My experience with Avis car sales was not 5 stars but 10 stars. After purchasing my Jeep at Avis I was so impressed by their customer service I asked the general manager if I could write a letter to the "higher ups" of the company to express my great satisfaction. He asked if I would leave a review online instead. Though my review is a little lengthy, I wanted to share the details on why I think that Avis is an exceptional example of customer service. I was looking for a new used car and went to many dealerships before my husband told me about Avis. The salesperson who helped me was Hugo Ochoa. He was extremely informative, friendly and especially patient. I know that I am very anal, meticulous and admittedly can become a pain in the ass especially when making a large purchase. He never expressed any annoyance but only a willingness to make me happy with the car that I wanted. I couldn't have asked for a better person to help me. Never dismissive and no pressure sales like the other dealerships. I told him that I needed to bring my mother back to see if she could comfortably get into the Jeep SUV because the step up was somewhat higher than a regular car. All I needed to do was give them a fully refundable $500 deposit to hold the car. He warmly welcomed us both back and we test drove the car. I still wasn't sure about the car and I met with the finance person to get the details on the price and information on the finance charges. He told me that he would get back with me with the information. During these visits, the general manager, Caleb Ewart warmly introduced himself and expressed that he was here to answer any questions that I might have. When I test drove the Jeep, I had heard some "interesting sounds" and I wanted to bring it to my mechanic to get the car inspected. Caleb allowed this and told me to bring it back by the end of the day. Now, I ask you, what other dealership would do this? None, that I know of. Again, another example of great customer service! I brought it to my mechanic and there was nothing wrong with it except that it needed new wipers, a cabin air filter, the third row headrest was broken and it needed a good cleaning. I received the information on the interest rate and went home to research a better deal. I called Hugo and told him that I got a better interest rate. He told me that he would speak with Caleb, the general manager to see if he could get something even better. Caleb called back shortly and got an even better rate. I told him that I saw a price decrease on the car on another website and he told me that he had already lowered the price to match it. He didn't have to do this and be so honest unless I had brought it up. But he did it on his own. What other dealership would do this? None that I know of. Avis did! I came back with my husband to buy the car. A football game was on TV and they offered us pizza. I declined, but my husband enjoyed the food and unexpected camaraderie. Have you ever heard of a car dealership doing this? Another example of great customer service. Everything was fixed in the Jeep except the headrest and they gave me a voucher that as soon as I brought it back to them, they would take it to the Jeep dealership to get it fixed and would give me a loaner car during that time. The finance person was out that day and Caleb handled all the paperwork and contracts. I had a zoom meeting with the car warranty person and he explained everything in detail answering my hundred questions with loads of patience. I was very satisfied and bought the extended warranty. During my numerous visits at the dealership I had shared with Hugo that I had a dog that sheds a lot. He suggested that I buy seat covers and that he would put them on for me. This dealership continued to go above and beyond what was expected of them to ensure that I had a great experience. What other dealership does this? None that I know of. Well, today I assisted my G-Girl in looking for a car. Who knew I would happen upon such a great salesperson and manager?? Professional and personable, they made us feel comfortable and not pressured. The places we went to before (look for my other reviews) made us feel #1 uncomfortable #2 dumb #3 taken advantage of . Lloyd and Nicole where just kind and thoughtful and personable. They didn't make us feel like we were two women trying to buy a car... they treated us with respect and understanding. We bought a nice car and left knowing that we weren't taken advantage of and that we were given a fair deal. I will go back to them to purchase another car. Part of The sales experience was good. We met with Ron with whom we had been in contact with via internet. We were able to secure the car with a deposit. The car was one of the lowest in the nation so we were excited to pick it up. We met Ron in person and he was a very well seasoned salesperson. He knew what he was talking about, shared valuable tips and answered all questions we had. We did not feel rushed. He gets a 4 star . The second portion of our sales experience was lost. We did not get our registration nor license plate for over 5 months. After the first month followed up with a few calls to see what was going on. The finance guy Tony is who we spoke with. He said we needed to send specific documents that were not initially required per the signed sales agreement. So we printed out, signed, and FedEx'd the said documents. The documents were received the next day. We followed up yet again and Tony said that he was in the process of submitting the paperwork to the DMV and that we should have our plates within the month. That never happened. So we waited another 2.5 months before we went to the local DMV to see what the hold up was. We explain what has happened on our behalf and the DMV lady pulls out a license plate, and registration sticker on the spot! I was like DAMNNNN! Boy was I thrilled. So, 5 months later I finally have a license plate and registration. BOO to AVIS and especially Avis in Pompano, Fl. DON'T DO IT!!!! The good news is the car is still on the lot the following month and lowered the price to closer to what we would have paid - LOL!! Loan agreement purchase and sale From: Mr. S To: aviscarsales@avisbudget.com I'm not sure if this email will make any difference and if it will even be received but our experience with trying to buy a vehicle from the Pompano Avis Car Sales was horrible and unprofessional. We would never buy a car from Avis and your sales team should be ashamed of their unethical tactics. I will do my best to make this clear and concise: I have been working with a Salesman named Joe ODonnell and a Finance manager named Michael Asmar (Tony). At first, they came across as professional and dedicated. After hours of test driving and looking at various vehicles on December 19, we decided on the 2021 Jeep Compass Limited 4x4 SUV. (VIN# 3C4NJDCB2MT604441 Stock Number# 97737032). I was purchasing this for my daughter (they tried to use that against me). Joe brought out a basic contract with the final numbers. I removed the "Seamless Paint" option of $799. We do not need it. Just a ridiculous fake charge of nothingness. After another hour, and ready to purchase using your finance group (Capital), we were ready to sign. After Tony went through every other piece of paperwork, he saved the contract for last and threw back-in the $799 under a different name. I told him that we removed it, and he knew that we did because I hand wrote on the first contract crossing out that fee and backed out the $799 writing in the correct amount of $24777.21 (I attached the email chain from Joe showing the contract to Avis). Tony acted like it was news to him and he said it was not optional then called Joe into his office stating how could he make this mistake and Joe just played along stating this was his mistake and so sorry. I said if you cannot remove it, we will leave. They did not remove it. The following morning, December 20, Joe called me and said he was sooooooo sorry, and they would honor the price without the $799. I thanked him and asked him to send me the email me the contract so I can take a look at it prior to driving back 2 hrs. Photo was attached to Avis. I replied to the email with the correct price of $24,777.21. I did clarify that I do not need financing and will just give a certified check for the total amount. But before I drive back, I need a reply to my email agreeing to this. Two days later, December 22, later I got another email from Joe but this one from the Avis email (joe.odonnell@pompano.aviscarsales.com) , not his personal that he had been corresponding with me previously on... autojoe1963@gmail.com (questionable reasons for using a personal email and not the Avis email?) saying the basic non purchase response..." if there are any other questions, just let them know...". I responded again stating I could be there the following day, December 23, as I will be driving to the airport to pick up a friend but need Joe or Tony to agree to the $24,777.21 in a cashier's check. I did not hear back until a December 27 asking if I had any more questions. I decided to call Joe and get clarification as again as I will be dropping off a friend at the airport.  At this point, everything changed to texting (photos attached as Joe said he is going to text me a photo of the final contract). As soon as we hung up, I sent him a photo from his email to me with the final contract price. His reply was "Sorry, can't do that nevermind" then followed by another text "Oh that must've been from another car because that includes seamless paint and that car was never that price..." All of this was a waste of time for everyone... Completely unprofessional and lack of character and ethics. One of the main reasons I would not pay their hidden garbage fee as they purposely did not take a photo of the right tire rim as it was scratched up heavily costing $650 to replace. I took my time to put this email together to give you solid constructive feedback. I hope you utilize this information to make the positive and ethical changes that are needed as well as respond to my email.  Your employees made buying a car a horrible experience with stupid unnecessary games. I can't figure out why they would not want to sell a vehicle, especially the day we were on the lot, we were the only potential buyers that entire day (at least between 11am and 4pm). But after doing some basic internet search on Avis Car Sales Reviews, sadly, these tactics seem to be part-of-the-norm of your staff and perhaps just the culture there. Just review Yelp and Facebook. In the shady, shady, shady world of used car sales, Avis Car Sales shines with mediocre intensity as a beacon of hope. I recently found myself without a car, after getting into an accident. My insurance gave me a rental car, so that I would have time to buy a new one. I wanted a very specific Chevy Malibu, and was having a hard time finding it for the price that I wanted. I went to at least 10 different dealerships. All of them were extremely shady. Avis was one of the first ones I visited, and I did not buy right away because the salesman, Mauricio, tried to give me the wrong auto-check information while I was on the phone with my loan company. When I spotted the mistake, Mauricio apologized and returned with the auto-check for the correct car. It had some damage that was repaired. I inquired about another car, without damage, in Orlando. They told me I would have to put down a non-refundable $500 deposit, sight unseen. Given the circumstances, there was no way I was going to do that. I visited 8 or so more dealerships, each one of which attempted to deceive me with even worse tactics. You wouldn't believe the scams that people tried to pull on me. I finally gave Mauricio a call, and asked what they had in stock. The sale itself went down without any difficulty or unnecessary time. I drove out with my new car within 40 minutes or so. I found out that one of the rear seat belts had a tear after a month or so, and called in. I spoke with Edwin and Mark. Both of whom were extremely helpful. They even went out of their way to acquire a new seat belt for me, and convince the Tires Plus guys next door to install it for free. Overall, it was a good experience. If you come back 3 days later they're still on the lot. It's just bait and switch. The salesman was friendly and helpful. Purchased a car here. They were easy going and seemed like a solid place to buy a car from. They then delayed my paperwork with the bank for 2 full months... I called in weekly asking why I haven't gotten any info from the bank about my loan and was told they were working on it and just to give it time before finally being told that they needed additional proof of residency which I submitted that and was told could take a couple weeks. I was guaranteed EVERY SINGLE TIME that it didn't matter, I wouldn't be late on payments until everything had been submitted and I would receive my first bill. It's now well over 2 months later and guess who just got his first statement saying he's a month past due and effectively owes $1,000 or he's screwed? Yup this guy. I called the dealership and they promised that they knew they messed up and not to worry about the first payment. They "made it for me" because they wanted to make sure I was okay financially and urged me to ignore it. Well guess who just called the bank and found out that was a lie also? Yup, this guy. Called Avis back and the finance manager acted shocked as if he couldn't believe his ears that I had proof he had not done what he promised he did. He guaranteed me that he would be calling in the morning to make the payment so I guess I'll update this at that time. Avis. A pleasant car buying experience. Troy was excellent! He's honest, answered all my questions, and overall was very helpful. And Mark, the sales manager, made me feel very comfortable with the paperwork throughout the buying process. They have a large selection of used vehicles but they're very different from traditional car dealers. There is no selling-pressure and everyone is very accommodating. The prices are fixed and given up-front, so there's not much room for negotiating, but I think that is a very positive thing. They do charge a $600 "Dealer fee" and a $55 "Electronic Registration Fee", but that's actually not a lot of extras compared to some other car dealers. If you work with them (and maybe catch them at the end of the month?), they may be able to reduce those extra fees a little bit, depending on the vehicle. But basically, you know what the price is going to be exactly, and that works for me. They can also process financing right there. If you have your own financing or if you want to pay cash, it must be paid with a Cashier's check. They do not accept personal checks or cash. Their excellent customer service, and a reasonable price on the car I wanted, convinced me to buy from them. I agreed to bring the payment the next day. I cannot begin to express how great this car buying experience went. 1st and foremost, Rachel was incredible in all aspects, from her personality, patience and willingness to help!!! The car was just as advertised, it was clean, wash and detailed for my test drive, which is a change from other dealers where the car is as-is. They definitely went out of their way to make sure I was driving a "clean" car. 2nd, they took care of everything, including replacing all 4 tires which were worn down, cleaning up minor scratches, oil change and doing a full detail (at no addition cost), and lastly, their customer service was out of the world!!! Buyer beware hidden fees. They were super nice and professional at this dealership, and I thought we would buy from them for sure. However, after we decided to shop for financing, they added 3 unheard of fees to the price. The sales person got angry and rude when we started asking about these undisclosed fees. He basically said take it or leave it and walked away. These additional dealer fees are not disclosed anywhere on their website. In fact, the website says you can count on the price they show you plus applicable taxes and registration. Of course we expected to pay these normal fees and perhaps a reasonable document fee (which is usually negotiable). However, they threw on a $799 dealer fee (as if Avis doesn't make enough profit buying these cars in bulk and getting manufacture rebates). They also added a $299 document fee and a $499 paint insurance fee. The kicker is that they insist that they have already applied a clear coating to the car and so you can't refuse to pay this fee because the protection has already been added! However I believe any improvements to the car prior to us selecting it have to be included in the sales price. When we said we did not need the protection, the sales person insisted that they would have to order a different more expensive car for us which did not have the "clear magic coating" already applied. Now you tell me why a car without the coating would be more expensive! We were ready to close on the car because it seemed like a good value, but not with $1,500 in surprise fees (not including taxes and registration)! The initial sale associate we spoke with was very nice, hence the two stars. read more

We just purchased a car from Avis Sales in Pompano yesterday and had a (surprisingly) excellent overall experience. I had been shopping online for nearly two months and over the last two weeks we visited about 6 dealerships. We had a pretty good idea of what we were looking for and price ranges. What we found was that most of the well priced cars at the big dealerships were originally rental cars. That's when we focused on looking at Hertz and Avis thinking we were cutting out one layer of the profit. Hertz in West Palm was great (esp Wes) but they didn't have what we were looking for. (Note, we were not impressed with the one in Pompano). We decided to go one block away to Avis. The dealership sure looked a whole lot nicer and while that may not particularly matter, it just felt better. The salesman Kevin was great. He was just the right mix of doing everything possible to get the deal done without being pushy. We agreed on a 2018 vehicle with 35,000 miles - just enough to get it in the shop while still under warranty. I almost gave the review 4 starts because we were not impressed with the finance department (Tony). Nice enough guy and accommodating to our needs, but his style is not as upfront and straightforward. All in all I would buy from Avis Car Sales in Pompano again without a doubt. read more

I had stopped at there facility after a bad experience with Ed Morris Cadillac on federal highway trying to buy a car there, and with all the extra fees that later showed , up cut ties with them. Amazing ! I just bought a car from Avis Car Sales in Pompano last week and I was shocked at how painless the process was. The process was seamless because the whole Team from the manager, sales person and finance department was great. A class service from the Theo, the sales rep who helped me out. There was none of that pushy over suggestive business. I told him what I was looking for. He checked his inventory for cars within my budget, and in no time I had found what I wanted, I was out of there is less than 2 hours !
