My son's 2nd grade class had around 32 kids at the start of the year. a few teachers in the higher grades have been known to yell and scream at kids, sometimes daily (as witnessed by my child and their friends). Accommodations for neurodivergent individuals is either because of a 504, IEP, or you got a good teacher that is willing to learn and work with you and your child. However, Neuro-spicy kids are bullied relentlessly. Bullies are not confronted by staff unless parents push constantly for it. And I even had a lunch worker scare my 1st grader so badly he refused to eat anything I made him; she had told him it wasn't healthy enough (A ham sandwich, fruit snacks, juice, and grapes and/or carrot sticks. Sometimes leftovers from the night before). When we pushed for her to be confronted about these instances (so she'd stop scaring him into thinking everything he ate was bad) she came up with an excuse that he didn't have lunch, which wasn't true (I put his lunch in his bag myself), but the school back anyway and we were told to not worry about it. The kids aren't given enough time to eat lunch and the lines in the cafeteria (apparently) are pretty long. By the time my kids got their lunch and sat down they had 10 min. to finish and get back to class (which is why we went to packed lunches to begin with). On multiple occasions my kids were picked on by their peers and when brought to staff their concerns were disregarded and they were told to deal with it. On an overnight with the school one student stole from my daughter and when she asked the parent (who happened to be a teacher) for help to retrieve the items was reprimanded for accusing her daughter of stealing and had been told it was her fault the girl had taken her make-up and wouldn't give it back. The teacher also told her that when they got back she would have words with me. She must have changed her mind because she didn't confront me. (I'm only 5'3" and a fairly nice person). When there have been instances we've had to email the principal directly in order to see any resolution. The bus app doesn't work and this year the transportation staff didn't even show up to meet the teacher night to help anyone figure out what bus they would be on; this resulted in us looking on the district website which was apparently the wrong information (even though it'd been updated for this school year) because my kids were kicked off the bus at school, since it was the wrong bus, however this was after their actual bus had taken off. The kid's programs are usually very crowded and people are always so loud it's impossible to hear anything. A lot of times things are scheduled while parents are working. All that being said, there are SOME excellent teachers that are very helpful and honestly concerned with the kids. The principal works really hard to make it the best experience possible and responds to emails and calls as soon as she's able. The front office has a call button to let anyone in and they're really good about checking ID's. The office staff and nurse are always very helpful and friendly. The grounds are fairly well maintained and spacious with gated play areas separated by grade for the kids safety. There are a lot of afterschool clubs and programs, including robotics. The school is really good about keeping parents in the loop if something happens and just in general.

My 16 year old goes to Goodyear High and pics his brother and sister up daily, on short days he runs 30min behind because his school does not let out in time to be there at 12:20-12:35. I have been called and yelled at, chastised, belittled, and told "We are not babysiters," when my kids were waiting for their brother to pick them up. Mind you, other kids as well as security are present well after school has ended, no problems there tho. But for the front office lady to yell at my 16 year old son that he needs to take his 6 yr old sister and 10 year old brother and het off campus now... or to make a 6 year old start walking home alone while she cries that she doesnt want to because shes waiting for her older brother and shes scared to walk home... In the middle of me apologizing while gettin chastised, I was cut off multiple times and told things like "Well, you need to figure something else out,"...."Thats not my problem,"...."We are not babysitters." This is how Copper trails treats parents and children that attend AND LEND A HAND AT EVENTS. LMAO. THIS SCHOOL IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CHILDREN. THEY CARE ABOUT A CHECK. DONT LET THE FEW REVIEWS FOOL YOU. IVE TALKED TO SEVERAL PARENTS THAT SHARE MY SAME VIEWS ABOUT THIS PLACE. Currently exploring options for my children to attend school elsewhere....... During our time here, my children witnessed teachers gossiping about other students in front of students, as well as staff discussing internal conflicts and other employees. Even more concerning, we experienced middle school staff openly bragging about parents withdrawing their children from the school and taking pride in the fact that they felt they had pushed those families to leave. That is incredibly inappropriate behavior from adults who are supposed to be creating a supportive environment for children. When serious concerns regarding bullying and harassment were brought to the principal and administration, I repeatedly felt that they were dismissed rather than properly addressed. There seemed to be little initiative to investigate or follow through, and I often had to continuously follow up just to make sure concerns involving my child were being addressed at all. Communication is another major issue, particularly with school sports. There were times I would not even know that my child's practice had been canceled unless my child personally texted me. Parents should not have to rely on their children to receive basic scheduling information from a school program. Overall, my experience with this school has been extremely disappointing. I found the lack of communication, accountability, professionalism, and appropriate response to parent concerns unacceptable. After three years of experiencing these issues, I would not recommend this school to other families.

I mainly put the blame on the admin team. For starters, they haven't got a clue of what they're supposed to be doing, and it shows in their faces. They are always worried about the wrong things. They are extremely inconsistent and sloppy; this showed specifically during our advisory classes when we were supposed to learn things about adulthood/college & career readiness. Most of the time, our teacher had not the slightest clue of what was supposed to be happening. Many other students who I've spoken to have stated the same. Not only that, they treat not just students, but other people as well (myself included) with the upmost disrespect. Security is even worse. I understand that school safety measures must be taken in order to sustain a safe learning environment. However, it is almost prison-like how they treat it. I personally could hardly ever go to the bathroom without being stopped by a security guard. Not to mention they treat the students with no respect whatsoever. Security has even stopped me from going back to class whether I was coming back from the bathroom or coming from the office. To add on, if students are forced to stay after hours, I've found that security kicks them outside; no matter the weather. It is quite obvious to see that that could very well be an endangerment to someone's life; especially if it's 100+ degrees outside. I would like to state however, that the teachers at this school are phenomenal. Out of all the teachers I had over the years, every single one of them inspired me to be a better learner. Their empowerment keeps me going through college even today. The admin team however, does not set these teachers up for success. Information sent throughout the school is from what I've experienced, vague and unclear. So, if you are new to the area and you're looking at schools for your student, do not send them here. Verrado High School should be the last option on your list of schools to send your child. I would even consider sending my child somewhere else. This school is a terrible place, and I don't see it changing anytime in the near future.
