Avva was delicious!! The service was friendly and helpful at explaining dishes. We split the mix grill for 2 and also the baklava with walnuts and it was all delicious. I recommend getting the bulgar- it was yummy! The many different meats were all so well seasoned and had a great grill flavor. The salad included was a bit bland but the red onions were SO good. The warm fresh naan was a nice touch as well! The baklava was sweet and crunchy and nutty- delicious. The back pergola was very nice, but all the seating was cute! There was a decent bit of foot traffic near our table. I would plan for reservations especially if you're going on the weekend! We will be back!

My friend and I went to Avva for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. There is a parking lot and street parking nearby. I made a reservation in advance. We sat on the covered patio and it was such a treat. So much natural light, the space was so cozy. We started with the hummus and haydari dips, which came with pita. I also ordered a chai latte. For our entrees, I ordered the chicken shish kebab which came with rice and salad. My friend ordered the Izmir omelette. Everything we ate and drank was delicious. The service was also great. This spot is so cute and cozy. Would love to come back for dinner one night!

A very beautifully designed restaurant -- we sat on the porch. Shared the mezze platter with a friend where we chose five different selections and all were really great. Very friendly service. A lovely spot in Aspinwall!

Went to dinner here with some friends and it was SO GOOD! Gorgeous restaurant & even better food. When I go back I will try to go with 3 other people again and get the exact thing we ordered. They have all these different dips (the meze section of the menu) and you can get 5 of them for $25 -- so worth it and quite literally some of the best dips I've ever had. So fresh. So flavorful. The 4 of us split the Mix Grill for 2 and the Beyti and everything was phenomenal. Never had Bulgur before but it was flavorful and would definitely recommend trying it! I've actually never had most of the things I ate here before and was very impressed.

Starting w a 5/5 but may change once I revisit. Will start by saying there was no lot to park in but there was street parking available. Kitchen also closes at 8:30 when it's not peak months. For the experienced, there are so many mezes that look great. I shared the babaganush and it was excellent. Really don't think you could go wrong. My friend order the chicken kebabs, which seemed average. I had the beyti and it was phenomenal. One of my favorite meals the past few months. So much flavor and beautiful presentation. There were a few more items that caught my attention so I hope to come back and try out more.

Got the mezze platter that comes with your choice of 5 cold dips. And then shared the mixed grill for 2 for the entree with of course, baklava for dessert. Everything was delcious, the hummus was smooth and the addition of the pomegranates brought just enough freshness. The ezme is to die for! They mentioned it was spicy, I didnt think so but out of all the dips, it was the spiciest option. Out of the grill, the lamb chops and the lamb kebab were my favorite. The baklava was also great, comes with 4 pieces so definitely perfect to share. The servers were so courteous and offered samples of wine and even the bulgur to make sure we would be satisfied. Very attentive. The ambiance is very clean, its a small interior with alot of outdoor seating but cozy and modern.

Stopped in on a whim to Avva with my mom and we were immediately seated and served by staff. We sat outside on the patio which had a refreshing atmosphere. The food was so delicious and tasted fresh. I will definitely be back.

10/31/2025 Ate list: Beyti w/ Bulgur - 7.6 This spot is great. Indoors is quaint and homey. Staff is incredible kind. I'll be honest, what I order was not at all what I expected to be delivered to me. The description read like a tomato featured Gyro but what arrived looked like a Beef Wellington platter. Caught me off guard. However, taste was great. The quantity of food was perfect. Was pleasantly surprised by this one and this spot.

We stopped at Avva yesterday afternoon about 3 Pm. It was between brunch and dinner and not busy. We sat at the table next to the fireplace and it was warm and inviting! Our waitress, Ashley was delightful! We ordered a bottle of wine, hummus and a lamb shiskabab. The hummus was delicious and the lamb came with salad and large scoop of bulgur. We got three skewers of lamb and it was charred perfectly and had great flavor. The warm pita bread was also very good and went well with our meal. Ashley was very attentive and answered any questions we had. I think we found our place to go after any visit to St Margaret's. Thanks again Ashley!

I went to dinner with a friend and we both loved it. We ordered a dip platter and got babaganush, htipiti, Greek style hummus, piyaz and trikafteri. My personal faves were the htipiti and trikafteri. Then we ordered the chicken and beef kebabs and shared those. They were both good I can't decide which I liked better. Then we got to try tge dessert and they were so good!! I can't wait to go back. The staff was so nice. We sat on the front porch and it was great.

AVVA took me on a trip to Italy last night with a fabulous Italian wine and cheese tasting event! Wow! What a fun night! We learned all about the 6 featured wines from across Italy from Fred Magnotta, from F. Magnotta LLC. I haven't had this much outstanding wine since I took a trip to the Napa Valley! Of course I had to get the scrumptious lamb chops, my absolute favorite at AVVA. All of the food is delicious so it is worth a trip to try them with a glass of Fred's wine!

Mediterranean Cuisine in Aspinwall serving fresh, flavorful dishes including mezze platters, grilled meats and seafood, and classic Turkish desserts. The outdoor seating is especially lovely, and the space has a warm, inviting feel. Vegan options are quite limited outside of salads and mezze (no falafel nor grilled veggies) but the quality and ambiance make it a nice neighborhood spot to enjoy. Really lovely service, too.

This was a great spot! We liked the different options for seating: covered outdoor, uncovered outdoor, indoor, etc. The service was pretty timely and straight forward. Food was fresh and flavorful. The decor was very warm and inviting. I'd definitely come back and have already recommended it to others!

Turkish Tea - 4.5 stars - This black tea was a good size and was served hot. Packets of sweeteners were available. The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.

The space is tiny and unassuming, and the restaurant seems to be a family run operation. The interior is much more nicely kept than you might guess based on the outside of the building. The staff were very friendly, and all of our food was well packaged. I strongly suggest taking a look at the "Persian Cuisine" section of the menu; in many cases, that section is more interesting than the Turkish grill. In terms of food, things ranged from excellent to pretty good. The hummus was good and nicely textured, but not exceptional. The kashke ve bademjan was excellent, particularly when paired with the nicely toasted flatbread it arrived with. The Mediterranean salad and Tabouli salad were both nicely done, with a nice level of lemon acidity and some shredded cheese on the side. The veggie kebap was fine, but generally flat in flavor: it really needed some of the sides and some hot sauce to fill things out. The red lentil soup was simple with a subtle spicing but ultimately deeply flavorful. The ash reshteh (noodle soup with beans and spinach) was generally good but would have benefited from toppings that would have probably been provided in a dine-in environment. All told, this was a nice little establishment with some excellent Mediterranean and Persian style cuisine. They seem to churn out some high quality food from what seems like a very small kitchen. I could imagine eating in or ordering takeout, but note that the interior space is fairly small with a limited capacity.

It was my return to the dating scene after a few years in hiatus, would I be ready? Could things actually go right? Why did we pick this night to go out for the first time? Well, the original plan was Tacayo and it was closed, but we strolled past it into this establishment with me not even knowing that we were in a totally different restaurant. I looked at the menu, this doesn't look like taco's at all, what is happening here? We called Tacayo to make sure in case they were open and we could still eat there. Nope, they were certainly closed. You know what? I took it in stride and said, "what the heck, I like mediterranean food." We were waited on and placed our orders, things seemed to be moving along nicely. The only problem being we had both ordered the falafel platter and my date calmly tells me that in the past she thinks she had an allergic reaction after she ate chick peas. I was like, well we better just inform our waiter and get something else. She says, no, that's o.k. I don't want to waste food. Ummm....you want to risk your own health so as not to waste food? As it turns out she at the falafel and was completely fine. So, truth be told I have had way better Middle Eastern food. Our fave foodie neighbor recommended this over highly-rated Med Table (still haven't tried that place yet, so our verdict is out!). Overall, our meal was really good (not great). Hummus was the fave; I've definitely had more flavorful baba. We opted to toast all the mounds of huge pita that came with the meal, though. We're not fans of cold, "raw" pita with dips. Entrees: I got the Genie's combo plate - a couple of interestingly spiced , though somewhat dry chicken thighs (spice called "mishwi" - seemed almost like a Berbere-type seasoning w/ cinnamon in the profile) on a bed of basmati & a helping of tasty, crunchy pickled turnips & Lebanese salata (like Mediterranean pico de gallo). The standout item on this place - far and away - was the roasted, spiced cauliflower. I would have that ALONE - no chicken. I liked the dish, overall, but it didn't knock my socks off. I would look for solo-cauliflower next time. Hubs got the Shish Tawook rolled pita - he really enjoyed the grilled chicken with pickled turnip and excellent homemade garlic sauce. He said he'd def reorder. Top tip - get that garlic sauce (if u like garlic). It's AMAZING. No dessert for us, though what an impressive list they have! Refreshing and a nice mint flavor; I think they might make the blend in house. They also brought out some nice pita before we started the meal. For my main course, I ordered the shish tawouk. You usually get this meal with the rice pilaf, but they were out, so I got to try the mujadara. I'm actually quite glad! The chicken was tender, and the portion was very fair.
