Teachers this year have extremely high expectations for 10 year old kids. The last two months the school has pointed out behavior issues with my son. My son gets bullied like crazy and nothing is done about it. The school is so quick to pointing out everything he does so he gets in trouble rather than recognizing he needs guidance to improve. I'm so disappointed how the school has been treating and dealing with my son. He doesn't want to go to school because he feels like the staff is targeting him. If your kid fits the "normal" stereotype of a kid, they will do fine at the school. If your kid struggles in anything, behavior or academically, don't waste your time sending your kid here. We won't be returning for 5th grade.

The staff and administration present as if they thrive off parent involvement and accountability when in actuality they want the students to simply know the answers and test high, with no interaction from parents and when parents step in to seek guidance, support or clarification and attempt to hold staff and administration accountable they find any reason they can to paint the parent as the issue. Not only have I filed a police report against a teacher this year, I am now on my THIRD formal complaint with the board, have pulled my child and will be moving forward with legal steps. If you are an active, involved, and communicative parent this school will not be supportive. They focus on high score students and if your child begins to struggle in any capacity.. well it's up to your child to figure it out because 9 year olds are expected to be independent with their academic career. All while the administration allows for staff to intimidate, harass, bully, and use bias towards youth.

The school offers a genuine Montessori prepared environment with teachers that are dedicated and return year after year. The children not only learn academic skills that place them far above the performance of children at other schools, but they gain so much more from this family style/homelike setting complete with access to nature and animals. Our daughter has strengthened her sense of self-confidence, which has allowed her to develop her own personal strengths and talents. PVM also offers before/aftercare and a variety of programs (music lessons, Spanish, creative writing, art, cooking classes in full kitchen and monthly field trips). We have been apart of this school going on 5 years now and will be here for many more years to come. They are on top of informing parents about the status of the events, dates and information we need. Thought this was a 1st day of school thing but it's still going on! And from an educational standpoint I am so impressed. My girls are challenged and aided through every level of their education. They are both in the Honors class called Traditional Academy (not sure why this name when it's for all advanced students in each grade) and they are learning Spanish, moving though subjects and levels faster and I'm always kept informed about what is going to be taught. The principal at this school is incredible and is made for this job. He is kind, fun, caring and involved. He is high giving kids, giving smiles on the corner waving parents into school in the morning and sitting with the kids at lunch. You won't find a better school! Verrado Elementary is IT! Knight Academy notified TOPA parents of a spring break camp on 3/2 with spring break starting on 3/6. That should have been the first red flag. But we signed our daughter up thinking it would be fun for her to hang out with her classmates at Knight Academy on her campus during the week-long spring break camp. The spring break camp confirmation email was riddled with spelling errors and conflicting information about where the camp would be held. Pretty sketchy coming from an "educational academy". Second red flag. Then on Sunday morning - the day before the first day of spring break camp -we get an email that camp had been cancelled due to lack of registrations. What did they think would happen when they notify parents four days before camp begins that there's even going to be a camp?? Third red flag. Their camp cancellation notice also stated that refunds had been processed and would be received in 5-7 business days. We're on business day 19 and still haven't received a refund. Four red flags now... The icing on the cake and the fifth and final red flag was the additional notification we received through their payment system - Active Advantage - that we had been signed up for a MONTHLY Active.com membership for $89.95 that we did not agree to (google active advantage membership scam if you want details). Thus ensued a way too complicated series of emails to Active Advantage's customer service department demanding that the membership we "agreed to" be canceled. Turns out the "join" button is pre-selected "yes" when you check out. If you don't catch it and de-select you're in for a fun ride and out $90/month. Pretty gross business practice IMHO. Avoid this place unless you have no alternatives. As stated at the top - we've heard wonderful things about the teachers but management at Knight Academy needs to get it together if they want to be taken seriously as an "educational academy".
