I booked a vacation to Montreal this past week to celebrate my 57th birthday, and as part of that celebration, I treated myself to not one--but two spa days. My first was at Spa Diva and left me with mixed feelings (you can find that review separately). Wanting to end my trip on a high note, I did a bit more research and booked my second spa experience at Avie Spa, newly relocated inside the Marriott Humaniti Hotel--and I'm so glad I did. I booked an indulgent lineup of services: Signature Advanced Facial (with extractions and massage), 60-minute CBD Therapeutic Massage, 60-minute Reflexology session, Salicylic Acid Peel, and finally a Head and Scalp Oil Massage. From the moment I arrived, the experience felt thoughtful and intimate. The spa is beautiful and serene, and I was offered lemon water or hot tea upon check-in. My appointment included a locker and robe. Unfortunately, the robe was far too small--barely covering me--so I had to keep my leggings on to preserve everyone's dignity. This was genuinely the only disappointing part of the entire experience. I truly wish spas would prioritize size inclusivity. A larger robe is always better than one that's too small--full stop. What I didn't expect, but absolutely loved, was that my entire 3-3.5 hour appointment was with one practitioner: Alysia. No moving from room to room. No rotating staff. Everything happened in one beautifully prepared space, and the flow was seamless. From the moment I met Alysia, I felt deeply cared for. The room was softly lit, the massage table was wonderfully warm, and the added memory-foam topper made it feel incredibly luxurious. Everything--from her hands to the oils--was warm, grounding, and calming. The CBD massage was phenomenal, and what impressed me most was how she integrated all of the treatments so naturally that it never felt like one ended and another began. It was one continuous, beautifully choreographed experience. The facial was equally outstanding. With the thoughtful alternation between warm and cool treatments, my skin felt intensely hydrated, nourished, and calm. I left with a genuine glass-skin glow--yes, on a 57-year-old face, which still blows my mind. I've had many spa experiences over the years, and I can confidently say this was the best one I've ever had--from top to tip. To make it even better, I was given insurance receipts for some of the treatments, allowing me to submit for reimbursement--an unexpected and much-appreciated bonus. At the end of the appointment, Alysia and I hugged it out after I told her how extraordinary the experience had been. When I checked out, the staff wished me a happy birthday, asked about my vacation, and genuinely engaged with me about my visit. I also learned that all of Avie Spa's estheticians have at least 15 years of experience, and many--like Alysia--are trained in multiple disciplines, allowing them to care for guests from start to finish. I'd never encountered this model before, and I am absolutely here for it. Overall rating for all treatments: 10/10. The only miss was the robe sizing. If Avie Spa corrected that--and even openly promoted size inclusivity--I truly believe they'd be unstoppable. Spa lovers don't only come in size 2. We come in all sizes and all ages, and we are fiercely loyal to businesses that remember that. If you're in Montreal, you have to go. I will 100% be back on my next trip. read more

Every time we visit Montreal, AVIE SPA is one of the spots on our list for a visit preferably the first so that we can kick off a great vacay. I highly recommend a massage to start. This place literally has the best massage therapists compared to other places I have visited in the Montreal. She is attentive to my needs and appreciates feedback to ensure I have a great experience. I recently reluctantly lured my husband in and he was pleased to leave relaxed and approving of a repeat treatment in the future. The best part is that its conveniently located in Old Montreal and easily accessible to transportation as well as great restaurants and sites post my mini spa day. I haven't found another spa in this area that provided the same pampered experience. At our last visit we were introduced to a new machine that provided us a skin care analysis. The machine determined acne and skin pigmentation issues. I was then able to get a tailored facial that aided in rejuvenating my skin. The experience was insightful yet relaxing and my skin never felt so soft, smooth and nourished post treatment. I highly recommend the experience to everyone and yet to try the assortment of additional services AVIE spa provides. read more

Feeling so much better than I walked in. I called last week to make the reservation for a couple's massage. My therapists did wonders. I've had these stubborn knots over my back for a while. She put in work to get the knots out. At certain points the pressure was to much, and the therapists, just kept asking me if the pressure was too much. I let her know. It's one of those Oh my Gosh it hurts, but it'll be worth it after, type of situations. It was so worth it. After doing the 90-minute-deep tissue massages, we both flipped over to the facial. It was first time getting one for both of us, because we both have super sensitive skin. The aesthetician was gentle and got out all the junk in my pores, without any signs of irritation. After the treatments, we both were so relaxed and zenned. Our bodies didn't tell how much stress we had put it through until after the treatments were done. It was a good release of pain. We were both super happy our face and body got the treatments we deserved. We are planning to make this a regular habit, because it's important to treat your self. read more

My sister and I went there last Saturday and it was a complete delight. Clearly, we think there's new management that has taken over the SPA. We could really tell the difference, since we have been there before. Initially booked my appointment online for a Hot Stone Massage but then decided to get a advanced facial and a French manicure. We were appointed a cabin to change our clothes and provided with a locker and a shower. We stayed a bit longer to get our nails done. As always, the massage therapist was great. Once the massage was done, we were in a complete bliss. The individual handling the facials has changed, and is now managed by someone who worked at a prestigious spa in Montreal for the past 6 years. The facial was so relaxing that I started dozing off on the bed. It's never happened before, truly great feeling. Truly recommend anyone this place, who is looking for some privacy and an escape right in the heart of Old Montreal. read more

what an amazing experience! Had my first ever massage here and OMG! The whole vibe is very calming as soon as you walk in. I waited in the lounge with some ice-cold water and checked out the private hammam which looks awesome. since it was my first time, I opted for a full body relaxation. My therapist took some time to discuss what would be best for me based on my job, what I feel and what I want. The attentiveness was a nice touch. The atmosphere was so clean and calm in the room. Great calming music at a perfect volume, nice mood lighting, a great place to escape the daily grind. The massage was perfect. thorough and just the right amount of pressure. She hit muscles I didn't know I had, and at the end of it I realized exactly where I had a few issues. Looking forward to going back to work on those problem spots we discovered. Fantastic couples experience at Avie Spa. Loved that the hammam was reserved only for us, Im a bit shy when it comes to wearing a bathing suit so being only with my partner made the experience super confortable. Both the male and female massage therapist that we had were AMAZING! I truly thunk it was the best massage I have ever had. Great pressure not just caresses like at other spas we have visited. The facials where also very good. My husband has great skin so for him it was not a big deal but I suffer from super sensitive skin and some acne and was happily surprise to see that my skin was quite smooth after the treatment. Best of all the aesthetitian was very gentle with me while doing the black head extraction. I really liked the whole experience and will be coming back. read more

I booked a one hour deep tissue massage. I've recently had both of my shoulders replaced, fractured two vertebrae and my right clavicle. My therapist, Madeline, tended to those places and really worked out most of the issues that I've been having from the physical therapy rehab that I've been undergoing. She checked with me often in my broken areas and applied the intense pressure that I needed while following it with a softer manipulation to work the areas out. I felt relief right away and today, the day after, the effects are still felt. The spa was clean, professional and tranquil. My friend opted for the Swedish massage and gave a glowing report on his experience as well. I would recommend this establishment to anyone in need of a therapeutic or a relaxing massage. read more

I have been here several times when I visit from Chicago and I can not recommend this place more. I normally opt for a 90 minute massage. The masseuse is phenomenal in her technique and attention to my needs. I always find myself falling asleep and being awoken only when I'm asked to flip over. The pressure is firm and consistent and she has a way of massaging every muscle fiber in my body. A magical experience by far. The owners were also attentive to my needs. When I asked, I was recommended products for my face to further cleanse and hydrate my face. After a few days of use I can see and feel the difference. When around the Montreal again I will surly make it a point to schedule a service at Avie spa. read more

The service is amazing, the staff is personal, warm and nice. You step in avie spa for the first time as if you had been there 100 times before. It is as if you are going to your own spa. They do make you feel good, at ease and just in a good mood. I gave 5 stars because, this was the best Hammam experience I had in Montreal. I opted for the Oriental Avie Spa Ritual treatment, got a full body treatment after relaxing in the hammam. The treatment includes cleansing with black soap, full body exfoliation, as well as a purifying mask and body hydration treatment with argan oil. I felt good and I left that place really happy. Easy check in and check out is what we loved about this place. PHENOMENAL Couples Massage! I've been suffering from massive back pain due to knots in my shoulder and back. The massage therapist got to work with a concentrated deep tissue massage. She had everything coming my way including elbows. She focused 25 minutes alone on my pain area, which deserved the most attention. My girlfriend got the relaxing Swedish massage. She loved it was as well. She is a bit sensitive, so she opted for the moderate pressure massage. Every few minutes both therapists, would always ask us about the pressure and if it was too much. After a week of walking and biking Montreal, I wanted a massage before heading home to the states. I was able to book an hour at Avie Spa the same day and I am so happy I did. The spa is small and welcoming, with a very nice staff. The masseuse gave me a total body, relaxing massage with just the right firm pressure. I especially loved her attention my feet and head, which usually are afterthoughts for others. I left Avie Spa feeling totally relaxed and no longer sore. Wish I could give this place 10 stars! I came here with my bride squad for a spa day. There were 5 of us, and we each got varying treatments. We were all beaming with happiness every step of the way. My massage was excellent, and the facial was fantastic too! To make our experience even better, they opened the hammam for us, and they topped off our time with a champagne toast! I visited here for the Massages but started recently going there for the facials They are absolutely the best priced facials compared to all the other high end spa's in the city.The facilities are clean and changing rooms are tidy. I have been to many spas over the years, and had many massages. I would put the one I had at Avie in my top 5. The space itself is pretty basic but clean and classy. My massage by Amy was amazing-I actually feel asleep with her amazing touch! Very affordable for a 1.5 hour massage in the Old Port of Montreal. If your staying at the Marriot, it's in the hotel. Adored my advanced facial I received from Bhavana! She personalized the whole thing to what I wanted and needed. Extractions to the max. Pulled every one of those suckers out. Knowing it was my first facial she made me feel very unperturbed and relaxed throughout the whole treatment. Also gave great recommendations for products from Physio Dermie. I usually get a microabrasion facial, but the vitamin C cleanse, deep cleanse, glycolic exfoliation and chocolate power mask infused with CBD tightening mask were a welcomed addition!
