The availability of cars wasn't that great from what I remember but the upgrade was cheap and the staff was accommodating considering I came earlier than my reservation time (since I don't like to be late). Prices are fairly cheap in general. Gas should be factor in already online, but it's not. Come on people, it's 2011. Well, it was 2010 when I booked it. read more

It was chill. Rental works, it's not the cleanest but I plan in returning it in about the same condition so no Biggie. Idk now I need to fill in this yelp essay requirement. Ummmmm I wish the app was better but that has nothing to do with the site. My girlfriend's pretty cute. read more

Todd and the crew are top notch. I rent from this location frequently and I'm always greeted warmly and taken care of quickly. Cars are always clean and fueled properly. Easy in and out at Long Beach airport. read more

great experience!! When I returned, Tom was amazing! I forgot to fill up with gas so he let me take the car for a few more minutes, directed me to the closest gas station, and then was so nice and chatted with me when I returned but not an annoying amount it slowed me down, the friendly amount to make me want to work with him again. Thumbs up for Avis but a triple thumbs up for Tom in the return area read more

There was 0 customer service when we went to Avis. Rented a car and it had an automatic locking feature that we were not told about. We got the keys, put our luggage in the trunk, walked over to get a booster seat and when tried to put the booster in the car found that all the doors were locked with the keys and our belongings inside. The people there were extremely rude (especially MIKE) and unhelpful when we told them what happened. They didn't have a spare key. They could have called someone at the airport to help us unlock the car, but didn't. They have airport personnel and security, but they shrugged their shoulders and said oh well, it's not their problem. We had the car for one minute and they could not help what so ever. We ended up having to call someone to unlock the car and pay an extra $80! We will NEVER rent from this company again. WORST COSTUMER SERVICE EVER! read more

Rented a car this weekend and was helped by Jumond I want to say this as been one of the best customer service I have received. He was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He genuinely was glad to help. Thank you read more

The worst they will tell you one price at first and then completely change the price when you return car and come up with extra charges and fees asked to speak to a manager they gave me a phone the manager had an attitude and I never spoke to any person in charge in person customer service was bad the whole experience Franklin was horrible The manager was horrible everything I hope the whole business goes under read more

Just rented a vehicle from this Avis location and the customer service was excellent. The Avis representative, Jordan, was friendly and efficient. I had my vehicle in 5 minutes. Vehicle only had 2500 miles on it...basically, brand new. Returning it was a breeze. Literally, done in 1.5 minutes. I read some negative reviews because some reviewers indicated that the rental location was difficult to find. Not sure what the difficulty in locating the office was, but it is just across the street from the terminal. So much easier than having to take a shuttle, like most airports. It's about as convenient as it can be. Thanks Avis! read more

The line to rent a car is longer than the lines at Disneyland. So antiquated. Just give me the dang keys! They could sure use more employees (or hey it's 2017 what about self check-in??), but like most huge American companies are more concerned about profits. read more

Rented a van for my birthday back in April only to be debited $200+ just a week ago for a ticket I knew absolutely nothing about. Well come to find out I didn't have a clue because when this location was suppose to give my info for the department to reach out to me they never did. So due to their lack of response the LBPD just billed Avis who then found it convenient to bill me. I am 2mnths to late to appeal the ticket because once again no one at this location handed over my info to allow them to inform me of the citation. A citation that I've been informed I would've had a great chance of winning. In trying to now receive reimbursement from Avis they are directing me back to this location yet they never answer the phone n expect me to continue driving all the way from Pasadena to Long Beach Airport just to be sent in circles. Went there a week ago because again I had a family member drive in town that I picked up and at that time I spoke with the manager via phone by an employee where he took my info as well as had me write a report yet I have still not gotten any type of response a week later. And that's the main issue. I hadn't even complained about the broken back door the van came with that luckily didn't break off until the last day of me returning it. And when I saw broke I mean came off the hinges n was barely hanging on. Gladly it didn't do so on the highway while driving with all our luggage. Will never go there again read more

One of the worst rental car experiences I've had. We reserved a Chevy Tahoe or similar, got an Enclave which was nice but didn't have child seat buckles built in to attach the car seats for my kids. It's 2019 so I'm surprised it didn't have these. We went into to exchange it & waited in another long line all to get a really dirty dingy looking expedition. It must have just been returned after someone went off roading with it & it def wasn't cleaned inside or out! It was 97 outside so we said forget it let's repack up another car n go. Well we pack up our luggage then look inside n it's food crumbs, sauce or something splattered, liquid spills, & what looks like booger's all over the doors, steering wheel & glove box. Oh & it smelled really bad, not sure what to compare it to but we will def being to go buy some air freshener. At this point my kids are crying cause their hungry & it's hot so I quickly wipe stuff down with baby wipes n we start up the car. Well now half of the AC vents are blowing hot air & one is broken so you can't move the direction of it. So we go to complain again n there was a long line so I said forget it let's just go & we can call hoping they may take some money off of the car, but I highly doubt it. Def frustrating after flying with kids & u just want to get them settled. read more

Not happy with customer service. I'm here picking up at 10am waiting for 20 mins already and they help a 'preferred' customer that was behind me first! Not cool. read more

Nothing bad to say. Got a great deal and a great car for a whole month! Had a slight issue with my reservation (my fault) went in to have it rectified and received AWESOME customer service from everyone I encountered. I usually rent from thrifty at LAX...not no mo! Outrageously over priced and desk clerk laughing and joking with another worker. I had the car for two weeks, am a AAA member and put 101 miles on the car while I had it. Was charged a whopping $850 + with no extras put on the rental agreement. There was no one waiting in line and when I asked for assistance to get my suitcase out of the very SMALL car I was told he could not help yet he could still stand there and process my paperwork all the while playing with his co-worker. I will never use AVIS again and have reported the over priced and shoddy service to AAA read more

All car rentals out of one office here. Service is slow and there is no preferred area to just pick up and go. Again I received a BOAT large car as an upgrade. Out side return staff are very friendly and quick to get you on your way. read more

going on a family trip, do no use avis rent a car, awful experience. rented a car from the long beach airport location. got a car with really bad tires. found rain on the road and the car started hydroplaning. I had to go to the Palm Springs airport to exchange the defective car for another one. The long beach airport location has no lights on the parking lot therefore unable to look at the condition of the car being rented. it is bad to find out the car rented is worse then the daily driver. upon returning the car they charged $55.00 for gas, had to make two calls to have the fee removed. read more

Keep your gas receipt! Dropped the car off before they opened and when I got my credit card bill it was more then double what it should have been. When I called Avis they said I returned the car empty, would not accept my credit card statement showing the Shell Oil charge, said it has to be the original receipt. The fact that the gallons that Avis charged me for did not match the miles driven did matter either. Do they fill their own car with gas and charge it to the night drop customers or do they just don't know what they're doing or just plain dishonest? read more

I have always had great experiences with Avis. Ease of making reservations, picking up my vehicle and good pricing. What really put my experience with Avis LB airport over the top good is that I recently dropped off my vehicle and unaware left my laptop in the vehicle. I was devastated when I realized it the next day. I quickly called them to see if they turned it in to the lost and found and you know what they did. That speaks volumes for integrity and service. Thank you Avis employees for making the right choice and making a worried customer very happy. Kudos and you've earned my business 10 times over. read more

Thanks to Todd Morgan, our company is very pleased with our experience with Avis. He went above and beyond to reassess our needs and provided us with the right vehicle. This enabled us to have a very successful business trip. We are grateful for his professionalism. I also need to add upon returning the vehicle, he made it as simple as possible! I commend him and your company for having streamlined a great process for your customers! read more

I am a loyal Avis customer and have been for many, many years. I am in their Preferred program which makes almost all interactions with them flawless. In my opinion they are the most customer focused company in the USA. The Long Beach Airport outlet exemplifies their best efforts. We had a horrible experience with this location. First off the workers there are all young men that do favors for friends. We rented a car for a friend and put her on the contract only as an authorized driver because she knew someone that worked there, she was able to call her friend and extend the car week after week without our authorization. We called to complain and they gave us the run around and put me on hold for a very long time, time after time. We were told that by allowing an authorized driver we give her the authorization to make changes and extend the car week after week with us knowing. I called corporate, customer service and two other Avis rent a car in our local area and they all say that it is illegal to do so. Boy there is some fishy stuff going on at this location. Bottom line I had to threaten them with legal actions before I got anywhere with them and of course they called they friend that still had the car to bring the car in fast. I would give less than one star but I can't. rented a car to drive back to Colorado while in Colorado the car broke down. Contacted Avis Roadside service they stated to send me a tow truck. after over an hour wait called back to find out that the tow truck was canceled on me with out letting me know or getting another one dispatched. I had to limp the car all the way across Denver to the Airport to get a new one. when I get there the first car they gave me was super smokey so I refused the car because I know as soon as I got back to California they would hit me with the $250 cleaning fee. Denver was not happy about that but did put me in a new car. On the drive back to California out in the middle of nowhere with no radio reception in the car my wife tried to hook up her phone to play music but the radio kept cutting out. After talking to people on the phone they advised that they would have a supervisor contact me in 24 to 48 hours, which never happened. called them back to find out that they never sent the request up the chain in the first place, finally got it sent up the chain just to get an E-mail back that said were sorry let me take one day off the rental. I personally think that sense I did half there job for them I should get half off the bill. NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!!!!!EVER!!!! read more

Third world level service. Slow check in and REALLY SLOW return procedure. Leave yourself plenty of time! I let two people ahead of me because they were about to miss their flights due to slow return process. No one outside at the kiosk to help or do mobile returns. Short staffed. Inadequate signage. Not even free coffee for Preferred. Seriously Avis. You need to step up to the plate at LBG! read more

Horrible! I tried to take uber from the airport but the only option was a black car, luxury or SUV that would be at least $118 for a 15min ride. So I go onto Priceline and they have cars for $30 I assume with taxes and insurance maybe $50 returned the car a day later after being quoted $37 for the second day. Total charges $137 because of a separate fee for the following.. $7.67 taxes, $21.94 energy recovery, $10 late fee, $22 insurance and $10.72 in airport taxes.. this is unethical and a poor business practice for Priceline and Avis.. beware your fees may be more than the actual rental :( read more

Very poor service!! Reserved a standard SUV two days prior and when i got there they're giving me a sedan. Their excuse is because it's spring break and they overbooked. How the f*** they will get overbooked. They shouldn't be taking reservations if they can't provide any in the first place! read more

I think I'm being generous with 3 stars but hear me out. I waited an HOUR AND FIFTEEN minutes in line to get a car. Yep, you read that right - I timed it. I didn't wait that long for any attraction at Disneyland, but apparently Avis wanted to get everyone prepared for the large lines that were awaiting them at the Magic Kingdom. They had 3 people working the computers, so they were at max capacity. However, the manager that did the paperwork for me was excellent. She did not pressure me to buy insurance (smart move with 25+ people in line waiting for cars) and also upgraded me from a compact to a sports car. She earned Avis 2 additional stars for her courtesy and willingness to mkae the situation right. The next time I go to LGB, I will probably not choose Avis, but I won't blacklist them - they're OK if you hit them at the right time of day. read more

Horrible service. Took over 45 minutes to get a vehicle. The 3 men working the counter were clearly not able to keep up with the line... there were only 5 customers ahead of me!!! The other rental companies with only 1 counter person moved faster than these 3 men. This Location has convinced me to never use AVIS again. P.S. the customer in front of me was not able to get his car because he was an hour early for his reservation. I've never experienced that before!!! read more

Great service! I had a terrible experience at enterprise which left me with no car. I was very frustrated to the point of tears, walked across the parking lot to Avis in hopes getting a car at that moment (since my reservation at enterprise didn't go as planned) I wish I got the names of the two that helped me because they were amazing. I walked up with my ten month old baby literally in tears. Explained that enterprises screwed me and I was stranded in 90 degree weather with a baby. They were so nice and so understanding and got me into a car in less than 15 minutes. Thank you Avis for saving me! read more

I give 2 stars because of the scam they pull on your when it comes to a $3.95 convenience fee when you use the transponder provided in car. Plus they add more days to the convenience fee than the days you used the tolls. They figure people won't analyze their bill or take the time to argues it. This place will jam extra charges on you wherever they can. read more

My husband and I booked a vehicle months in advance. We then waited in line over 45 minutes. During that time there were only two attendants working three stations. Other lines such as Hertz, Budget and Enterprise were moving at a very quick pace. While trying to get a car that we will Reserve we was told that Avis will no longer take debit cards well I had a card and I just put the money on the card the guy Chris was so rude and very unprofessional why would you tell your Avis preferred customer I'll go to budget budget take debit cards that's not how you treat your customers you want your customers to keep coming back to you not telling them to go to budget Avis or somewhere else because they take debit cards that's understandable I understand that but he was very unprofessional with that so I will continue but I do not want to deal with the representative Chris anymore read more

First of all if you have to pick up the car and you're not co in to Long Beach Airport it's difficult to find a car rental. We live nearby were picking up a rental car for the week. I'm somewhat familiar with the Long Beach airport but it was difficult to find the entrance for the rental pick up. Once you get into the parking lot there is just about no parking. The bungalows are where all that car rentals companies have their front counter. I walked up to the Avis desk and I kid you not, the guy behind the counter didn't say much to me - not a welcome or thank you. Since I had booked the car previously, I asked if I could return the car a day earlier it. The quick answer was no. I would have to keep it all week. I recall returning a car to Enterprise a day earlier and not getting charged for the extra day, but apparently not with Avis. Apparently I booked with the wrong car rental company. Unfriendly and not too helpful, what more could you want from a car rental company...... read more

I have been using cars rented from Avis and never have any major complains but this particular time we went through in pleasant experience not with the staffs but with the car it self. We rented this car in LA after coming back from Catalina island. We were there for a day. As we hopped in the car and driving it smelled something so strong and "skunky". We did not wanted to jump into conclusion as the smell could have came from along the side of road or something and the smell did not go away. It was hassle to go back and change the car in the LA traffic. My disappointment was the staff should let have let us know as the smell is distinct and pungent. They apologize the next day we returned to the airport but still sorry did not took the unpleasant experience away. A person driving on non smoking vehicle should haven been charged or something. No one should go through this experience specially if one is non smoker like me. Just like they expect us to return their car is good condition, full fuel. We expect them to deliver good service. Hopefully the staffs will be more knowledgeable and won't deceive the customers. read more

I rented from Avis last minute at the airport thru priceline b cause I had no way back home from the airport. Had a pleasant experience at the Avis at the Long Beach Airport. HORRIBLE! I booked online the morning I needed the vehicle. I arrived at the counter and was told that I would have to wait anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. When I questioned this logic, I was told that other people had booked prior to me, and that was just what Avis did. I would have to wait until those other 27 or so customers were serviceed before I could be serviced, because they booked their reservation before I booked mine. My argument was regardless of when I booked, the system allowed me to book the vehicle. As such I should be afforded the opportunity to rent the car. The staff would not waiver from their statement, and instead "allowed"me to book a smaller vehicle at the same price. BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!!! They said they have these smaller cars but we don't have the SUV you book. Horrible customer service, no room for making simple adjustments for clients that are standing in front of them, and I'm extremely dissatisfied. read more

When I arrived I was informed the car I reserved was unavailable and that only a smaller vehicle was available. The employees were matter-of-fact and unapologetic. None of the other rental agencies at the airport had the vehicle I had requested from Avis. Being on vacation with my family I had to take what was available, but I couldn't even get a discounted rate on the vehicle for the trouble. The agents at the other agencies were very helpful and tried to located a comparable vehicle at another nearby branch--that is more than what Avis did. read more
