Just had my oil changed done for $69.99. But I was charged $82.87(charged me $8.50 for supplies not I was not made aware of. A tire rotation was included for the $69.99 price. When got home, I noticed that the tires were not rotated. I had labeled the front tires A and B. The front tires were still A and B. They wanted to do my brakes and Struts for over $2000. I declined. Work that was supposed to be done was not, then when you call them on it, they seem bothered. They corrected it while I waited, even after they had my car for three days to complete the work CORRECTLY. Upon me paying my bill and leaving, not an apology, or a thank you, or a goodbye. Literally fixed everything they said would get my car running and it did nothing. Charging 450 to replace a $100 battery that is easily accessible is crazy. Last year they didn't want to recharge my a/c. Several calls were made, and they told me the schedule was booked 3 weeks out. My wife called and the guy tells her they can do it same day, that they operate on first come, first served basis. We drove for 5 minutes to drop off the car, and then they told me "someone had just got there in line ahead of us". The poor guy tried to tell his manager he just talked to us on the phone, but the manager said they couldn't do it. I was hoping they had gotten better, so I called today to see about scheduling an oil change (I've had no issues in the past, they have been very professional and good at the work). But after being on hold for 10 minutes with no explanation (are they busy assisting customers? Are they short staffed?) I hung up. I have had AAA for a long time! I knew AAA had opened in North Riverside but never had used them for auto service until recently. My 2001 Ford F-150 had a wobble in the steering wheel at 60 mph. I took it in for service at AAA. They put a lot of work into the front end. Including ball joints, control arms, 2 new tires, and an alignment. Also had the oil change service done. Kevin did a great job with scheduling the appointment, communicating what was being done, and making it happen. He even rummaged through the discard pile to get my old parts. Zero faith after an oil change led to a massive leak a couple of weeks later. Not the first time according to other reviews

I was there yesterday and I left in completed disappointment. First the call meet me know I need 4 tires. Which I won't completely disagree with but I purchased one there last year. In reality I need 3. 1) I asked them to make sure all the tires read the same Pressure 2) I wanted the same type of tire. 3) he told me it would take 90 min . I go back at that time I go check on my car. He then tells me he had to order the tires! (Could of called me) I go back a few minutes later, tells me they are in their way - must of gotten stuck by the train. Ok go back to the car really they get there an hour later Tires are a different brand And I really needed to leave I will not go back Really a train that long!! My wife took her car in for brake service, her brake pedal was going down to the floor. Upon inspection the mechanic determined that she needed rear brakes replaced along with the front brakes needing to be replaced also, the work was performed on the front and back. Upon completion she noticed that the brake pedal was still going to the floor still. Brought her car back a couple of days later and they said they did everything right like bleeding the braking system, now they determined that she needed a new master cylinder, we didn't believe that because that should have been found out after the first full inspection and completion of the work. Took her car to the dealership and they said that air was in the system along with incorrect brake fluid. They fixed the issue without replacing the master cylinder, and to add to it they (AAA)use autozone parts, which to me is what your diy mechanic would use, nothing against autozone, but for the price they charge for repairs, why not use genuine parts made for that make of vehicle. The service has declined with the personal they have there now versus a couple of years ago. AAA determined a new cylinder was needed but the dealership determined improper trouble shooting was done and as of now, the issue with the brake pedal is fixed. Trying to save some money by going to AAA,cost her extra, if you can afford it, take your car to the dealership and not AAA!!!!!! read more

I went for an oil change and was told I needed rear brakes and the quoted me. I asked if it could wait until my next oil change and was told probably in about a month. I went somewhere else that was recommended and they came out to me and looked puzzled and asked if I was hearing squeeking and said no that AAA Car Care Services told me last week at my oil change that I needed brakes and it couldn't wait until my next oil change. My rear brakes were fine, not even close to needing to be replaced and was told by the other place to check them in about a year or sooner if I start having issues. Come Early or Wait for Hours!! I have been trying to make an appointment for weeks but it's booked up. I asked about walk-in appointments and they said to Come early. Downfall is they are SLOW! 7:30AM comes really early! My car was done just before 9AM so my recommendation is to come early and Buckle down. Bring books, laptop and headphones. Sitting area was slammed by 8:30AM. Only thing I didn't like was the triple AAA guy coming out to give a sales pitch. I just kept my headphones in. The past two times I had to go back because oil was leaking all over my driveway. Both times it was a matter of tightening the filter! As for the tire rotation, thats a big come on! The past two times it was not done! I even went back this last time . They claimed again that it was done & it was no! I , also, had a problem with leaking trans fluid & they were completely incorrect on how to solve the problem! I guess thats' what you can expect from mechanics that ate not certified! I would leave zero but I can't! AAA towed me here to fix a flat tire. They patched it. One and a half weeks later, the same tire is flat. Place is closed. Two Ubers to work later...a Sunday 1.5 hour appointment at Sears...and I find out what was wrong with the tire.. THERE IS A TEAR BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T PROPERLY LUBRICATE THE TIRE WHEN THEY PUT IT BACK ON. As in, yes, THEY PATCHED A TIRE FOR $20 BUT THEN GAVE ME ANOTHER FLAT BECAUSE THEY RUSHED AND PUT IT BACK ON IMPROPERLY! Am I supposed to expect this service just because I was a customer before the place closed for the day? I don't think so! Such shoddy work! It cost me $60 in Ubers and at least 7 hours of my time--waiting for a ride home from work and then 2.5 hours of my sunday and another $100 for a new tire, aka $160 because they messed up putting my tire back on properly! I don't understand how this place works. Well I mean, I guess that's just it. It doesn't. This is my 3rd time here for an oil change and sadly after that, our last. Number one complaint, this place does not understand the meaning or purpose of an appointment. So this is my third time making an appointment and third time not getting things done on that time. Why does this place make appointments if they can't keep them? Reading the other reviews on here and see that this is apparently a comment problem. Why can I go down the street to any one of the other oil change places and get in and out within 20 min? What's so wrong with this place that they can't maintain time? The front desk people are always nice and friendly. The place is clean and inviting. But the actual service is terrible. I'm giving them 2 stars. One for being a clean and inviting environment. And one for nice staff. But that's as far as they get. So for actual service 0. I would say if you are in a hurry or need to keep within a certain time frame, don't go here. Any other oil change place can handle that. As for the work itself, they fail there too. When I finally did get my oil change they forgot to reset the cars oil change computer sensor, left greasy hand prints on the hood and door and forgot to fill the windshield washer fluids. Sad because this is a nice and easy location for several towns to get too and lots of other business around to spend time at while you wait. read more

Made an appointment online and was told I would receive a call within 24 hours to confirm my appointment. One week went by, never received a call. 2. Went in at time of my appointment, 3 hour wait for oil change and alignment. 3. After alignment car was worse than when I went in. They "corrected" whatever they did and said my car was just as it was when I came in. I went there for it not to be like it was when I came in!!! Went in because I got a coupon for free oil change and tire rotate. I use pure synthetic oil and it cost me $40, which I think is high for the price differential between the two oils. Also, their regular oil change price is $89 without tire rotation, which is a fair amount higher than Jiffy Lube or other quick change places. Had an appointment and it still took over an hour. At the quick change places I have used, I am usually in and out in about 20 minutes. The staff is very friendly and the facility is quite nice and comfortable with free coffee. I did visit for a bit with the travel agent and she was friendly and helpful. In short, nice facility and friendly staff, but on the slow side with high pricing. read more

The reason for the low score is this... this particular location in North Riverside, IL DESTROYED my engine back in December 2018 when I took it in for a regular oil change. I had went there for the same service several times before with incident but that time, whoever the technician was "failed" to do something. My vehicle was in VERY good condition running smoothly before I left. Half way home I began to hear a knocking sound. I turned around and took it right back. They looked at it, told me they didn't hear or see anything wrong and asked did I hear the noise before bringing it in. I get how some people try to scam but that's not me...I make enough money and have a moral compass so I don't need to do all that. Anyway, the noise persisted and the next day (a Sunday) the check engine light came on. The day later on Mon I took it to the dealership and as soon as I got it there it died. They told me I had to get a whole new engine. They said whoever did the oil change performed it "incorrectly" by either failing to remove the old oil filter seal or did something while refilling the oil. This was mid December and all engines through the manufacturer were on back-order. I had to pay for a rental car for 3 months which of course I could get no reimbursement through my insurance company because it was not considered an "accident". I called AAA customer service to report my complaint but nothing ever came of it and no one ever followed up with me about it so I swore to never go to another one of your service centers again. Overall based upon my prior experiences and other customer reviews they are decent enough BUT not worth the risk in my opinion. That whole ordeal was so inconvenient, financially draining of my spending money (holidays remember), and lack of accountability left a bad taste in my mouth about their service shops. I can see if I messed up my own car but I didn't. For this to happen due to no fault of my own gave me qualms about going to any other car place for my oil change other than the dealer. read more

They refused to replace my battery because my starter motor was bad. Had to have it towed by Geico to Elite Auto in Forest Park. Within the hour Rod called and said my car was ready; all he had to do is replace the battery. Now I'm out of pocket for $249 ($189 for the battery and $60 for labor). Never go to AAA for moderate to major problems with your car. AAA is only good for oil changes. I went in a few weeks ago and told them specifically that my car was lurching or jumping forward when I accelerate. I tried really hard to explain to them what the problem was. They acted like they knew what they were doing. They said when they did their "diagnostic" on the car - they did ***not*** notice a problem. But they recommended to do a tune up anyways. And they said it was a "gamble" for me to decide to fix my car with them, because it might not actually fix the real problem. I don't understand how someone like me who knows nothing about cars, can tell there is a problem. And their mechanics who deal with cars everyday cannot notice the problem. So I ended up doing a tune up which I did not need. I left the AAA office with my car - and noticed the problem was still there. I went back and told them the problem was still there. They told me to drive it around for a week to see if it goes away on its own. The next day, I took my car to the toyota dealership - and I went thru the same explanation. They immediately noticed it was a transmission problem - They fixed my car, AND they drove it around after they fixed it to make sure the problem was gone. The lesson here: ALWAYS take your car to the dealership for any repairs like these. I wasted $400 at this AAA for work that was not necessary. I don't ever want to do business with a repair shop that doesn't care to fix the real problem. Especially when the customer has clearly explained what the problem was. If they don't know what the problem is - they should not offer to fix it. It's a waste of the customer's time and money. read more

Every encounter I've had with AAA has been positive. I only recently began using the car care service in North RIverside but they fixed a laundry list of problems with my van. Dominic stayed in touch with me and called twice to keep me posted of progress. The parts wait was a little long but definitely not the fault of this facility. I like using my member discount and I've always been satisfied with the towing and starting services from AAA. Roadside assistance is also available from auto insurance policies but the only times I or anyone I know have used those providers have been complete failures or nearly so. We got memberships for our adult children years ago. It's hard to imagine not having AAA. read more

I am so happy that AAA has opened it's North Riverside Car Care Plus site on Harlem Avenue. I have been there several times, four family cars, for services and the last time, Jan. 10, 2017, was the best! I had a 10:00 appointment and I arrive five minutes early. I checked in and was told that it would take 45 minutes to perform my requested services. My car was brought into the service bay at exactly 10:00! While I was waiting I spoke with an insurance agents about life policies for my family. When we finished discussing insurance I received a gift bag for getting a quote along with a certificate for $10.00 off of my service cost. I then sat down in the waiting area and shortly afterwards at 10:45 I was called to the service counter to let me know that my car was ready!!!
