Horrible experience, incredibly unhelpful and unkind. I was returning a car from Michigan that I rented for under 5 hours. Upon returning the car I was told a giant scratch on the trunk was not there when I picked it up. I had also previously contacted the location I picked up from and they said the issue was resolved and the scratch was not my fault. I have just received an over $900 bill of damages across the whole car including interior and exterior charges I was never made aware of. Every single person I talked to about this issue at this location was rude, dismissive and completely and utterly lacking compassion or support. Do not rent from here. read more

To be clear my reservation was paid for by State Farm because this was a loaner vehicle because my car was in the shop due to a car accident. That said, the experience was great. They were ready for me. I expected to wait forever, but they gave me a car quickly. Then when I dropped off the car, one of the managers there gave me a ride back to Elite on Jarvis to pickup my car. It is a early 8am Monday morning and I'm sure things are busy for everyone. However, my insurance company made this reservation was put in a week ago. This Enterprise location called me to confirmed within 3 minutes after the booking for a Monday morning 8 am rental being delivered to the repair shop.. I did not have any thoughts to be concerned. Now at the repair shop, I have received not one call about being late for the rental drop off as scheduled. I had to call them after 22 minutes after the schedule pickup time. When getting them on the phone, I was told they would call me when enroute....you're already 20 minutes late, so when will you be in route? The repair shop also called to check on their status. A customer before me had left as they could not long wait for this Enterprise location to pick then up. They arrived around 40 minutes late... Once arriving the Enterprise staff arrived, she was super nice and caring. We laughed, joked, and had a great interaction. She earned the car for me and provided helpful reminders to ensure I had everything I needed prior to switching cars (IPass, phone charger, etc!). I had to add another star for her. I am not sure if things were her fault for the late pick but I'm leaning towards a no - I'm sure it's management who was ill-prepared for the Monday switch out. read more

I have been standing outside for the last 20 minutes waiting to return my car and get to work, which I will definitely be late for at this point. Whoever the blonde woman is who is working here right now also needs to work on her customer service and instead of ignoring the 10-person line of people or mumbling something under her breath when she walked by, she needed to give us an update so we're not left waiting out here with no information of what's happening. I get that you're busy. Unfortunately, I have little sympathy for you since you could have looked to see how many morning returns you had and scheduled accordingly. If not, at least let your customers waiting outdoors know what is happening so we're not assuming you don't give a damn. This Enterprise Rent-A-Car is predatory and deceitful in a time of pandemic. On May 20th my partner and I rented a Chevy Impala and toll pass from Kyle, who encouraged us to purchase the toll pass rather than avoid tolls on our route to CT. We were traveling to visit my girlfriends family, including a sister who was recovering from COVID-19; needless to say the entire trip was emotionally fraught. We had also been unemployed due to the pandemic, and for all these reasons and more we had decided to save money and lessen anxiety (and our exposure to surfaces) by avoiding toll roads altogether. However Kyle's suggestion of the toll pass seemed like a worthy investment. How wrong we were. Less than an hour into our journey we were stuck at a toll when the pass failed. You can imagine the stress and danger of being stranded on a highway with a dysfunctional machine bleeping insidiously orange, the invisible threat of a virus lurking on every surface, big rigs thundering up behind us. Then having to back up in the midst of all this panic. When I called from the road to ask whether the toll pass had been activated, Kyle was unhelpful and unsympathetic to our situation, suggesting we detour to another Enterprise location on our way. This was obviously unacceptable on a 900-mile journey during a pandemic on the way to care for my sweet woman's elderly mother and recovering sister. We had initially not planned to use toll roads at all, remember? And now we were stuck on them. Kyle then begrudgingly told us to collect receipts and we would be refunded when we returned the car on May 22nd. While it was inconvenient and alarming to have to stop at cash tolls for the duration of what became a sixteen hour drive -- due to having to stop at cash tolls -- we felt this was a reasonable solution. On May 22nd we returned the car in Connecticut, where the receipts were scanned. However the refund never came. On June 2 we followed up with 5313 N. Sheridan and spoke with Ryan. He appeared sympathetic to our situation and assured us he would do his best to handle the problem by the end of the day. Again, we sent the receipts. No response. We waited for our refund. Didn't happen. On June 5 we followed up and spoke to Kyle, who said, "We received the emails, sometimes it takes 2-3 days to process. It should be processed in the next couple days." No refund. We called again on June 21, extremely frustrated, and Kyle said, "I don't know why, we have the email, it should take a couple days but we'll get that for you plus a little extra for your troubles." Nothing. This morning, July 2, I called and spoke with Kyle again, who claimed that a credit for $40 had been applied. The "little extra," I suppose, was three dollars? A dollar for every phone call spent hounding? And nothing for the broken toll pass? Anyway, we've received not a cent. Kyle emailed an invoice (that we suspect was hastily crafted) showing a credit of $40, undated, with another customer's address. He had us digging through statements as though we had made an error. A lesser couple than us could call this behavior gaslighting. After speaking to his accountant he had a new story for us. He said Enterprise and my girlfriend's bank have been having problems working together. If that's the case, how was he able to charge us? And furthermore, why wasn't this information relayed to us earlier, and not after six weeks of headaches and phone calls? When on hold with Enterprise, cheery music plays. Happy employees voice Enterprise's motto: "We go the extra mile," but they haven't gone an inch. This is a typical case of a corporation squeezing the little guy and making them jump through hurdles and wait in the hope they will burn out. Do to the right thing Enterprise. Refund us. Update: After much fuss, we were finally reimbursed. Unfortunate that it took so much hassling but at least it worked out. read more

While not exactly inexpensive, Enterprise has excellent customer service and delivers what they promise! Reserved a luxury vehicle for a day trip up north and was given an Infiniti QX80. It was enormous and much more than we needed but the extra features and room were appreciated. The service agent showed us to the car right away and was waiting for us when we returned. Apparently, Enterprise will no longer pick you up or take you home. They allowed me, a 60 year old woman to walk home in 31 degree weather, pelting rain and high winds, rather than drive me two blocks home. Additionally, this location has no key slot so you cannot return a car after 12 on Sundays, forcing you to pay an additional day rental. Finally, my $300 deposit has STILL NOT BEEN RETURNED. They said expect it within 20 days. Absolute worst customer service known to man. I will NEVER use Enterprise or this location again. Where's my money???????????????????????? read more

Pros: easy to reserve, car drove well, friendly employees. Cons: When I initially picked up my car they said they could drive me back to the auto body shop when I returned the car. As stated in the rental agreement, they knew the name and address of the body shop. However, when I returned my car, I was told they wouldn't be able to take me because it was more than a mile away. This is the third Enterprise location I have used and while Enterprise is still better than other rental companies, it was pretty frustrating to discover that I would have to find alternate transit to get back and pick up my car. read more

Fortunately we had no issue but upon return this was our discussion: Us: You rented us a car with expired tags and registration Them: We have over 2500 cars in this area Us: And? I recently took a trip back home to Chicago and needed a car that I could pick up in the city. I chose this location simply because it was close to the Red Line. I was offered an upgrade for $5/day from the smallest car they have to a small SUV, which happens to be the same car I drive at home. Deal. The car was nice and new and clean I was out the door quickly. Fast forward three days and after a storm had hit the city and my rental was parked on the street, I came out to discover than a tree branch had snapped off in the storm and come crashing down through the windshield. After freaking out and repeatedly thinking to myself "are you kidding me!?!?!" and "am I being punked?"...I called them and was told to bring the car back in all it's glass shattered glory. The young lady there was so incredibly nice and understanding during this time in which I was internally freaking out. She wrote up the report on the incident and had me in a new rental within 20 minutes. I would suggest this specific Enterprise just because of her and how professional and kind she was when dealing with this really crappy situation. Side Note: I did decline coverage when renting the car, but only because I rented with a Visa card and Visa specifically requires you decline coverage from the rental company for them to cover it. If I did NOT rent with my Visa card, I would highly suggest taking the coverage! read more

"Meh" indeed. Went in last Wednesday to pick up a car for a road trip. Strike 1: It was pouring rain, and the girl who took us out to see the car made us sign our contract and choose our insurance options outside (three of us crouching under my umbrella), rather than go back into the office where we could talk about what we were signing in relative dryness. Strike 2: It turned out that the front wheel that we pointed out looked awful WAS awful, and we ended up having to switch to another car in Middle of Nowhere, Wisconsin, where they told us the car shouldn't even have been rented to us in that condition. Strike 3: They're closed on Sundays with no drop box for the keys, so I had to show up at 7:30 on Monday morning to drop off the car. Looks like you're out, Enterprise on Sheridan. The only nice part of our rental car experience--completely unrelated to this location--was that the Roadside Assistance representative was really helpful, and we ended up with a better car in the end! read more

The employees were friendly, and everything about the car was fine. I just wish they were open later. We rented a car for one day, intended to have the car back by 6 but ran into traffic. Good part: they only charged me for the one day. Huge sigh of relief there! Bad part: they didn't seem to care that I don't have a place to park this thing...I don't own a car in the city for this exact reason! Fortunately, they hesitantly allowed us to park it in their driveway and return the keys at 7:30 the next morning in order to not be charged. I admit that I waited to review this place until after we bought a car again. And after a dozen or so renting experiences over the past year or two, I'm ambivalent. We always managed to get a good deal online, and at the end of the day that was our priority. Also, they were significantly less hellish to work with than Hertz over on Western. So worth it? Yeah. Customer service? In person, fantastic. They'll give ya a lift back home, and they are super nice and down to earth as people. But I swear, it was always SOMETHING standing in the way of the process of just getting me in the door, and then getting me back out and into a car. It's sorta like that Seinfeld episode about the reservations: "They know how to take the reservation, they just don't know how to keep the reservation. And isn't that really the most important part?" Sometimes it was weather. Sometimes it was a holiday rush. Sometimes, though, I had been bumped by one of their corporate clients. Or they were understaffed, etc. Did they always eventually get me on the road? Yes. But oh, the cumulative hours I've spent sitting in that awful little grey, salt-laden, boring waiting area, just hoping to get in a car at a set time like they'd promised. There were days that when they finally called my name to go out and get in the car, I felt like I'd been called down on the Price Is Right. Nice people. Good prices. But MY GOODNESS that wait or hassle was a pain. Literally. Actual pain. And it was seriously EVERY TIME! [phew] Writing that was therapeutic.
