I don't know why people give this place a bad review. I use this Avis location several times a year and they always have cars available and the young guys that operate the place are all very nice and professional. And they more often than not give you a feee upgrade if there is a nicer car available. Not sure what else you expect from a car rental agency. The one recommendation I would make is for them to paint their waiting area vestibule, it's kind of sad, but you are only in there for a few minutes. read more

Makes me so glad that my job has a partnership with Avis because the logan square location always has cars in stock on last minute weekdays (obviously not holidays or busy season). This was bad service from the manager. The car was dirty inside and out. Hairs on the back seat smelled like smoke. No windshield fluid. I had to ask for it. Windshield dirty. I spoke to the manager cause a sensor light was on. Then it wasn't. I asked for a different car he said there was nothing else. He then said it seems this isn't working that he should cancel my reservation and I should go to one of the airports. I kept the car and said if I have any problems ill call you. His response was I rather you go to one of the airports. read more

Wow. This was an exceptionally bad experience. Stunning, in fact. The 5 star reviews listed for this location are so far-off of every other review that they must be plants, employees, or friends and family - or perhaps they are reviewing the wrong location. The reps were rude and dismissive with that hint of misogyny that lets you know, "These guys really know how to yell at a woman," and the car is total POS. It smells like a cigarette stubbed out in a feted pina colada. Is this the Avis standard? Is this what you guys are all about? To the "gents" working the counter: if you hate customers in general (and women in particular) so much, maybe find a new line of work. Maybe one where no one is forced to interact with you, ever. This Avis is shady! I'm a long time Avis preferred member and never realized how much the service could differ by location. This place definitely doesn't live up to corporate standards. Picked up a car here for a few days while our regular car was in the shop. The next day noticed that part of the undercarriage was being held together by duct tape!! When I called to notify them they had the nerve to accuse me of doing it! To make matters worse, they offered no assistance to get us a safe car that wasn't hanging together with duct tape. Ended up reporting the situation to corporate and driving out to a different location to get a new car. This operation is severely lacking!!! read more

This is by far the best rental experience I've ever had. When I lived a couple blocks away, and I needed to go out of town, I would definitely rent from here. Always had the nicest staff, and service. I would recommend anyone in the city to rent from this location. In fact, they really came through today for a family member of mine. We had an issue in Oct 2023 with an charge, I thought this was resolved as we have an email from customer service in Oct 2023 when I reached out saying as a courtesy they will adjust the $279.92 in dispute. Three months later, Jan 2024, I receive a letter that our account is in bad standing for this amount and that we need to pay. I reach out and showed proof that this was waived. The collection team of Avis told me to call customer service as they can on see this and we need to work with customer service to fix the issue. What issue, I'm told my customer service there is no issue. Even in Jan 2024 when I called. Not sure what I am supposed to do and getting no resolution. I will avoid this company, and suggest others do as well!!! Why can't the collection side of Avis speak with the customer service side and resolve this? Like a number of other reviewers I have also suffered from the apparent "scam" by the agents at this branch of Avis telling you that you've agreed to "full to full" gas but actually giving you no option but to sign up for what the very small electronic screen calls GSO with no explanation other than the agent repeatedly confirming that if you return the vehicle with a full tank there will be no additional charge. What a lie this proved to be. I have been chasing for a refund for over two months with no success so far. WHY ON EARTH WOULD I RETURN THE VEHICLE WITH A FULL TANK IF I THOUGHT I HAD AGREED TO SOMETHING ELSE??!! I would strongly advise against using AVIS, specifically at Chicago, but anywhere really given their refusal to resolve this issue, particularly when looking at other reviews it appears to be fairly widespread read more

My rental experience has been, by far, the worst I've ever had with a rental car company. I picked up the Toyota Camry from the Logan Square Chicago office on Tuesday, February 28th and found the car in rather bad shape. The exterior was fine, but the interior was disgusting. There was garbage in the rear cupholders and in the area under the radio in the front, but this was far from the worst of the condition. It wasn't until I got on the road to make the drive north to Wisconsin. The longer I sat in the car, the more intense and noxious the odor was. At this point, I started looking around the car with more attention and noticed stains on the passenger seat and the rear seats. In the middle of the backseat there is an orange-ish material that is halfway sunk into the fabric. Frankly, I am shocked that this car is in the fleet for a national rental car company. As I became more disgusted with the smell I realized that I couldn't take the smell for all of the 120 miles of my drive so I called the customer service line to figure out a way to exchange the car at a rental location along my route, either at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport or the downtown location. However, after 4 phone calls to customer service, I received no assurances that I'd be able to make a smooth transmission at either location and an offer for a $20 certificate. Although every customer service representative that I spoke with offered their apology for the condition of the car, no doubt part of the script to follow in such a situation, no one was able to resolve the situation. During my first call I declined the offer of $20 and requested a call back from a supervisor (after several more calls to customer service, I've never received a call back). I dropped off the car at the Milwaukee airport and the staff was friendly, gave me a $20 voucher and reduced the price of rental by one day, or $32.99. I told her that I appreciated the adjustment, but this by no means would come close to making up for the experience. During the rental period, I called this location several times and it took at least 10 more calls after I dropped off the car to finally get in touch with a manager, when finally reached he pointed to the adjustment and said there was nothing more he could do. I have been a loyal Budget customer for at least the last 4 years -- I have not rented a car from another company during this period -- but after this experience, unless I were to receive a full refund, I will never use Avis or Budget ever again. Avoid this location if you ever need a car. Customer service was terrible and non-responsive, and the condition of the car was the absolute worst. read more

I rent cars 2 to 3 times a month and they're always very friendly, fast, and courteous

We rented a convertible for our week trip in Malibu and when we arrived we were told to go wait in line for over an hour and a half to then obtain a completely dirty rental. The car had not been washed on the outside nor cleaned on the inside. It reeked of marijuana and there were dirty smudges everywhere. Worst car rental experience ever! Stay away, better to rent with other agencies even if you have to pay a few dollars more. Never again! read more

I reserved a vehicle at the Oak Park Avis, and a couple of hours before I was supposed to pick it up, they called to tell me that the Logan Square location didn't deliver it to them, and didn't have enough employees there to deliver it before my pickup time. I was welcome to go to OP, process the rental, then drive the 25 minutes to Logan Square to actually get the vehicle. Ridiculous. I called around and rented from another company altogether. Logan Square's lack of service lost their company an expensive rental. read more

When I arrived the associate was lounged in chair with his feet propped up on the desk. Was given a hard time about using my debit card . Was told no car available when I had one reserved. I rented a car from this establishment, and was very disappointed with the car that I received. The car was not well kept in addition to having a horrible brown stain on the passenger interior ceiling and sides in which I didn't notice until once I was on the road. Upon returning the vehicle the representative was not apologetic nor accept the accountability for their error, instead I received an explanation on why it could not be cleaned out. I find that very unacceptable to release any vehicle for rental in that condition. I will not ever use that facility again and may reconsider ever using Avis in the future. read more

Very friendly, no problem service. I have rented from them many times over the last three years. Very convenient as well as they are open on Saturdays and Sundays until 2 pm. All the cars have been clean and in good condition. read more

This location is an absolute joke. They were being totally sexist towards me and wouldn't let me use my debit card and made me call my boyfriend to come bring a credit card. (I saw a male and a married female and male couple check out before me) I've used my debit card at another location in the city dozens of times (literally two weeks prior to this reservation) with no problem and had amazing customer service. Not only did they make me wait while already running late to get out of town for a doctors appointment, they wouldn't let me drive the car until my boyfriend looked at it and it wasn't even his reservation nor was he was going on the trip which we told them several times. They also tried to con us into buying insurance when I told them I already purchased it. The car itself was meh, i have always gotten a nicer car at other locations and the USB plug quit working every other song I played. I will never ever rent a car from this location again and spend the extra $30 or so to get treated with respect and get great service and a nice car elsewhere. Don't waste your time or money on this trashy place. I am absolutely disgusted and disrespected with the service I got. read more
