AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE... Damaged vehicle.muddy.dirty car.Milwaukee.11/21/2019 Bad experience with rental car, Avis, absolutely horrible. Received a filthy dirty, damaged vehicle. Body damage to the SUV. Long scratch on the side. Dent, body intrusion. Luckily, I picked it up before I took it off the lot. Smelled like marijuana in the car. I started sneezing. Waited over an hour to try to get the rental situation straightened out. They would not give me another equivalent car on the lot (Because the car is not checked in yet. It will take more over a hour to get to that car.) Absolutely no customer service concept. The gal throwing keys around. My option was to drive a different SUV that has 40,000 miles on it. No thank you...not in this Wisconsin cold. I don't want to risk getting stranded. I told the checkout person about the car smell like marijuana and how filthy it is. His only reply, 'it doesn't surprise me.' Really? I had to stop to buy car cleaning wipes to wipe down the sticky steering wheel, nasty/sticky start ignition button, center console, etc (2 miles from the airport). Then, while I was documenting the car body damage in daylight (as it was pitch black when I picked up the car), I found a nail in one of the tires... I also found that there is no ice scraper in the SUV. It got down to 25 degrees. Windchill in the teens...multiple days. The terrible experience continued when I returned the vehicle. Avis charged me extra for gas (EVEN THOUGH I FILLED UP GAS...BROUGHT BACK WITH FULL TANK). I have pictures to document receipt and Gad tank gauge. They made me make an extra stop just to get the gas refunded (not my fault) while I dragged 2 heavy suitcases there... This is UNBELIEVABLE...

HOUR Long line to get a reserved car.

Why an hour long line? Before you say Avis Wizard, my company does not participate. This is rude to its customers. And (Let's call her Fred) got snippy when I got to the front of the line and asked why an hour is acceptable to Avis. Fred is correct that she had nothing to do with the line. She said she was the only agent scheduled and that the other lady working the counter was admin. I am noticing a pattern with Avis: LAX, Tampa, Orlando, now Milwaukee. Short staffed and long lines. I expected to get a beater car with something wrong with it. But no. It was a full size like the company ordered and it wasn't a POS. Avis owes its employees and customers a better experience.

Car was as advertised and after hours return was easy. Staff was courteous. Only negative was the long line at the counter to get the car.

The lines are long (15-20 deep) and only 1 and occasionally 2 associates at the counter. Have been here 40 min and still waiting!

During my rental, I accidentally…read moredropped my wedding band into a crevice of the center console, landing somewhere underneath the cupholders/parking brake. Knowing that I was going to file a claim with my insurance company for the loss, I informed a manager at drop off what happened just in case my insurance company asked if I had informed them. This manager was so nice. He said I should enter a lost and found ticket with enterprise so that I could give my insurance company proof that I informed them. The branch also called me later saying that they were pulling out the center console and seats to see if they could find it for me! Unfortunately, the car design probably made the ring fall further down, but the effort of this team went above and beyond my expectations. I encourage you to support this business if you need a rental car at MKE airport.

DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE This was not only the worst car…read morerental experience I've ever had. It's the worst company I've ever dealt with! FYI, Enterprise and Alamo are the same company. This Milwaukee Airport location gave me a car that was 300+ miles overdue for service. There was a mechanical problem and the only solution was for me to call a tow truck and get an Uber to where I needed to go. To add insult to injury, after dealing with this, they wanted me to drive the car back to the airport to have the oil changed! The service rep then told me to compensate me, he would extend the Rental for 3 days, to make up for the 3 days I could not use it. What he did NOT DISCLOSE, was that there was an additional $225.00 charge! Since they had my credit card, they just added it to my bill, despite my disagreement! Stay away from this Alamo/Enterprise location!

Purchased the full…read moreoption and when signing the paper work the lady renting the car made it seem that it would be cheaper to pre purchase the full and at no time made it clear that you will not get a refund so the only way that this works is if you return the car on empty. Everything is extra at thrifty and their customer service is a joke. Do not rent from them. Would leave zero stars if possible. Do not rent from thrifty.

HORRIBLE experience trying to contact customer service to make a simple change to my pick up time…read more I had a flight that was delayed by a full day. Tried to change the reservation online and kept getting an error message. I "contacted support" through some old-fashioned form that looked like it was from the 1980's on Bill Gate's first computer...no reply. I tried to call multiple times and couldn't speak to a person- the automated system just keeps listing a bunch of options and then gives you another recorded message in an endless loop of recordings. I'd hate to know what the (non)response would be if I had an emergency while renting with them. What I ended up doing was calling my credit card company and disputing the charge- which was EASY and now I love Chase bank for life. Cancelling this reservation and never again booking with Thrifty. (FYI- Dollar is also owned by Hertz so you might want to avoid Dollar, too.) Enterprise is worth the extra cash and I will never deviate from Enterprise again.

I don't typically write bad reviews; if I have a problem, I try to solve it with the company…read more However, when we rent a van and apparently get a tiny chip on the windshield (we were not aware of when it happened), I will not sit quietly when we're told that it's going to cost US $700 to fix that! Seven hundred dollars is an absolutely absurd price, and there has to be a better way of dealing with that. Companies like Safelite exist for these exact moments--tiny chips can be fixed up and not be an issue any longer. There is not a NEED to go through the dealership and get an entire new, special windshield put in and charge a family $700. Especially for something that isn't caused by neglect or recklesness. There is no way to prevent an accident like a rock, and no need to charge SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS to fix that. Absurd.
