Oooolala Tatva! What an absolute gem on Perry Highway in Wexford I did not think there was any good Indian food in Pittsburgh, but I was completely wrong. Tatva packs a ton of flavor into each dish, with a wide selection of tandoori and curry specialties. Personally, I enjoy sticking with the Dal Makhani and Paneer Tikka, which are classic rich and flavorful vegetarian curries. The Naan are HUGE and absolutely worth getting a few extra for leftovers. Do yourself a flavor and give Tatva a try.

My husband and I went here recently for dinner. The ambiance is nice - it's a pretty big open place. We got samosa chaat, some sort of spicy fried chicken appetizer (chicken 555?), butter chicken and malai kafta. The food was pretty good. We definitely could have used more rice with the entrees. The butter chicken was the best dish we had. My malai kafta was pretty odd.. the gravy was very tomato-y which I wasn't expecting for malai kofta. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. The naan was delicious-- a huge order and cooked perfectly. The service wasn't great.. we had to track down our server who was cleaning tables to get our check. Overall it was still pretty good and we would go back but probably for takeout next time.

We ordered dinner delivered, and it was delicious. My son said the simosas were amazing and the Chicken 65 was delicious, but I would have loved some raita with it. The naan bread was generously portioned. My chicken Kaidi was just the right level of spice - I'm kind of a wimp - and my husband's Chicken Tikka Masala was really good too. Definitely excited to go in person!

The food is amazing but the service is even better. They went above and beyond to ensure our family was well accommodated.

The food is really good but food took a long time and customers seemed very not concerned that everyone had no food yet

I think this place is a good Indian take out option. Restaurant is an add on to the grocery store,…read moreso the vibe is fast casual. Their food varies: some dishes like the Chicken Qorma are great. The standard biryani is acceptable. The Tandoori Chicken is great! Most curry dishes are given with a bowl of rice. Other dishes are a bit hard to understand: Mutton Sukka which should be dry was in a bowl of rather wet curry. A vegetable biryani had so much gravy in it, it seemed it was just rice in curry. Heat/spicy levels seem a bit high. Recommend starting on the lower side and going higher later. I love that if you get get takeout, it's packaged really well. Sealable plastic containers are covered in wrap. However, I got a vada sambhar and they didn't package the vada separately. I think they should deviate from how they serve it to eat in vs take out. Finally, it's all pretty expensive with not a lot of deviation... the standard price seems to be $18 for a dish. -2 for vegetarian, +1 +2 for premium meats. Any bread is $4 or$5. It's a reliable and efficient option. Orders are ready on time and don't get lost. Works well if you find dishes you like.

Worst service and extremely disappointing food. They served expired food. They asked for the spice…read morelevel but gave completely bland food. When we questioned it, they blamed us, saying we ordered something that couldn't be made spicy. The cashews used for garnish were spoiled, giving the dishes a bad smell, and instead of accepting the issue, they insisted it was our fault for ordering it. Ordered Nawabi Chicken Biryani (-100000/100) and Haleem (spoiled and not even worth rating). Again, DO NOT ORDER from this place. The staff is uninformative and only focused on selling their dishes, without caring about customers. The place is unhygienic and poorly maintained, and the food is overpriced with absolutely no taste. Extremely disappointing experience.

This restaurant changed hands a few years ago & as regular patrons, we have watched the quality of…read morefood go steadily downhill. Those who may not have a reference point as far as Indian cuisine is concerned may not notice this. To give specific examples from our last foray at the restaurant: 1) Punjabi Kadi is a standard, staple dish in the Punjab region of South Asia. In its current iteration, served in the buffet at Taj Mahal, the "pakoris" (fritters) in the kadi were half-cooked. 2) Goat curry--another North Indian staple was had several cubes of goat similarly half cooked. Or maybe the selection of meat was not good. Either way we ended up trying several pieces & then ultimately leaving them uneaten. 3) Lachcha Paratha was similarly half cooked. There were several parts of the paratha which had raw dough. Indian cuisine is not just about "masala" (mixture of different spices). It is about first selection of right ingredients. It is about adding the right spices. And above all it is about ensuring the marriage of those spices to the ingredients and ensuring every part of the food is adequately cooked. It was quite telling that none of the patrons that for that morning lunch hour were South Asian. Perhaps they have learnt to keep away from the restaurant. The service though, was polite, attentive and respectful. The ambiance that of a casual eatery. It will take a lot of time before it attracts its old clientele back, if ever.

The space is primarily bench like seating so keep that in mind. Service was a tad slow as we waited a bit to place our order and for the food to come out. The menu was varied, which I appreciated. I had granny's chicken, which had good flavor. The spicy naan was mild in my opinion, though others in my party thought it was too much to pair with a 7 spice level. Parking out front is easy. Okay option.

I ordered a combo with tikka chicken and butter chicken which was okay but not great. The sauce on the butter chicken was not very rich like butter chicken usually is. My partner ordered Dum Sub biryani which was very not right- she ended up throwing most of it away. It was supposed to have paneer but only had like one piece and definitely had what seemed to be a bag of microwave veggies in it (including corn) and was not spiced correctly - very plain. It felt like it was made in a microwave from leftovers. Her order came with Raita and it smelled very off and funky. The samosas and soup that we ordered were both okay. Overall very weird, we won't be back. Back to Peoples for our Indian take out!
