Appreciate the front desk worker! I didn't catch her name but she did great. She got us in and out in 10 mins. Also pretty sure she upgraded my car for free. I got a freshly washed Telluride. Only 2k miles and it drives so well. Love all the features. Avis was also cheaper than the other airport options. Steve helped me with my rental. My reserved vehicle was t returned yet so he upgraded my vehicle instead. He was fast, courteous, patient and very helpful. There seemed to be a problem with the company I reserved the rental through and he helped resolved the problem. This rental company is open 7 days a week and not too far from my place. I preferred to rent from another establishment, but they're closed on weekends. I'm glad the company I rented it through found Avis-Long Beach. I saw some negative reviews and was apprehensive at first. However, I think it all depends on how many cars were returned already. If the previous renters didn't return the vehicles on time then It would create problems not only for the staff, but for the new renters. read more

This Long Beach office on Ocean Ave stated that extending vehicle one day was no issue and could be extended at the original daily rental rate of $40. I returned the vehicle, office staff asked me to move car to another location which took 45 minutes due to many other customers waiting to pick-up and return. Upon arrival, we were made aware that we were 3rd in line to receive a car and would have to wait for a pre rented, pre paid for car reservation. That wait turned into more than an hour and a half. The car itself was clean and nice. There were additional charges, even after statement when reserved that that was fullpayment/charge. I booked a truck and a car through Avis. At the time I booked the two vehicles the only way I could pick them up was by going to two separate locations at two different times. When I arrived at a Avis, I was greeted by Stella T. Stella was able to modify my rental details so that I could grab the car and the truck at the same time at the current location. Stella's, effort and impeccable. Customer service has made me a repeat customer and I will always recommend her to anyone that needs to move across country. Stella's customer service was the best that I have ever encountered in my life. She is an extremely likable person, smart, efficient, and truly cares about people. This was hands down the worst rental car experience I have ever had. If you are considering renting a car here, RUN. First off, we didn't encounter one single helpful or even happy person here. Everyone who works here was pissed off and refusing to help us every step of the way. Its one thing to be having a bad day, but to push that onto customers on multiple occasions is another thing. Also, because its not an airport location, their car inventory is extremely limited, so we ended up with a significantly smaller car than we reserved. Now for our specific circumstance. We reserved a car under a company discount which we have used several times before with Avis without issue. When I arrived to pick up the car, they said that I was unable to pick up the car, even with my affiliate card and that my reservation needed to be switched to under my husband's name and that he had to come pick up the car and prove his employment; so my husband has to leave work and drive for 40 minutes to come rent the car under his name. We both tried to talk with them about the policy and how the affiliate card allows spouses to rent cars and they said that's against their policy. We asked to see the policy and they kept saying it was based off of conversations that the employer had with corporate but could not provide any actual policy stating this and just kept saying we had to take it up with customer service. So fine, they change the reservation to under my husbands name and rent us a smaller car than we reserved because they didn't have the inventory. They force my husband to show his badge to rent the car, again something we have never experienced before but was a part of this imaginary policy they are unable to produce. As they are changing over the reservation under his name, they asked us if we want roadside assistance, damage coverage, etc and we DECLINE EVERYTHING. Keep in mind this entire time both employees we've been interacting with have had horrible attitudes, zero patience, and a complete unwillingness to help. We finally get the car (again smaller than we reserved) and get out of there. We speak with the company where they let us know that Avis's claims that its the employee only who has to rent the car and that they have to show their badge is both INCORRECT and this was never communicated to Avis. They will be reaching out specifically to this location to educate them on the terms of the company affiliate agreement. Fast forward to today. We go to drop off the car and to our surprise, THE CAR IS STILL UNDER MY NAME. So the whole argument of it needing to be under my husbands name because he's the employee thing was complete BS, he had to leave work and drive down to pick up the car for nothing. On top of that, at some point during the process, they did not decline roadside assistance and said they were unable to take it off the contract because we already drove the car and its too late now and if we have an issue, we again have to take it up with customer service. This is DESPITE THE FACT that we declined all coverage during the original rental and we verbally declined when my husband had to come rent the car. The employee then tries to tell us that we have to pay a premium for gas fill up, where we YET AGAIN explain to them that the company discount allows you to return a car without filling up and get market rate and yet again he tells us that we will have to take it up with customer service. So here we are for a third time having to call customer service because the employees have no idea what is going on, how to do their job, and refuse to help you at all. I cannot recommend enough RECONSIDERING a different location before renting a car here. We will never ever do business here again. read more

I've never been treated so rudely in my life. If everything is fine they are kind, and extremely rude and insulting otherwise. I'm sick. I was a weekly customer behind a week in payment due to a card change. Upon update, THREE charges were sent to my bank and money was placed on hold to cover them. TWO of the holds were released, and one hold was charged by Avis. Then this location closed my weekly contract without notifying me. Almost two weeks later, I'm alerted from a personal cell phone that I am way behind and they would call the police. I called corporate to verify it wasn't a joke and hurriedly cleaned and returned the car. Hundreds in late fees had accumulated and I was charged nearly $1100! When I called, neither agent would hear me. Stella indicated that it's not their problem I have no money and am irresponsible. Both agents talked over me and repeatedly hung up on me. The $1100 went through and the transactions in question would have too if they actually charged the held amounts instead of releasing them. Avis says the agents at this location must issue refunds, and recommended me going in person. I'm disgusted with their treatment, and may go in once I've cooled down. As of now, I have no car, and no remedy. None of this was necessary. Avis lost a weekly customer due to not being able to process payments or communicate issues timely and professionally. Did a extended rental for to use the vehicle for UBER and the first vehicle was obviously a vehicle they would no longer rent to the general public and to top it off it was flea infested. So, I got another vehicle and they told me I could change how they were going to charge me. I changed from credit card to debit card after a week or two on the AVIS app as I was told and they charged my credit card anyways and it went over the limit. Who has enough credit to have $350 a week charged to their credit card? To their credit they did begin to use the debit card (I wonder why). We were greater by a happy gentleman right when we entered. He was quick and friendly and gave us a beautifully cleaner Mazda CX9. Loved the convenience of this rental place being located right on the airports property. Along with the car lot right next to the building practically. Easy drop off as well. Would highly recommend and got a wonderful rate ahead of time. Paid $81 for two and a half days. Can't wait to visit Orange County again and use them for a rental again. read more

I arrived to pick up my car a little early and was told that I needed to wait to have my reservation honored. I don't usually have to wait, but since this is a neighborhood location, I felt pretty obligated. The woman behind the counter told me as I was waiting that there probably weren't any other cars. Enter my anxiety levels. Then she said there was another car and that the guys had to clean it because it came back "nasty, like someone pooped in it" and she didn't want to give me a gross car (thanks by the way- I feel so much better knowing you cleaned it). I went to sit outside and listened as the woman behind the counter talked shit about me to every other customer who came into the lobby. Apparently you're supposed to make reservations 6 months in advance around the holidays. When she finally gave me the car, she yelled at me a few times that I didn't want to listen to her or hear what she had to say. She said that I wouldn't take her apologies (that she never offered). Furthermore, the car she ended up renting me was not the size that I booked (it was a class size smaller). I called to the AVIS customer service and they said I could go to another location and get a different car or take a $10 voucher. Apparently my time isn't worth very much to this company. In the future (because I know you're reading this review) you might want to consider the following: jargon has no place in customer service. Your customers don't care about your behind the scenes troubles like running out of cars or not being able to notify the website to stop renting cars - they want to be treated with respect and assisted in a reasonable manner. I scheduled to pick up a car at Long Beach airport at 9:00am on Friday, June 16th. We were frustrated that we had to wait an hour and a half for a car to become available despite having a reservation. We waited patiently, however, and when our car was ready we proceeded to it. When we were getting the car, the manager Bergani said "can I help you?" in a very hostile and accusatory tone. I explained that I was just getting into the car that I rented and he aggressively stated "well why did you park it there?" I told him I did not park it there. This is where avis parked it. He walked away then came back and stared at us for a while while we got settled in the car. We eventually rolled down the window because he started angrily waving at us. When we rolled down the window he yelled at us to move out of his way so he could pull another car up into the parking spot that we were in. Note, we were in a parking spot, not the road. And he had space to back the other car out another way. He did not ask us kindly, but instead accosted us the entire time. When we told him we were still sitting here because we were setting up the navigation system, he again aggressively told us to move and kept yelling at us until we rolled up the window and stopped responding to him. This is unacceptable behavior especially from a manager. read more

I rented a car from this location after returning from a cruise. It's was cheaper than 'renting from the location by the port. The Uber fair was around $10. The manager was super friendly and was able to give me good directions on getting around Orange county. They also rent moving trucks at this location if this is something that you're looking for. If I could give this a NO STAR I would! I have rented cars from this location previously with no problems. But this time the car was not clean on the outside nor the inside. The inside smelled of wet dog, feet, butt and corn chips. Before heading to my destination I had to stop to vacuum out the excessive pet hair that was flying and buy some Febreeze to knock the smell out, but that didn't stop the fleas from eating me up on my 4hr trip to Las Vegas and back. Before pulling out the lot I was told that the city water shortage laws prevents them from cleaning the vehicles properly. So I was the prime target of fleas which ate my body in various areas. Stella T is the person whom rented me the car and a representative of AVIS for 20 years as she explained when I rented the vehicle. When returning the car today I showed or he representative the flea bites and asked that the vehicle be fumigated. Stella then stopped working with her client to interject into my conversation with the male representative and took over my return. Stella T stated that I drove 600+ miles uncomfortable and that I should've called another Avis while sitting in the middle of traffic on the I15 for another vehicle, after business hours. It was my fault for not calling it in. Stella and then pointed to a small sign that she says all customers should've read before renting the vehicle. Then the next excuse was that she personally cleaned the vehicle and nothing was found, because Avis is an elite car rental company of over 20yrs. Stella also stated that no other person has complained about the vehicle nor any other vehicles from her lot. Stella also stated that she would have to contact previous renters to determine which one had an animal in the vehicle and charge them the $250 cleaning fee. Really? Do you think that I was born yesterday? Who is going to admit to having an animal in the car? Stella then states that she's not sure if it even happened in the car, because she didn't see any fleas... Wow we're not talking about roaches nor flies that are readily visible to the eye on the black carpeting of the vehicle. After a long day of frustration and driving around from Torrance to Long Beach and back looking for someone to rent us a car because Enterprise had allowed us to RESERVE A CAR ON A DAY THAT THEY KNEW THEY WOULD BE CLOSED! We arrived at enterprise first and to my surprise it was closed. Although it was a holiday I guess I should've known but didn't think much of it since they allowed me to reserve and choose that day for pickup. So we began to drive around to different car rental places. They were either closed or open but were charging us a ridiculous amount of money or just wouldn't rent to me because I'm 24 yrs old. One way or another we ended up at Avis/Budget in Long Beach and Stella IS AMAZING. She told us not to worry and that she would do anything she could to make sure that we left with the car we needed for our trip to Texas. When I tell you she did everything she could, she really did and she did it fast! Best part is she worked with my credit limit and my age. I will never rent a car from anyone else ever again.
