Based on the reviews below, this restaurant has over the years mastered and elevated the art of suck. Start at the host stand. There was no one at the host stand and no sign indicating "please wait to be seated". Eventually someone sat us. About a half hour later Mrs P had to pull aside a man acting as if he was the lead to have someone take our order. That took another 20 minutes. The kitchen took equally long to get food out. No doubt as woefully understaffed as the dinning room. I and Daughter P ordered fish and chips which the menu clarified was fried cod and French fries. Instead it came with chips. That's crisps to you and me, Rusty. They tasted exactly like Terra Vegetable Chips found in the supermarket. Dead match. And they were dead stale. Daughter2 P's mozzarella sticks were so late that I nearly thought they would arrive for the next meal. Our water was never refilled despite several requests. One was placed with the would be lead. This jerk turned to near by bus boy, snapped his fingers and motioned for him to get it. I dislike bad leaders. Particularly when they end up covering my table. We should have left during the interminable time it took to order. I implored Mrs P to leave a negative tip for the full amount and then pay the bill plus 5% just to make a point. Listen to the reviews... this place should not be in business. We made a reservation for 12/30 at 8:15pm for 4 people including a toddler. When we get there, Nashon, the guy who claimed he was in charge for the night stated that since they were getting ready for NYE, we had to choose from two table options. Wait for it... a bar table or a booth that could seat 2 people. I had to go back and forth with him to tell him that wasn't going to work and we needed a table to fit four people. He says "it's going to take a while", because they were setting up for NYE; mind you, setting up for NYE was forks + knives on the table. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS REMOVE THEM OFF THE TABLE. Eventually after me complaining, he sat us at an appropriate table. Then we get the food and guess what... there's a hair in my husbands burger. At this point, we wanted to speak to someone in charge to get our frustrations across and we ended up meeting Nashon again who we had to go back and forth with for about five minutes. Located in the Ocean Place Resort hotel just beyond the check-in counter, the place was surprisingly empty when we arrived and remained that way for the duration of our meal, which should have been a sign. We didn't heed the warning. The menu is limited and the prices are lofty. That would be fine if the food had been amazing. Sadly, amazing didn't happen here. The calamari was quite possibly the worst calamari I have ever had in my life. No exaggeration here. It was so crunchy that I felt like I was gnawing on Cousin Catherine's turkey. There's just a level of thoughtlessness here in realizing the menu. For example, they have a kids menu, which is nice since the restaurant is in a hotel. However, the kids' hot dogs were not for kids at all. No child wants so massive of a frank that they can't even get it into their mouth. They also don't want it charred on top the way you might cook it at an outdoor barbecue. They also don't want potatoey fries that are either undercooked or burnt. In other words, think what a kid would want, order raw materials to match it and then cook it appropriately. The entrees were almost as equally disappointing. The shrimp and grits is priced at $32. While I'm fine with a $32 entree, I expect it to meet a certain standard. It just didn't happen here. The grits were good as was the chili on top of it. But $32 good? No. For a family of four to drop $133 on a meal, we expect more. The one positive of the restaurant is it's service. The waitress was very attentive. The manager also came over on more than one occasion. We're not the type of customers to complain unless there's something terribly wrong -- what does one say to a manager? "Well, sir, your food is bad and whoever has conceived of this place needs to fire the chef, replace the kitchen, 86 the menu, and order new product." If the restaurant is lucky, they'll figure some of that out themselves. If not, it'll likely continue to resemble Tombstone for as long as the hotel manages to stay afloat. read more

Best salad I have ever eaten in my entire life. Balsamic drizzled, juicy tomatoes and the creamiest burrata. SOOOO tasty and flavorful. Added shrimp came with a decent amount and was fresh. Kept me full for awhile and I dream of ordering this again. Friends had the steak sandwich which they said was also tasty and looked good...I tasted the French fries and they were perfectly crispy and seasoned. It was a Saturday night and there were three other tables in the entire restaurant. We were a group of 7 with a baby. Drinks took forever and there was miscommunication between the bar staff and the servers and management about what bourbons were and we're not available. Fifteen minutes later and three bourbon choices later drinks finally came out including the kids apple juice we asked for when we first sat down. After we finished dinner we weren't asked if we were interested in coffee or dessert or another round of drinks just given the check. I went to the bar to order drinks the bartender was more concerned about when she was getting off for the evening saying they told me 930. It was well before 9 when we ordered so we weren't going to be holding her up. She couldn't make an espresso martini even tho it was on the menu. The management needs to train the kids they're hiring. It is not the fault of the server and the bartender because they were clearly never given proper training on how to do their jobs. We were seated by lovely hostess Gabriella. But it took several minutes before a waiter came to our table. We asked if when they cleaned the table next to us we could move and it was never cleaned and we never got moved. We never got bread. We asked several people for some. It took forever to get it. They serve you 1 roll each. They don't leave a bread basket. They accommodated dietary restrictions and changes to menu but we waited over 45 min. before we had to get a manager and tell them we never got any food. 15 min or so later we got our appetizers but our requests were ignored. My sister ate w/o realizing they ignored her dietary restrictions and got sick. We waited even longer and decided to cancel our order and leave. This is 1.5 hrs after we first sat down. Then they suddenly had our food and my sister was already sick and we had to go. The worst was the food manager and waitress didn't apologize and got upset we wanted to leave. They just made faces. They should have been more apologetic. We were starving and left hungry. They were clearly understaffed for Memorial Day weekend. read more

Don't go here unless you have to. It's convenient because it is inside the Ocean Place Resort, and if you're staying there it makes sense. But it's run very poorly and the food is not good. One star because if you get a decent table you have a nice view. Hostess did not really speak English, and after we communicated in Spanglish we wanted a table for two which actually took a couple minutes (why did she think we were there I'm still wondering), she took us to a nice table by the window that needed to be cleared and cleaned. Maybe my Spanglish is so bad that I mistakenly said bring us to a table that hasn't been cleaned up yet, but I don't think so. Ocean Place is a big busy place and it's great to have a diverse workforce, but it probably is a good idea to have the first face people communicate with at your main restaurant to actually be able to communicate with the majority of your customers and get them seated. Waited about 10 minutes and no waiter had showed, until I asked one of the workers and he went and got our waitress. From then the service was decent, but couldn't make up for the food or the bad start. My GF dining partner found cigarette butts in her hash browns (we were there for breakfast) after tasting them and wondering why they tasted like cigarettes. She ordered two eggs over easy that came over hard, no runny egg whatsoever. My Eggs Benedict was a little on the cold side and had literally no Hollandaise sauce, just barely poached eggs (obviously not cooked by the guy who makes the over easy eggs) on some ham (called Trenton ham or something like that) on an English muffin. And after the cigarette comment from the gf, I obviously didn't eat the eggs. The tab came to $40 for the aforementioned items plus a cup of coffee and OJ and a side of Bacon. Well, I wish we had read some of the reviews prior to going here. We had a reservation for the Seaview for Christmas day lunch, but when we got there we were offered the dinner menu, which we accepted. The appetizers were limited to two choices, which were adequate in size, but left the menu very thin for someone who didn't like vegetables, as the soup (choice 1) and salad (choice 2) were both vegetable based. As in other reviews, we were offered one piece of bread, which took some time to actually get. No basket was offered for the table. My wife and her 98 year old cousin (age will be important later) both ordered the Prime Rib dinner, and the portion size was huge. It took a considerable aount of time for the dinners to be served, and this was surprising as they were not that busy (we were told they were fully booked for 4 pm, however, half the restaurant was still empty). They were cooked as asked for, however, the sauce they used was not Au Jus sauce, but what tasted like a watered down barbeque sauce. My dinner, however, was disappointing on many levels. I ordered the Cauliflower steak after discussing it with the waitress, who said it was praised by others that had ordered it. Mind you, the Christmas dinner was a three course offering that ran $49.95 each. What I got amounted to a slice of a cauliflower head, which was slightly charred on the edges and had little flavoring - and was covered with some Israelie couscous and tomato bits. The entire offering of the entree' could be purchased for $5.00 at any local shop-rite and had NO PLACE on a Christmas menu for $49.95. If I was the manager of the restaurant I would be ashamed of that offering for that price. To fully understand why I found this outrageous, look at the two pictures below - the size of the prime rib offered against the size of my plate of Cauliflower (I took two bites of the Cauliflower before I returned it). Our service was as slow as mentioned in other reviews, and as before management never came over to ask any questions or apologize for the issues. We even asked of they had someone call out sick, or were understaffed and our waitress said no, it was just busy (which it really wasn't - and I would hate to see the service if they were full of patrons). My replacement meal was the Chicken which was tasty, but the piece served was a small portion from a cornish game hen. It took 45 minutes for me to get that replacement, and our server never showed back up to ask me how my replacement meal was. Our desserts took almost 20 minutes to come out. Again, the portion sizes differed greatly. Our final insult on this dinner was the bill. We were charged full price for all three meals - and my wife's 98 year old cousin (can you tell from the picture she MIGHT be a senior citizen?) was charged the full price and not the senior rate of $42.95. After waiting over 5 minutes, we had to flag another person (a hostess) down to ask this error to be corrected. The only recommendation I can give is to not go here. read more

This is supposedly a relatively high end restaurant; entrees are $30. I booked Saturday night dinner for my wife's birthday and confirmed menu in advance. Got there and was told that they switched to a buffet because "not enough staff showed up." I complained to manager and regular dinner menus showed up. We ordered drinks and dinner. Thirty minutes later I had to get up and ask the hostess if the restaurant served bread; they did but had just forgotten us. My drink (a wine they serve by the glass) didn't show up for half an hour after everyone else's because they "couldn't find the bottle" and I was offered nothing in the interim. I did ask for and get a dessert with a candle for my wife but really not nearly enough apology for what was a really challenging dinner. The food was good but I can't say I enjoyed the experience. Avoid the restaurant at all costs. The service was bad enough that we laughed about it days later. We made reservations but we were the only table in the whole restaurant, but it still took forever for them to seat us and 45 minutes from our reservation time before I had .a drink. My entree was $40 and by no means worth it. The fish was excellent, but the rice was terrible (like sloppy wet oatmeal) and they didn't have all of the ingredients. One star, and that's high. If there were half a star I would leave that instead. Booked a reservation for Mother's Day over a month ago. Spoke with the manager, we asked for and were promised a window table. I get it. Mothers Day, busiest brunch day on the planet. But what we endured there was obscene. First of all table wasn't ready, no big deal, happens a lot. When it was ready it was the furthest from the window possible. We asked to get something closer to the window. Or at least off highway 36, that's how far we were from having a view. One whole month ago, these reservations were made mind you. In the meantime we noticed empty ocean view tables. Managers, walking around with their iPads and headphones all over. I think they were playing computer games with each other because not one of them came over to us, ever, and we were there 3 hours. We did get a better table. You could see the beach if you looked past the two tables that were in front of us. When did they make THEIR reservation, last friggn July?? We sat, at 3 separate tables. Tired of waiting and didn't want to make a scene. To add insult to injury was the non existent service, dishes and glasses piled on our table. Once in a while a busser came over and cleared plates. Had to ask for water. Ordered 2 bottles of wine. We were brought 2 other bottles because the ones we wanted were "hard to locate". No one came to take a drink order. Surprised because they could've made themselves another 40 bucks considering there was a TWENTY ONE PERCENT gratuity added. I finally tracked down my server and asked if she could go around to the three tables and get a drink order which I would pay on a separate check. That is the only way we ended up getting a cocktail. I work in the food service industry as did half the people in our party. I know how people can be when you're their waiter. This was the opposite. We were treated like we should feel lucky to be there. Food was superb. Didn't make up for the lack as service and being ignored. Never again. PS. All they were serving was an all day menu with little that appealed. We were staying at the hotel for a couple of days, and the weather had turned bad, else we'd have just left. To add insult to injury, our server brought drink menus, on an iPad. A little pretentious given that when we both ordered mojitos, he told us he'd have to check and make sure they were available. Just avoid this place. The service was dreadful, slow, unhelpful and unfriendly. My daughter ordered plain pancakes and got blueberry pancakes. They were not helpful when we pointed this out. She eventually got her replacement pancakes before I got the poached eggs I had ordered at least half an hour before. First time I've ever had poached eggs with a hard yolk! Visited for Mothers Day Brunch. Expected high quality for $55 plus auto 21% tip. We had an mid afternoon reservation. The buffet was an absolute mess at the time that we went, around 3 pm. I was afraid to eat any of the raw bar, just scraps left, looked like a hurricane came through. All they had left at the carving station was well done prime rib. They started breaking down the buffet while we were still trying to get food. They ran out of dessert. lol! Some of the food was good, lamb chops and ham were delicious. However, not worth the money, overpriced drinks, $10 for a Bloody Mary so spicy couldn't drink it. Told the manager, showed him desert table that looked like a band of wild animals came through, and he credited us the $10 for the Bloody Mary. Made a reservation thru Open table website for an early meal (2;30) on Thanksgiving. Info stated cost as 31-50, sounded good, booked reservation. Upon being seated, we found it was a buffet (hate them) getting my own food is not my idea of going out for dinner. Food was OK, we sat and waited for our bill at least 15 min asking twice. Worst service I have ever had in my life. I had to go to the bar myself to get drinks. We never saw the waiter from the time he took our food order until the time he gave us our check. Came for Christmas dinner. I will be brief in the problems though there are many. My party of 8 sat down and was not approached by a staff member for 15 mins. At that time they took drink orders that did not arrive for another 20 mins. In between that time no waitress checked in on us. When the drinks arrived half the drinks came back as just soda, no liquor added into it, which prompted us to go to the bar ourself to get the correct drink. The waitress took our order and again didn't see her for a while. 45 mins later we got one piece of bread each. Another half hour later we got our appetizers (soups and salad). No check from staff on our drinks. Another hour later we got our main courses. Still no check on us otherwise. While we were eating dinner we decided to order dessert considering how slow service was. All the desserts were out so the table got ice creams. Mind you, dinner was prix fix and included a list of three desserts. The bill finally came (after a three hour sit down) and our bill wasn't adjusted for the lack of a dessert which was included in the menu. Management never came to apologize.
