New-ish Toyota Corolla.

Picked up on 08-09-23. Counter only had 2 employees and a line of customer's trying to pick up their vehicles. Took us an hour just to pick up the car which is awesome after being on a plane for 4 hours. Car was a relatively newer Toyota Corolla, but the inside of the windshield and windows were filthy. There was a grimey film on the windshield which is awesome when you're driving through a Wisconsin thunderstorm. The interior of the vehicle otherwise was relatively clean with no odor. $286 for 5 days was the going rate which isn't horrible. Returning the vehicle at the MKE airport was very easy and very self-explanatory. Plenty of signs directing you where to go and what to do. I also thought it was odd there was no one that did a walk around on the vehicle prior to us taking delivery. We noticed an enormous hole in the fabric of the rear seat. I don't think they'd try to blame us for that and are likely already aware of it, but again, there was no walk-around. That seemed quite odd to me.

FRAUDULENT CHARGES & WILL NOT REFUND I have contacted Budget more than four times asking they refund me for the overcharges (See attached images from rental receipt). I explained several times their charges based on the calculations and rates on my rental agreement were wrong. Every time I have explained the calculations and correct rates, the representatives are left speechless, they hang up on me, or tell me their supervisor will call the next day (although they never do). IT'S SIMPLE MATH PEOPLE! They will charge you whatever they want after you have dropped off the car. They will not provide you with a final receipt when you drop off the car. When I dropped off the car, I asked for the receipt with the final charges but was denied this. I was told my receipt would be emailed the next day. Never have I ever had a rental agency tell me they can't provide me the final receipt upon drop off and it's no wonder why, because the place is FRAUDULENT and they will charge you extra for whatever they feel like, behind closed doors.

Updated because service has improved, which isn't to say it is friendly but at least it has been more efficient. I have received clean vehicles the last several times I have picked up a car here. Dropping off a car is easy, the parking garage is well marked for the different rental companies. Park, drop off key, and head straight in to the terminal. Worst Budget car rental I have ever experienced. The company I work for has a corporate account and RapidRez Fastbreak. It doesn't seem to matter here. You still have to wait in line and fill out forms. My car hadn't been cleaned inside and was sticky, the console was greasy, crumbs everywhere and it smelled like fish. When I returned my car before my flight and tried to drop off my keys the employee at the counter literally yelled that I had parked in the wrong place. She said, "What are you doing here?!" She told me that I was supposed to drive into a section of the garage that had "Do Not Enter" signs on both sides of the entrance and park. Seriously? Another (friendlier) employee told me, "You can drive past the do not enter/wrong way signs you just have to watch out."

Knowing that I was going to file a claim with my insurance company for the loss, I informed a manager at drop off what happened just in case my insurance company asked if I had informed them. This manager was so nice. He said I should enter a lost and found ticket with enterprise so that I could give my insurance company proof that I informed them. The branch also called me later saying that they were pulling out the center console and seats to see if they could find it for me! Unfortunately, the car design probably made the ring fall further down, but the effort of this team went above and beyond my expectations. I encourage you to support this business if you need a rental car at MKE airport.

DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE This was not only the worst car…read morerental experience I've ever had. It's the worst company I've ever dealt with! FYI, Enterprise and Alamo are the same company. This Milwaukee Airport location gave me a car that was 300+ miles overdue for service. There was a mechanical problem and the only solution was for me to call a tow truck and get an Uber to where I needed to go. To add insult to injury, after dealing with this, they wanted me to drive the car back to the airport to have the oil changed! The service rep then told me to compensate me, he would extend the Rental for 3 days, to make up for the 3 days I could not use it. What he did NOT DISCLOSE, was that there was an additional $225.00 charge! Since they had my credit card, they just added it to my bill, despite my disagreement! Stay away from this Alamo/Enterprise location!

Tried to change the reservation online and kept getting an error message. I "contacted support" through some old-fashioned form that looked like it was from the 1980's on Bill Gate's first computer...no reply. I tried to call multiple times and couldn't speak to a person- the automated system just keeps listing a bunch of options and then gives you another recorded message in an endless loop of recordings. I'd hate to know what the (non)response would be if I had an emergency while renting with them. What I ended up doing was calling my credit card company and disputing the charge- which was EASY and now I love Chase bank for life. Cancelling this reservation and never again booking with Thrifty. (FYI- Dollar is also owned by Hertz so you might want to avoid Dollar, too.) Enterprise is worth the extra cash and I will never deviate from Enterprise again.

Seven hundred dollars is an absolutely absurd price, and there has to be a better way of dealing with that. Companies like Safelite exist for these exact moments--tiny chips can be fixed up and not be an issue any longer. There is not a NEED to go through the dealership and get an entire new, special windshield put in and charge a family $700. Especially for something that isn't caused by neglect or recklesness. There is no way to prevent an accident like a rock, and no need to charge SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS to fix that. Absurd.
