Tatva has become our go-to Indian takeout spot! We've only ever done takeout, but the food is consistently delicious. The tikka masala and butter chicken are both excellent -- rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want for a great Indian takeout. The garlic naan is perfectly done, and the lamb chops are another favorite- perfectly spiced. Everything is high quality across the board. I really appreciate that we can customize the spice level, and that portions are generous enough to stretch across a couple of meals. Ordering online is simple and straightforward, and pickup is relatively simple. We've yet to dine in, but hopefully will soon. Highly recommend! read more

Update from getting takeout tonight. Same rating. The butter chicken was amazing. The chicken panang curry was very flavorful but I found the 5/10 to be too spicy (our butter chicken was a 5/10 too and was fine). The texture of the chicken wasn't great and I wish it had more veggies. Definitely prefer the butter chicken. My husband got the chicken 65 biryani and he really liked it. It was a huge serving. I stopped in for lunch with my wife on a weekday, and overall we enjoyed our meal. However, there is some room for improvement. Let me start by saying that the food was of the highest quality, and everything was delicious. The place was also very clean. That said, the place was completely empty. When we walked in there was nobody around, and because of the various TVs playing music and sports nobody heard us come in. We stood for several minutes and were about to leave when a guy popped out of the kitchen and looked surprised that we were there. He got us seated and watered quickly after this. Service throughout was pretty bad, with dude number 1 and our server more concerned with their phones and the cricket match. There was a bit of a language barrier too, but we worked through that. Anyway, we started with samosas, and they were pretty good. I then ordered the Chicken Vindaloo and my wife had some kind of shrimp curry thing. We also ordered naan, which didn't arrive until the middle of the meal. Again, everything was very tasty, but the service was a bit frustrating. I also want to point out that this is not a buffet, and that the menu is expert level. By that I mean that there are no descriptions or images of the dishes. It's just a list - chicken tiki, chicken vindaloo, etc. - and if you don't know a lot about Indian food you're going to be using Google a lot. Anyway, I will probably give these guys another try because the food was legit. Hopefully they will work out their service issues and maybe enhance their menu to better suit the market that they are in. read more

We ordered delivery Saturday August 1. This was our first time trying this restaurant. We did not have the opportunity to choose our spice level so right away it was a challenge to sample most of the items due to the very high heat level. We ordered spring rolls, samosas, 3 entrees (red curry, green curry and tom yum soup) they look NOTHING like the photos. We never received our red curry dish in the order so that was money lost. The spring rolls were good, the bread was good. I have emailed, called and left a voicemail, called again and spoke to someone about the item missing. He took my name and order number, said he'd call me back. I have yet to hear back and it's been over a week. I'll take it as a 17$ lessen to never return. The delivery driver texted twice to say the order was delayed and we had over an hour wait to receive mediocre food at best. 75% of it was thrown away. Perhaps dining in is a better experience but this was a disaster. read more

I think that Tatva restaurant opened in December 2024. Its menu lists mostly Indian foods but also Chinese and other foods. A bar offers non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. Please see my attached photos for the menu in February 2025. My husband and I ate one dinner here. The employees provided very good service overall, but one employee did bring us incorrect foods. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Seethaphal Milkshake - 4.5 stars - This drink contained chunks of a tropical apple fruit and tasted slightly sweet. Samosa Chaat - 4 istars - Chunks of samosa and chickpeas tasted moderately spicy. Tandoori Pompret - 5 stars - This fish was a large size, and it was cooked perfectly. Its white meat was moist and tender. Palak Paneer - 3 stars - My husband ate this entree, which is one of his go-to's at other Indian restaurants. He said that he was not a fan of the flavors. Garlic naan - 5 stars - This naan was baked nicely and tasted very good. Gulab Jamoon - 5 stars - Fried dough balls were soaked in sugary syrup. Good, but with some inconsistencies between what appears on the menu relative to what actually showed up in our order. We ordered takeout through the web site, and the overall ordering experience was fine. Our order was ready within a few minutes of when it was expected to be. The interior space was nice and relatively spacious. It seemed like it would be an excellent dine-in destination, if that's what you were aiming for. In terms of the food, we ordered a fairly wide range of items and found everything to be generally good. The samosa chaat was a clear winner with plenty of flavor and texture. The "pick any protein" appetizer was somewhat confounding: the online menu presents it as some sort of rice and/or salad bowl. In practice, the cauliflower variant was indistinguishable from gobi Manchurian. It was delicious; it just wasn't what we expected. The paneer momo was excellent, but it also seemed out of alignment with what is presented in the online menu. It seemed much more like a chile coated fried momo, with limited paneer. Beyond that, everything was good. The malai broccoli was a nice blend of roasted broccoli with yogurt and spices. The gutti vankaya was served with a deeply rich and flavorful sauce. The red curry was a bit on the overwhelmingly creamy side, but still very good. All told, the food was good but somewhat short of great. read more

service - as soon as me and my family came in, we waited 5 minutes for a server to come and sit us, but nobody came. So we got tired of waiting and decided to seat ourselves. Then as soon as we seat ourselves the server comes to tell us we can't sit there. The tv there was also playing nonsense ads more than half the time. like there's literal 2-5 minute ads playing which nobody is bothering to skip, even when the ads are skipable. food - it takes way too long to get the food out even when the restaurant isnt bus. Took them more than 30 minutes for only 2 dishes. The food was very average and nothing special. The paneer they have was unevenly cooked, soft on one end, and stiff as a rock on the other end. I literally had to chew like I was biting a rock to get it down for some pieces. The servers aren't trained and dont come to check in on you, and they also ignore you so if you need something else after you ordered, good luck finding them. ambiance - it was just horrible with the tv that plays ads and servers that just don't engage. read more

Oooolala Tatva! What an absolute gem on Perry Highway in Wexford I did not think there was any good Indian food in Pittsburgh, but I was completely wrong. Tatva packs a ton of flavor into each dish, with a wide selection of tandoori and curry specialties. Personally, I enjoy sticking with the Dal Makhani and Paneer Tikka, which are classic rich and flavorful vegetarian curries. The Naan are HUGE and absolutely worth getting a few extra for leftovers. Do yourself a flavor and give Tatva a try. read more

Food: The food was great. We had palak paneer, chicken biryani, and naan. I would definitely get the biryani again. The spice level is perhaps a bit more than other local restaurants; we were happy that we requested 3/10 spice. I thought it curious that they did not have tea (even though it is on the menu). Service: Our service was slow and felt disinterested even though the restaurant was about 50% full. We spent several minutes trying to flag a server to get our check (I hate to do that but we had already waited awhile for someone to show up). Above all, the food. We had two curries: a chicken methi malai and a lamb rogan josh, and both were really tasty. For starters we shared a dosa with three traditional sauces, and it was fantastic. Service was just right: friendly but not overbearing. Knowledgeable about the menu (which is not a given with some servers). Ambiance: clean, open spaces, fairly large. We were there early in lunch hour mid-week, so not crowded. Could have done without the big screen showing Bollywood style dance numbers. (Just sit facing the other direction.) If you read my first review, you know my first visit was bumpy. They were clearly still working out kinks of service. But I remembered the food being quite good, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well we went back and I'm sorry to say service did not get better. If anything it's worse. Service and coordination is still a mess. They have a liquor license but my reaction is - why bother. Terrible selection. And no actual decent bartender. And no byob. And the actual dining service was terrible. Super slow. Had to ask multiple times for basics like water, napkins, serving spoons, etc etc. had to ask repeatedly for them to clear table of dirty plates - and they still didn't do it. The food was still good, but not nearly as good we we recalled the first time. And the portions seem to have shrunk. All in all, it's just not worth the headache of terrible service with other great Indian options out there (which also offer BYOB!). read more

Saw a friend's post so tried Tatva since we were nearby - what a great place. Food is as good as any Indian I have had in the US. The lamb kurma and the butter chicken were both excellent. The naan is second to none. Good value and very good service from the friendly staff. Definitely recommend! read more

I had a great experience at Tatva. My first impression upon entering was that the dining room was very clean and the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu is pretty big and they offer Indian food as well as innovative fusion options and a few highlights from other cuisines. We got the butter chicken, vegetable jalfrezi, and paneer momo. We loved everything. I thought the food - especially the vegetables tasted very fresh. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

We all hated everything about our meal and experience. The restaurant was freezing cold and the food was not great honestly. Our favorite thing was the naan. Staff were fine but not really engaged. Typically around Pittsburgh anytime I've ordered Indian it has been very average, I have to drive to Toronto or Chicago to get quality flavors. This place is legit!!! We ordered dinner delivered, and it was delicious. My son said the simosas were amazing and the Chicken 65 was delicious, but I would have loved some raita with it. The naan bread was generously portioned. My chicken Kaidi was just the right level of spice - I'm kind of a wimp - and my husband's Chicken Tikka Masala was really good too.
