My favorite store in the WHOLE world. Honestly. I'm like a kid in a candy store. This store started a long and involved love affair with design blogs, window displays and household design. They have the best displays, brightly painted and whimsical. Ladders, umbrellas, green and purple paint. Just breathtaking. The store has something for everyone. A cafe on the bottom floor, gifts, cookbooks, clothes, jewelry, umbrellas, kid's toys and decor items. LIke the beautiful purple bud vase you never knew you needed for 11 euro. But in a lot of cases, it isn't 11 euro, but something outrageous. I do a lot of simply browsing at Avoca. read more

Get the Avoca treatment. Apparently that's what the Irish say. What a great lunch. Strange to walk through all the tchotchkes but that's a small price to pay to get to this great food. We had the seared tuna salad and the Mediterranean lamb mezze. If I must criticize one thing, I guess the hummus in the mezze was not the best ever, but everything else was pretty near it. While there's very little in Avoca you need, there's a million things you want. It's a cute shop that almost always has something you desire and a great selection of unique gifts. The clothes are nice as well though a little pricey. And several items in the shop are Irish-made. The real find though is the cafe. Avoca has delicious fresh meals and treats. Make sure you pick up a cookbook as well to try out some of the recipes at home. read more

Avoca. The business that is still managing to profit during the bust. It's rare not to queue for a table in the City Centre from 12:20 on & has that conveyor belt feeling. Not much room for kids in comparison to M&S up the street; that said, the food is wholesome, worthy, good and waiting staff are lovely. If you're a tourist..go to Kilmacanogue or Powerscourt. Had lunch here at the second floor cafe, had a duck confit salad and my friend had the half chicken and Caesar. The portions are quite large and although I have a big appetite the duck confit salad still filled me up quite well. The service was great too, and the food was spectacular. It's a pricier lunch than one most would have every day as a student or someone working an average job, but you could definitely not go wrong coming here for lunch with a date or for a nice day off or day out. The decor is charming as well. Nothing really else to add, may as well go check it out, since there aren't that many restaurants in the Grafton street area that do such good food for the same price. read more

My first time at the Dublin branch. As usual the food was excellent & coffee was great - the thing that let it down a lot was the service... I arrived with two friends & we had to wait 15 minutes for a table, it wasn't even busy & there were tables free the whole time we were there. Then no one came to bring us menus. When we did get them we had to ask 3 people before our orders were taken. Then our drinks (one pitcher of lemonade & one coffee) didn't arrive until AFTER the food. Even trying to get the bill and pay to leave took forever and we had to ask multiple staff members. All of the waiters and waitresses we found tended to try and avoid eye contact so that we weren't able to get their attention. It was very odd and I probably won't be returning because of the service! read more

They have great coffee. Definitely beats all other coffee I had in Dublin, but maybe that's because I couldn't find many that served drip/filter. Nevertheless, I'm still dreaming about it. The french toast was perfect, but you just can't get crispy bacon in Ireland! The pastries looked out of this world but we didn't try any. All in all, it was a great last meal before heading to the airport, even if my friend said it was like an upscale Cracker Barrel. read more

Avoca do probably the best scones in Dublin. The cheese-scones are absolutely to-die-for and the food store in the basement sells some unusual- supposedly designer- foods, such as chocolates, muesli and cakes. Avoca also have lovely gifts, children's toys, clothes and books. It's a proper little treasure trove for household items with a bit of an unusual slant- a heart-shaped pan for fried eggs anyone? I love having a look around in here when I need to get christmas presents for my family. Unfortunately they are a bit pricey but sometimes you get some really nice things for little money in here. read more

Fantastic food, friendly staff & great vibes. I got the scrambled eggs which were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavour. Avoca is a great store. I'm traveling from America and my friend from home raved about this place. As a guy, I enjoyed the store regardless of its huge focus on women's clothing and products. Their was a guy's section and gender neutral area of funny books, unique products, and convenient gadgets. I would compare this store to Urban Outfitters back in the US. read more

This review is for all the visitors to Dublin who are looking for authentic loaves of bread to bring home as a souvenir. I wouldn't have known about the food hall on the basement level of this store, if it were not for a French store owner at a nearby cheese shop who suggested I check it out. The French know their baked goods, so I got lucky. I had been on somewhat of a wild goose chase looking for a loaf of authentic soda bread and was coming up empty handed. The Avoca food hall had this plus much more. After looking all over town in markets and bakeries in the typical tourist areas of downtown Dublin, I can say they have the best selection of baked goods. They had not one, but several varieties of soda bread, plus many other types of bread, rolls, scones, and pastries. Plus, they had savory food: a cold salad bar, a hot counter with several different types of quiche, and a section in back that makes sandwiches with freshly shaved rotisserie chicken. Plus there was a cold area with yogurt, smoothies, and juices to go. They also sell pantry foods - cereal, Irish oats, muesli, chocolate, and many other baking ingredients. I think most of the people eating there were locals. I ordered a salmon, dill and potato quiche with a small side salad which was fantastic. I can still taste the butter and the fresh dill. It was rich and indulgent. The rest of the store is also pretty cool. They have a couple of floors of merchandise, including high quality leather bags, clothing, shoes, jewelry, kitchenware, and soft, high quality Irish wool scarves and blankets. In addition - books, novelty gifts, and another cafe on the top floor that had a coffee bar, large wooden tables and lots of natural light. Again, I would have never known about this, as you can't see the cafes from the street. This shop is one of the most interesting ones I visited in Dublin - a gem that is not to be missed! read more

The main Avoca store on Suffolk street is one of several businesses in the Avoca chain. The downstairs part of this store is a food hall where you can buy pre-prepared stuff to take home or sit at a small selection of wooden tables and eat in. The breads are delicious, and some of the jams and condiments look amazing! The cafe is UPSTAIRS, with full table service. No matter where you go, the food is fresh, tasty and simple. Upstairs, the mezze plate at about €17 is great - juicy lamb and dips and breads. Breakfast is also good. Try the fresh orange juice and enjoy one of the best coffees in town too. Don't get me started on the carrot cake (breakfast of champions). Food like this in this part of Dublin isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. You will sometimes struggle to get a table at (say) lunchtime on a Saturday. LADIES - my missus says that the tall Irish guy at the cafe is very cute and worth the trip in itself. And the eclectic gifty/homeware stuff spread out on the floors in between the two eateries (arranged in no particular order) means you can spend hours in this tardis-like environment. read more

The Avoca Cafe(s) are one (slash two) of my favourite places for lunch in the city centre. They aint cheap, especally the upstairs, but the quality of the salads, sandwiches, quiches, and main dishes are almost unrivalled. The downstairs cafe (the cheaper of the two) is more of a deli setup, although the number of tables has increased slightly over time. There's a large glass display cabinet containing quiches, terrines, marinated chicken breasts, salmon fillets and other scrumptious dishes which vary depending on the day. These can be served hot or cold, and accompanied by salad, rice, potatoes or bread. In the centre of the cafe stand two salad bars, where you can help yourself and pay by the weight. One contains simpler, less extravegant salads (though no less delicious - the feta, broccoli and hazelnut is by far my favourite, though the carrot and sesame seeds or 3 coulur tomato, basil and black olive salads are viable contenders) and the other salads like fettucine with sundried tomato, or nicoise. The display fridge is packed with salads, rolls and wraps, and pots of delights like fresh pesto, olives and tapenades to take home. There's fresh cheesecakes, fudge cake and sponges, cookies, wellington squares and their simple yet divine rice crispie and mars-bar squares, which can be bought singly to eat in with a cup of coffee (which unfortunately is served only in cardboard cups - I hate this kind of waste in a sit-in cafe), or bought in multiple to take away. The tables are packed in between shelves loaded with cookbooks, jars of preserves, dressings and marinades, speciality tea and coffee, boxes of biscuits and baskets of fresh bread. There isn't much elbow room and you will be stared out of it by waiting customers if you linger much longer than your last mouthful, but it is still a great place to grab a quick, tasty and healthy lunch. read more

So from the outside, Avoca appears to be some sort of women's clothing store. When I heard there was a great cafe there, I walked in and immediately walked back out because I was sure I was in the wrong place. Luckily I came back though and walked to the top floor where, hidden by floors of random woman things I don't care about, is one of the best cafes in Dublin. I wish I would have discovered Avoca earlier in my semester in Dublin because it quickly became one of my favorite places to go. I went a handful of times with some friends sampling coffee, cakes, and food. Everything I had there was great, and the service was quite good as well. Check it out. What a charming store! It's a multi-level boutique that has everything from a little grocer section downstairs to clothing, woolen goods, and also a cafe up on the top level. It's a little like Anthropologie on steroids. Avoca is known for their woolen goods. They have a tremendous selection of scarves, wraps, throws, and blankets. While you can order online, nothing compares to being able to see and touch all the fabulous products in person. I was only disappointed that you couldn't purchase wool to knit stuff for yourself! read more

I love Avoca so much and love that they start their breakfast early at 9am! The restaurant on the top floor is so lovely and the waiters are so friendly and professional! You really get the sense that they know what their talking about- for instance the lady at the table next to me ordered a scone without the clot cream, the waiter strongly recommended that she should as it added to its signature taste! So she went for it! I got the scrambled eggs which were nice but I really wished I had gone for one of their scones! Had major food envy at the lady next to me! My boyfriend is off pork for lent and went for the mushrooms on cheese bread - I had a taste , really filling and absolutely yum! If I was starving I'd get that! read more

Pro tip, make sure you are going to the right part of Avoca if you are there to eat! I did not realize there was a restaurant upstairs so went directly to the cafe downstairs, which I did not realize closes at 4:30, but I was able to get some last minute food at 5PM. Given that I was an idiot, the server behind the counter was a bit confused and slightly rude to me. That being said, the superfood turkey wrap that I got was really so quite delicious! Hopefully next time others have a better experience than I because you actually know what you're doing when you get there... read more

There are many positive points about the place. Let's start with them. It's always fun to just go in and browse around, when it's raining outside or you have 30 minutes to kill. They have some very nice clothes/blankets/gloves etc... the jewelry is gorgeous. The cakes upstairs can be orgasmic. The whole shop is full of fun things to open, twirl, lift, smell etc... I do love their kitchen supplies, they are colourful as well as useful and good quality. But the prices are ridiculous. Plain and simple. I'm looking for a nice blanket for my soon to be newborn and the prices for a knitted one are usually around 30/45 euros. Here? Try 89 euro! Shocking. The food market downstairs is quite good, a little pricey. All their soups have coriander in them... ALL. The food in the cafe upstairs is very well cooked but it tends to be over salty, what a shame. But I'd still have their over salted scambled eggs over any others in the city. read more

Stopped off in the downstairs cafe of Avoca at the weekend. Staff were friendly and prompt. I just went straight for the desserts. Tasted really lovely. I always enjoy the atmosphere in Avoca although the one in Malahide Castle is my favourite. The pate is always to die for. read more

Finally made it to Avoca for food and I was not disappointed! The portions were massive and our waitress was really helpful in telling us how much food was enough to order etc.. The surroundings are bright and homely and very comfortable. We got a jug of lemonade as well and it was DELISH. Admittedly, the food is mostly lovely, freshly prepared salads are delicious and the baked goods are generally lovely quality but I have been quite disappointed on occasion with couldn't care less customer service. There can often be a queue, which I'm not a fan of it and those waiting can be left hanging with little friendly interaction from the staff. Also this space is very small so it can be very awkward and it is badly managed. I also booked in advance and bought an expensive ultimate chocolate cake for a friend's birthday party. Avoca is the cutest shop located off Grafton Street across from Trinity College. There are multiple floors to climb and explore. Located on the top floor is an adorable cafe to enjoy lunch or dessert and coffee or tea. Very friendly service. The ingredients are fresh and the portions are generous. There is a nice food hall with delicious gourmet goodies and Irish treats, a deli, and a coffee shop located in the basement. You can take-away or eat in (prices vary.). The store is charming with beautiful home furnishings, jewelry, and clothing. Cute! Cute!! Cute!!! Climb to the top floor for substantial meals but simply nip to the basement for coffee and a browse round the food hall. Books, food, clothes, household items and all sorts of things that is just interesting or lovely in some way. An ideal 'pressie' shop. The clothes lines available at Avoca are top notch classic contempory designs, often particularly special with regard to outlandish, but beautiful designs and textiles. Avoca sells a life style thats dreamy and pretty. A brilliant solution for retail therapy in conjunction with a quick coffee or a tasty salad munch of one of Avoca's own recipes. read more

My favourite cosy place in Dublin. The shop provide you with unique choices while still pretty personalised. The clothing products are quite original in design and the material is fantastic. I have had the opportunity to witness their live production on day on a trip to Killarney, needless to say it was fabulous experience. The body care section has great options of skin care and cleansing products, loved the fruit based hand and body soap. The food is remarkably delicious and I recommend that you try their banana bread, it's the best I've tried in town.
