Of course...we drive down to visit my grandma, the our car takes giant dump on the side of the Grapevine in the middle of the night. Oh joy! We found a mechanic in Northridge, but unfortunately our car was going to take 3 days to fix, so we decided to go ahead and rent a car. We looked online and found that Avis had a Ford Edge listed as available. Because we were thinking about buying one in the near future, we opted to rent that car. When arriving at Avis, we were told that they didn't have that car available, but had a Mazda SUV available. That seemed ok until my husband got into the drivers seat and realized that he was too tall to drive it. So, I got to drive everywhere for 3 days. It wasn't too bad, I just wish we would have gotten the Ford instead so that we would have been more comfortable. read more

I'm not sure why there's a lot of bad reviews in this business. I had a great experience with Diego, he was easy to talked to and accommodating. He gave me couple of options for the car, I reserved a standard SUV, and he offered me a Hybrid Jeep Wrangler or Ford Escape which are both good options. Quick in and out to pickup and fast return. read more

Avis Rent A Car - Car Rental Near Me - Northridge, California

We have rented from Avis Northridge many times over the years and have always had excellent service. The cars are clean and reliable and Diego is the best. read more

Luv this place because im in and out in 5 minutes. Have rented from them several times and have had no issues with any of the vehicles.

Haven't written a review on here in years but these people are forcing me to make my Ali-like return to the ring. I understand every car rental agency sucks. I have to travel almost every weekend for work so I know "reservation" means nothing, they rarely have your car available and generally aren't going to be helpful or show any remorse for screwing you over. Given that baseline wow was this place a piece of work. I reserved the car 12 hours before the scheduled pickup and they said online the car was there. This not being my first rodeo I called to confirm they had the car available and was assured that they did. Spoiler alert- they did not have the car. And when they didn't have the car they explained to me they had not had that car in stock for over a week. read more

The man who was there was extremely rude. I get that they close at 12 pm on a sunday, but if i show up on time and let them know the car is around the corner and should be here a couple of mins before they close, i should still be able to return it. The man at the counter kept saying he would be locked out of the system at 12 but i feel that is just an excuse. If i ever return a vehicle, i would definitely not choose this location. Wish i could give 0 stars. read more

Do not rent a car from here or any Avis they steal money out of your bank account try and charge whatever ever card that they can take money from and charge dbl at the end of your rental and then act like you gave them permission to steal the money from your account even if you paying weekly for the car...Theives Theives Total BS still trying to get my 2300,00+ dollars back for a 30 day rental I never had!!! read more

If I could give them zero stars, I for sure would. Rented a 15 passenger van at least a month before my daughters sweet 16. Went into the office twice, just to touch base and get them to understand that without a van - there was no party. Sure enough - they cancelled on me saying they had no vans 3 days before. Luckily, LAX Van Rental swooped in to save the day. (An actual person who cared - imagine that!) Do NOT. I repeat - do NOT EVER EVER EVER rent from this place if it's actually important to you to get a vehicle. A holes. Yep....I went there. read more

Do not expect them to have the car you reserved. They canceled my reservation the night before I planned on picking up my "pre-paid in advance" car rental. Very unhappy customer Will not be going here again or referring to friends & family. read more

Well for starters, I've had pretty off experiences with other Avis locations, this one though by far the best customer service ever! Thank you Arnold and staff for being on it! Super helpful and always trying to help the customer out! read more

I rented a car and needed to keep it a little longer. I tried to extend it to the end of the day I was originally going to return it but it said I would be charged $70 something for the extra hours. I decided to try and see how much to return the next day at 6pm and it gave me the same total so I went with that one. Little did I know, the place closes at 5pm so I wasn't able to return the car. They charged me for 2 full extra days. read more

No cars available. I didn't find it good. Enterprise is much better than Avis to be honest.

This Company Is a Scam Artist through and through. They offer a deal online but do not tell you up front that if you choose the deal that you cannot return the vehicle ealy and get a refund for the number of days you no longer need the vehicle. They hide that clause in the terms and conditions area instead of letting people know up front. They are essentially thieves. Nor are they willing to help correct this problem. If I or my girlfriend had known up front we would not have take the supposed deal. We are now essentially out $425 because this company cannot be honest and up front. I will never rent a vehicle from this company again. I work in the service industry and this type of thing is exactly what gives companies a bad name when they are not willing to correct or help correct a mistake. If you are smart pay a higher price somewhere else. You would not be treated like this by Enterprise. read more

I have been a happy client of this location for a while. They're professional people and do their best to accommodate clients. More specifically, Arnold is amazing. He has come through for us few times and made things work even though he either was short on inventory or other issues had arrived. He's wonderful with people and customers and it's because of him that we continue to use their wonderful services in the future. read more

I've been renting from this location for years and always had great service. Needed to rent a car for a day and was running late returning it. I called and said I'm running late and I won't be there till 15 minutes after closing and Arnold? (Person working in PM on 12/30) was very accommodating and said not to worry and he will be able to stay till 20 after. Called when I exited and said I'll be there right at 4:20 and that I won't have time to stop by to get gas however, he said that it'll be cheaper for me to fill on my own and that he could wait a little longer while I do so. So nice! I really appreciated the accommodations they made for me today! read more

I had such a great experience with Arnold. I'm an UberEats driver. I had to rent a car for 3 months and was able to upgrade to a Rav-4 at the economy rate the entire whole time. Arnold is awesome and I cannot say good enough things about him. I'll be back if I need to rent again. read more

I've only ever had terrible experiences at this location before -- from rude sales people to dirty run-down cars, but I decided to give them another chance because their rates were cheaper. We rented the car 2 days before the pickup through Priceline. Today we get to the location, and as usual there is no one at the counter for like 5 minutes. The guy finally strolls in and I tell him I'm picking up a reservation. Deadpan, he says, "We don't got no cars." I actually think he's just trying to be funny, and I laugh it off and remind him that I made a reservation. "I don't know what to tell you, we don't got no cars." and he shrugs, and turns his screen around to somehow prove to me that indeed, they don't got no cars. Come up with your own punchline here, because there wasn't much more to it than that. I called Priceline and made sure I could cancel the reservation... or should I say "reservation," without any penalty. I then turned around and went to Enterprise instead, who thankfully had a few available cars and friendly, professional customer service. I don't care how cheap they are, I'm never coming here again. I would call this business a joke but I'm not sure it's even a business at this point. read more

The service here is consistently poor. They're not friendly when they answer the phone, they don't go out of their way to help you, they never have consistent help. If you need a ride for some reason and you don't live that far away they don't offer that or usually don't have anybody available for that. When you go to the counter it's as though they're doing you a service by waiting on you. Better off with enterprise even though they take a long time their service is night and day better than the experience I've had consistently with Avis at this location.. Airport is great read more

Arnold was so helpful. This office is covid conscious and everything was so quick and easy. I definitely recommend renting for them. Cars are clean and well maintained. read more

It's the second time I've rented a car from here and every time it is absolutely filthy and disgusting. The first time the associate apologized and I had to go get the car washed on my own which they reimbursed. My second time I was in a rush for a trip and had no time to do the same. The car reeked of smoked and I used a whole pack of wipes to wipe the seats down- they were brown dirty rags by the time I got done. There is absolutely no hygienic protocols followed at this car rental. read more

After renting a car at Burbank airport for my visit with family, the check oil light came on less than 20 miles after I picked up the car! HORRIBLE SERVICE! The guy said my card wouldn't be charged because my insurance handled it. Needed my credit card just to have on file. Once he swiped, he said" "Oops it charged $1300 to your card".. then he persisted to get an attitude with me when I asked how he missed the screen saying I was going to get charged. He started yelling and being disrespectful as if he's not the one who messed up. When my friend reminded him of what he said prior to swiping my card saying "I'm not talking to you! Is your name on this contract, be quiet!" I was sooooo appalled. I should've known from the low stars. I'd give this place negative stars if I could! My insurance confirmed he messed up And refunded me . read more

I made my reservation a smidge less than a week ago. I came today to pick up my car only to arrive and find there were no cars for me. What's the point of a reservation? I could understand if I just made a reservation today. But there was plenty of time to even call and give me a heads up that there may not be a car for me. I am now scrambling trying to locate another vehicle today! Which is hard plus more expensive. Oh. And the only option given was "here's a pamphlet you can call the number" so I called. They only gave me the option of canceling so I said fine and I got an email that they are gonna charge me $150 for canceling. Yea... that's not gonna fly. read more

I haven't needed to rent a car in a long time. But I'm going out of town for work and my husband needs our car to get to work. I do have a credit card but opted to use my debit card for my rental. I prepaid for a 6 day rental and the $286 was immediately taken out of my account. I then proceeded to go pick up my vehicle only to discover that (even though I read the debit card policy prior to arrival to get the car) there is apparently a credit check that is run on your credit if you pay with a debit card. First of all, that freaks me out because I'm wondering if I now have a hard pull on my credit report? And secondly, I don't know the criteria or score they require. When denied, the system just says "do not rent. Call equifax". But the best part is even though you DONT walk away with a car, the money they took from the debit card is not to be returned for 3 to 10 business days! I needed the car for work the next day. And walked away with no car and almost $300 missing from my account for who knows how long. The person at the counter was not helpful or kind and basically shrugged his shoulders at my troubles and told me to call the 800 number to get my money back. So just make sure that if you rent from this company that you just use your credit card and be done with it. But based on my experience, I'll never rent from them again even with my credit card. read more

Just reserved a premium sedan via Avis.com. Went a day before to finish up the paper work so i can pickup the car next day early morning. Guy at the desk refused and told me i have to come tomorrow. He can not do this today. i said fine, than he asked for our info and said he don't have premium sedan and he can only give me compact SUV which i don't want. i don't like to drive SUV for a long trip. I asked him if i come tomorrow morning will you have premium sedan available he said nope just compact SUV. i told him if he can cancel the reservation he said just don't show up, this reservation mean nothing. We even told him that we will pay at front just to make sure to have the car on that day.!!! We can pay but again he CAN NOT Guaranteed.!!! That's a big joke.!!! What I learned from renting from Avis. It seems like each office is individually responsible for the level of service the Avis corporate requires to provide. I have rented from Avis in long beach, Manager name is Stella, she is a wonderful person and provides excellent service AND reqires that her staff provide the best Avis has to offer as well. I will be a customer of their's for the rest of my life. Now lets talk about Avis in Northridge. They are thieves and crooks and provide ZERO customer service. If I had the choice to walk 100 miles or rent a car from THIS FACILITY, I WILL CHOOSE WALKING! Yes they were THAT BAD! The car I rented had 1/8 of a tank of gas and they marked it as full, I saw it as I was driving off and took it back and the asshole guy changed the paperwork ( remember that, ok? ) when i took the car back 2 weeks and 2 days later i was charged $135 per day for the 2 " late days " When I brought it up to the same asshole guy, he said " I have to call my manager to find out why " wtf? it shows you on the screen why!! he pretended he did not know and said even if i could see why, I dont have the power to change it!!! Also he said ( same guy remember, he rented me the car ) hey the gas tank is not full, I will have to charge you for that!!! I had to remind him he has paperwork that SHOWS the change. he went and found it and said " oh yea thats right, now I remember ". I had to leave, he promosed to have the manager correct the late charge error when he came in the next day. Guess what, they did not change a damm thing AND they did not call me to discuss. THEY DID NOT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT ME OR THE LEVEL OF SERVICE THEY PROVIDED!!! On to the next sucker. D O N O T R E N T F R O M T H E S E AHOLES! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! read more

Avis Rent A Car - Car Rental Near Me - Northridge, California

Updating my review because it has been a while and these last couple of times i've been in the staff has been very friendly and helpful. The cars were clean and in relatively good shape. It could have been because it wasn't as packed or busy but I was happy with these last few rental experiences with them. Why do I keep going back. Its relatively cheap with only $9 insurance. Online coupons and they don't do that $350 deposit Enterprise and Hertz does. read more

Ruined my Christmas Eve! We woke up extra early to come here and get the best car since we are going on a cross-country road trip with a 2-month old. We had come here in person once to reserve the car, and again last night to confirm the reservation and clarify their policy on an additional driver being 24 years old. More on that later. Issue #1: So my husband gets there this morning and wants to know how much the order is with insurance so they process the order with insurance and they take his credit card. Well they decline the card so I check the balance and its TEN DOLLARS short. Crap. Ok admittedly this is somewhat our fault, I had paid $1000 so there would be plenty of room on the card, but a few automated bills went through and we were now short $10. - Ok no problem right? The website says they can split cards. - Nope, no can do. - Ok well can I take off the insurance then? - Nope, no can do. - So you can not modify my order? - Nope, I can get charged with phishing and be fired. - What? Ok... Can you cancel my order and start a new one? - Only if you have a whole new card belonging to an entirely different person and I add you as an additional driver and charge you extra. - WTF? Ok can I speak to your manager? - I am the manager. - You can't work with me at all here? - Nope. At this point we just decide to rent elsewhere. Issue #2 was this: They also had given us conflicting answers on me being able to drive the car. My husband is 26. I am 24. Originally we had attempted to make the reservation with MY credit card. (I couldn't find my husband's card so I requested a new one.) They said they could not do this because I was not 25. Even though it was a joint account. Even though we were married. It HAD to have his name on it. So this made me wonder if I can even drive the car! They say that to add me as an additional driver is $25 a day but maybe we can come back and speak to a manager and get this fee waived. - So yesterday we go there and ask about this - They say that if I am not 25 there is no way I can be an additional driver. It says on the form, I cannot be 24. There is no fee to waive. The manager can not do anything. - WTF? last time they told us there was a fee to waive. - Nope, no such thing. - Ok... well even though she is my wife she can not be 24 and drive? - Oh well that is OK she can drive as your spouse. Umm hmm at this point do I even trust your answer? Why not just say that from the beginning, or when I tried to use my card? Where did this $25 come from? What happens if I get in an accident and THEN you decide to tell me I was never supposed to be driving after all? Then TODAY we finally ask the manager about this issue and here's what HE had to say: - Can my spouse drive if she is 24? - No she can't drive unless we charge her $25 a day. THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THEIR OWN POLICIES! Why is renting a car so awful... Oh and issue #3 - Ended up with a final amount of $900 for a car even though I had been quoted $800 online for an SUV! I had originally gone to Avis because they had the cheapest quote. I guess that's how they suck you in !! Of course since it was Christmas Eve nobody else had any cars, so now my Father-in-law has to spend Christmas Eve checking my car and do an oil change, etc. so we can take our car which we didn't want to put any more miles on the car. read more
