This review is for when the Torrance Cherry Cultural Festival was taken place at this park. It's a large area, with some trees where you can find shade to sit or picnic. There is plenty of parking lots surrounding the area, and even when we couldn't find any spaces we were able to find one quickly in the neighborhoods nearby. The park itself is clean, and people were respectful enough to dispose their trash in the numerous trashcans that were there. The cherry blossom trees here were very pretty. It looked as though they were newly planted there not too long before they have bloomed. I appreciated how green and well-kept the grass lawns were, and it made my experience over the weekend very enjoyable. I'll definitely come back if they have this festival again next year.

Nothing special about this park. Hard to make a left turn to Prairie coming from the parking lot as there are a lot of traffic. The fascinating thing I saw was the pay phone. :) I cannot believe there are still pay phone that exists nowadays. Not only that, there were actually people using it. While the parking is ample, it can also be sketchy. I parked here to eat lunch during a lunch break and surprisingly people are parked and inside their cars. Some are smoking, taking naps, eating, and some weird guy was just people watching. Needles to say, I wrapped my lunch early and headed back to work ASAP. :)

We just came here for the cherry blossom festival! Parking is a bit tricky but this place is huge and well kept. They had an entire section for food trucks and then another section with pop up tents selling a lot of trinkets. Even one is a petting zoo, or the arts and crafts tent or the one dedicated to puppies. There was a small stage for performances with grass seating. There's also a huge play ground! There must have been hundreds of people at this event. Which I did find in Yelp events. But after an hour of wandering around, we had seen everything (nothing really worth buying) got our shaved ice, watched one performance. And there was nothing more to do but leave. Even though we had a long drive. The one thing I was disappointed was this was advertised all over the town of Torrence on banners and flyers. The big annual Cherry Blossom Festival. There were about six trees. Not even in full bloom. And not the greatest photo opportunity. You could battle with other people to get a shot or have the street and Cars in it. Y'all really need to plant more trees and make this an orchard if you want a festival.

This is a true hidden gem in the heart of Torrance. It is a huge park that reminds me a lot of Golden Gate Park n San Francisco. There is literally something for everyone a massive kids play area gardens trails and most importantly for me a place where you can let your little four-legged friends run free. It is very well kept up with ladies large Parks you always get a little nervous about some of the characters lurking in the bushes but they do a good job of regulating. there is plenty of parking and since it is such a large Park you can enter on multiple sides and find something new each trip. ***Covid-19 update*** The bathrooms were open and I saw a team waiting to clean it right at noon, so it does seem like they are taking the sanitation seriously

I loved the park. Fonzi LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDD it! Just nice way to take in sunny breeze and again a mother, daughter day for me. Huge park, kids area with monkey bar and swings. plenty of parking too.

    Go time.

I've been coming here for years, either to play soccer myself, root for cousins, or now - cheer for my daughters. This past weekend we participated in the regional soccer playoffs. The field conditions were horrible! Granted, it rained the night before, but the fields don't drain well, we play on a puddle and mud filled pitch. Even on a good day these fields are average, patches of dirt and uneven grass. The good news is that there are a bunch of fields, so it's ideal for running soccer tournaments. There are two main parking lots, so depending on where you are playing, it might be optimal to park in one or the other. Truth be told, it's not a bad walk regardless. Bring sunscreen it can get hot.

UPDATE 1: Review #10 2026-024…read more Since my decade old review, Charles H. Wilson Park is due for an update. Major Changes: 2005: Annenberg Tree House 2009: Fitness Zone 2012: Turf Training Facility 2018: Children's Playground & Splash Pad 2024: Community Sports Complex's Roller Rink 2025: Tennis Courts LED Lighting Current Project: It was announced in 01/2025 that 8 new dedicated, lighted, & ADA-accessible pickleball courts will be built near (north) the existing courts. Early 2026 completion expected. Amenities: * Amphitheater * Basketball Courts * Batting Cages * Electric Car Charging Stations (PlugShare) * Farmer's Market (Tuesdays & Saturdays) * Fitness Course 0.91-mi. * Fitness Zone * Futsal * Horseshoe Courts * Indoor Sports Center * Live Steamer Trains (1st Sunday, 3rd Saturday) * Paddle Tennis/Pickleball Courts * Picnic & BBQ Areas (bouncer accessible with permit) * Playground * Restrooms * Roller Hockey Rink * Sand Volleyball Court * Softball Diamonds * Splash Pad * Sports Center * Tennis Courts * Tree House Donated by The Annenberg Foundation, the 2.5K sq. ft. Tree House was designed by Treehouse Guys, LLC & is the 1st universally-accessible tree house in a CA public space. The "fresh air gym" includes kinetic exercise machines, intuitive adjustable resistance machines, & calisthenics station for body weight exercises. I love this outdoor gym but the OCD in me has issues with not spraying down (sanitizing) equipment after use which is common for indoor gyms & it gets really dusty/dirty particularly after raining. Batting cage operator Tyler Sports, Inc. helped turn the defunct skatepark into a 10K sq. ft. artificial training facility for futsal & baseball/softball fielding; there's 2 netted pitching tunnels & 2 turf sports fields. This helped minimize non-rule abiding soccer players from practicing on the tennis & pickleball courts, & damaging the nets. Futsal is a fast-paced, scaled down version of outdoor soccer. The children's playground was part of a citywide initiative to modernize aging play structures & swing to meet current safety standards. I love the intricate "Spherical Spider Web" rope-based climbing structure! There's a smaller rock climbing wall for the younger set or kids who prefer to be closer to the ground. The only iffy equipment is the Stand-Up Seesaw; I've seen some kids accidentally falling or intentionally crawling underneath the seesaw while in motion. Yikes! That same year a splash pad was added to replace the defunct pond (which I miss dearly... I loved our local ducks!), turning the community's eyesore into a spot to cool off during spring & summer, using recirculating water system to conserve water (yeah, that means don't drink the water!). L.A. Galaxy & TUDN partnered to refurbish the rink's floor surface with Sports Court Defense tiles that are designed to be a safer, shock-absorbing surface, & better support sports: roller hockey, roller derby, pickleball (6 courts), futsal (3 courts), etc. LED lighting was added to the tennis courts for reduced operating costs, improved visibility (that would be me for my old fart eyes), & energy efficiency. I officially tried pickleball for the 1st time this year at YEE Badge Day at PowerPlay Pickleball (refer to Review #953), & I'm hooked! So I am especially excited for these new lighted courts... woot, woot!! The farmer's market has grown so much that they expanded to the small lot west of the softball field nearest to Crenshaw Blvd.; most of the food vendors are located there in addition to the ones near Dee Hardison Sports Center. I met Mel while taking a pic of the horseshoe courts; he's registered with the City to maintain the courts & was doing some upkeep when he spotted me. Mel's so thoughtful & generous with his time... I learned Ted Allen horseshoes are the best (unique finger grips for consistent throws, expertly designed for balance), about the Flip or Turn style (he prefers turn) throws, differences between kid & adult horseshoes, court clay, etc. Ted broke many records to his 10 world championships as well as holding them, including 72 consecutive ringers -- wowza! He even demoed a couple of pitches for pics & hit 2 ringers... what a surprising moment for writing this update! Charles H. Wilson Park is a 44-acre family-friendly, recreational hub that truly has a l'il something for everyone!

This park is spacious. Has picnic tables, aquatic facilities, basketball court, pickel ball and a good outdoor stage presentation facility for events. Place fits over a 1000 people at this outdoor event venue. Bring your pop up tent and your fold up chairs to feel comfortable. With that said, my #1 gripe about this park, only two unisex toilets available! Who would put a 2 person bathroom with a cipher code that can accidentally lock. These two bathrooms is stationed like a miniature hut stationed by the entertainment area. Who ever engineered these bathrooms should be reprimanded. It was a dumb idea for cipher codes to be implemented. One bathroom was accidently locked with no one in there! Terrible idea. Over a 1000 people and only as two restrooms nearby! If you had to use the use restrooms.. you have to walk in the other side of the park where the picnic area is located. It is quite a walk! Walked or wait 30 minutes. Overall, its comfortable park minus the restroom situation.

There's a community garden here with free mulch. There's a basketball court as well. I noticed lots of folks doing tai chi here. I also noticed groups of nannies meeting up here with their kids. There's no sand, dirt or wood chips at the playground area. The bad: One of the four swings could've used WD40. It was very squeaky. There was a man on the bench by the playground alone with a book who looked to be video recording the playground. I wasn't sure if it was innocent and he was potentially just video chatting with someone and showing them where he was but I was suspicious that a man would come alone and choose a bench by the loud children's play area to read rather than sit at one of the many other benches further away for a quiet space to read. The interesting: There's plenty of street parking. The playground is flat.

[Review #831] 2024-032…read more I forgot that we visited Paradise Park years ago... I think it was a walking field trip from H's daycare/preschool: Leap & Bound Academy? My husband wanted to come back & visit a different park, & this one has some different & interesting play structures, including Saturn, train, & submarine. It does have your standard playground equipment; monkey bars, slide, swings, etc. that separates the big kids from the little ones for safety. The park has a large grassy field for frisbee, soccer, or just running around playing tag. And plenty of trees for shade! The park seems dog-friendly as we spotted several dog walkers during our playtime. There's a shaded picnic area for you to hold a small party, or hang out with friends; with picnic tables & BBQ grills spread out through the park. With the lack of food traffic, the BBQ grills & picnic tables could used some maintenance (rusted grills) &/or clean-up (cobwebs on grills, bird poop on tables). There's a tennis court somewhere; I haven't been but another reviewer posted a pic of the courts. And restrooms are available... again, don't know where but a couple reviewers mentioned they're near the tennis courts; however, there's no stall doors & they're dirty. Oh no! There's no parking lot that I'm aware of, but there's enough street parking around the park's perimeter. Not our ideal park due to its distance from home, but a fun layover when we wanted something different.
