Had to stop renting from here after really awful treatment from corporate. I had a lock-out and called Avis Roadside Assistance, they sent someone to help me in about an hour and had good communication while waiting (text message updates and follow-up call). Then a few weeks came the surprise: a $55 charge on my card with no explanation. Called corporate and was told they didn't see any charges and would reverse it once I sent my credit card statement. Spent a long time giving them the past months of rentals (I rented weekly) to make sure there wasn't an explanation - but was told it must be an error. After calling to see if my fax was received a different person said it was a valid charge from ERS - Avis Roadside Assistance. I was beyond frustrated, I explained: A. I had not been told of any charges and would have simply called AAA FOR FREE if I had known this would cost me B. That their own rep did not understand how to find the charge, that he had stated it would be refunded as it was invalid and had me get my credit card statement C. That I had rented EVERY WEEK for 20 months in the past TWO YEARS from them and was expecting some understanding as an a very loyal customer. I got a "too bad for you" type email in return. Honestly, refunding the $55 as a one-time courtesy could have easily satisfied me as a customer and would have been a no-brainer against the thousands I as one person was spending with Avis. Even giving me a $25 credit or a discount off a future rental, etc., would have sufficed, simply an acknowledgment of how frustrating this experience was and some gesture to show that Avis cared about its customers. I'm disappointed because I love this location and it's staff but this experience left me feeling deceived and swindled. read more

One reviewer has posted that this is a "normal car rental company" and I would like to respectfully disagree. I have gone to several rental car agencies in my lifetime and I now go out of my way (15 miles out of my way) to rent from this location. The prices are unbeatable especially if you book online in advance. My most recent rental was for 9 days and cost me $190. I even got an upgrade. I'm wavering between 3 and 4 stars. I went through Costco and was able to get a compact car for 7 days for $118.00. I went in to pick up my car, and the guy working seemed a little puzzled. I asked what was wrong and he said your car isn't here. Well, that's not good. A gentleman was pulling up to return his car so he told me, congrats, you'll get an upgrade. Yes, the car was bigger, but the car was just returned. It had bird poop all over, the inside was dirty, the guy before me left his bowl and trash, and the car only had 3/4 of a tank. I was given the option to get the car washed, meaning, I would take the car to get washed. I was travelling out of state and wanted to get on the road since I had already spent some time waiting for my car. I was concerned because nothing was checked, the fluids, tires, etc. The car worked fine, it was a dirty car and I had to stop to fill up the tank before I left. I returned it a day early because they close at 2pm on the weekends. I expect with a reservation that the car I reserve is there, clean, checked out and ready to go. I don't expect somebody elses car that was just returned and dirty as heck. read more

Had an amazing experience. I was completely disappointed with enterprise rent a car in Buena Park and Avis in cypress saved the day and was cheaper than that piece of crap store in Buena Park. Avis Cypress saved the day! I was visiting family in Long Beach but flew from LAX. Southwest reserved my car rental at LBC Airport. Unbeknownst to me, a requirement for renting a vehicle from the LBC Airport location is a flight number directly from any of the airlines at LBC Airport. I was very upset that I was not informed of this important information. Called nearby Avis' around and Cypress was my 2nd call. Talked to the gentleman there and he was able to give me a great deal on a mid-size vehicle for 2 days. He was understanding to my situation, he listened to my banter and provided great customer service. And they gave me a free upgrade too! I would rent from them again any day when I visit home. This place is the best rental car location I have been to in a long time. I worked with Janet on pick up and Tony on return. Both extremely nice and helpful. I received a really new Nissan that looked great and got awesome mileage. Pick up and drop off were very fast. Gas station is right next door. Price was better than all the other rental companies I looked at. Lastly, they helped me out with a drop off to where my car was being repaired. Basically all the things I wanted - fast excellent service, friendly staff, a fantastic car, and the best price. I'll be back here again for future rentals. read more

I needed to rent a car for the weekend and decided to go with Avis since I had rented from them once before and they are so close to my house. We rented a compact car and got a good rate online for 4 days. We arrived at the location and were helped by Chris who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He rented us the car and got us on our way quickly. The car ran great, got fantastic gas mileage and was perfect for what we needed. I was extremely impressed by Chris and the service we received from him and will only be renting from this Avis location in the future. Yash & Tony are absolutely wonderful!!! They always greet me with a genuine smile and make sure I'm 100% satisfied before exiting. This morning (Friday), I called Yash and he recognized my voice and guaranteed me he'd have a car for me this afternoon...although he was currently sold out. Here getting a rental for a long journey and the girls are just so short and rude with questions or answers. The car isn't the same one that I requested, but they did adjust my charges to the car I got. They tried to sell me on their insurance but I had already got insurance from Kayak when I made reservations. Keep in mind, the parking lot is super tiny and tight. This place was kind of hard to find too. I picked up a car but when I drove off I realized the alignment was off because the steering wheel was jerked to the right when I was trying to drive straight. I called back to let them know and the girl on the phone was talking to me like it was my fault! I exchanged cars without a problem once I got back there. They really are a nightmare! read more

This rent a car place is a little in need of staff. I came to rent a car and customers were outside waiting on their vehicles. I get to the counter and my vehicle was there with no gas and not cleaned out. I had to go to there carwash with one of their employees wait for car to be detailed and take the employee back to the Avis office, are u kidding me. The guy that waited on me uniform was super wrinkled and he looked tired but he at least was trying. He took $10 off for my troubles, what a joke. I spent an extra hour doing their job. My car rental pickup was at 10am on a Friday and I was out of there in a few minutes since I was first in line. Anna gave me great suggestions on which car to pick and Janet went out of her way to assist me. Customer service was excellent and extremely helpful with both of them at the counter. Janet was nice enough to walk through the car with me to make sure everything was okay and made me comfortable by answering all my questions and concern. I was blessed with a Toyota Sienna which helped save on gas. When I dropped the car off, Janet was also there to assist everyone when it got busy, including myself in orderly fashion, which was quick and easy. After I dropped off the car, I had an honest concern and Janet took care of it right away so I can be on my way to my next destination on time. No worries! I will definitely come back to rent again from this place. I highly suggest taking a walk through with the car first and take pictures so you are not responsible for someone else's damage that could easily be overlooked. My family and I do multiple roadtrips throughout the year so I am used to a certain level of cleanliness when we rent a car. Right away, I saw popcorn under the seat and some change, and the sides were not properly cleaned. Also, without telling us, they charges us an entire extra day all because we picked up the car at 9 and they said we will not return it until noon. We asked them why we were charged an extra day and apparently the 3 hour difference meant an entire day charge so we told them, dont worry we will return it before 9 am on the day it was due so cancel the extra day. It would have been nice for them to not try to not assume we will return it an noon and slip an extra day in there. Probably not coming back here again. read more

On the way back from Vegas we got caught in traffic right before closing time, fortunately enough Yash was nice enough to wait for us to drop it off on Easter Sunday. Why bother with a reservation? We showed up to pick up the car rental when the lady at the front desk informed us that she actually didn't have any cars available until 1030am. As we are waiting she's on the phone informing someone else through her personal phone that she doesn't have any cars but once she gets one she'll text her...really? We ultimately took our business to Alamo where we didn't have any issues and got into a car in a timely manner. read more

This location is a car rental place for Avis and Budget. We rented twice last week from them and were delited. Andrea and Janet made our experience very pleasant. Both times the cars were very recent and I enjoyed driving them. They are located in a small plaza and don't have much parking space but that didn't cause any trouble to us. I wish I knew about this place sooner because all this time I was renting cars from Hertz. Don't get me wrong, Hertz has decent prices, but Avis still beats them out. In my recent experience with Avis, the car was clean, customer service was awesome, and they worked with me to give me a good deal. Additionally, what I like is that you can save more money if you pay in advance online for the reservation. Their prices and services are typically better than Hertz and Enterprise. Be sure to cancel your reservation ahead of time if plans change. I had a weekend reservation and forgot to cancel. Not only did they bill me for the weekend, but added an extra week of rental! Called their customer svc line, and they referred me to the AVIS preferred desk at LAX. 3 phone calls and no one would pick up the phone. Disputing the charge with my credit card company. Understand not cancelling the reservation isn't cool, but things happen. Being charged more than double for original reservation for not cancelling isn't so cool. Will definitely start using my companies other rental car provider from now on. read more

I have rented several cars from this location and the first 2 times it was a great experience. However, the last 2 were terrible. Customer service people are rude and the cars are dirty. The last time I picked my car up, I had to take it to their car wash and have it cleaned. It was filthy. The girl working NEVER apologized for the inconvenience! I had even mentioned that my last car was not clean when I picked it up.Also, when I returned my car there was no one there and 3 people waiting to pick up or return a car. If it were possible to give it negative stars I would. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD, HANDS DOWN. We visitied the cypress location after being given a car with no AC at the LAX location. We repeatedly called the cypress location and no one answered, so we called the reservation number for avis. The representative on the phone told us to head to the cypress location and that they would trade our car out for a comparable car. When we got there, no one was there. There was a sign saying that they would be back at 1:25, and it was 2:15. Finally, a woman named Janet showed up, told us that they had no cars for us, and that they would not be dealing with us because we didn't have a reservation. We told her we were sent by Avis to that location and she told us repeatedly that we were wrong, and that they didn't have to help us. She proceeded to laugh at us when we got frustrated, and told us to get out of her store, and continued to talk about us to other customers waiting. This whole thing is unacceptable and I am currently in the process of filing a complaint with Avis. We are still in the process of working out a trade on our car six hours later. Horrible service. Never again will we do business with this location and I highly encourage others to steer clear of them!!! I will be contacting the better business bureau as well. read more

After parking the car 1/2 mile away at home,she notice a small crack on the windshield. she called it in after little over 1 hour later and they said it was fine. When we return the car they called and said they have to make a claim with our insurance. I explained the situation but the manager told me he will sue me and just being an jerk. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS LOCATION. They are extremely shady, will overcharge you, and the desk agents are EXTREMELY RUDE. THIS LOCATION SHOULD BE AUDITED FOR FALSE ACCOUNTING PRACTICES. This review is for Budget & Avis because the agents at the Cypress locations wear both hats. List of complaints about this location: 1. FALSE REPORTING OF ODOMETER MILES: We reserved and prepaid for an economy car online through the budget website. When we went to pick up the car (Chevy fiesta hatchback), they did a look-around to write down the mileage, gas, etc. Just as we were about to pull out of the lot, I noticed that they had written down several hundred more miles than what was actually on the odometer. We re-parked and went inside to have this changed and they shooed us off saying that we had unlimited miles, so it wasn't something we needed to worry about. 2. POORLY MAINTAINED FLEET AND POOR SERVICE: When we started the car back later that evening on our trip, we saw that the maintenance light and the TPMS lights were turned on. We called the Cypress location to get the car switched and we were told that they didn't have a car on the lot, so we needed to call a different location to get another car. We called 2 other locations -- one in Anaheim and another in Fullerton -- and were told that they were sold out due to the holidays. We called customer service/roadside assistance and were told A) not to worry about the maintenance light, that Budget has their own maintenance cycle and B) to go to Long Beach where they had 1 car available. I told them to please ENSURE that they kept that car on hold for us because I did not want to drive all the way to Long Beach only to find out that they did not have a car available. The agent assured us that he would keep that car on hold. (Also I should mention that it seemed strange that we were told not to care about the maintenance light coming on... I don't care what special maintenance cycle you have on your cars, I shouldn't have to worry about ANY lights coming on the dashboard.) We drove 30 minutes to the Long Beach location and when we arrived, we were told that they had nothing left and that they had been on their shift the whole time and had never received a call about the car. We told them our story and the agent finally relented and talked to one of the Avis agents to get a car from their fleet. FALSE CODING/FALSE FEE CHARGES AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE: The pre-payment charge was $148.71 for 8 days. After we returned the car (on-time, no issues, and with a full tank of gas), I noticed that they we were being charged an extra $16.52 as a net payment. After our bad rental experience, I absolutely did not want to pay a penny more than what I had agreed to pay. I asked the agent at the desk (Trevor) about the extra charge since the car was returned on-time in good condition, etc. and he took an attitude with us saying that the numbers added up. I told him yes, I know how to do basic math, but I want to understand why I am being charged more than what I agreed to pay. We went back and forth a number of times and he kept insisting that we call customer service about the extra charge and gave us their number. I wish I could upload a photo of the phone number he wrote down, but it was rudely underlined with exclamation marks. We called customer service and the agent told us that for some reason we were being charged a weekly base rate that was higher than what we originally agreed to. She took off the charge and I asked her to document everything I had told her and have this location looked into. Essentially what this tells me is that this location keys in a higher base rate than what you originally agreed to, and unassuming customers who do not check their receipt will end up paying extra. THE BOTTOM LINE: After this experience, I am never renting a car from Budget/Avis. The Cypress location should be audited for false accounting/coding. It is not worth the headache to go through this on your vacation and not know what you are being charged for. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY. read more
