I brought my car in to get the back brakes and rotors replaced, and they did an amazing job -- all in just one overnight stay. When I picked up my car, it felt like it was floating down the road -- smooth, solid, and just perfect. The price was very reasonable, especially for the quality of work and speed of service. I came to this place after going to 2 different mechanics who quoted me over $1k to replace my AC compressor. He could've done the same and made a huge profit but instead he found the leak, sealed it, and saved me several hundreds of dollars. I was able to stand next to him as he was working on my car. He's not scared. He explained everything he noticed and walked me through exactly what he was doing. Stuff you only hear about from people who take their BMW in to the million dollar mechanic so I thought that was a huge plus. Very cool and fun experience. The mechanic & owner of this shop is super cool. You can tell when you talk to him that he's an honest hard working man. Mechanics nowadays just want to replace & not fix. He gave me a discount but overall, i spent thousands of dollars and wasn't able to get reimburse for my expense for the towing. Some guy from a dealership tried to interrupt and put himself ahead of everyone else, but Avis was very professional and repeatedly told the dealer that he has a order of customers that he is following. I came into Avin's shop with my 2005 Mercedes, check engine light was on which prevented me to pass smog. Avin was recommended to me for diagnostics. Talking to Avin, he is knowledgeable and easy to work with. I felt very comfortable with leaving my car with him. Avin calls me the next day and informs me of what maintenance was needed (engine misfire - spark plugs were corroded and ignition coils showed damage from moisture) and gave me a quote. I gave him the green light to proceed. I was able to pick up my car the next day. With smog issues, we reset the system and needed to finish a drive cycle. As I drove the car, I knew I finished a cycle because the engine light came back on. As I had Avin look at the car again. No more misfire code so, we are making good progress! Avin deduced a couple more components to check and found that my engine coolant temp sensor needed replacement. Again with the quick turnaround, picked up my car the next day and drove another full tank of gas. No check engine, brought it back to Avin and I was so happy to finally pass smog! I've previously taken my car to a mechanic in Hayward I've visited frequently past 2 years and he saw my misfire code and quickly referred me to the dealer. It was very unsettling to hear that. I would have spent 3-4x as much as what Avin charged me. I am super happy to have been recommended to Avis Auto Repair! I have been going to Avis for all my car needs long before Avin (owner/mechanic) took over the business from Azahu Auto Repair. Avin is honest and a straight shooter kind of guy who will tell you if the car part needs to be repaired or replaced or still good and be left alone. I brought to him my 2000 Accord V6 which I knew that the catalytic converter was stolen (park on the street and sounded loud /noisy when I started it one morning). I told Avin to order me the catalytic converter so I can have it changed. I left the car in his shop early morning and after lunch, Avin gives me a call with the good news that the part was still there and that the thieves only cut off a part of the exhaust pipe but never proceeded to steal it. He sends back the new catalytic converter which he showed me which could have cost me a lot of money. and only charged me for the labor in welding it all back. read more

The original quote (included more jobs) was CHANGED and was INCREASED by atleast $300! The amount of work and number parts used were LESS than that in the original estimate. Owner said original estimate was MISCALCULATED. I was also shorted in engine Oil. Owner said we put oil based on manufacturer specifications. But oil dipstick indicated otherwise. I was told to to buy oil myself and fill it. Will never take my car there again. Feel like I was cheated big time. read more

Well, on Saturday I was running around doing some errands and thought that I would stop in to see if they could do a smog check for me. They did and I passed and 30 minutes later I was on my way. I was so excited that we had just found a reliable auto repair shop! Yeah - if they ever got a second to see our car! I had called on a Weds to make an appt with them for Saturday. I was told by the "wife' that no appt was needed and to come in at 1 pm. Sure enough I went in right at 1pm and was told I couldn't be seen! She said "you should have come earlier" --she TOLD me to come in at 1pm originally! Now she tells me to come in on Tuesday! Anyway, we thought, no problem we'll come back on Tuesday (we really needed to get our car looked at on Saturday since we are busy M-F). This time on Tuesday we called at 8.30 am to see what time was good. They told us to come in by 9.30am. We arrived at 9.30 and we're told that they're busy so come back at 11 am. SO as frustrating as that was, we drove back home and called back at 11 am, they told us they're busy so come at 2 pm. WHAT THE HECK!!!! These people must not want our business!!! They were highly recommended by a friend and it seems some yelpers like them, but seriously!! They need to get their business together.
