We had received a marketing invite for a manicure/pedicure from a The Ten Spot which just opened…read moreits doors on 682 rue Saint Paul Ouest, Montreal. I was accompanying 2 other female guests, and as a guy, I felt quite awkward entering the salon but thought I would just look around to enable me to write about this new business. Awkward is probably an understatement. May be I just did not want to be caught in a pedicure chair. Is this a guy thing or what? Never felt so welcome and they utterly convinced me that I should have a pedicure which I graciously accepted. "I am embarrassed and should have cut my toe nails" I said. "Oh don't worry " was the reply. "in fact, it's better that you don't, as we will get your nails clipped, shaped and polished the professional way." Feeling awkward being a guy going in for a pedicure? Let me tell you that I was so wrong! So very wrong. Their motto is "we've got the highest hygiene standards in the beauty biz." Just a note that we have worked for a hygiene business for over 20 years and I can assure you that they take hygiene very seriously. Pedicure is about having healthy feet. It's a pleasure that everyone should experience. Life is meant to be fun. If you fancy indulgence then let your subconscious guide you, and The Ten Spot will have your feet scrubbed until they are soft. Any gunk hiding between your toe nails and skin will get painless removed. Your feet will be scoured with special soap and scrubbing salt until they reach a level of softness that you didn't know existed. The gentle foot massage improves circulation in your feet and stimulates the blood circulation and rejuvenates your entire body. Finally, the lotion on the feet, ankles and heals just buffs away the dead and dry peely skin. The place is ultra clean, bright and inviting. This is indeed a business that focuses on customer satisfaction, and leaving you feeling totally pampered. Guys, go for it. Your feet will thank you.

Second time getting my nails done ever! This place was…read morehighly recommended by coworkers. I went in for a refill (they tidy up your nails with powder (I call it nail cocaine) and a new polish colour) and it cost me 40$ with tax and tip. Not cheap and I'm not sure they did a much better job than the last place I went to. The place is hard to find unless you know your way around the Montreal downtown underground. It's in the tunnel that connects PVM and Centre Eaton. They close at 7pm on Mondays and I finish work at 6pm. When I got there there were already 3 people finishing up so I really thought they weren't going to have time to fit me in but it wasn't a problem. The removal of my old polish was really fast. The man had all sorts of gadgets and tools. Then he cut my fake nail tips, applied the nail powder (cocaine), and finished up with nail filling (I originally thought you file the nail and then apply the powder). The guy who shaped my nails was a pro! He was filling it every direction making sure every inch of my nails were cut evenly and smoothly. It was great! The part that turned it into just an ok visit was the application of the colour which was done by a lady. The colour I wanted was mislabeled and so they didn't have it in stock anymore. I had to choose another colour on the spot so I'm not completely in love with it. And also, the lady who painted my nails painted one of them crooked. You can't see it when my fingers are together but you can totally tell once the finger is alone. For 40$, I don't think that should happen. Maybe my nail is misshapen but shouldn't they fix that then? Instead of using gel polish that is just polish, she used the kind you put in the little cooker thingy. I don't think I like that method because, even though it's faster, I don't think it feels or looks as good. In the grand scheme of things, it's small. They still did an ok job and it is a very convenient location. They were also very friendly. Verdict is still out on wether I'll return.

Great customer service! Very nice people and 2 weeks later our nails still look perfect!read more

Everyone loves a good spa day.. but how about a spa day on a boat? Yep.. head to Bota Bota! They…read moreare known for their water circuit and spa treatments, and the location and views are beautiful. The water circuit consists of a three step process that will promote relaxation and wellness. First, begin with either a hot sauna or steam bath, this helps improve circulation and promote detoxification. Next you transition to a cold plunge, to help boost some of those good endorphins and reduce inflammation. Next you want to relax. They have a bunch of areas to chill out and lounge around. The resting is important as it helps your body stabilize. Once you've rested, repeat! Or if you're like us.. go back to your favorite spots. After a couple cycles, we had appointments for some spa treatments. I got lymphatic drainage, which was SO relaxing, and Caleb got a deep tissue massage. This was the perfect add on! The one recommendation I do have, is before having a spa treatment, go change out of your wet bathing suit and into something dry. Putting on a wet cold bathing suit after a relaxing massage was... unpleasant. My own fault! Bring a book and sit on the decks to soak up the sun and enjoy your relaxation steps. The facility is well maintained and clean, and the changing rooms are great. We truly enjoyed this experience and it was such a unique thing to do in Montreal. They also have a selection of bathing suits in case you decide last minute to add this on to your itinerary. Highly recommend! Lentz_explore

I've never actually been to a real spa before (I've had facials and massages but never a full…read morelike... spa experience) and so I figured while on my very snowy December trip to Montreal now was the time. The fact that this spa is on a boat and half of it was outdoors was the appeal! So we booked just the water circuit (no extras, just saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs) to see if this was even something we'd like. Turns out the December visit was the way to go! It wasn't packed at all, and turns out that sitting in a hot tub while the snow falls on your face is actually a top ten life experience. It was cold as heck out, mind you, but somehow you never feel chilly when you're going in and out of saunas and hot tubs. I did wish some of the relaxation rooms were a bit warmer, or there was an ability to swap out a soaking towel at some point, but I was never uncomfortable. Everything was clean and people around us were respectful. I loved the no phone policy and definitely chilled out to staring into this strangely brutalist bay. David Lynch relaxation vibes. The best was the floor where you could sit in a porthole window -- only wish we had discovered it earlier! I would totally come back here and check out some of their other offerings. Dunno, might even aim for a winter trip again because it was just that nice!
