We needed to run and pick up a box from Abt Appliances which was too large for our own sedan. We were going to get a truck rental from Home Depot, but they were unprepared and unprofessional. We needed something FAST. Mac Bauer and Enterprise saved the day. On a busy Saturday, right before they closed, we were in an SUV within an hour (timed from the call to the 800 line and preparation and pickup). We appreciated the veterans discount and the kind words from the 800 line operator. She was a pleasure to deal with and she found us a SUV that met our needs. When I picked up and then dropped off the next day, I became very impressed by the service and professionalism shown by Mac. The price was fair with unlimited mileage overnight and an immaculate SUV. We have used a different Enterprise near our car repair shop (3029 N. Kedzie) and our experience there was excellent as well. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with this company when we went to rent a car, we called them finished the issues, we went the other day they asked for car insurance which is fine then they refused the debt card, we gave them the credit they said the car is not ready and tried to give us a different car. We didn't come to rent a car for free, they messed our day, we had to stay in the cold waiting for Uber, in addition we felt that we were not welcomed . I don't know why this all.. Staff will not honor the car you reserve on your account and will claim it's because you showed up after the check in time you set. Ironically, if you show up on time or early for your appointment they will still not have what you're looking for and take an extra hour to get you into a vehicle. We had to get a rental last minute after our car got damaged so I called a couple of enterprises to set-up a rental asap. When I called this location at around 4pm, they said that they can have one ready for us the next day, bright and early at 8am! When we got there, Princess helped us out - she was very nice, accommodating, and worked efficiently despite some hiccups with car availability! They gave us a 2022 Camry that was freshly washed. Only one person working at the counter. Arrived early for my reservation and ended up waiting more than 30 minutes to get my car.

My boyfriend and I rented a Mazda SUV for 4 days on morning of 7/17/2022 from this location in Chicago in order to go to Virginia and then come back. In addition, while renting the car, i mentioned to them that i was going to VA and returning in 4 days. Next morning, when we woke up in Virginia, my dashboard was shown that something was wrong with the car. So i drove to an enterprise location in Virginia to rent another car with no problem since we were traveling so far. However, they didn't help me and then i went to a second location in Virginia and still there was no help. None of them came out to look at the control panel to see what was wrong with the car, AT LEAST. So i had to call from Virginia to where to Chicago. So enterprise in chicago where i originally rented the car told me to go to an airport location in VA so that we could return the broken car and then pick up a car that was reserved by an agent on the phone in Chicago. But i drove there only to be told they couldn't help!!! When i mentioned what is wrong with the car, NO ONE stepped out to look at the control panel warning, AT LEAST?!?!?! And then I called back to Chicago multiple times after my initial call and still was told same thing to go pick up a cat at a reserved location in Virginia. But i was turned down with no help. So i spent for whole 4 hours just like that, making calls to enterprise and driving from enterprises in VA. I was NOT satisfied with your service at all. So i had decided to return the car to enterprise after 4 hours since i didnt get ANY help from them and rent a car from Hertz. I paid what they asked me to pay so in return, i expect to rent me reliable car with excellent customer service, especially when i was driving hundreds of miles. Enterprise has NO DUE DILIGENCE whatsoever. After all this ordeal, i was charged fully when i returned that broken car. I didn't want to drive the car after that problem rose because it's my safety and it is not my car if anything more happens. read more

This is the closest enterprise to where I currently live . I have always had a good experience with my enterprises. Anyways I just got home from renting a truck for personal reasons. The whole staff was really nice. I got in and out pretty fast and it WAS really busy. I want to give a special shout out to Ryan B. For being an Angel when I was about to have a nervous breakdown because I was in a big hurry to get out of there and he helped me immensely. I'm not someone why typically reviews anything ever but I needed to shout out the team working this location tonight (11/21). They were completely backed up with thanksgiving travelers and short on vehicles due to folks delaying their returns. This team went out of their way to get everyone into cars before closing for the evening. They handled everything kindly and patiently and even drove myself and other customers to a different location in order to get us on our way sooner. I can only imagine what working at a rental car service the week of thanksgiving is like - thank you for the excellent customer service! read more

UPDATE: Audrinne (the assistant manager) was very helpful and eventually refunded my money. I rented a car from this location 2 weeks ago. The car they gave me was FILTHY. It appeared that it had not been cleaned out before they rented it to someone else. It had dried mud all over the interior + exterior, animal hair everywhere and it smelled like someone had previously smoked inside. I was running a day behind on my travel plans for a funeral and needed to leave immediately so I begrudgingly took the car. I reached out to the manager of the location after I arrived at my destination and let him know that the car was disgusting and previously smoked in (I didn't want to be charged for anything) and included pictures of everything. I did not receive a call or email back for several days so I forwarded the email to all of the employee email addresses I could find for that location. I finally got an email back from an assistant manager apologizing. She told me that my entire rental would be refunded. Awesome! What was not awesome was returning the car and still having my credit card charged, despite showing the employee the email exchange I had with his manager stating that I was not to be charged. He informed me that he would still have to process the charge, that they would then cancel it and the money could be expected back in my account within a few business days. It has now been TEN business days (two weeks) since the car was returned and my money has still not been refunded. What awful customer service. Avoid this location at all costs. read more

Dirty cars and bad customer service....rented a car from here and was in a rush. They didn't have any cars so I had to go to the oil change place to get my car with one of their staff. I get my car and it reeks of cigarettes and some deodorizer. So, having no time I get on the road. Then as I'm driving I notice it doesn't look like they clean the car, there are crumbs on the floor, pet hair on the dash, and the windshield has a haze from not being cleaned. I being the car back and the manager couldn't car less. I guess dirty cars and dissatisfied customers are a regular thing here. read more

This location is incredibly convenient. Maybe because I live nearby buy it's just nice to have a rental car place outside of the loop. I was in a car accident recently and needed a rental. This location had very friendly staff and hooked me up with a car that was completely covered by my insurance so I didn't owe a dime. The location itself needs some TLC - it has a weird smell and there are stains on the carpet. I don't work here so it doesn't bother me, but it just doesn't give the most professional vibe. These guys just successfully ruined my gf's long weekend birthday plans. She booked a vehicle through Expedia. Got there to pick it up, they ran her CC, not enough balance to cover the deposit. Can she use her debit card? Well, their "policy" is that you need a DL, and 2 bills/pay stubs to verify ID. Can't just pay your CC or get a limit increase and run it again, since once declined, your CC is locked out of their system for 24hrs. So we go 5 miles back home and look for the bills etc. We just moved so our info is not all up to date, but we get a pay stub with the old address, a bank statement with the new and an electric bill with the new. Not good enough. Nicole turned us away, and when I called Enterprise's customer service they helpfully asked if there was anyone else who could pay for the car? And since the payer has to be the driver, that would mean also drive my gf to Minnesota for 3 days? Apparently that idea wasn't obviously stupid to the rep. Epic fail. So we were left trying to find a rental last minute at a reasonable rate on Labor Day weekend. In the end my gf isn't going home to see her family for her birthday, and she's out the rental insurance fee she paid on expedia. Have fun with your policies and winning customer service. I don't own a car. I've tried a handful of different car rental companies. Enterprise is not the cheapest, but they have consistent service and have cars when and where I need them. I frequently luck out and get newer cars, but regardless of the car, its always immaculate and full of gas. My experience last night at the Milwaukee location was SUPERB. It was 20 minutes to close when I walked in the door. The manager greeted me heartily and I was helped immediately by Colby. I really appreciate how the staffed worked as team to get me out of there in a timely fashion. On his way out, the manager shook my hand, called me by my name, and thanked me for my business. In these, and to be honest, any economic times, customer service goes a long way. The team at this Enterprise will continue to get my business. read more

Due to terrible drivers, smh, I've had to rent a car from this location while my car's being repaired 2 times. Each time was pretty much seamless. Not sure if that's due to Enterprise or Allstate, but the customer service I've received here is always pretty good. So no complaints from me...so far. read more

This is the most inept staff I have ever encountered. Additionally, the woman I had the misfortune of working with alleged that I was not a "reputable person" as I had a past due balance on a cable bill. I paid it on the spot but this was still not sufficient. I'm not sure who is in charge of this location but typically it's not advisable to insult your clients when you work in customer service. The requirements are ridiculous and she would not explain why she needed certain items (they can't verify your identity using a passport or state ID as these are not official documents according to the employees). It goes without saying that I will not be returning to this location. For the sake of future customers, I hope that someone who possesses basic manners will be hired as opposed to someone who passes judgment on my character in front of other clients. I have never been humiliated by an employee who is supposed to be serving me. I was so furious that I did not ask for the manager but it's a disservice to Enterprise to employ this woman. I rented a Toyota Camry that was listed as a little under $30 per day. I rented it for 2 days. My total price with all the many and surprising extras was $130. I was emailed a pdf file receipt as I was leaving. The pdf receipt requires you to download it from the sent email first - the receipt/cost breakdown info is not listed in the body of the email itself. Please take the time to download the pdf and review it before you drive off or insist on a paper receipt. I was in a hurry when I left and was charged for collision insurance, which I specifically asked NOT to have (my own insurance covers rental cars). Phone charger in car didn't work even though it said it was charging (lightning bolt/charging icon was displayed). And yes, my charging cord worked at home. Phone only had about 15% of a charge when I arrived at my destination. I use maps on my phone to navigate when driving. And I, of course, need it in case of roadside emergencies. "Maintenance Required!" light came on while driving. I called it in and was told that that just happens with Toyotas when they need an oil change. Windshield wiper fluid ran out. Note: when returning car here you have to park on Milwaukee Ave in Wicker Park/Bucktown area. It can be difficult to find parking on certain days/nights. Factor in walking from parking spot with luggage, etc. My advice is that if you must rent from here be sure to diligently double-check everything up front. I regret being in such a hurry when leaving and I was very tired when returning - after a very long day of driving. I reported everything that happened and I did receive an apology. I did not receive any discounts on my original price of $130. And, you know, sometimes you're just too tired to fight after a long work trip. They got me. Please don't let the same happen to you. read more

This location is absolutely absurd! My rental was refused because my debit card had to be accompanied by a utility bill that had to be under $100.00 and it didn't matter if you paid the bill!!! I would love my utility bills to be under $100.00 in my big duplexed first floor apartment! And I had just rented during Memorial Day weekend with no problem and the best agents who were friendly, nice and helpful! No more! Usually competitive prices when I look through Kayak/Expedia/etc. compared to others. He offered me a free weekend rental and that I would just need to email him and he would set it up for me. This made me happy. So its 6;59 pm on Valentines Day, and when I arrived, Mason and his team were closing up and getting ready to be with their girlfriends. I needed a rental since earlier my vehicle fell victim to one of chicago's notorious " pot holes from hell'.. Not only did they re-open, but they unloaded my vehicle assisted with getting me an available car, were patient as we experienced some computer issues.. Anyone else would probably have left me stranded. After 25 hours I was finally on my way home, felling very appreciative for the extra effort these young men exhibited.. That is the type of customer service which very few companies exhibit today, and these gentlemen were a fine representation of this rare virtue. I would not hesitate to recommend or even employ such men, as they truly were empathetic and handled my somewhat awkward situation without any hesitation whatsoever. Thank you! read more

After being stuck in traffic from having to return the car at an airport location, I found this place 3 blocks from my place. The convenience itself is pretty worthwhile in time savings. I found a pretty good weekend deal that I took advantage of, but didn't end up getting the type of car that I was hoping to get. I'm rarely particular about things, or maybe not depending on whom you speak with, but I just don't ever want to drive a PT Cruiser or an HHR. Yeah, if I'm getting a ride from someone else who is offering, it's okay. If I have a choice I'm turning it down. In any event the couple of staff members Ashley and I can't remember the guy's name were pretty great. First they know about their cars, like when oil changes are going on to determine what is truly available. They also know a thing or two about cars even though mine beeped for an oil change it was just because it wasn't reset. They were very accomodating and were able to offer me something else. They even dropped me off at a bus stop to get to work when I took the car back. I think I have rented from every car rental company there is, and from my experience Enterprise does have the best service! read more

This location is horrible. The only reason it is getting two stars from me is because the guy that worked at the counter when I picked up the car was really nice and I felt bad for him since he was the only employee there. This location is pretty busy yet they don't have anyone working there or enough employees to take care of the customers. I showed up on time to pick up my car and there was one representative taking care of many customers. The car wasn't ready when I got there and they did a really poor job of cleaning the car. I had a long drive ahead of me around 4-5 hours so I just needed to get out of there. While on the road, I noticed the car did not have cruise control, something that was standard for an Intermediate car which I requested. I had a long drive and without cruise control, it wasn't fun at all. So it appeared they gave me a compact car, a Toyota Yaris. Well, at this point, it was too late so I had to bear 5 hours each way without cruise control. Returning the car was even worse. I was trying to pull in to the tiny driveway and one of the workers that ran the garage told me not to and just put his hand up to tell me to stop and then shut the garage door and then walked away. Mind you, this was a fairly busy street, he did not even help me back up since i already pulled into the driveway. I was shocked at the blatant disregard of customer service. Who shuts the garage door on his customers like that and then proceeds to walk away. It took me quite awhile to back up safely and find street parking to park my rental car. So i walked in to return my rental car and surprise, surprise, no one was at the counter. There were about 5 people in front of me and NO ONE was at the counter. I could hear someone talking in the small office in the back so someone was working there but yet NO ONE WAS HELPED. Everyone looked pretty pissed off too. I waited awhile and then two people showed up but the line was getting bigger. The lady in the back was talking on the phone loudly and laughing while her customers were not being helped in the front. She did not come out even once to check to see her employees needed help or not or if customers were waiting. The last straw was me asking about the drop off service and was told that they did not do that. And he said that even if they did, they did not have enough people to do that so it would take like an hour. Wow, worst customer service ever and honestly, I don't think I would rent from enterprise again. I usually do enterprise but this experience was just so bad that I don't think they can redeem themselves. read more
