I had a bad experience at this Avis location. I'm pretty sure Kay had a fake phone conversation in order to make me wait an extra long time. She also knew very little about the vehicles on the lot. One mentioned ethanol on it and she wasn't able to explain what that meant to me. This location is high priced and they want a large deposit. Worst car rental company I've ever used. I made a reservation, and they didn't have a car for me. (Why take a reservation if you don't have the item you reserve??) Then, they refused to honor the reservation price and tried to up-charge me another $25 a day. My Dad's been a platinum customer with Avis for years, and has never run into this problem even when they don't have the car; every other Avis rental place will honor the reservation price, even if the car is larger than what is reserved. Manager wasn't helpful at all giving me some bs about "it's subject to availability". If you're renting a car in Long Beach, do yourself a favor and go next door to Avis at the Westin and use Budget. read more

Excellent service, highly recommend! I was traveling from out of town and staff went above and beyond to help me problem solve an issue that came up with my flight. They go above and beyond with their customer service. One thing to note is that this location is not located at the airport and there is no shuttle (appx. 10 minute drive) - but the rates are lower and if you stay a few days, you save in the lower rates. read more

Before making my reservation, I researched a lot of different rental car places and chose this one based on reviews. I'm so glad that I did my research because my experience here was excellent! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were told that someone would be right with us. 30 seconds later, Thomas walked in to help me with my reservation. I asked if I could get a specific car, and even though it wasn't clean & ready, rather than tell me it's not available, Thomas immediately went out to help clean the car for us. Last but not least, Thomas got us a great rate w/insurance for our mid-size suv. I will definitely come back for my future rental needs. Highly recommend! read more

Called multiple times - can't seem to reach anyone reliably over the past two days. Been trying to retrieve lost items left in the rental car and can't seem to get an answer on where they might be. Still waiting on a call back from the representative who I spoke with last night who said they'd call me with an update on the items within 20 minutes. The gentleman I managed to get ahold of today referred me to the Santa Ana location's lost and found phone number, whose voicemail is full and who also isn't answering the phone. Santa Ana location is also not answering their phone after multiple attempts. Also, this was the most scratched up rental car I've ever seen. Look closely, and document the scratches and dents or they might try to charge you! They also had the tank at 3/4 when we left the lot and tried to charge me over $50 when I returned the car at 3/4 of a tank. read more

I rented a car from here reserved and paid for it all before picking up. When picking up the car rental the oil was very low. How you expect people to rent out cars with no oil so I switched to similar vehicle and this vehicle was not only dirty but the oil was just the same as the other vehicle smh never renting from them again and I highly advise you NOT to rent from them read more

Avis rep was great! Nice guy and informative! Can't remember his name, but he has a handlebar mustache ! Rented ford 12 passenger; was clean when we received it. I would use this Avis again, given ppl like "handlebar mustache" work there. Gave a 4 not 5 because of poor looking office space! Could use a makeover -place still uses dot matrix printer! This was truly one or the worst customer service experiences I have ever had anywhere!!!!!!!! I was not so greeted by Thomas who simply put, sent me on my way in a car that quickly notified me that the tire pressure was low. Although I was headed directly out of town ( to the mountains no less , especially not wanting to take any chances) I went back to return the car for what seemed to me to be a simple fix. It's your car ( Avis ), so YOU put air in the tire and I'll be on my way . Instead the same miserable guy after checking the tire pressure and saying pretty much yes they are low but it's still ok to drive . Uh hello? excuse me ? Then instead of just airing the tire ,suggested that I ( the customer ) put air in the tire or exchange it at the airport. Accepting no responsibility . I'm going no where near the airport!!! I suggested that since I'm paying for the car that he do it and he pretty much refused saying that it would take ME the same amount of time . I left pissed . Returned the car to the same miserable personality , aired my grievance about my experience and instead off taking any accountability said " Well what do you want me to do about it now." This guy Thomas needs to be doing something other than customer service. Do yourself a favor Avis and find someone that is grateful to have a job. Or at least can represent your company better. All I needed to do was drop off my rental. The agent outside said he could not complete the drop off. So I came inside and the line is super long. Just need to return the car. That's all. I have been standing here for about 30mins and the line has not moved. This is so frustrating. The agent outside could not answer any questions. I was advised that yes, they did have a reservation for me...but no car. For a nominal charge, I could upgrade to a full size SUV. Rented a sweet little yellow mustang for 5 days. Stella was amazing; great customer service, good price, and kept her word. I've had a few issues in the past with rentals but Stella made this trip better than I could have imagined driving a gas saving convertible with all the amenities and completely redeeming my faith in the rental business. I came to Avis back in May after totaling my car and needing a car to rent. I wish I got the gentlemans name who helped me, I believe it was Scott (?) but he deserves 5 stars all on his own because he was great! He gave me such good customer service, I can feel that he genuinely cared about my car accident, he saw that I had minor cuts and bruising on my arm and was sincerely concerned. I just completed a car rental from Stella at Avis in Long Beach (off site from airport). After comparing the cost of car rentals from Avis at LB airport and the cost of car rental from Stella's location, the choice was easy. The cost at the airport was well over $125.00 dollars more expensive than what Stella's location was charging. On arrival at Long Beach I took an Uber from the airport to the Avis located 2165 Long Beach Blvd. total cost for the Uber was about $10.00 dollars. Stella's Avis off site locations can not provide pick up at the airport because there is an Avis office on the airport. However for the cost of an Uber ride, it is well worth it. On arrival my car was waiting for me. Stella clearly takes pride in customer service. I will continue to rent from Stella's Avis location in the future. I truly had a good experience and would like to encourage others to use this location for car rental. Tell Stella that "Woo-So" (that means mustache in Cantonese) that Paul recommended you visit her location. read more

I rented a car for a month . My credit card was charged and Avis was paid , one month and a half later I find out they have charged an additional $100.00 to my credit card without my authorization , the same day I receive a collection letter from Avis for almost $600.00 claiming they were never paid . I verify with the credit card company that they were indeed paid almost $1000.00 as agreed . I call to the original renting agency and speak to the manager , who acts as if she is being put upon and does not want to assist with this situation . Her big reaction is that you returned it to the airport , which is not an issue with any car rental company I tell her fine.. see you in court , I'll sue you. She calls back and threatens me with the police . The district supervisor calls with a genuine attitude to resolve this overcharging issue . Every time I have been in this agency the attitude is that they are doing you a favor . Take my advice , go to a more professional agency ,hopefully you will find one with a higher intelligence level . Do not use these people. UPDATE ... Somewhere, somehow, some one tacked an additional 10 days onto the rental , which was not the case . I returned it Dec. 9 , the receipt shows this . BEWARE read more

We recently travelled to Long Beach from Washington State. The prices to rent a car at the airport were excessively high, so we looked for a location away from the airport. Stella, the owner of this Avis location, was awesome! She was extremely friendly and welcoming and made sure we had a car with great air conditioning, as it was very hot during our stay. We did not have to wait in any lines and our car was ready when we arrived. We had the car for a week. When we returned the car, Stella was there and the process was quick and very smooth. We travel often to CA and will now always consider renting from this location first. We were able to have a friend drive us over from the airport, but we could have easily taken an Uber there. We highly recommend this Avis location. read more
