Easy to book and walking distance. We came here for my son's birthday. Hostess was not very friendly and greeted me by staring at me, not welcoming. Ambiance is beautiful inside. Our server was nice and friendly but she barely came over. Took awhile to greet us, it seemed we were the last table to check in on once everyone else was taken care of. We needed plates, forks, drinks and she was no where to be found. I felt bad to have to get up and go find her. Steak and scallops were ice cold. Mussels were hot and fresh. I don't know the reason of the poor reviews on this place, it's a Boardwalk restaurant, space is beautiful, ocean view not to crowded even on a Friday night. Service was quick and good, we start with the charcuterie board(too small for the price) and after we got Duck a la orange, Steak Frites, beef Bourguignon all of them were great . Yes it's pricey but it's ocean front in the high priced pier village. Good place for a couple dates or just to get drinks at the bar. read more

We found this amazing spot after work along the gorgeous Long Branch Boardwalk after catching a picture perfect sunset. We enjoyed the Beet Salad and Lentil Salad which paired well with our cocktails: the dark & stormy and blueberry smash. Wonderful! Then we shared the gruyere Omelette and the Branzino. Lizzie and Joe took very good care of us and we topped it all off with the pot de creme and a mix of sorbets and ice creams. Nice Smith tea selection as well. We will definitely be back. Bon Apetit! Service Superb since we were there during slow hours start of happy Hour on 3pm Saturday in offseason. Ambiance Very classy and upscale feeling with beach vibes outdoor seating overlooking ocean views in Pier Village. Food Happy Hour menu limited but we had a good size cheeseburger and it came with French fries which I wasn't expecting and this really good caramelized onions American cheddar with this side of truffle aioli. Happy hour drinks were the best with $5 draft beers and amazing cocktails with seasonal mint watermelon cocktail that was very refreshing. Overall plan to come back for dinner during high season to see how they are in peak time. read more

The Avenue Restaurant in Long Branch has absolutely stunning atmosphere and views -- it's hard to beat the seaside vibe, especially at sunset. We were excited for a special evening out and started off strong with the East Coast oysters -- fresh, briny, and truly delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn't quite match the setting. Service was noticeably slow from the start. We waited quite a while for our soup, and when the crab cakes finally arrived, they were dry and clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. It's really disappointing when a place with so much potential and ambiance is let down by poor execution and inattentive service. Avenue is worth a visit for the views and drinks, but be prepared for a hit-or-miss dining experience. Hopefully, management can tighten up the kitchen and front-of-house service to match the excellence of the location. read more

We attended a wedding and reception at Avenue. It's a great spot and we were in a large room and rooftop of the place. We arrived early, so enjoyed a very nicely done Old Fashioned in the downstairs bar first. The service and drink were excellent. The wedding was done very well and we also enjoyed a nice buffet as well as staff walking around with appetizers. Very professionally done. The only (big) negative was the bar upstairs during the reception. They had only 2 bartenders for a large group, which meant there was usually a wait for drinks at the bar. And the upstairs bartenders were very sloppy, definitely extra hired hands for the event. I ordered a bourbon and cola, the bartender poured out the last few drops (literally) from a bottle and filled the plastic cup with cola. Terrible drink. This kinda sloppy stuff went on for the entire 3 hour reception. read more

Beautiful restaurant right on the ocean. Lighting is just right, staff is friendly and seemingly attentive. Food and drinks were good. Visited for my birthday and originally was sat in a booth next to a half wall to my left but had a nice view of the ocean. Personally, I don't like to sit next to a wall so we requested to sit elsewhere. They have a beautiful fireplace which I then asked to sit by and our waiter was accommodating although we traded servers. The new server Martin (not so great at his job yet) eagerly greeted us and took our drink orders right away. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water and lemons while we pondered over the menu. He brought the water and drinks- no lemons. We ordered appetizers (oysters, grilled octopus, and shrimp cocktail). They came we ate, no lemons! We reminded him again. He apologized and said he'd be back. The oysters were dry and definitely didn't taste freshly shucked and the mignonette just tasted like straight red wine vinegar no shallots, no anything in there and the platter was also missing any horseradish sauce- instead it came with cocktail sauce that also was a bit lackluster. If you follow my posts you know I like and know oysters! The grilled octopus was delectable- loved the sauce it came with and the shrimp cocktail- not impressive. However, our entrees were amazing! The Branzino- ohh "m" "G"; the flavors were paired so well. It has roasted fennel, capers, chopped kalamatta olives (not the black olive tapenade listed) tomatoes and roasted potatoes. I asked again for the lemon wedges which after 1 hour still weren't given and for pepper. Our waiter says they didn't have pepper. After about 15 minutes he brings black pepper and explains he though I asked for a vegetable "pepper"; either way I only had about 1/3 of my dinner left but for what remained it was fine. My husband had the Steak Frites which was good and the frites were comparable to Rue 57 frites but the steak tasted like it was gas grilled and charred thereafter (meh). For desert we had crème brûlée and dark chocolate pot de crème which was fantastic! The manager or owner came over during our visit and he stayed not too long and we told him all was well but by the time we left we vocalized the issues discussed. He had wondered why we didn't tell him earlier and we felt bad because the server was very nice and did apologize for not bringing the lemons after being reminded twice and not understanding the black pepper request. Since we stayed for at least 3 hours I thought it was very cool to see what happens. At 7pm the light dimmed a bit and the fireplace was on. At 8pm the lights dimmed a bit more and at 9pm the lights went down a bit more and the DJ came on. Ohhh I wanted to stay until 10 to see what surprises I would see then too but it was a great evening with good food and good ambiance. Would love to go back again. read more

First of all the seating was so close we said hi to the couple next to us and said we are going to be friends. I can say it was similar to the Cheesecake Factory seating. I got the crab cake appetizer and the flounder stuffed with crab. I was very disappointed for it being a French restaurant, it was not seasoned. The crab cake had a lot of crab but it was blah. Same thing with the flounder. I had to pour the sauce over it to be able to eat it. No seasoning at all. My sister got the lentil salad with salmon. She said she wanted the salmon medium and it came out under done. She had to send it back.She said the salad was good. Service is absolutely horrendous. Waited over an hour for entrees that never came. Drinks were empty. Waiter kept walking by ignoring my table. Spoke to the manager, a young guy, who seemed clueless. Offered drinks on the house - expect we were drinking alcohol. When my Table and I said we aren't drinking he offered us alcohol to compensate for the terrible service. The appetizers we got were good but again the wait for them is not worth it. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

Incredibly rude staff!! We walked in with two other couples to have a drink at the bar. We were met with only rude stares from the bartender and a man who may have been a manager? They did not say a word, no hello and did not acknowledge us in any friendly way whatsoever. They looked at us , appalled as if we did something wrong. I asked if they were open bc I was so taken aback at how they were treating us. They said we just opened at 3. It was 3:30. There was not another soul in the place. We did not feel welcome at all and made the whole experience very uncomfortable. We left and went to the restaurant next door for dinner where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner with very friendly service. I am disappointed bc we were looking forward to trying this place. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews, I had a great time here. Came for early dinner on a Sunday. The restaurant was clean and absolutely gorgeous. Right on the water with a great space and location. The food was also very good! My whole party had the $40 pre fix dinner and were satisfied. The steak frites and mole frites were standouts. The dessert at the end also was the perfect ending. The service was attentive, friendly and fast. Is it more expensive than some of the places in the area? Yes but you also get what you pay for. Came here for a lunch for a large party, around 24 people. Ambiance - 4/5 so pretty, airy, beachy, and classy. Right on the water, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Food - 3/5 Complimentary cheese and veggies boards that came out were standard. I had the escargot as my appetizer, and I loved the buttery smell and taste. My entree was the cheeseburger, which was your typical one, with the pickle, tomato, and French fries. Big portion. Dessert was a combo of creme brulee and chocolate mouse, both were great. Service -2/5 disappointing. I had to ask for my coffee to be refilled several times and they just forgot. My mom had ordered escargot and they brought her a house salad instead for the appetizer. I'd gotten the beet salad for my son and they brought it then gave it to another guest and gave the fruit salad to my son instead because "that's what's on the kids' menu." I came here for a friend's birthday. This restaurant is located about twelve minutes away from the Long Branch train station. The inside was beautiful with great views and high ceilings. You can see Pier Village and the water through the large windows. I had high hopes as this restaurant was one of the more popular places to visit in Long Branch. We were going up to the third floor for the private event space. There was a DJ set up by the elevator as you walk in. There was an area where you could hang up your coats but no one there to manage it. There was a bar area but there was only one person working. They should have more bartenders available to take care of everyone. They had small food platters spread throughout the floor. There was steak, egg rolls, tiny burgers, and chicken strips with french fries. The only complaint I had was the french fries were very salty. Overall I had a great time and would like to come here again during the summer to enjoy the views. read more

The service was "okay". We didn't get the glass of wine we ordered until after we were served our main course. We didn't complain. Mistakes happen. No big deal. When the server (Pinnell) asked if we still wanted our wine after we were served main course I declined. Now comes the fun part. The bill included the tax and gratuity (20%). So I left everything alone and signed. To my dismay I found myself charged another 20% on top of the bill that included the gratuity to begin with. That when the service average at best. So lesson - always strike out the tip row, and write the final amount - even if it's paid already and you are presented with the final bill. Because chances are - like I found out at Avenue - you will end up paying 40% tip. I have email conversation about this with the manager and the actual receipt and the credit card charge for anyone that care to know. Posting this for awareness from customer perspective. We were in the area and came to Avenue for their happy hour. The place was packed and we got some of the last few seats at the bar. I had the cucumber basil martini during happy hour and it was delicious! It wasn't too strong and it was so flavorful. We split the short rib sliders, we put the order in when we ordered our drinks and it took a long time for them to arrive. We thought they forgot about the food because we finished the drinks and no one ever asked us if we wanted another. We were going to just forget about it and close out but then they arrived. I thought it was a good deal 3 for $10. The short ribs were tender and the cheese sauce that was on it was the best part. I just wish they were a little bit hotter. Stopped in for a quick bite. Been here several times & was always special. For a start one couple was there and me- that's it in this large restaurant. It is off season so I didn't give it too much thought. Ordered my go to Coconut Martini which was divine. For dinner I ordered the octopus appetizer. Another favorite. I was very disappointed. The presentation was so nice but the octopus was chewy. Honestly I thought I could taste that it was in the freezer, along with the bread as well. Not fresh. What a shame- not sure I'll return. Good happy hour! $10 martini's & $2 oysters were enjoyed while sitting outside on the couches. Great people watching from this area. Interior-wise it's very spacious & I noticed everyone was at the bar vs sitting at tables - probably because of the great happy hour deal. The food was absolutely terrible, the service was so slow, the menu was so limited, the bathrooms were dirty, and overall I would never come back here. The escargot - I sent back because it tasted like I was eating dirt. Ordered an LIT and the waiter came back 20 min later to tell us they can't make it because they didn't have the ingredients. No calamari on the menu. Our meals were the short ribs and rib eye steak. They both tasted the exact same. All of the sinks in the women's restroom did not work. The place is falling apart. Beautiful, French, ocean front restaurant in PV. Decided to stop in for a Monday night happy hour with my man. I loved the jumbo prawns with andouille sausage. It had also grilled baguette to dip in the incredible creamy sauce that accompanied the dish. We also the short rib sliders which were also very tasty. We dined at Avenue for lunch on Mother's Day. The restaurant is beautifully located, and the interior is classy. We were able to sit outside on the deck on a lovey sunny day. Those are the positives. Unfortunately the service was terrible. Our server was new, extremely inexperienced, and overwhelmed. It took 2.5 hrs to be served the three courses on the brunch menu. The food was only mediocre and the dishes did not come out together. For the price, we expected much better. read more

We were very disappointed...While this place looks nice on the inside, It is a disaster from the moment you walk in to check in --It is very disorganized, and there is lots of confusion at every turn. Staff had problems from checking you in ( long waits) to getting a server ( in our case, no server or helper) to come over for water, drinks, or any acknowledgment for over 25+ minutes. Don't know what the low ratings are about? This place was great. First of all the restaurant is beautiful. They must have spent a fortune on that. We were there for Pier Village restaurant week and the food was superb. Apps were escargot, oysters, and salad. Seafood was great and even the salad had a great citrus dressing. Mains did not disappoint. Salmon in butter sauce, a seafood combo over pasta and a chicken dish. Only very minor issue was we each had a desert duet with crème brûlée and chocolate pot de creme. Let me start off by saying that as a part time resident of PV, I try to dine at the local restaurants at PV so I dont have to drive and so I can support local businesses. We have had lunch at Avenue which was good - burgers - but this past weekend we decided to try dinner. Not a great experience. 1-Service is slow most likely due to not enough waiters. The waiters seemed very stressed and were walking so fast it makes guests anxious. I suggest bus boys hand out water and bread right away rather then the waiters. The conversation from tables around us the entire time was how bad the service was. We kept hearing "waiter where are our drinks" "Waiter can we please get the check" "waiter how bout some bread" etc. 2-The food was not good. My $29 tasteless roasted chicken was just a breast that was pounded to death. Plate had a few carrots and potatoes. I expected at least a half chicken with the skin. What I got was what I expect to get at Applebee's. Wife's $35 (ish) Trout was a bit dry and had no taste and not enough sauce. 3-The atmosphere is really nice. Tall ceilings, open doors to let the breeze in. Mucic was a bit loud but we dealt with it We might try lunch again since the hamburger is usually good but we will stick to the Greek Place as usual. Never an issue there. I dont like posting this but if I don't post how my experience and how I feel how will Avenue be able to correct itself. read more
