I am so glad we started our daughter here. The teachers have been absolutely amazing from day one and have instilled a love of learning into my daughter. When Covid hit, the school was incredibly supportive. They took all measures necessary to ensure the kids had the tools needed to learn at home and they did everything possible to ensure a safe return. Basis does have a very rigorous curriculum and parent involvement is expected. The school also has a very active booster club that plans a lot of really fun events for families. The worse experience ever I have my both kids at that school and I never see such disrespect . The teachers are very irresponsible and mean , they expect kids to know everything because there excuse is we have to many kids in the classroom and we can't focus in each one . They call me two times around 12 PM to let me know my kid is missing and he was there but because she missed him . Just imagine my shock. Very mean and irresponsible people. I will preface this with 0 stars!! My child has attended this campus for three years and while there have been minimal issues the last two years. This year has by far been horrendous! The staff and administration present as if they thrive off parent involvement and accountability when in actuality they want the students to simply know the answers and test high, with no interaction from parents and when parents step in to seek guidance, support or clarification and attempt to hold staff and administration accountable they find any reason they can to paint the parent as the issue. Not only have I filed a police report against a teacher this year, I am now on my THIRD formal complaint with the board, have pulled my child and will be moving forward with legal steps. If you are an active, involved, and communicative parent this school will not be supportive. They focus on high score students and if your child begins to struggle in any capacity.. well it's up to your child to figure it out because 9 year olds are expected to be independent with their academic career. All while the administration allows for staff to intimidate, harass, bully, and use bias towards youth. read more

The best primary school in Goodyear for sure! Both of my kids started in kindergarten here and are excelling! I have heard a few parents complain about amount of homework but my kids have no issue with it. All the staff have been very helpful and kind. They notify me about everything with the kids no matter how big or small. Thank you basis for being awesome can't wait for the many years to come! read more

I wish we had never started down this path. I thought advanced math would be great for my math inclined kiddos. The reality is that they can't keep a math teacher. I'm okay with homework but in 6th grade it jumps to a good 1.5+ hours per night. This is tough on music practice, sports and the whole family. The closed campus would be fine. However, a lack of communication and at times lies from the Administration makes it difficult to trust that they are truly looking out for what is in the best interest of my children. Ultimately BASISed is part of an international company that wants to make money. I believe the teachers care, and there are some great ones here, but they can't afford to stick around. read more

this is a good school, good curriculum. they cannot keep a teacher though. some teachers don't teach and just sit on their phones. the only good thing is that our kids have their friends to keep them going. my kid has gone to this school since fourth grade, and is staying all through high school. another bad thing is the extracurricular activities, they don't have many. the BASISed administration is also bad, they make fundraisers that aren't even fun. read more

The Basis system does not have a PTA style partnership. They only have a booster club, which means you can raise money for the school but you have no say on what is being taught. There is no access to the classrooms, parents are stopped at the door. No transparency. read more

DO NOT. I repeat, do not send your child to this school!!! My kids are very smart and have gone to higher curriculum oriented schools all of their life. Firstly, this school makes a great effort to keep parents out; Away from the halls, the administration, and your child's life. Secondly, they have extremely high demands of these kids but do not hold themselves to the same standard. Thirdly, if your child does not pass a comprehension test for each class at the end of the year for whatever reason, they will be held back. And many kids are often held back. Mind you, they are already 3 to 4 years ahead of traditional schools. Fourth, the retention rate at the school for teachers and students is extremely low. They don't even care whether you leave or stay because it happens so often. Every other week or so, a teacher was being let go. Fifth, your child will be doing school work all night and week to keep up. They will have no free time to be a kid. They will not have time for extra activities like sports, clubs.... Lastly, the bullying in this school is high. The kids and teachers are so overworked that any free time that the children get, they go nuts. The staff will not punish accordingly or bring you in unless things get very ugly. Immediately after we left this school my kids were thankful and felt utter relief. read more

Harold Horn!!! went above a beyond being disrespectful. That man had the audacity to yell at me, argue with me, humiliate me, belittle me like if I as person didn't matter. All because I approached the pick up like at 3:29 AFTER already announcing my child! after ALWAYS being the 1st/2nd car there for 3:30 pick up. Ask me if they even offered an apology.... Ask me if they returned my calls....ask me if the head of operations cared? NEGATIVE!!! Basis Goodyear is so badly managed, staff members are horrible with parents imagine with our children! Pick up is a mess and they do nothing to fix it. Each year it gets worst and worst and when parents find a way to make it work they add some stupid rule not allowing it anymore. I have had plenty of bad experience at BASIS GOODYEAR but I always brush them off...Even the fact of how they have lost my son 5 times just this school year already for more then 30 min each time and how they always blame my son.....or how staff members threaten us parents at pick up.....or how our kids are being bullied at school and after multiple emails,calls,etc they still do nothing about it saying it isn't happening when multiple students say it is....the list can go on and on but yet then I post about my issues and problems on the school fb pages and somehow my post always get deleted.... If they don't respect us as parents how are they going to respect our kids? I withdrew my son as of Friday. I can no longer deal with insanity going on in that school! I know TONS of parents withdrawing there kids at the end of the year...for the same reasons STAFF MEMBERS!!! Basis Goodyear is getting worst and worst every year with staff members, head of schools leaving every year and new ones starting every month. You can't even keep up anymore with who's who. Not only that but the ridiculous rules the school keeps in place is awful. I do NOT recommend you enrolling your child at BASIS GOODYEAR!!!! I went to this school for almost three years and they were the worst i can remember. As I went through fourth grade through sixth the only gleaming hope i had going there were my friends. Every year you got put into a new class with people the school chose to put you with, people who you most likely disliked so you wouldn't be loud. That's understandable of course, but to a point where you had to spend eight hours a day to sit next to someone you hate with all your being is torture. The teachers are most of the time incompetent and irrational towards students and their subjects. The homework depends on the teacher and most of the time they were brutal on how much they gave. The administration towards the students was absolutely horrible as well. I was in "student support" for most of my time there simply because i was lazy. That was my own fault but it wasn't even support, it was complete degradation having to call your parents about every single test score you got, I dreaded it each time and then you had to give your parents a report card every week and depending on the parents it was absolutely horrible for them. The teachers were pretty nice but they had their meltdowns and they weren't pretty. Teachers scream and curse out student and sometimes completely target one student for every single error the class makes. They also blame the parents for not being up to date with their children's lives, it's difficult when you spend most of your night doing math homework getting so frustrated to the point of crying there isn't time to tell your parent/parents/guardians about your day. They can't even keep a principal for more than two years, it's ridiculous how they have to use an english teacher for math in the beginning of the year so they can find a teacher to fill the spot. Please rethink before sending your child/children here, it's a hellhole there. read more

Outstanding education for highly intelligent children who need to be challenged. The teachers are dedicated and they expect excellence. Ms Cortez is a superior math teacher. Students usually test 2 grade levels ahead of where they are. It is the basis for a top drawer K-12 education. The students will qualify for the top universities when the graduate. read more

We switched to BASIS Goodyear from Verrado Heritage this year. My son is very active, and a pretty smart kiddo. He started 1st grade and we love that BASIS is more challenging, and he responds very well to the different teachers and classrooms throughout the day. It helps to keep him more engaged and he is doing awesome and loving school! We're very happy we made the switch. His teacher has been an awesome communicator, and the staff is always very helpful. We heard horror stories about homework, but it appears to be similar timewise to what we did in Kindergarten. Nothing but great things to say, except for the pick-up line in the afternoon (luckily my kiddo is in late bird)! read more

So I realized on the way to drop my daughter off at school this morning that we had forgotten her binder, which has her study material in it for her classes for the day. I told her I would go home to get it and bring it back to school for her. Once back at school I check into the front desk and this is where the trouble started. I told the lady that we had forgotten my daughters school work at home and I was bringing it back for her and kindly asked her if she could get it to my daughter. She promptly told me she could not. I then told her it had her study material in it that she was going to need for her classes for the day. She then started giving me attitude and telling me there had been an email sent out at the beginning of the school year about this very thing and it was my daughter's responsibility to bring her stuff to school. (I guess she's perfect and never forgets anything.) She offered no help other than saying we could bring her binder to school when we pick her up (picking up is a whole different fiasco). Which by that time would be too late and would do no good whatsoever. It seemed like a total F you and get out of here attitude. I then asked her if I could leave it there and my daughter could get it at lunch. Again, no. So here is the only way I could get the binder to my daughter, I asked to talk to the person in charge, which she then told me (again with attitude) that it was the head of school. I then tell her that I am going to check my daughter out, give her the binder, and check her back in. So she tries to call the teacher but no answer. Then tells me there was no answer and acts like she wants me to leave. So I tell her I'm not leaving without my daughter. She then calls the head of school and tells him I'm trying to drop something off for my daughter and that I said I'm not leaving until I get my daughter. He then shows up at the front door and also tells me there is nothing he can do to help. I tell him I don't understand the policy and it seems way more disruptive to everyone involved to go through what we are going through just to get a binder to my daughter. At this point we now have at least five people involved, taking my daughter out of her class, and having to check her back in. It would have been way easier to just have someone put the binder in a place where my daughter could have picked it up. Mr. Horn then said the lady in the front office is by herself and can't leave the front desk. This is just another lame excuse because she just called the head of school to come and try to get me to leave instead of calling someone to come and deliver the binder to my daughter. I can't believe they would have such a ridiculous policy in place when all they stress is academics. Totally counterproductive. I will be looking for a different place to send my child for her education. read more
