Great park. Here's why. Let's jump right into this review. Aviation Park is located on the same lot as the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. The park offers a track and field. Soccer goals are locked up and only accessible for teams playing a game. But, you can bring portable goals to use. There is exercise equipment on the back end next to the Restrooms. Park is FREE to use, well-lit at night, plenty of FREE parking, and safe. The park can get busy - usually with sport teams practicing and people walking or running around the track. Even during peak times, there is space for all - this has been my experience. Depending on what you are coming to the park to do, finding space on the field is not impossible. The field may be occupied by sport teams practices or games occurring, however, the ends/cornere of the field are great options to run drills and practice solo or with a small group. I have seen people doing soccer and football drills while a soccer game is going on. Overall, I recommend this park. The location, amenities access (turf field & soccer goals), and unkeep are golden in my opinion. People walking and/or running around the track are courtesy and respectful of space. read more

I have been coming to this track for about 3 years and I have seen some changes. Great track. However, people that are there for the soccer players have no respect for the Walkers or runners on the track. I am a runner and 90% of the time I have to keep dodging soccer spectators that are standing in the middle of the track. This weekend was a bit different, both soccer teams decided to place half of their team tent blocking the 1st and 2nd lane. Therefore walkers and runners were limited to just two lanes. This was very uncomfortable for many runners. The posted signs and staff needs improvement and maybe people will start to respect the track a bit more. read more

I absolutely love getting my walk in here. The track is very well-maintained. There's tons of parking and in the evening it's very well lit. While I was there, I saw people running, walking, and hanging out. I felt safe. I've been three times in the past week. Highly recommend. It's right behind the performing arts center. read more

My crazy ass ran in the rain for the first time this year and I did it at this park. Im training to get my cardio up. This track is fairly worn out but visible enough to see the lines around the track. Theres a soccer field in the middle of it and plenty of parking at night because whos also crazy enough to practice in the rain? Tough people. Ill be doing my runs here plus its great for the knees for us older folks. read more

It's a track with a turf soccer field in the middle of it. It's nice to walk along the track, but just be aware that there are soccer games going on in the evening time so it is very possible you can and will get hit with a soccer ball while walking. Even so, it's nice to have a track that is easily accessible. There are bathrooms open as well which is nice (but they aren't the cleanest). The lights seem to go off around 10-1030... so just be mindful of that. There is plenty of parking around! read more

As a runner I need the first two inside lanes to remain free of people who are walking, or on their phones. The rules aren't posted properly/visibly so people can see that the inside lanes are for runners. I've asked people kindly to move over...I received nothing but attitude, threats and people not caring. The track becomes a slalom course dodging in and out of lanes just to get a good run in. I was HOPING when they redid the soccer field, that they would have spray painted run/walk on the specific lanes so people would pay attention. It's exhausting some nights when it's packed, I lose focus and don't enjoy my training. Looking for another track to go to. read more

Great place to run on the track or play basketball or soccer. I love the artificial turf on the soccer play field and the new rubberized running track. It so easy to run on. There are also plenty of nice clean restrooms and outside picnic tables. The Gym has actually two full size basketball courts to play on as well. read more

This is a nice public track that goes round and round and round. The people here don't seem too competitive, so you don't get arrogant road warriors who bully their own agenda and hog the running lanes. The inner area is usually used for soccer games. It feels safe, located in an area with lots of people, traffic and not at all secluded. There's lots of parking. It's near the Gymnasium and the Performing Arts center as well as the global aerospace and defense technology company, Northrup Grumman. The only downside might be the fact that it's off of Aviation and Manhattan Beach Blvd, so the air pollution from cars might be a factor to those who are sensitive to that or the noise. But this is the Beach Cities, so the ocean usually takes care of most of that with gentle breezes. read more

This is my favorite place to come for a run or to kick the soccer ball around. I am a night runner and this place is awesome because they turn off the light like around 11 pm. During the night time, there is usually people running so it is a safe place to run at night. Also, there are soccer games during the evening hours, which makes the run a little more fun because you can watch a game while exercising. read more

I've been coming to this track for 3 years. The are 5 lanes and plenty of room, so no bumping or having to run around anyone. I could get my 30 minutes in during the lunch hour or go in the evening during soccer games and it's a pleasant experience. Room for everyone. Only bummer is lack of Internet accessibility so not being able to track on Strava, and I have to rely on my Fitbit. read more

This is a very nice park. I like that there is a track for walking/running. It's a nice neighborhood and everyone minds their business. If you come on the weekend it's a cool place to people watch. There are kids playing soccer and people everywhere doing some form of exercise. Most people wear masks, some do not. It is "required", but nobody makes a big deal as far as I have seen. I'll try to make it a weekly routine to come here to get my body moving. read more

This seems to be the only track & field in the Los Angeles area that's open late enough for night owls like myself to get a workout in. It's a bit of a distance for me, but worth the travel to arrive after 9pm and find lots of people walking/jogging a well lit rubber track. Unexpectedly, I found myself having a nostalgic Drake stadium flashback when the lights went out 9:40pm and I found myself in the pitch dark, eyes wide open trying to make sure I didn't crash into anyone. Still, forty minutes allowed for a sufficient workout, and even with the lights out people are on the track & field until about 10pm. If you're looking for a late night spot to exercise this is a cool location. It's safe and there's a large parking lot, which adds to a hassle free experience. read more

This is a beautiful park within just a few minutes drive from LAX. It has one of the best public running tracks in the city; and is also very well-lit and even staffed after dark. This is truly one of the gems that LA county has to offer. There is also a huge soccer field which groups regularly schedule games and practices on; but you can use it during off-peak hours as long as no-one else is around. There are also plenty of bathrooms and water fountains available! There is also a huge parking lot which is technically in the performing arts center next door but is for this place as well; as they often have Carnivals and other festivals in this area. There is also a grocery store and a laundromat around the corner. Talk about location! This park is in a very safe area, not far from many federal buildings so there is always patrols nearby. A convenient local track open to the public, however, the wear and tear on the track can be slippery for runners. The center field is well used for soccer/football practices and games so you must be alert for stray balls. There were a couple of times a soccer ball almost nailed me in the face. Big Tip: Be aware and try to refrain from wearing headphones on the track so you can focus on not being the 1000 point target. Large parking lot available with plenty of spots. read more

I always enjoy my walks, the place is open, well lit and it's safe. Always a lot of folks walking the track. The custodial works needs improvement. The bathrooms are filthy with trash on the floor. The track is in need of resurfacing and the artificial grass needs some cosmetic work including cleaning up the green grass fibers; there are piles of the stuff everywhere, mostly near the edges of the field. Obviously a result of constant use. Parking is decent, best on the weekend when the business folks aren't working. read more

One of my favorite "lowkey" places to workout. When I say workout I actually mean do a few laps and check emails to get in my daily steps lol Seriously, I've been coming here for a while as it is one of the few tracks on the west side free and open to the public! Aviation Track and Field is an artificial turf space surrounded by a rubber track. Most of the time there will be multiple soccer practices taking place while others walk around the track and some even using the grass space on the side as well! There's a total of 6 lanes Lanes 1-2 are for runners Lanes 3-6 for walkers Plenty of parking! I've parked along the side and also near the restrooms. Pretty much anywhere that looks like I won't get a ticket. The colorful "hut" is where you'll find restrooms and water fountains (including the vertical ones designed for refilling bottles) Not sure how crowded it is on the weekends but I like to come here on my day off or late afternoons during the week to avoid large crowds! read more

Aviation track is one of my favorite places to go running! They have different lanes for different speeds ranging from walking to running. It's very convenient in my opinion because as I run I tend to slow down and I can easily move into the outer lanes peacefully without slowing other runners behind me down. This isn't something that I can do if I'm running on the sidewalks or other places! The field is also pretty decent sized and versatile. People can come play sports, sit down, or even do some workout routines. Plenty of parking space and the location is easy to find read more

Great place to run if you're in the area. There's plenty of parking everywhere. It's a standard track, so it's ideal when working on anything from distance to speed. There's a mixture of all types of people from age to levels of athleticism. They'll have soccer games going on so you becareful of soccer balls that may hit you. In addition, they have a snack shack that sell food and drinks. The only downside to this place is that it's literally next to Aviation Bouelvard, so when it gets traffic you can sometimes smell the smog coming from the cars. If you don't go during the times people typically leave from home for work, or coming home from work you'll be good. read more

Love this local track, field, and snack shop. The track and field are well maintained and well used. Morning, noon and night the track is pretty packed with active south bay-ers. The field is used for soccer practice, football games and those training. Opens pretty early and closes after dark. I love that the space is so well used. It feels safe even after dark. This is so important to me. Sometimes you want to run after dark and this track is a great place to do that. Parking is easy and there is plenty of it. Thumbs up! Restrooms are decent. The parking lot by the performing arts turns into food truck heaven on Tuesday nights and the Thursday lunch hours. It makes for a nice meal option in the south bay. read more

New Year's Resolution-walk more-check!! And this is a great place to do it. You can walk around the field on a soft track. The field is not huge but a good size for soccer games. You will also find a gymnasium for bball games & a little playground for toddlers. read more

This is a beautiful location with a soccer field and a track around it for people to walk or run. The only bad thing are the soccer teams that kick the balls too hard and hit the walkers and then don't apologize/ expect you to get their ball for them. The walkers and runners are very nice are very respectful of their space, no one is competitive or rude about being too fast or too slow. read more

Awesome well kept track with plenty of parking and pretty decent bathrooms. Definitely lots of eye candy to keep your run interesting, what with the soccer players filling up the field and all. Couple of negs though. Watch out for the flying soccer balls - I've had to play goalie a couple of times. My hubby plays soccer here with the South Bay Sports League, and loves it. I enjoy coming out to watch him play, because I can also run a few miles around the track while he's warming up for his games. This complex is very organized, in the sense that the track and field are always clean, there's ample parking, and the games start/end on time. Been coming here for years for soccer and running events. Can be pretty crowded at times. They turn off the lights after the last soccer game. Some people still walk here after they turn off the lights. The track does need some new upgrades though. The bathrooms are standard. Plenty of parking nearby. read more

Nice track, open green field with soft artificial grass. I like running here, the track is soft, much better than a concrete surface like at some high schools. The field is nice to sprint on. Usually there is a soccer game of some sort going on, but even then there is space to do sit ups or something if you feel like it. It can get crowded, but that's just how it is for a free public track. There are people who fail to walk on the outside which is annoying. If you go later in the evening around 8:30 or 9 it will be more open. Also, tiny pieces of the rubber track might jump up into your shoe. A minor nuisance. Overall this is a nice track and a very convenient location for South Bay residents. read more

Not a bad place to work out, if you're willing to drive to it. And lucky for you, there's plenty of parking! Enter off of Space Park Drive (off Aviation Blvd., north of Manhattan Beach Blvd.), and then turn right at the first stop sign. There was a mix of people using the field and track when I went today, and that seems to be the norm. You have runners, walkers, run/walkers on the track, with soccer teams or soccer individuals using the field. I'm sure this changes with the seasons. Suffice to say there was more than enough space for me and my friend to run around, and we didn't have to worry too much about the soccer balls hitting us either (since there are practice nets). The great thing about the track here is that it's a rubber track, so it's easy on your knees. It's worn down a bit, since it was first installed in 2008, but it is still better than running on asphalt and loads better than running on cement. There's also bright stadium lighting, which is great if you are a solo runner who wants to get in a night run without risking your safety. And, unlike a lot of parks, this one has a clean bathroom. Well, the women's bathroom was clean and well-stocked. I can't say anything about the men's bathroom. It's a standard 0.25 mile track, and it might get tiring to run round and round; but it's a good way to work on your speed without killing your knees or getting run over. Check it out! read more

Terrific Soccer Fields - Our team usually plays 7v7 at Crossroads in Santa Monica which feels super cramped compared to the nice turf fields at Aviation. The fields themselves seem well maintained and there is a lot of room for running the ball up and down the field making for much better games. This might explain why we've won the last two games here =). Unfortunately the fencing around the track/fields aren't very high so there are sometimes short game delays while players chase down balls in the surrounding parking lot. Legit Running Track - No dirt track here! There are always plenty of runners, walkers, and athletes running around the nice rubber track. I really wish I lived closer so I could train on this track rather than running on asphalt streets. Remember to watch lanes to avoid being hit or getting in someone's way!
