and the standard hot dog toppings. Seating is very limited so you may have to stand and scarf or carry your meal elsewhere in the park to find a place to sit. The Yuletide carnitas torta was pretty good, but the bread was too soft so it felt like everything was falling apart. Still, the flavors were good and the meat was soft and flavorful. It might be a hit or miss for some people because the texture throws a lot off. My brother thought it tasted like vomit. Lines for mobile orders and regular orders weren't clearly organized, so it took a bit longer than expected to figure out where to go. By the time I picked up my Impossible Dog, it had cooled down and the bun was a bit hard, which took away from the magic. The concept and flavors are there, but the timing didn't quite work out this visit. My family and I were on a mission this Disneyland/DCA trip to visit Award Wieners to try their new Torta de Milanesa! We finally found the time on our last day and we were not disappointed! We also ordered the Stuffed Pan Dulce as well as their Seaborn Strawberry Hibiscus Margarita and Brewery X, Baja Breeze beverages. Award Wieners is located in DCA down the Hollywood Blvd/Sunset Blvd streets, across from the Disney Jr. theater and Off the Page. They have seating next door that is covered and we usually never have an issue finding a table. The Torta de Milanesa was very flavorful and filling - it even comes with your choice of a Cutie or their infamous fries. My daughter wasn't a huge fan of the Stuffed Pan Dulce, she mostly just ate the strawberries out of it, but I loved the Baja Breeze - it was a Baja Blast soda with alcohol. The service is always so slow at Award Wieners even when they have lots of people working so I definitely suggest mobile ordering if you can to help cut down on some of the wait time. The seating area wasn't as crowded as last visit, so seating was readily available. Only one complaint...(thus the 4 Stars instead of 5) the WAIT! Other orders were "flying" out of the pick-up window...and everyone in my group/party had received their orders and were at the table waiting for me. They waited and waited and kindly...waited some more! Ten minutes later (I'm sure their food was already cold) I finally received my order...with the explanation of "the pickled vegetables were not ready and had to be prepared"....ok, really?! Apologizing to the rest of my family...we finally ate. Yasss...it was yummy, but there was that "long wait" sooo in this Yelper's opinion, on this occasion... It might not be the easiest sandwich to eat while walking, but thankfully there is plenty of shaded outdoor seating.
